Hope Springs #3

The Bad Boy's Baby

Rate this book

There are certain words that have always described Cam Brantley: Town bad boy. Soldier. Protector. But never, ever dad. Until he returns home from his latest military tour to discover the girl he had one smoking-hot night with is now mom to the adorable two-year-old Zoey. Who has his eyes.

Plenty of words could describe Emma Walker these days. Mom, dutiful granddaughter, budding designer, the town’s golden child. But when her longtime crush Cam Brantley comes back to town, she knows the perfect word to describe herself: screwed.

Cam and Emma are both shocked to discover he truly wants Zoey in his life. But Cam’s not sure he’s ready to be a dad, and Emma can’t gamble her daughter on maybes. As the long-simmering heat between Cam and Emma reaches a boiling point, he’ll have to work past his demons in order to be the man both girls need.

Each book in the Hope Springs series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

The Bad Boy's Baby was such a wonderful read, loved it!

Cam and Emma shared one night of passion before he was deployed overseas.
When he comes back 3 yrs later he's surprised to learn the woman that invaded his dreams is now a mother, and that little girl has his eyes...
The one thing Cam never wanted was to be a father and now this smart, feisty little girl was his.

Cam was so adamant that love & happy families was not going to be in his future. After growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father and abandoned by his mother, he was bitter and didn't think he was capable of loving someone unconditionally.

After the initial shock wore away Cam steps up and wants to be the father he never had.
I enjoyed watching Cam slowly open up to Emma and their little girl Zoey. They were adorable together, I loved the one on one time Cam spent with Zoey, for a man who had no idea about children he quickly caught on and he was surprised how much he enjoyed fatherhood.
And Zoey? that little girl made me laugh with her cuteness and her non stop "why" lol

Overtime Cam found himself craving more and more to be with Emma and Zoey, and the one thing he was afraid of happened without him even noticing, he fell in love.

What a great second chance romance! When local golden girl Emma Walker had a night to remember with local bad boy and her secret crush Cam Brantley just before he went off on another tour of duty neither had envisaged their being any consequences . . . but there were! Emma has refused to say who the father of her mischievous daughter, Zoey, is but when Cam returns to town she knows it isn’t fair to keep her existence secret from him, especially as she is project managing the design and build of the resort he and his brother are currently having built. How will he react? Will he want to have anything to do with his daughter? Will she be able to resist his magnetic attraction or will time have faded it?

Filled with angst and turmoil this is a sweet second chance romance which has the reader really hoping things can work out for the town’s misnamed bad boy. He was blamed for so much as a teen that wasn’t his fault, he was more hero than villain. The story explores the impact of his physically abusive upbringing by his alcoholic father, his abandonment by his runaway mother and his determined protection of his younger brother. Then there's the impact of being abandoned by both her parents for Emma and being warned not to choose a bad boy because.... The small town gossips, camaraderie and caring as well as downright nosiness are also key elements of the story.

Whilst this is the third novel in the series, I haven’t read the others and this story worked well as a standalone. The characters are well portrayed - I loved Emma’s Grandmother! The story is told from the points of view of the two main characters and whilst much of the plot was predictable it is still a lovely engaging romance to put a smile on your face and great to escape into!

Thanks to the publishers for gifting me an ARC of this novel, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

Emma and Cam.
It's a bit slow to start and here and there but overall a sweetly romantic read.
Emma and Cam hook up for a fling in his truck the night before he deploys. She's the goody-two-shoes girl from high school and he was the bad boy. The one night leads to her little girl Zoey. Zoey's character was well done as a believably precocious toddler.
Cam come back to town and eventually, Emma works up the courage to tell him about Zoey
Did she try to contact him?
Both characters are pretty level headed but also have issues to deal with. Cam's dad was an alcoholic assh*le when he and his brother were growing up. Emma's aunt raised her to want more than sticking around their small town. So they both feel torn between the expectations they'd come to believe their life would be like and their growing feelings for each other.
There's a big misunderstanding near the end but

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

"Secret baby" type books have never been a favorite of mine in fact I usually find myself getting all kinds of mad at the mother for keeping the child away from his/her father, but I've enjoyed the other books in this series and I didn't want to miss a book, so I dove in to The Bad Boy's Baby. This was an interesting story, it had surprising depth and most of all while I was disappointed in the heroine's reasoning for not contacting her baby's father; his reaction, understanding and truthfulness of how he probably would have responded soften the blow and made it easier for me to be okay with her decision. A little bit sexier than most books in the Bliss line, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Back from his latest tour and now out of the military, Cam Brantley is glad to be home and looking forward to the business venture he's starting with his younger brother and his soon to be wife. While he has some issues to resolve from his last mission and with his abusive father who has supposedly turned over a new leaf Cam is looking forward to guiding hiking, fishing and hunting trips in the mountains he loves so much. Finding Emma Walker on the site of their new lodge brings back memories of the one night he spent with her prior to his last deployment.
Emma is shocked when she runs into Cam even though she knew he'd eventually return to Hope Springs, but now she's faced with telling him the truth about her daughter and is worried how it will affect Zoey and how the rest of the town will take the news. To top it off she's never been able to put that one night behind her and she wouldn't change anything about it because Zoey is her world.

As soon as these two see each other again it is easy to feel the attraction between them which makes Emma feel even worse since Cam has no idea he's the father of her daughter. Cam's life has been turned somewhat upside down prior to his return and the news that he's a father throws him momentarily for a loop. What I loved that once he took a little time to absorb it he went all in and worked hard to be a good father even though he never planned to have children it was evident Zoey grabbed his heart from the minute he saw her. Emma and Cam had some obstacles to overcome and yet they were so evenly matched, loved so many of the same things and enjoyed the simple things in life. They worked hard at getting to know one another, became friendly and spent time together as parents before they worked their way around to the beginning of a relationship and I applaud this author for giving them time to do so; it was much more realistic than immediately falling head over heels in love with one another. While they both made some relationship mistakes; I appreciated that they both were more concerned about Zoey and her needs than their own.

Smart, sensual and heartwarming The Bad Boy's Baby is an excellent addition to this sweet small town series!

5+ stars. I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Thanks Cindi for another beautiful love story and awesome read!

Talk about a yummy storyline ..... A one night stand between Cam, the town's sexy "bad boy", home on leave from the Army, and Emma, the town's sweet "good girl". Cam leaves for another tour rotation to Afghanistan and Emma finds out she is pregnant. Cam doesn't find out about his little girl, Zoey, until three years later when he leaves Army life behind and comes home for good to help his brother run a mountain lodge. Cam, whose character I fell in love with, has serious trust issues, so he and Emma are in for a bumpy ride, making this book a truly delightful, emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish.

Cindi Madsen's characters draw you in from page one and leave a lasting, positive impression! This is the 3rd book in her "Hope Springs" series. It can definitely be read as a stand alone, but please do yourself a favor and read the entire series. In fact, read any book written by Cindi, and you will find yourself adding her to your favorite authors list like I have.

Cindi Madsden has a new fan! This was the perfect blend of falling in love and angst over what they should do and if it was the right thing. And did I mention there was a surprise baby story line? I am LOVING those right now!

Emma Walker had just enough to drink one night that she was able to talk to her high school crush at a bar the night before he was leaving on redeployment. Cam Brantley went with the flow and they had a great one night stand. He left, she stayed behind and found out she was pregnant. Flash forward almost three years later and you've got single mom Emma running into newly out of the Army Cam, who has no clue he's a dad. Cam took the baby info really well and what we get to see is him falling in love with not just his daugher Zoey, but with Emma as well. Naturally, they both have some insecurities, but I liked how they knew they had to talk through them to get things to work for them. They didn't avoid talking on purpose.

I loved the epilogue. It was just the perfect wrap up for this sweet love story. It left me saying "awwww" :)

Being fan of Cindi Madsen and having read the last two Hope Springs book it was a no brainer to read this book. I just love all her books.
They always nicely balanced, great characters and a nice HEA for all of them. This book was no different.
But I must say when I first read the blurb I wasn’t sure how much I would like it, given that Emma had Cam’s baby and never told him until now.
But it all made sense in a way and it fit nicely, it wasn’t forced or anything. It all seemed to come a long very natural.

Hope Springs Series
Second Chance Ranch (Book 1)
Crazy for the Competition (Book 2)
The Bad Boy's Baby (Book 3)

The Bad Boy's Baby is the third book in Cindi Madsen's Hope Springs series. This is also the first book that I've read by this author. Each book can be read as a standalone without missing anything in each individual story.

Emma Walker had big dreams that involved moving to a big city and getting a great job at architecture firm. But after one drunken night with the town "bad boy", Emma's plans were put on hold to have her daughter, Zoey. She was unsure how to tell the father since he was deployed and she didn't know how to get in touch with him. But now he is back, and Emma knows he has a right to know.

Cam Brantley is returning home from a decade in the army. All he wants to do is help his brother get Mountain Ridge up and running. But coming home to find out a one-night-stand he had the night before a deployment resulted in a daughter (an adorable daughter with his eyes), Cam is completely thrown for a loop. He never wanted kids. Not after the way he and his brother were raised. But one look at his little girl he KNOWS that he wants to be a part of Zoey's life.

And the more time he spends with Zoey, the more time he wants with Emma too.

This book was kind of... dull/bland for me. I don't know what it was exactly, but I felt somewhat bored with Emma and Cam as a couple. I didn't feel any chemistry/passion/heat/attraction between them. The highlight of this book for me (at least) was the relationship that Cam formed with their daughter, Zoey. I also didn't get a "bad boy" impression from Cam (in the past or now).

Rating: 2 out of 5

I loved the story. It's a fun read. Both Cam & Emma are amazing characters. I liked how the developed their relationship, slowly, taking their time and having fun along the way. It is and interesting book which I'd recommend to all romance lovers.

Cam and Emma had a one night together and then Cam was deployed. Emma never got a chance to tell him about his daughter. Now he is back in town and Emma must find a way to tell him. She just hopes that he tries to be a dad. Although she knows all about his views on having children.

Cam never thought he would ever father a child but knowing that he has a daughter changes everything. He is more than willing to try having a relationship with his daughter. He wants to be in Zoey's life. There is no way he would let his daughter grow up knowing that her dad didn't want her.

But Zoey is not the only important person here. He also has feelings for her mother. Even though they didn't know each other well, but now that they are spending time together they realise they are attracted to each other. Chemistry between them is off the charts, they also have a daughter together so it seems natural to give themselves a chance.. But will they be able to get over their past lives, future dreams, and present hopes is different matter entirely...

I loved this one!! It's a sweet small town second chance romance that filled me with all sorts of emotions. The way Cam interacted with Zoey and his immediate love for her was heartwarming. No excuses, no anger, just acceptance and love. It was perfect. The attraction between Cam and Emma could be felt throughout the book. I enjoyed the fact that Cam and Emma were accepting of each other just as they were, faults and all. This is truly an entertaining quick read that will leave you with a smile. I highly recommend it.

Emma, the one night she decides to cut loose and prove to herself her ex was wrong and she is not boring; her night ends in a glorious steam fest in Cam Brantley's truck. Cam is deploying again the next day and out at the local bar with his brother when he sees Emma. Their encounter leaves Emma with a lasting impression, now 2 years old Zoey, a blazing ball of energy.
Emma had her life planned out before she got pregnant and though it took her a couple dips and dives here and there, she moved up from being the token clerk to designing the new Mountain Lake resort that Heath and his girl Quinn had purchased, counting on Cam helping out when he came home. Emma doesn't know he's now home for good and she never told him about Zoey. She tried to reach him but knowing he never wanted kids and overhearing him loudly express that to his brother, thought she shouldn't bother. She and Zoey were ok. But seeing Cam again and knowing how news travelled faster than the speed of light in their tiny town, she had to tell him.
I'm not sure how to describe that one, so you have to read the book. But I can tell you that Cam is head over heels in daddyhood with Zoey. Emma isn't quite sure where they stand and Cam isn't very verbal either. But they share a few common loves, the mountains and their little girl.
Cam has some anger issues, leftover from their upbringing, his last tour overseas was a rough one and he's trying to micromanage his anger about that. Not doing too well at it and as so often happens the anger gets misdirected. Emma is the target. He finally train wrecks Emma. Because you know, men only hear every third word if we're lucky or they're totally deaf or don't even wait for an explanation, they just fly off, make lots of noise, grunt and disappear. Cam for the score on the one. Oh what a man, hot as he is, he's still a horses backside.
And that's all I'm saying. You have to read the book to see what happens between them, how the opening of the resort goes, does she take that sweet job offer in Salt Lake? Does he even care? And then there's Grandma Bev, Emma's grandmother. She's comic relief in the book. I loved her.
Reading this book reminds me how much I like reading Cindi Madsen and what a great writer she is.
You'll love this one, it's a great story.

I fell in love with The Bad Boy’s Baby pretty quickly. The blurb had me really interested before I ever read the first sentence. The story line wasn’t original, but the way Madsen writes is amazing. She took a common story line and raised the bar for other writers.

The characters are absolutely amazing! Emma Walker is a hard-working, career woman whose goals were put on hold when she had one hot night with the town bad boy before he was deployed. Since I have struggled through being a single mom, I connected with her immediately. Cam Brantley is the town bad boy who comes from an abusive home then decided to join the Army. I also connected with him because I have several friends in the military going through similar situations. He is traumatized from his last deployment and struggles with seeing the good in himself. Quinn, Cam’s soon-to-be sister-in-law and Emma’s friend/client, is also an amazing character. She is bold, funny, and says everything that comes to her mind.  Grandma Bev, Emma’s grandmother, is one of my favorite characters. She is over 70 years old and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. She is absolutely hilarious.

The story is very well written. I felt the emotions of Emma and Cam as events played out. I wanted to slam my Kindle down and yell at them from time to time when things didn’t play out the way I wanted them to. However, in the end Emma and Cam’s story was beautiful. Cam is very intelligent to be able to see his flaws and try to find ways to deal with them. Emma is a planner and likes to have every possible scenario worked through before a problem arises. Together they are a powerful couple capable of anything.

I would definitely recommend this book. It is a touching story and it can teach readers about understanding. I feel like this story will stick with me for a long time.

The Bad Boy’s Baby by Cindi Madsen was a sweet, heartfelt tugging romance that will be sure to leave readers smiling big. This is the second book that I have read from Cindi Madsen and so I was excited to be reunited with the cast of Hope Springs.

#TheBadBoysBaby

There is something about small town romance that I find so charming and sweet and Ms. Madsen reminded me once again why I enjoy reading her books. In The Bad Boy’s Baby, Ms. Madsen introduces readers to Emma Walker who had a one night stand with the town’s bad boy. And this one night stand led her to being pregnant. Fast forward to two years later, Emma is juggling her career, taking care of her grandmother, and being a mom to her daughter Zoey. With very little time, her love life has taken a back seat. But what happens when the town’s bad boy comes back home for good? How will Emma react when Cam Brantley discovers that he is a father?

When Cam Brantley comes home from the end of his miltary tour, he is welcomed with big news. He is a father. Taken aback by the sudden news, Cam decides that he will step up and be involve in his daughter’s life. While he gets to know his daughter, Cam and Emma soon begin to develop feelings for one another. As their feelings deepen, what happens when Emma is offered a job opportunity in another state? Will Emma be able to leave Cam in pursuit for a better job opportunity or will she chose love?

Like I said before, I really enjoyed reading Cindi Madsen’s books. I love when an author can make her characters lovable from the start and that’s what she did with this book. She allowed readers to see and feel the different perspectives of Cam and Emma. Yes, they could have made different choices in life but these choices led them to become the person they are today. The Bad Boy’s Baby is a sweet, touching romance that weaves second chances and love in such a raw perspective in which allows readers to relate to these flawed characters. With her fresh, light, and clean writing, Cindi Madsen was able to capture a beautiful love story that transpired and united two unlikely people.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this story. Usually secret baby stories aren't my thing, but the story on this one tempted me enough that I accepted it for review. I'm so glad that I did, because the story was excellent.

Cam and Emma had a one night stand the night before he deployed three years ago. They were both drunk, and obviously acting impulsively (Emma was NEVER the type for a one night stand, so even this small town assumes that she got pregnant via IVF). He hasn't been back to town since and after Emma tried half-heartedly to get hold of him through the military, she assumed that she would just do this single parenting thing alone. (Before they hooked up that night, she'd heard him saying he never wanted to have kids, so chances are even if she got hold of him, he wouldn't want anything to do with the baby.) But now he's back and Emma can't not tell him about Zoey. He deserves more than that.

There was so much to love about this book. Emma is in charge of the construction crew building new cabins for Cam and his brother Quinn's new property (although she had no idea Cam was involved when she took the job). Emma was always the quiet, studious one, so taking charge of this group of guys is not an easy thing for her, but she's doing it and excelling...because she wants to be more and have a better life for herself and Zoey. That means stepping up and taking charge. But it's awesome that she wields her power just as well as she does her hammer. She's right in the middle of everything working just as hard as the crews AND building cabins that are HER designs. But this also creates a wonderful ambience for the story...in the woods with the cabins...yes, please.

Cam has just been discharged after a horrible final deployment. He's more than a little wrung out and stressed. The last thing he expects to find when he comes home is a ready-made family...no matter how many times memories of that night with Emma have pulled him through rough deployments. He hoped to connect with her again, but he didn't count on falling in love with Zoey which is exactly what happens. Cam is this huge gruff soldier...watching him melt for this curly headed little two year old completely and totally melted my heart. Cindi Madsen did a wonderful job with the scenes between the two of them.

And then there is Cam and Emma together. Despite having a child, these two truly don't know one another at all. She had a crush on him in high school, but he was the bad boy, she was the nerd who answered all the questions in class. They never ran in the same circles. Despite the awkwardness, they have some incredible chemistry on the page that made this book so fun to read.

This is the third book in the series, and I haven't read the other two, but this completely works as a stand-alone. I couldn't even tell you who was in the other books (maybe Cam's brother?) But never once did I feel like I was missing any background details. The book works beautifully all on it's own. But I may have to go look up the other two anyway just because I did enjoy this one so much.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

ERIN'S REVIEW
5 STARS

This story was everything I was hoping it would be. I love stories about second chances and especially when there is a surprise baby in the mix. I love the feelings and emotions that come out while the characters are dealing with the secrets, the hurt and betrayal, and the new found love. I loved reading about Emma, Cam, and Zoey. Cam has absolutely no idea what he is supposed to do with Zoey, but never once does he back down. I loved the dynamics of this group of people. Emma is a great character. She is a strong woman determined to get what she wants out of life. She has never regretted having Zoey and she always puts her first. Cam is a wonderful man. He rolls with the punches and it doesn’t take him long to realize that he wants his family. If you love surprise baby stories, this should be your next one!

TRACY'S REVIEW
4 STARS

I haven’t read many books by Cindi Madsen so she is still somewhat an unfamiliar author. I loved Cinderella Screwed Me Over so I jumped at the chance to read something else written by her.

Cam wasn’t the boy next door. He wasn’t the boy you brought home to meet your parents. He was the bad boy that you wanted one hot night with, not one that stuck around, especially since he was a solider. Emma got that one night with him and it changed her life forever. But what happens when Cam comes back into town only to realize that the girl he spent that hot night with is now a mom to a beautiful little girl. A little girl that definitely looks like him. Cam needs to put aside his demons and fears and determine what is important to him. The life he never anticipated on having, the life of a dad.

Bad Boy’s Baby was a sweet and fast read for me. I love stories about soldiers finding love and realizing what kind of future they deserve, regardless of their past. I will definitely be reading the other 2 stories in this series soon.

KIM'S REVIEW
4 STARS

This book is sweet, sexy and full of Aww, moments.
Cam Brantley comes from "the wrong side of the tracks" and a less than ideal home situation. He knows all about bad parenting from first hand experience.
He worries that more than just Brantley genes could be passed along so having anything to do with kids is way way on the bottom of his to do list.
Then something expected happens and he's given a gift that he never expected.
Emma Walker has plans for her life. She's smart and driven to make a good future for herself.
What she doesn't expect is to have one night of crazy with her high school crush change everything.
Cam and Emma have alot to figure out and it's not going to be a smooth path.
Little Zoey helps but even she makes things a little hectic.
Sometimes though the greatest gifts are the things that surprise us the most.

Emma has gotten used to her new life, though she still feels overwhelmed at times. But to her it's all worth it because she has Zoey, her adorable two-year-old daughter. Her life hasn't gone as she had planned, but she's making the best of it. Until she runs into him, Zoey's father. But Cam doesn't know he's a father.

Cam is now back in town, after being honorably discharged from the Army, and ready to start the next phase of his life. He just had no idea that phase would include a daughter.

Emma is the site manager for the new lodge that Cam will be running with his brother, Heath, and Heath's fiancée, Quinn. *Oh man, Emma could not have seen that coming.* Cam and Emma both knew at some point they'd eventually run into each other again and both vividly remember their one night together. But that night, for Emma at least, was the one time she took a chance and went after the guy she'd crushed on for years. It was a chance to prove to herself her ex was wrong about her. For Cam, leaving for deployment, it was the chance to be with the girl that had always intrigued him.

Emma knows she could've tried harder to contact Cam with the news, but she also knows how Cam felt about kids, a decision based upon his own childhood. Plus, Emma had some baggage from her own childhood and didn't want to risk subjecting her daughter to feeling unwanted like she had felt her whole life.

How will Cam adjust to having a daughter, something he thought he never wanted? What will Cam and Emma do with the attraction that's still simmering between them? Can Cam and Emma build on that attraction and their undeniable connection and actually be a family? What about Cam's anti-commitment stance? Or Emma's plan to leave Hope Springs to pursue a career with an architectural firm? Will Cam see that Emma is different, that she's loyal, loving, real, and his? What does the future hold for these three?

One-click now and find out what happens when the town's former bad boy and the quintessential good girl take a chance on each other, on being a family. This is a cute story with an interesting premise and seeing Cam fall in love with his daughter is a sweet thing to witness. While this is book of the Hope Springs series, at no time did I feel like I was missing something without having read the prior books. The author gave us enough information on the previous characters so we weren't lost, yet not overly so, making us interested enough so we'd want to go back and read the others. Nicely done.

Cindi Madsen is one of my favorite authors. She has this ability to make readers or at least me, fall for a hero within ten seconds of him showing up on the page. Cam Brantley was no different. While The Bad Boy’s Baby is a standalone read, Cam’s name was mentioned in Crazy for the Competition, his brother Heath’s story. I couldn’t wait to meet the man who served his country and had a brother at home waiting on him to make a combined childhood dream come true. I will be the first to admit the secret baby storyline wasn’t one I expected for Cam’s story. But surprisingly, it worked for me with only minor hiccups.

After being abandoned by his mother and raised by his abusive drunk father, Cam left Hope Springs to join the Army. There, he found a family with his brothers in arms and the structure he was looking for. However, his time in the military has left him with emotional battle scars.

Knowing she was unwanted by her parents, Emma Stone has spent her life trying to go unnoticed and under the radar. Raised by her grandmother, she’s smart, thoughtful, and cautious. Her dream has been to move to the big city and become an architect. But her dreams have always been pushed back for whatever various reasons. Wanting to prove to herself she wasn’t boring, she had one alcohol fueled night with Cam before he left for yet another tour of duty. Her one night of misadventure resulted in her becoming pregnant and keeping the child’s father a mystery.

It’s been three years since Cam was in his hometown of Hope Springs. Now out of the military, he’s ready to live an easy, carefree life and fulfill his childhood dream of running a tour company with his brother. The last thing Emma expected was to show up for work and find Cam on the other side of the door. Now she has to figure out how to tell him about the child he doesn’t know about. One she’s sure he doesn’t want.

What I loved about The Bad Boy’s Baby was Cam’s response to finding out he was a father to a two-year-old little girl and the time he spends with her. I loved the easiness of Emma and Cam’s relationship. Their personalities go well together and complement each other. What I didn’t like was the constant self-doubt they seemed to have with each other and themselves in almost every chapter. The story is pretty straightforward, predictable, and doesn’t hold any surprises. But, it will make you smile in the end.

Adorable story about second chances, about finding your home, your place in the world, learning to see all the possibilities we have within ourselves, and not to judge ourselves, or another by our history.
Because history in the small town of Hope Springs Cam and his family had. History, that he, and the other members of his family, would rather leave behind, but also history, that made Cam to swear, he would never enter into a serious relationship, and never father a child.
Emma's parents gave up their dreams of a better and brighter future, to get married and raise her, and stay in the small town they grew up in. Until they couldn't any longer, and Emma's grandmother took care of her. Now some were afraid, history was repeating itself.
What I loved about the story, was that even though it handles some big issues like abuse and anger issues, and huge emotions like being a parent and falling in love, as well as future plans, it had a very real, kind of raw feeling to it. Cam is still recovering mentally from his discharge from the military. He is trying to build the new business with his brother, and deal with his dad, and now daughter, and Emma... It all is just overwhelming, and so much, and still he handles it well, not perfectly, but well. And they get to know each other, take the time they need in this new situation, and try to fit as well as possible into each other's worlds.
The feelings between Emma and Cam come later, but are powerful, intense, and real. The attraction is filled with passion, and it shows, yet the author doesn't need detailed sex scenes to show this. I loved the tone, the flow, and the rhythm of the story, all making it easy to take in and digest.
Charming, attractive characters, in the midst of a small town living, where there's the perfect balance of meddling and gossip in between taking care of each other when the need arise. Cute as a button little princess, that captures everyone's hearts, and a family of a heart and blood, that finds a way to live with each other, and support each other, on the path they each choose. An entertaining story filled with friends, family, love and laughter, and one very important basket auction

What a fun read! This is also probably more realistic where a guy, Cam, with an abusive father and an absent mother would have anger issues. He is out of the military. He escaped there. Now Cam is back to work with his brother on a lodge in the mountains. Little did he know that he had a two year old daughter.

Emma is the mother of the two year old, Zoey. She is responsible, kind, hardworking and gives back to her community. She also worked hard to get a degree that would take her places. But with a two year old, she is just now finding the courage to find a job outside of her small town to give her daughter a better future. But when she was younger, her ex-boyfriend told her she was boring . So Emma decided to have one daring bold escape and while drunk, she had the courage to be reckless with Cam and Zoey was the product of that night.

Emma didn’t tell Cam. She made a few attempts. She knew he didn’t want any children. She heard him say so. So when he comes back to town, Emma sees him on her project at the lodge not knowing he would be back. Emma tells him. One look at his daughter and he is in love with her. But now what do Emma and Cam do with their growing attraction to each other?

I loved how the two had so much in common. They balanced each other out as well. She calmed his raging storm inside of him. He still has a little anger issue.

I liked how realistic their issues were and how they resolved them together. I loved watching Cam turn into a family man and how he adored his daughter. I loved how Emma was grounded but also aware she had a daughter to provide for. I liked seeing the characters from the other books in the series. I enjoyed the descriptions of the mountains. It made me want to go camping again. I liked the chemistry between Cam and Emma. I sighed at the end.

Emma is a single mother and she loves her little girl. Zoey is the best thing that ever happened to her. When Zoey's father Cam is back from the army to help running a lodge and organized tours he finds out that the person he had one fantastic night with is back in his life and is working with his family. Emma's always had a crush on Cam and treasures the night they shared and doesn't regret it, especially not since it brought her the most precious person in her life. She hasn't told Cam about his daughter and now there's a big problem she has to fix. Will Cam be ready to be a dad and what will spending time together do to Emma, will she be able to stay her calm and collected self while having him around so much?

Emma and Cam are perfect together, but that doesn't mean that when they meet again they immediately pick up where they left off. Cam has been through a lot and he has plenty of issues. One of them is that he doesn't trust anyone with his heart. Emma has a little girl to think of and inviting her father into their lives is complicated enough without the constant worrying if they'd be able to have a steady relationship. Only sometimes the heart is stronger than the mind and they can't stay away from each other. They have great chemistry and I loved the magic between them.

Cam's background gives the story a bit of extra depth, which makes The Bad Boy's Baby an interesting romantic story. Emma has a fantastic grandmother and I enjoyed reading about her adventures. I also liked the dialogue, especially Zoey's. She's such a sweetheart and everyone she meets immediately falls in love with her. Because of this Cam can't stay away from his daughter. There are plenty of heartwarming scenes and the ending is wonderful. If you're looking for a great small town love story, this is definitely a book you should read.

The Bad Boy's Baby is book 3 in the Hope Springs series and can be read as a stand alone. I haven't read the first two but was able to follow the story easily.

Cam Brantley was a notorious bad boy in Hope Springs but he's been away for years while serving in the Army. He's come back to town to help renovate Mountain Springs B & B and cabins with his brother Heath. He plans on leading trips into the nearby mountains once everything is finished but little does he know that his hot one-night stand before shipping out with is the project manager for Mountain Springs.

Emma Walker has one thing on her mind to finish the B & B and move to a big city where she can earn more to provide for her daughter, Zoey and herself. When she arrives at the site, she finds out that Cam is back and that she needs to tell him that he has a daughter. But will he accept that he has a daughter and love her as much as she does.

Once Cam meets Zoey, he's for sure that she is his daughter and decides to he does want to be in her life. I really loved the "Why?" questions that Zoe asked both Emma and Cam and the mud puddle episode brought back childhood memories. There is a second story line with Pete who is helping with the project but its a minor story line. But when Emma and Cam escape to Blue Lake for the week-end and issue a fishing challenge is when I read fell in love with both characters. I'm sure that you'll enjoy the book as much as I did and want to read the previous two books to catch up on Quinn and Sadie (Girl's night out!) and Grandma Bev (who by the way is a hoot with her Bingo episode).

Let the refreshingly romantic sweet book cover entice you to delve into this one, my romance book-loving friends. Except for Cam’s previous mantra of “never want to be a father, because I’m afraid I’ll be like my dad” and bluntly asking the dreaded question, “Are you sure it’s really mine?”, Cam didn’t seem such a bad boy to this NetGalley reviewer. OK, I have to admit I was really hoping Emma would have at least slapped him for saying that to her, but like everything else she has been forced to do since getting pregnant three years ago, she took it like a woman and let him off the hook.

Yes, this was a pretty predictable read, but I found it engaging and romantic to see these too supposedly opposites reconnect and get their HEA with their adorable daughter, Zoe. Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same way.

Title: The Bad Boy’s Baby, Series: Hope Springs (Book 3), Author: Cindi Madsen, Pages: 260, stand-alone, HEA, no love triangle, no cheating, no OW/OM drama, groveling hero.

In this book we follow Cam and Emma .They are so adorable together . Cam founds out that he is the father of Emma very adorable little girl Zoey and this is really where the story takes off . I love how Emma was honest with Cam fairly early in the book about the Zoey . I felt that Cam and Emma dealt with the situation in the best way possible when it Cam to Zoey Seeing there interactions with Zoe was just so wonderful you could see how much Emma and Cam loved there daughter . A fabulous second chance romance and wonderful return to Hope Springs!

Emma is a smart, single mom who is hoping her current job overseeing the renovations at Mountain Ridge will lead to a better opportunity as an architect at a firm in a larger city. Emma had one indiscretion in her life, with longtime crush and town bad boy, Cam Brantley. That one night gave her Zoey, the daughter Cam doesn't know about.

Cam Brantley has just returned home from the military to live out his dream of running Mountain Ridge with his brother, Heath. Cam takes learning of his daughter in stride. Of course there's a little bit of contention but based on his description in the blurb of being a "bad boy", he took the news really well and immediately bonded with his child. Cam's description as a bad boy didn't really seem to be accurate. He was a good guy who jumped into his unexpected responsibility with both feet.

I have loved every book I have read by this author and this one is no exception. Her ability to connect you to the characters and not be able to put a book down until you know how it ends is extraordinary.

This was a sweet story, with a few ups and downs.

We have Cam and Emma, reuniting again after years of no contact. The thing was, the last contact they had created a human being, lol, and Cam had no idea.

From then on, it’s a journey for Cam to not only work to be a better person, but to learn to be a dad, something he thought he never wanted. I have to say, his interactions with his little girl were precious, and you could tell he was on the way to becoming a great dad.

The story also showed the relationship between Cam and Emma and how do they go from here.

Though it was a cute and sweet story, I sometimes felt it needed something more, not sure what. I never saw Cam as a bad guy, and the only bad boy things he did were like in HS. The town needed to get over it.

Still, it was an entertaining read.

This was a sweet and emotionally telling story that will grab at the heart strings. Cam Brantley & Emma Walker had spent one night together before he shipped out for his last tour in the military. Now Cam is home from his latest tour and out of the military. He is shocked to see that Emma is still around in their home town, especially after how things were left between them before.
Emma cant believe Cam is home after all this time like nothing didn’t happen between them. This is the man who rode off into the sunset and left her behind like she meant nothing and when he left with no words, he left behind a significant part of himself in her. Now she has to make a determination whether to tell Cam or not.
This is a beautiful 2nd chance romance about forgiveness, family, 2nd chances and most of all, LOVE. You do not want to pass them gem of a romance up.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

My favorite stories to read are the ones involving surprising twists. There are no road maps in life, it's the little things that determine the directions taken. I received a copy of The Bad Boy's Baby in exchange for an honest review. I'd like to say it was obvious what was going to happen when I went into the story and for awhile that proved to be true. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl has all been done before, but when a child is thrown into the mix it changes the dynamics of the story. In reality as well as on paper a child brings out the true nature of a person. Allowing maturity and heart to factor into decisions more than hormones. The arrival of Zoey was just a step on the ladder to adulthood for Emma and Cam. Cindi Madsen has written a light hearted jewel about love and family.
