The last thing she needs is an added complication.

Like him. Sonny Masters. Her partner. A streetwise former thug turned cyber operative with a lethal grin who doesn’t understand she’s in charge and does not require his protection. He’s everything she dislikes—and everything her body wants.

If they can keep their hands off each other long enough to complete the mission, they might just get out alive…

Can be read as a standalone

When I told my husband that I read about cyborg agents disguised as another alien species having sex, he thought it was a joke. Then he asked me if it was like two klingons getting it on....

Anyways... this book is a pretty fun read. Amanda and Sonny are infiltrating the home base of a terrorist to find the location of his current hide out. During the life threatening mission, they fall in love and have some sexy moments.

Amanda is a bit insecure about herself, but she's definitely a cyborg you don't want to mess with. Sonny is strong, protective, and understanding. They're the perfect team.

My favorite part of the story was learning about new gadgets and different alien objects. I couldn't get enough of it, and I can't wait to read the other books in the series.

I've been happily following this series with its mixture of hot cyborgs and an interesting array of characters but wasn't quite sure if I would take to a female cyborg operative . Well luckily Amanda isn't exactly what I expected. Yes she is tough but there's a vulnerability to her that sees her sometimes having poor judgement which is quite obviously human, insecurities and all. Pairing her up with the forceful Sonny worked very well. Technically Amanda is in charge as their mission is all her plan but I think someone forgot to tell Sonny that! Oh yes big tough cyborg with protective urges and even a huge streak of jealousy . Yet as the story progressed and the couple dropped their barriers they really learned to trust each other.
I won't go into too many details about the plot but will say if you have read any of these books you might well remember the people of Lamis-Odg and their terrorist leader. They are indeed as vile as I remembered with a mentality that simply beggars belief! In this harsh world our two cyborgs find themselves pitched against prejudice, fanatacism and even their own limitations. I truly enjoyed the action and danger they faced although at times their willingness to sacrifice themselves was pretty hard to take. If I have any complaint it's the way this story ends. I felt a little cheated that after the couple faced so much together their rescue was told to the reader retrospectively . They do get a happy ending though so the author is somewhat redeemed.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

I look forward to each new release in this series about the big, dangerous cyborg secret ops guys and the adventures their cunning sassy heroines lead them on. In this one, imagine my delight to discover that there was a cyborg heroine to challenge the cyborg hero as they shared a suicide mission that they couldn't fail.

This was book four in the series. It's connected to the others, but would work fine as a standalone or out of order.

Sonny gets to the rendezvous a day early to meet his new mission leader and join him on the dangerous mission to infiltrate enemy territory and gain valuable info particularly the location of the terrorist leader. Getting down time on a pleasure planet in the bar leads him to a hot, passionate encounter with a gorgeous powerful woman and at the end, she inexplicably acts hurt and runs from his room. Good thing he won't be seeing that one again.

Amanda knows the good-looking sexy guy now thinks she's a nut job the way she freaked out and ran, but his joke about 'doing better next time' brought back memories of her demanding father who was never happy with her achievements. Now she is going on a dangerous mission that she probably wouldn't return from and knows that it still wouldn't make him proud. Well at least if she was going to embarrass herself, she'll never see the sexy Sonny again.

Only, they do encounter each other- the next morning as a matter of fact. They're mission partners. Amanda gets snippy and all business because of her embarrassment and Sonny withdraws when she snarks out that he was only a tolerable lay. Amanda wears a chip on her shoulder because she feels she has to prove herself so gets bent out of shape when Sonny questions her hazy plan to seduce the terrorist leader's son for information and Sonny has little patience for a woman set on a suicide mission and a plan that doesn't seem like much of a plan at all.

Things are going fairly well until they're not and the pair must work together if they are to get out alive. Sonny has to learn to trust in Amanda's skills and Amanda must learn to be a team player. All the while, the pair's attraction grows into something more.

Each of these stories feature a cyborg, a romance, and a mission, but I love how the author makes each unique to the characters involved giving them depth and background. Things get hot and heavy right away then back off as the conflict between characters and the mission takes over.

Amanda is very talented and skilled, but she let her father's put downs get into her psyche. She feels she has to prove herself and she is oversensitive looking for trouble when it's not there. Sonny did have his doubts about her being on the mission and a little of it is because she is female, but some is because he is attracted and wants to protect her while still another part is because her plan is pretty airy fairy and not one that has much chance at success- of course, she didn't give him the whole plan so I don't blame him for being concerned.

I really liked Sonny for a woman like Amanda. When he wasn't jealous, he really did respect her and treated her opinions as he would any other team member. Amanda left me iffy until she started to loose the chip on her shoulder and just do her job and also appreciate Sonny for himself. They were pretty hot stuff and I like that epilogue about this pair.

The action plot was suspenseful and exciting. Just when it looked like they were done for or that they got away a twist occurs to swing things round again. I loved the rock and hard place feeling this story had as they worked to complete their mission and then to come out alive.

All in all, this read pretty fast and easy with scorching heat, sassy conflict, and enough excitement to keep the reader riveted. I can easily recommend this book/series to those who enjoy light sci-fi romance and a sexy pair of action heroes and lovers.

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review thoughts.

Fun, short Scifi read. Amanda Mansfield and Sonny Masters are on a suicide mission to uncover the whereabouts to a terrorist leader. Amanda has something to prove, always being told she isn’t good enough by her father. Sonny, not caring whether he lives or dies since feeling responsible for his sister’s death. Neither had met before and mistook each other for a one night stand before having to meet there partner the next day to start the mission. Imagine their surprise when their one night stand is their mission partner. Amanda is the operative leader but Sonny, with his protective instincts won’t just stand down. This story was short and funny and packed full of action. There wasn’t a dull moment and had great chemistry between Amanda and Sonny. You can’t help but root for them to succeed the near impossible mission.

A sci fi romance erotica that was really fun to read with a great set of characters who happens to be cyborgs! They hook up really fast since they happen to be on assignment to catch a major terrorist of the galaxy but you know lust always wins! As campy as it sounds this was pure entertainment with lots of actions, a quick thinking she-cyborg, a chivalrous he-cyborg and of course sexy times in the most unusual places while defeating the interstellar bad guys, what more could you ask for!

Wow! I'm getting more into Sci-Fi everyday. This new one by Cara Bristol had so many twists and turns that I couldn't put it down. Two cyborgs are on a sucicide mission. They are sent to a planet to remove really evil people. Durning the mission they fall in love. They both have emotive backgrounds, her father and his mentor. Somehow against all odds the succeed. This new world was fascinating in landscapes, language, dialogue and names that were difficult to say. It was so believable that at times my heart was pounding in my chest. All in all it was a brilliant, believable. Page turner with lots of action. There was some mild sex and even milder Soanking. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

Read this story and discover why “Trapped with the Cyborg” is not to be missed!

These two cyborgs find love across the stars. They need more than luck and skill to survive. What friends or intelligence could be obtained along the way? Rest assured they will be able to enjoy their well-deserved HEA.

Readers are going to love this Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series. This is the fourth book, but jump right in as this does standalone. I loved the book and will reread it again! “Trapped with the Cyborg” gets 4.5 stars from me.

3 stars.

The story was ok (with some plot holes) but I didn't like the H/h as much as the previous couples. I thought Amanda (Manny) especially tried too hard to be tough and in charge. The parallels to the current religious fanaticism are very apparent.

I like this series, it’s sexy and fun and easy to read, with aliens and space tech and all kinds of enjoyable things. I like cyborgs too, and there are few things I love more than a well-matched action couple, so when I read that there were two cyborgs in this book, I was excited to see how things turned out.

Well, it’s still sexy and fun and exciting, but I have to admit I have my doubts about the effectiveness of these two on top secret missions. Mostly because of their complete lack of discretion. Come on, they’re on a dangerous terrorist planet, with a crushing theocratic dictatorship known for its intrusive use of tech and oppression of its people, so what do they do? Yup, discuss everything loudly and in detail in their room and also have noisy sex despite posing as brother and sister and having guards right out the door. Really? How professional are you people?!

Especially when they can talk wirelessly to each other in their heads.

This, as you may be able to tell, annoyed me quite a bit. Which is a shame, because this is another good installment to this series, digging a little deeper into the terrorist planet of Lamis-Odg and putting our characters in heaps of peril. It’s dangerous with plenty of moments of high tension and sexy times. It also stands alone well enough that if you’re new to the series you should be able to follow along, while old readers will hopefully enjoy taking another look at those nasty Lamis-Odg.

If I’m honest, though, Amanda didn’t quite live up to my expectations. She’s strong and capable, but spends a lot of time dealing with her daddy issues, while Sonny’s protectiveness veers close to sexist jerk at times (but both he and Amanda do realise this and she isn’t afraid to address it). Sadly, they didn’t work as well as a team as I’d hoped either, since Sonny is a big strong leadership guy and Amanda gradually defers to him throughout because Love! Which, by the way, came out of nowhere. They was attraction, there was sex, there was peril – suddenly love! Hmm…

So, on balance, this isn’t my favourite of the series. It is still a good read, for the overall series plot as much as anything, but the characters didn’t appeal to me as much as I’d hoped, neither act like I’d expect from experience cyber-ops people and both have moments of complete lack of suspicion leading to them missing clues I would have expected them to have picked up on immediately. However, if you’re looking for a sexy sci-fi romance that’s a quick, easy read, has aliens, danger and running around in the desert, then give this a try.

The author gives you a sassy heroin in this fun loving sexy read filled with aliens and space tech that leave you breathless along with wonderful scenes you have no trouble picturing in your mind. This is a series but can be read as a standalone that you will have no trouble following.

The very good looking sexy guy thinks Amanda is crazy after the way she acted. With the things he said he brought back memories of a demanding father that she could do no right in his eyes. What women wouldn’t turn and run to out run the bad memories that haunt her. At least with this mission she will never have to see Sonny again nor face her embarrassment. She is about to go on a dangerous mission that most likely will be her last. She doubts even death from a mission would even make her father proud. No matter what she does she always feel less around her him.
Sonny is all out for meeting his new mission leader on the most dangerous mission he has been on. He takes some down time at a bar meeting a hot sexy beautiful woman who acts strange like he did something wrong. She turns and runs around thankfully he won’t have to see her again. He sets his mind on the mission getting his self mind ready to take it on.

Each are shocked when they find out they will be on the mission together words are said that leave both of them cold to the other which leads to a wonderful plot with wonderful tension between the two. These two much learn to trust each other and work as a team if they want to make it out alive. This is a unique story with a good plot that keeps the reader interested as you keep turning the pages to find out what the author has in store for you next. I found this read to be suspenseful and exciting. I really enjoyed the plot with characters that are exciting. I loved the tension between them. The author throws in a twist which really gets things going. If you are looking for a nice sci-fi romance with conflict that is a very sexy read this is one you should pick up.

What happens when you get 2 Cyborgs, a possible suicide mission, danger, action and smokin' hot attraction, a 4 star read that you can't put down.

I received a copy of Trapped with the Cyborg in return for an honest review. I have been following this series from its very beginning. I must say I have a weakness for Cyborgs and Cara sure knows how to produce. This story has it all, you have a mission that could be classified as impossible, then you get to include the intrigue, danger, deception and betrayal faced by our two Cyborg agents on a planet that there is little information on and where one misstep or wrong word can get you executed. There is also that inconvenient attraction, which may or may not have been 'not bad'. Then we have said attraction grow into something much, much more, in fact some would say its 'the only thing more dangerous than a suicide mission'. Amanda and Sonny are on a mission that is so high up on the danger level, Cy-Ops asked for volunteers. As I turned each page, I was drawn more and more into the adventure, in fact I couldn't put the book down until I turned that final page. I just had to keep reading it was that good. This book can be read as a stand alone but having read the first 3 books in the series I would strongly suggest reading those first as it gives you the background and reasoning that is the basis for Amanda and Sonny's mission. I can't wait to see what Cara has in store for us next, I know it will be great!

I was provided a copy of Trapped with the Cyborg in exchange for an honest review. I had a little more trouble getting into this story than I did the others; I am not sure if it was the story or just my frame of mind, but this time around it just didn’t grab me. I liked the beginning; how they hooked up not knowing they were each other’s partner. It was hot and funny at the same time. Yet Amanda (Manny), who is supposed to be a badass cyborg, is so caught up in her own head; stuck on past hurts regarding her father’s cruel words, that it affects her decision making.

I really liked Sonny when he was introduced in Captured by the Cyborg and I’m glad he got his own story; yet he was also fighting past demons that affect the way he acted and reacted to situations involving Amanda. She was supposed to be the lead, yet, most of the time it seemed like he took charge. or they just worked together.

Their chemistry was crazy strong and Cara Bristol writes a great love scene. The action sequences were pretty awesome; I was on the edge of my seat many times. Overall, I really enjoyed the story, it’s not my favorite out of all of them, but it does make a great addition....Sara

A big thank you to NetGalley and Cara Bristol for the ARC for my honest review.

First time reading this author-and I didn't even notice that this is number 4 in a series. My bad.
Saying that-this is obviously a stand alone as I had no problems following the story line. This was a different type romance book for me but I found it fun and suspenseful. Lots of twists and turns and I loved the beginning (no spoilers). So Amanda and Samson have chemistry and are on a crazy suicide mission. If you like Star Wars and romance then I think you should try this series. It has a bit of everything. Intrigue, romance, crazy planets. Let me know if you agree. Enjoy.

Awesome!

OK I absolutely love the series! And I think this one may be my favorite. It seems every time I think one is my favorite I read the next one and have to change my mind LOL! I thought the last one was my favorite, even though I really do adore every one of these books. However with a female cyborg and this one something about that just makes it even more awesome on top of more awesome LOL! And any rate I can't wait until the next one and I'm about to dive in!

A partnership made in the stars...

Sonny is on an assignment but it isn't one he's comfortable with. Not only is his partner in this practically-a-suicide-mission a female, but she's one that he can't help but be attracted to. She's perfect for him and knowing she is about to be in perilous danger has him wanting to call the whole thing off.

Too bad for Sonny because Amanda isn't about to lose this chance to get the location of one of the most notorious intergalactic terrorists. She's willing to do this mission on her own if necessary. But when things go awry, Amanda sure is glad that she isn't alone. If only she and Sonny could escape with their lives, then maybe there is a chance of a relationship developing between them. But that's a big 'if' since danger lurks in the most unsuspecting of places.

This was a really fun read. The first part was a surprise and while it was easy to figure out the secret here, I didn't mind. I enjoyed watching our couple make a giant and fantastically delicious mistake. And it was also pretty entertaining to watch them discover the truth, too.

The romance steadily grows throughout the story but it's really the plot that explodes on the digital pages. Then our characters are thrust into one scene after another. There is plenty of action and suspense, plus a little bit of mystery. I think this pair is my second favorite couple in this series but this plot might be my favorite just because it was so intense.

I have enjoyed this entire series and this happens to be my last of the available books right now. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the author comes up with next.

Lady cyborgs, FTW! I kinda love kickass ladies and one who can hold her own against other cyborgs makes me grin. Finding her place with the other cyborgs (mostly male) still an uphill battle (or so Amanda thinks), but she's got this.

Of course things are complicated a little when she and her new partner unwittingly hook up. And then even more when their infiltration mission is on a planet where woman are second class citizens. Maybe even less than second class. It's rough.

The point is Amanda holds her own and fights for what she believes in. And once she gets past her preconceived notions about Sonny, things take a turn. A good turn. A sexy turn. Well, a second sexy turn. The first one left smudges on the window.

Anywho. Amanda isn't the only one working past issues. Sonny has a few of his own and the position Amanda finds herself in sends all his senses on red alert. FOR REASONS.

Don't worry, though, things have a way of working out for these cyborgs. But then, when you're a kickass operative, what do you expect?

love and infiltration

I'mfiltrate the very heart of the enemy - it's a suicide mission for cyborgs Amanda and Sonny. Both are Cy-Ops operatives, dedicated to the eradication of the fanatical terrorist Lamas-Odg, and their plan takes the to the ruler's palace on his home planet. Too bad they meet (unknowingly) on a pleasure planet for a pre-mission layover. The seeds of lust and love this planted, fertilized by individual past history, complicate a mission already fraught with potential catastrophic failures. I was totally hooked on the danger, the suspense, and the ingenious extrications from capture and death as this pair stumbled through improvisation after lucky break to the very end. Said ending, of course, included a satisfactory romantic HEA - more than could be said for the terrorists. I'm loving this entire series, and this book is a great addition to it.

Sonny and Amanda. In book 4 of this series we finally come across a female cyborg. After a "one night stand" Amanda and Sonny are hurtled into an assignment where they have to pull on everything they have and then some to survive. They are faced with every conceivable and some inconceivable twists and turns to complete their mission and then escape a hostile planet to go home and make babies. The challenges they endure and the determination to survive makes for some very enticing reading. Another book I couldn't put down. Cara, you rock!

If an action packed, fast paced, well written sci-fi romance is your cup of tea, then I recommend you take a chance on this whole series of Cy-Ops agents & their fight to kept those's they love & the innocent safe from the evil that threaten them all.
Well done Ms Bristol, once again you've kept me entertained & left me wanting more.
I'm now off to read Bk5, "Claimed by a Cyborg".
Another high recommendation.

What a cracker of a story! Full of heart pounding action! And we finally catch a glimpse of the Lamis-Odg home planet.

Trapped with the Cyborg brings us another step closer in the inter-galactic fight against terrorism as Cy-Ops operatives Sonny and Amanda infiltrate the Lamis-Odg home planet to find the location of the terrorist leader. It's a suicide mission. They are not expected to get out alive. Volunteers only. People who were willing to put their lives on the line. That's Sonny and Amanda.

Amanda was a very interesting character. I had a hard time deciding if I liked her at first but once she worked through her issues or rather, once she talked about it with Sonny, I softened towards her. Amanda has daddy issues. Serious daddy issues. It colors just about everything she does and every decision she makes. It even impacted her initial encounter with Sonny, leaving Sonny wondering what he had done wrong when it had nothing to do with him. I don't blame her though. Her father sounds like a real peach *sarcasm*.

“It was old messages playing in my head.” She sighed. “From my father. No matter what I accomplished, I never met his expectations.” She twisted her mouth. “When I made rank in the Terran Armed Forces, he said I hadn’t risen fast enough. When I got injured and received a medical discharge, he referred to it ‘washing out.’ Now, I’m a cyberoperative but can’t tell him because it’s covert, so he assumes I’m sitting on a disability pension doing nothing—although I’m sure he’d find fault. He’d expect me to be Cy-Ops director by now.”
“Your father sounds like ass.”
She smiled. “Many people think so.”

Aside from her daddy issues though, everything about her screams "strong woman". She's tough, she's capable, she's determined. She might even have a little bit of a death wish, as did Sonny. I liked how she and Sonny became partners who could trust each other to get the job done in an impossible situation.

With Sonny, it's difficult to get a handle on Sonny. I liked him from the previous Cyborg book though he only played a small role. In this one, we learn he has a troubled past and carries around a lot of guilt which colors a lot of what he does, and certainly how he views females. Not that he doesn't view Amanda as an equal and a strong woman, but he just can't himself when it comes to being protective of the women in his life. This line says so much about Sonny.

"He couldn't resist a damsel in distress even if said damsel could kick his ass every which way to Sunday."

I liked how consistent Sonny stayed in his character, from wanting to be protective of Amanda and how he let her do her job despite his misgivings and his protective instincts. I also liked him much he respected her. He was great at reassuring her she was sufficient in herself and his actions proved it. It takes a strong and confident man to be able to do that.

Of course, I loved that both Amanda and Sonny were cyborgs. That whole having a computer in the brain thing? Sign me up! And being able to communicate wirelessly (almost like telepathy)? Yes, please. There are times when my Steve and I are at a function when we are separated either at different parts of the room or at different ends of a table and I truly, truly wish there was a way I could communicate telepathically with him about some of my observations of those around me. :-p

On the whole Lamis-Odg thing, we see a lot more of their philosophy and religious beliefs as Ms Bristol expands on who they are. Ms Bristol has done a brilliant job in her research into current day terrorist organizations and their mindset and how she has translated that into the Lamis-Odg organization. I see the parallels so clearly, possibly even more clearly in Ms Bristol's writing as opposed to trying to decipher some of the things happening in our world today. Her writing shows amazing insight into this group of people who currently seek to sow terror in our world.

"Sonny eyed the stony trees, monoliths of a bygone era, yet symbolic of the present. Had Lamis-Odg always been so intractable, so self-righteous? Their way or no way? Had they ever been open and accepting? Their past was a mystery to off-worlders, lost like the sand swirling in the wind. The people and the planet had been unknown until space travel introduced them to the rest of the galaxy.
They quickly became the new neighbors you wished you had never invited over.
They had rejected almost all alien culture, only latching onto its technology, which they used to annihilate dissenting opinions and convert others to their mythology. Believe or die. Unwittingly, the galaxy had given Lamis-Odg the means to conduct its crusade of terror."

This has been a fantastic series so far with each installment bringing us closer to wiping out the terror of Lamis-Odg in the galaxy (I hope!). I'm hoping Ms Bristol intends to continue this series until we get to see good triumph over evil and the terrorists get wiped out and are no longer a power. Can't wait to see what the next book brings.

The characters were both too stupid to live. Who has sex when they are undercover posing as brother and sister? They both just acted so unprofessionally, that I lost all respect for them. Had trouble finishing it. Also, the pleasure planet as described (with people having sex in public all over the place) is a giant turn-off. Ugh.

Amanda and Sonny

They met as strangers, next morning turns out their partners much to their embarrassment. They are headed out on what is probably a suicide mission and they can hardly look at each other. Awkward!

Trapped

The books written on cyborgs are rarely focused on the hows of the making of this group and rarely do they write about the emotional components of the race. This book deals with both aspects which makes it very interesting.

This 4th book in the series really hit all my marks for a top SFR: smart heroine, protective alpha, dangerous adversaries, philosophical analysis. Five stars, rare for a novella-length work.

What happened at the skyport?

Good story. I felt like two characters were missing. I turned the page and they were back where it all began.
