He was my brother's best friend, my first crush, my first love...my first everything.
And then he betrayed me.
How many times have I thought about it? How many times have I relived the moment when I found out he left town without ever saying a word?
And how long has the memory of him consumed my every waking thought?
Three years.
That’s how long it’s been since I’ve seen or heard from him, the only man I ever loved.
The man I now despise.
But suddenly, without warning, Landon Hill is back. And to make matters worse, he’s somehow become rich beyond imagination, and he’s opening some mega business in town and walking around like he owns everything in sight.
Including me.
But I’ll never be able to forgive him, even if the fire still rages between us. In the end, I know that he’s never to be trusted. He’s a filthy liar.
While I love this series I don't like that it was only 4 short chapters long. If I had purchased this I would start to think how many more books would I want to read because of the cost. Hopefully the next installment will be longer. Aside from that, I have really enjoyed reading the series and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I would have given it 5 stars but didn't only because of the short length. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted this on another website on May 23, 2016.
I am truly torn. I was enjoying this series SOO much! This is not to say that I hate the series now, I'm just having mixed feelings about it. I'm a big fan of second chance romances and I'm all for giving the guy/girl another chance if they're worthy. The second book ended with a cliffhanger of Taryn meeting Landon's wife!! I've been waiting for this third book to explain this. Nope, Landon is just full out married! Granted he says they aren't "together" and he doesn't want to be with her but still. He tells Taryn she is the woman he really wants. Landon finally explains why he left three years ago and even how he ended up married. Poor Taryn is stuck not knowing what to do because of her past and present feelings. Drama is what makes a good story and believe me this is a good one full of it! I've never encountered a story like this one though. So if you're able to look at the story from the viewpoint of its not real, it's just entertainment, you'll be ok. I just have to know where it's headed next though so I'll be reading book four.

This is the third book in the series that I have read by this author. I loved the characters of Landon and Taryn. After spending a nice evening with Landon, when Taryn opens the front door at Landon’s house, she is shocked at who is standing in the doorway—his wife!! This cannot be true—more mystery and lies from Landon. So Taryn decides to go to Texas for the internship because she is peeved with Landon. Although this upsets her, she is still torn because of her feelings for Landon. Will she continue with her internship in Texas? Landon follows Taryn to Texas to get her to come back. Will Taryn decide to go back to Landon even though he is married? Will Landon’s wife give him a divorce so that he can be with Taryn? Will this be the end of Taryn and Landon? Or is this the straw that broke the camel’s back? I cannot wait to find out what happens to Taryn and Landon.
I am very torn with rating this book. I was enjoying the storyline until this installment. See, it is difficult to believe that Landon loves Taryn so much that he married someone else. A part of me feels Taryn should walk away and forget everything about him. The other part realizes this isn't reality and it does make great drama. Having found out why Landon left three years ago and never contacting her has opened her eyes a little bit. Taryn needs to look after herself for once and achieve her dreams/goals. The only problem is does Landon fit in with where she wants to be? Anxiously waiting to see how Landon proceeds and will Taryn let him back into her heart.
Welp, after getting figuratively slapped in the face by Landon's wife, and giving her brother a piece of her mind, Taryn finally decides to put herself first for once and go after her future with her internship. Looks like Landon can't or won't give up that easily. After tracking her down he says all the pretty, beautiful things that a girl in love with him would want to hear but Taryn isn't falling for it so easily. Time to see what Landon is really made of. He once said that "people don't leave him". Looks like Taryn has done it TWICE! I am really admiring her strength, she readily admits that she would willingly do anything for him given the depth of her love.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. Taryn finds out Landon has a wife and it practically destroys her. I remember in the first book how she went right back to him and I was disappointed. Well in this book she finally tries to free herself from him. She takes the internship that is out of town to get far away from him. Landon will make a play but it's not what you expect to happen.
I don't like to book bash. But this series was a rip off. Books 2-5 didn't go past 50%. 2.99 for books that ended before the halfway point. And why do you suppose? So we would spend another $2.99 to finish the story. One book actually ended at 16%. And another at 27%. Could have been a good story if you didn't feel taken advantage of.
My god give Taryn a break!! Now that her life gets a little bit structure and she can get a shot back at doing what she wants in life to be an chemist Landons wife stands in front of her! Another thing he forgot to mention to her what more secrets does he have in his closet!!
As much as I'm loving this series, the fact that it ended before 20% annoyed me. Waited forever for this book, now I have to wait even longer for more!
