With two other brothers and a certified gangsta as a father Adore is trained to go in the streets. Fully prepared to be a Boss's wife Adore has a low tolerance for bs when it comes to her Papi. Even though she knows her heart belongs to Loyalty she is not willing to come second to the next chick. Loyalty claims he is trying to be the man she needs but will her insecurities and childish ways push him away before he has a chance to prove himself?
First let me preface this by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Chrissy J's and it pains me to be unable to give her a 5-star ranking. Unfortunately however, this book just wasn't up to her normal standards for me and I have to stay true to my mission which is to give a 100% honest review. I've been waiting for quite some time for Ms. Chrissy J to drop something and while I typically thoroughly enjoy her writing style, this one has pieces missing which is normally not the case for this writer. The book was centered around Adore and Josiah aka Loyalty aka Papi. They pretty much have always been around each other and in and out of one another's lives for ages due to the business relationship that Loyalty and Savage, Adore's brother, maintained. In the very beginning we see that because Adore is the youngest and only daughter of her parent's 3 children, she is extremely spoiled and in many ways immature. Adore in spite of her physical beauty and being raised by both a strong-minded mother and a doting father, has self-esteem issues that cause her to constantly wait with baited breath for the other shoe to drop so to speak. Josiah is your typical hood boy. He is about his business and doesn't take any slack from anyone when it comes to building the empire that both he and Savage are trying to cultivate together. Now here is where some of my issues with the book come into play. For Adore to be raised by parents who were considered "Street Royalty" she acts as if she is new to the aspect of dealing with a hustling dude. For example not one time are we ever presented with evidence that Loyalty is out and blatantly disrespecting her while they are in a relationship but she is quick to believe the bird brain stripper girl who comes and informs her that she is pregnant with Loyalty's baby. She has admitted that any dealings that he has had with women occurred when they were not in a committed relationship but instead of giving Loyalty the benefit of the doubt and hearing him out she immediately runs and plays this childish tit for tat game with what we all know is his sworn enemy, Gunner. Anything outside of a casual hello should have been taboo or off limits as far as Gunner is concerned. The author made it a point to tell us that being street royalty came with certain expectations and behaviors that were a requirement if one wanted to be given the prerequisite amount of respect. This contradiction is further compounded when we see the way that she quickly lays up with Gunner and has sex with him on some "get back" for Loyalty having sex with his ex. Now never mind the fact that she pushed this man away and at the end of the day a man is going to be a man so really and truly in my opinion while Loyalty's actions weren't right they really were justifiable due to the childish nature and behavior of Adore. What should have been more of a climatic or at the very least intense game of cat and mouse between Gunner and Loyalty left a lot to be desired. For Gunner to be on the status that he was portrayed in the book his ultimate demise was quick and pretty much glossed over. Moving on to the relationship of Savage and Lex. The opening of the book we see that Lex is fed up and something occurred that caused her to decide that she was done with Savage on an intimate level. We are never given any intricate details as to what transpired and why she decided enough was enough. We are left to just assume that he cheated one time too many and she decided to leave the relationship alone. The way that Savage moved was just unconscionable to me. I get that with more more money and status comes the THOTs and birds out of the woodwork but he didn't carry himself like you would expect a "BOSS" to carry himself. His thought process was that of someone that just didn't care about himself nor his woman. He recklessly had unprotected sex with nasty strippers and left himself vulnerable for attack by carelessly entertaining said woman in her spot without the knowledge of whether she was otherwise taken. Again we are left to assume just from conversations that took place between Savage and Loyalty that these women were springing up out of the woodwork happily divulging the fact that they slept with Savage to Lex. Overall the characters just weren't as developed as I'm used to seeing from this author. They were pretty one-dimensional. We weren't privy to many aspects of their lives that I think would have helped to shed light on why they acted the way that they did. We know that there were two brothers but the entire story I think we may have gotten 2 glimpses of Nico and all we know is that he is moving funny. We aren't really give any context to help us understand what would make Loyalty think or even second-guess his loyalty to the family only the statement that it was a concern. Again just like we were never given any instances or examples of what Loyalty did or didn't do to have Adore looking at him sideways and questioning his moves as if he earned her distrust. The other thing that was very surprising to see were the editing issues. This typically not the case with a Chrissy J book however there were names that were switched up in the middle of conversations, missing words, and misused words throughout the manuscript. This isn't the worst but unfortunately it wasn't the caliber of writing that I've come to associate with the name of Chrissy J. I will definitely look out for part two if for nothing else to see how this is all going to play out with the cliffhanger that we were left with.
Chrissy you did that hun! Loyalty is that dude and I like him I'm glad he got rid of Gunner I was nervous for a minute...I'm ready for Savage to get back out there and show out, that Nico anit shit with his ol grimy ass! I need part 2 asap!
Chrissy J. My first Read by you. Good stuff. To look at these families, Lexi's and Adore' s rule the streets but I see it's something rotten going on within the family. Who is behind this latest mess? What does Reni have to do with it? It seems as soon as Savage realized what he had and was ready to make everything right, all hell breaks loose. Adore and Josiah had such a love that neither one wanted to give it up. Josiah had an enemy Gunner and he felt he could get Adore and take Josiah out at the same time. Gunner tried to use Adore as his pawn in his sick game. Seeing Savage and Josiah change their ways, but what's going on with Nico? Is he working with the enemy? Will Savage be okay? Will Adore get out this latest mess? Can't wait to see if I'm right with my thoughts. Good Job!🤗🤗🤗🤗
Every book i've read by this author had been on point she's a very good writer bc all of her books r good from beginning to end and holds your interest. i've read her whole catalog & not once have i been disappointed. Now i'm waiting for part 2. I can't believe Nico is doing his family like tht all in the name of greed. I can't wait for his family to find out tht he's been behind all this drama
They say all good things must come to an end, and this book proves it. Just when things were going so well, something else happens. I wouldn't want to be in the way when Reni and his crew attack. I want to see who's man enough to take that stupid leap.
This author never disappoints me. She knows exactly what her readers want and delivers just that, each time. With 'I Call My Thug Papi' introduces a new couple, Adore & Loyalty, who I am sure will be added to Chrissy J reader's favs. Like most couples, we see them go through the motions of on/off but they try to work out their problems since they both cant seem to shake each other. As a loyal reader of this author's, I was happy to see a familiar name (River) in the story and have a feeling she will be back in part II somehow. I look forward to seeing what happens next. I expect Papi will be on the rampage for Adore.

This was a banging read. Loyalty is that dude that I would love to call Papi. He had to be a good dude to put up with Adores spoiled butt. He was doing everything possible to live up to his name. I'm almost afraid for whomever had kidnapped Adore. Savage is good for Lexi. I hope that he's okay. He needs to be there for the sake of Lexi and his sister. All heck is about to break loose, especially now that Reni is involved. I can't wait until part 2 drops.
Chrissy J you have done it again another CERTIFIED BANGER this book was good from the beginning to the end. I love the Loyalty and love Adore and Loyalty share. Their love story is epic and one for the books. Savage is just that a savage and I was glad he finally got it together cause Lexi loves him. Hopefully he is able to bounce back. Cannot wait to see what the next installment has in store.
This was a good read. I like Savage a lot so I really hope he survives and will be just fine. Knowing all the threat that the whole family have and to have no security watching the girls is just plain ole stupid to me. Like if you have to much money and you the king of New York then where is your protection. I hope Adore is return safe and sound and nothing bad happens to her and her baby. I can't wait to read book 2.
This book was everything! I love me some Loyalty. I was glad Adore got her ish together and realized he was trying. I hope Savage is okay Lexi gonna go crazy if something happens to him. Nico seem like he on some shady stuff. I can't wait for part 2. Oh that sneak peek though!! I know that's going to be a banger.
This book was everything page Turner action drama from beginning to end the couples well paired up but men was crazy every page was action love it well written story was told eagerly awaiting part two
Wasn't what I expected, but overall I'm please. The suspenseful ending was much needed in my opinion. Characters were intriguing and relatable. Overall excellent job
I can't wait to read part two. Will savage wake up? Will he remember Lexi cuz it was sounding like it in the ambulance? So many question... I need part 2
