What happens when love interferes with plans, during the most unfortunate of times? Gargoyle shifter, and the last of her clan, Mairi, is running for her life, desperate to keep hidden. When she spots two winged creatures flying high above her in the Highlands of Scotland, she momentarily panics, thinking they’re the same beasts who murdered her family along with her entire clan. Realizing they’re gargoyles like her, she takes flight and discreetly follows them to an island. Bryce, beta of his clan and drummer for the Knights of Stone, senses something is amiss on the Isle of Stone. At first, he believes he’s merely discomfited by the rumors of atrocities occurring in the Highlands. However, he discovers an intruder on the magically-concealed island home. Once he ascertains that the flame-haired beauty is the sole survivor of a traumatizing attack, he returns to the Highlands to warn his former clan. Somewhere between cautioning the clan and realizing the necessity of destroying the beasts that threaten them all, Mairi and Bryce discover an attraction that quickly evolves into a consuming passion. A problem even greater than the murderous fiends becomes apparent – the love they share may not survive the battle. For a unique shifter romance series with hot men in kilts, read about the brothers in the Knights of Stone today!

Cupping her chin, he said, "Sexiest female I've ever seen." One side of her mouth turned up with a smile while her eyes twinkled. "Even gray and leathery?" "Ever so bonny."
KNIGHTS OF STONE: BRYCE by Lisa Carlisle is the third riveting, action-packed installment in the author's unique Highland Gargoyles series in which each book has spotlighted one of the Knights of Stone. I think a little background is needed here: The Isle of Stone is the home of three clans of beings: the gargoyles, the tree witches and the wolves. The Calder clan which was made up of most of the gargoyles who had resided on the island have relocated to the Highlands leaving five brothers who have formed a rock band, the Knights of Stone. Bryce is one of the brothers, the drummer for the Knights of Stone and the beta of the new gargoyle clan consisting of the five gargoyle brothers still residing on the Isle of Stone. This story takes place in two primary setting: the Isle of Stone and in the Highlands. A new villainous species is introduced, the sluaghs, who are creepy, bird-headed, two-winged demon creatures.
After the two previous books matched two species: a gargoyle with a tree witch and a gargoyle with a wolf-shifter, Bryce's pairing is with Mairi, a gargoyle. As the book opens, we meet Mairi, who is in hiding after barely escaping with her life from an horrendously brutal attack by the sluaghs that resulted in the destruction of her entire clan. Sadly, Mairi is the only survivor, and therefore, the last of her clan. She's had little time to mourn her losses as she is being hunted by the sluaghs and surviving has been her primary goal. When Mairi sees the winged creatures in the sky, her first thought is that the sluaghs have found her. Then... she realizes that these creatures' forms and flight patterns are familiar - and definitely not demons. She can't believe they are gargoyles as Mairi had thought that her clan were the only gargoyles in the Highlands. But, that's what they appear to be! When the gargoyles are little more than retreating specks in the sky, Mairi takes flight to secretly pursue them thinking that following her kind - whoever they are - is safer than remaining where she is as fodder for the sluaghs.
Bryce's book features epic battles and passionate interludes. It deals with love, loss, revenge and moving on. Mairi's and Bryce's romance is sweet and hot liberally spiced with a plethora of drama. Bryce is an affirmed bachelor with a full plate. He has no time for a relationship with a female that lasts more than one night, or so he tells himself. Fasten your seat belt as their HEA won't be a smooth ride.
Each of the books in this series can be read as stand-alones if that is your preference, but your enjoyment of the series will be increased if you read it in order.
Lisa's gargoyles are hot, sexy rock-hard rock stars. Each of the books in her Knights of Stone series have been exciting, enthralling and exceedingly entertaining and I can't wait to see which brother will be seduced next! I highly recommend KNIGHTS OF STONE: BRYCE to anyone who enjoys imaginative paranormal urban fantasy romances!
A wonderful series with the first three stories all in one set. Gargoyles--hot band--brothers--all in one box! What a deal. Knights of Stone boxed set 1-3 MASON It's not the Hatfields and McCoys but the Gargoyles and the witches (and the wolves) a quarter century old feud has kept the three groups apart. Most of the younger ones don't even know why. When sparks fly, and we aren't talking about witch magic, the attraction between witch and stone man the quarrel and settlement are questioned by the two lovers. Can they make their leaders understand that things are not as they were or seemed? They don't have to keep separate?
LACHLAN The second brother, Lachlan, is the oldest and alpha of their the gargoyle group on the magical isle of stone. The island that is no longer hidden from humans. The quarter-century-old feud between the Tree Witches, wolves, and gargoyles has caused a weakening in the veil that has hidden the island. No one remembers what started the feud. Yet, the result threatens them all. When his younger brother found love with a witch, utterly unheard of, it began talks with the groups. Could they work together to repair the veil and hide them again?
The second meeting of the reticent groups brought a lovely distraction, Raina, daughter of the wolf alpha. His attraction surprised him. Not that he had seen many she-wolves. The three groups kept to themselves. After a threat is all too close, the groups reluctantly agree to work as before the feud, sharing their magic for the good of them all.
Only Lachlan has a problem. One that could ruin it all. Well, two problems. He shouldn't feel what he does for Raina. She hates him, or does she? Can they work together? Can he even ask her for help? What will the feelings do to their families and groups?
BRYCE Bryce watched his brothers match with a tree witch and a wolf. He had no intention of making any match let alone their former enemies. Then he felt something following his brothers as they flew around the island. Not a wolf. Not a witch. What? A female gargoyle hiding? From what? When he finally got her story it was a horrific tale of monsters who had destroyed her entire clan and the whole family. Who or what were they? While they determined what to do. How much danger were they in? His parent's clan. The more danger the faced the closer they drew to each other. If they lived through it all could they have a life together? Three unforgettable stories with hot guys and enemies become lovers. Don't miss it.
This is a 3 book collection of the Knights of Stone gargoyle series by the author.

Book 3 On the way home from Scotland Bryce senses something but can't tell what it is.When he catches what he thinks is a spy on their island. Mairi tells a chilling tale of death and destruction of her clan and ask Bryce for his help.
I am voluntarily giving an honest review for this book series. This is books 1-3 of the series in 1 box set.
Entertaining, enthralling and awesome story In this well written story we have one of the brothers, Bryce, who is Beta to their pack find a stranger on the Isle. He confronts her and finds out she followed him and his brother from the Highlands. She just went through a terrible ordeal losing her entire clan to some demon like creatures. Bryce and his brothers take her back to the Highland and their old clan, but something has to be done to stop the Demons before they hurt anyone else to include his old clan. This is a wonderful love story as well as having plenty of action and adventure. And it still shows how some males can be very dense at times until something hits them over the head to make them realize it. Loved this self-contained story that is also part of a series.
Great story of gargoyles and romance. You don't normally think of sexy gargoyles. But this band of brothers are. It is now time for Bryce to find the one. He will fight it but she is just perfect for him. Mairi is a gargoyle whose whole clan has been murdered. Now with the help of Bryce's clan she may be able to find revenge and the safety she needs.
Knights of Stone From the moment I read about the five life-sized gargoyles on a stage being draped with tartans I was hooked. The tartans were draped over a shoulder and fastened with a belt covering the stone gargoyles with traditional Highland kilts. As the sunlight transitions to dusk and night falls, torches flare into life as if by magic. A hush falls over the audience that has come to hears the Knights of Stone perform. Slowly the massive gray forms straighten, limbs twitch and they become bronzed glorious rock stars. This box set is the start of a series about the Isle of Stone. There are five brothers that play in a band that attracts humans to their formerly hidden/veiled island in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Scottish Highlands. The island is divided into three territories: wolf shifter, tree witches and gargoyles. Twenty-five years ago, a witch cursed the gargoyles and there was fighting and battles with losses on all sides. The residents of the island never interact. Now the veil is fading and humans can now find the island again. Somehow all three groups must learn to work together They must find a way to protect the island and the inhabitants. Many of the gargoyles left the island to return to the Scottish Highlands. Bryce, Lachlan, Mason, Gavin and Calum are the last gargoyles on the island. This book set is about three of the brothers, Mason, Lachlan and Bryce. This book set introduces you to the Isle of Stone. Mason begins a friendship with a forbidden tree witch, Kayla. Lachlan seeks help from the wolf shifters and meets the Alpha’s daughter and Beta, Raina. Bryce finds a gargoyle shifter that is endangered in Mairi. Three very different characters with compelling stories to tell. I read one right after the other. I was totally captivated. I have to go get the other brother’s stories. Grab this set, I have a feeling there are many more stories that need telling on the Isle of Stone!
The start of a great new series..Witches and Gargoyles.. They live on the island of Stone together..But apart..Each on their own side. The Gargoyles are a rock band...Mason plays guitar. Kayla wants to know what all the hoopla is about..She sneaks over and the fun begins,, Love this series..Can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the brothers. Book 2 As we return to the Isle of Stone Lachlan is the new alpha of the Gargoyles.. Raina is one of the werewolf shifters who must work with the brother's to return the veil over the island that hides it from the humans..The witches, wolves and gargoyles must work together. Great story..can't wait for more..It has Witches, Gargoyles and now werewolves
Great 3rd book in the continuing series of the Knight's of Stone. Mairi is the last of her clan of Gargoyles..They were attacked in her homeland of the Highlands.. She see's other flying creatures and assumes they were of the group that had attacked..She follows them back to their island..She finds another group of gargoyles. Bryce knows someone is watching them...Soon he discovers Mairi,, Great story of love and the power they share to over come the demons.. Can't wait to see who the remaining brothers fall for....

The gargoyle brothers Mason, Lachlan and Bryce are about to meet up with their true mates when they least expect it. It seems the brothers started a band but brought their fans home with them to the Island which they share with some Wolf shifters and Witches that cause some serious issues which puts them in danger and they start their own clan and they just try to live in peace but it is not as simple as that. Great characters and very interesting story lines. Box Set Book 1-3. I was given a copy as a gift from the author without obligation.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this boxed set but should have known with Lisa Carlisle as the author I would not be dissappointed and guess what ai wasn't. I have never read books about Gargoyles before. I fell absolutely in love with these cahracters and stories in all 3 books. I loved everything all the twist and turns threw all the books.
I received an ARC and am giving an unbias opinion.
Great stories with gargoyles, witches and wolves! The stories could all be read alone and had HEA. Each story follows these three sets of paranormals who share an island yet have separate areas. The characters were great and I wouldn't be able to pick between the hot gargoyles as to which story was my favorite. The females were all strong and likeable with minds of their own. Loved it! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received.
Whether you're looking at shifters, gargoyles, some other paranormal, or humans, it's true: we're stronger when we pull together than when we're apart. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that. I've found it can be easier to receive these truths when set among paranormal beings or aliens. I don't immediately expect certain behaviors when humans are taken out of the equation.
I loved this three book collection of gargoyle shifter romances. This set gives you the first three of five stories about gargoyle brothers. Featuring a engaging storyline populated by a unique blend of gargoyles, wolf shifters and tree witches, these books are entertaining and emotional. I'm really looking forward to the other brother's books. This is my totally honest, voluntary review.
I lost interest quickly in the first chapter for two reasons. One I’m not a fan of switching POVs and the first book did this fairly soon and two I kept thinking I was rereading over the same information but it was actually written out several times over a few pages and that ended it for me.
Bl1 Mason so sweet and so glad they had the guts to try to change things which started everything bk2 Lachlan it really is true what ur taught as a kid sticks glad they both came around bk3 Bryce so far he's the dumbest of them all for giving up and not even trying
Knight's to protect and vanquish without thoughts of safety of self. These gargoyles know how to party, play music, then take on hard challenges. Three of five fall to Cupid's demands. Smoking hot shifters.
The first I’ve read from this author or series, I’m more than a little obsessed with Gargoyles now. Of course, I always was intrigued by them, and have read several wonderful stories that feature gargoyles, but this series centered around a Highland Clan full of Gargoyle shifters was just too intriguing to pass up.
Self-contained, the story is of Mairi, a gargoyle shifter on the run from her home in the highlands after a group of demon-like creatures killed her family. She’s understandably shaken, but bold and decisive in her own determination to stay alive. When she spots gargoyles, she decides to follow them – at this point anything is better than cowering in fear.
Bryce, Beta of his clan is currently in negotiations for peace with his brother Lachlan, hoping to ensure his clan’s safety on their newfound secret island. What they didn’t realize is that they were followed: Bryce ‘feels’ something amiss and goes to investigate. He finds Mairi – decides that she’s a spy, but being a fair-minded individual, he listens to her story.
Action packed, full of humor and a touch of the highlands, the moments between Bryce and Mairi are wonderfully presented: from the initial mistrust through attraction and wonderful moments of stone-headed cluelessness from Bryce. These two are wonderful together, she’s fierce and intelligent even after her trauma, and she’s determined that Bryce will see her as such. But dangers and threats are seemingly multi-faceted and appear when least expected, and they might find that love and connection are just not possible in these trying times.
Interactions between the brothers (Bryce has several) and between Mairi and Bryce al feel natural – these are concerns and questions that would be logical in the tumult presented. Bryce is so often clueless and single-mindedly determined to do what he thinks he must where his family and clan are concerned, he isn’t always thinking of wooing her. But, with two of his brothers finding their mates in unlikely situations – why can’t he? A wonderful introduction to this series, even as the third book. Each story is complete and self-contained, with plenty of moments to encourage you to read more.
I received an eBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
I'm not a big reader of fantasy/paranormal romances but I did read this short book as well as the two preceding it in the Knights of Stone series. In comparison to the first two books this one is the equal of the second and better than the first. Like the first two the story line is okay, not very complex and written at I'd guess an 8th grade level reading level. That is except for the sexy parts which are definitely meant for adult audiences. This one has some action in it as the gargoyles battle evil demons from a different dimension. These are all short books that end rather abruptly with their H.E.A. Gargoyle meets gargoyle (in this one) or tree witch (the first one) or wolf shifter (the second one) there's instant attraction which our hero fights but eventually is overcome by as his protective gargoyle nature takes over. There's sex and then questions of what that means in terms of a long term relationship and then the gargoyle and the object of his affection realize they are meant to be mates. My problem with this story was that unlike in the first two books with Bryce's brothers Mason and Lachlan who fall for women who aren't the same species and who belong to groups that the gargoyles have an uneasy truce with, Bryce falls in love with a female gargoyle shifter from a different clan. So to my way of thinking all of this angst and reasons why the relationship wouldn't work just didn't ring true. Nor did the idea that as the beta of his clan (which was only comprised of himself and his 4 other brothers) he was too busy to be in a relationship. If Lachlan the oldest and the alpha of the clan had time for Raina the wolf shifter whom he took as his mate, why wouldn't Bryce have time for a relationship with Moira? If you're into the genre and you're not a very demanding reader you'll probably really enjoy this book. I just found it a pleasant way to kill a rainy afternoon.
A modern paranormal book with a Rocker twist, Knights of Stone: Bryce was an enjoyable read. When I read the blurb I never expected this book to be a modern tale I thought it would be more of a historical setting. However Lisa Carlisle has weaved a fantastic story merging the paranormal and modern in a unique way, in fact if it wasn't for the rock twist this particular book could have easily been set in the past.
When Mairi's gargoyle clan is slaughtered by demons she is forced on the run as she becomes the hunted. Spotting 2 winged creatures flying above her, she follows them to the mysterious Isle of Stone, Hiding out she plans revenge against the demons. As a character Mairi wouldn't have been my first choice at the start she seemed so scared and fragile yet she won me over with her determination for vengeance against those that killed her family and sacrificing herself to protect the others in their showdown with the demons.
Bryce is the beta of his small clan, the clan made up of his brothers have taken over the island previously inhabited by their old clan. His older brother Lachlan taking the position of Alpha in the clan but don't be mistaken each of these stone cold hotties are alpha in their own right. When Bryce discovers a stowaway on the island threatening the peace treaty he and his brothers have forged with the other supernatural beings who inhabited the isle he must decide in his captive's fate.
Following the lives and loves of 5 brothers who formed a rock band and just happen to be gargoyles I'm giving this quick and entertaining read a 3.5~4 star rating. There were a few niggles that let it down for me but those niggles may be due to the fact I had not yet read the first 2 books in the series. Hopefully they will be remedied when I read those and the final instalments for our stoney brothers.
Knights of Stone: Bryce is the third book in the Highland Gargoyles series. It features the second oldest of the brothers, who is also second in command. On a return trip from the Highlands, Bryce feels like he is being watched. With strange rumours of people being attacked, he is on his guard. What he finds though, was not what he expected. He finds a young Gargoyle woman, alone and traumatised, although still feisty as hell! When she tells him her story, he knows that the clan his mother and father belong to must be informed, otherwise all Gargoyles are in danger. He tries to ignore his protective instinct, which has been going off the charts since he met Mairi.
Well, Bryce may have tried, but we all know how these things work. He didn't have a cat in hell's chance of withstanding the pull of Mairi, even if she wasn't actually doing anything! This book is full of action, although only one 'steamy' scene Bryce and Mairi. With demons to fight, brothers to contend with, and a protective instinct to overcome, Bryce has his hands full. This book felt very balanced, with equal time being given to Mairi and Bryce. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, and one scene flowed into the other. This is turning out to be a wonderful series, with excellent world-building and characters. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Aug 23, 2017
I am a long time reader of both romance and paranormal romance novels and a lot of my paranormal romance involves shapeshifter so far one sort or another. I have to say that this is my first encounter with gargoyles as shapeshifters. I was intrigued by this new type of shapeshifter and was excited to explore a different take on the genre. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot that was original here. Because the book was set in the Highlands, it read very much like a typical Scottish romance and there wasn't enough explanation of the world of the gargoyles to distinguish it. I am also a long time reader of series fiction, and this book reads like maybe book three or so of a series. Therefore, it is entirely possible that the author has gone into more detail about the world in previous books. A personal note to authors of series fiction: always assume that new readers are going to come late to the party and give them as much of an introduction as necessary to draw them into the world.
Now, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book thoroughly and am very much interested in reading the other Knights of Stone books. I am extremely interested in learning more about Duncan and why he has such an issue with Bryce and his brothers. The sex scenes are not the bulk of the book, as they can be in shapeshifter romances, but they are hot. Ms. Carlisle's writing is well-crafted and I particularly enjoyed the dialog between the brothers.
I was given an ARC by the author to read, beat reat and review.
This is the third book in Lisa Carlisle's Knights of Stone and i have to admit that perhaps this is my most favorite so far....or perhaps its ranking the same as Mason....I haven't decided yet...but wait...i don't have to!!! ~laughs~
In this story we see Bryce who is the Beta of the clan taking up on an introdure of the island only to find another Gargoyle. Mairi having escaped some horrible demons who killed all her clam and almost her needs to hide and stay hidden. When she sees some other Gargoyle Shifters she follows them to the island. Once Bryce listens to her story he knows he has to warn his former clan and all the gargoyles decide that the demons must be eliminated. Beetween battling the demons and battling themselves Bryce and Mairi discover the feelings they have for one another are growing and that their love might not survive the battle
I have to say that when i started the book i just couldn't let it down until i finish it. Bryce and Mairi are so funny!!!!I loved them from the start and thought thr were times i wanted to smack Bryce i think Mairi handled him just fine!!! Quick paced book with a nice part of action and some drama that will make your heartstrings sing. This book is one of the best in the series!
Mairi was a gargoyle and she was hiding from demons who had killed her clan. From her hiding place she spotted two figures flying in the distance, after watching the way they flew she figured out they were also gargoyles so she decided to follow them. She kept her distance and followed them to the island where their clan lived. Bryce had the feeling someone was watching them but he couldn't see anyone. Gargoyles have the ability to hide themselves from everyone except another supernatural. Bryce eventually spotted Mairi and at first thought she was a spy but she told him her story and he believed her. He took her to meet his brothers and they decided to help her by taking them to the mainland to the place where their parents lived in a larger clan. The bigger clan listened to her story and decided to help destroy the demons before they came after their clan. Mairi volunteered to be the bait to attract the demons since they had captured her and planned on killing her before she escaped. This is the story of that battle and what happened between Mairi and Bryce before and after that battle. This bookhas adventure, action, romance and some humor along the way. I was given this arc book in exchange for a honest review.
I was given this story in exchange for an honest review. The follow-up to Knights of Stone: Mason and Lachlan (separate stories) introduces us to Bryce, beta of this fledgling clan of gargoyles who live on an island. While returning back to the isle to continue negotiations with the tree witches and the wolf shifters who also inhabit the island, he starts getting a feeling that they are being followed. Eventually, he finds the person that has been following them—a female gargoyle whose clan was decimated by demons. She’s the only one left. She needs help, safety, and rest, which are provided for her. After getting herself somewhat situated, the brothers take her to the mainland to talk to Duncan, their old alpha. The old clan leader hears her story, which verified the rumors that they’d heard about grisly murders. They come up with a plan that neither Bryce nor Mairi is keen on but by that point, they begin to realize the strength of their attraction to each other. The story does have a HEA but it takes Bryce a while to stop being a bonehead before that happens. Who’s next—Gavin or Callum?
