Such a total lack of acknowledgement has completely unexpected consequences. Elizabeth is now in a position to become more involved and makes her first smuggling trip to Guernsey and while doing so she meets Rachelle. Bravery puts John's life in danger on several occasions and the shocking ending of this book paves the way towards the ultimate ending of the Saga.
