A very gentle introduction to math for prek or the young K student. I loved that introduction and NOT mastery was emphasized in Primer. My oldest son was a 4yo kindergartener and this worked beautifully for him.
I rarely referenced the teacher's manual so I can't comment on that but we did watch the dvd lesson together before each new lesson and I find Mr. Demme both concise and fun. My son was able to understand the instruction with ease. The lessons are short, never boring or repetitive.
The length of the student work is just right and by the end of the year we fell into a very happy rhythm of 2 worksheets per day, doing the fun G worksheet on the last day of the school week. I do wish the sheets had been in a different order, however. Work sheets A, B, and C cover new material, sheets D, E, and F each start with new material and incorporate review. Each week we did as follows:
Monday: A and D
Tuesday: B and E
Wednesday: C and F
Thursday: G (fun sheet)
It would make more sense, in my mind, for the sheets to have been ordered in that way to begin with.
Overall, extremely happy with this math curriculum and will be continuing with Math U See Alpha next week.

Exceptional Curriculum, the only area that I did not like was Lesson Practice 10A (for example) I found that it was confusing and ill placed through out the book. I feel like there could have been more to lead up to that beforehand. I skipped over that part with my daughter and waited a bit and went back to it when I thought it was more appropriate.
Aside from that, I think it's a fantastic workbook, my daughter rarely complains about the lessons and she just turned 5 years old. Can't wait for Alpha! Also, SO happy this is offered by Sonlight.

A wonderful pre-school math book, particularly useful in starting students in the Math-U-See program. I have found the DVD a bit much at this age, so I watch it myself or read the teacher text to do the direct instruction. I find this also helps the student to feel a sense of accomplishment in moving to Mr. Demme's instruction for Alpha.
