Much better than the first book. A good, well conceived plot of cons, blackmail, murder and money. But I do hope that someone soon gives Alice her comeuppance. She's a nice character and a great delegater but it would be great to actually see her doing her job. It would be great fun to have Shelby's BFF in her position. Since the murder things have been quiet but now she's been told to work on the brick path. What brick path? The one that leads to a forgotten maze and the body of the receptionist at the centre. Plus an old flame of the handyman has appeared. A working girl with high cost items, an ex that won't take no for an answer, a upmarket con, murders, assaults, tunnels and more. Who is the killer? Are there more than one?
Path to Nowhere is a fun, quick to read whodunit in the Shady Acres Mystery series by Cynthia Hickey. The characters are delightful--an unorthodox grandma, a hunk of a handyman, and of course, Shelby, the jilted bride who is Shady Acres' gardener and event planner. Shelby finds a body and the plot thickens. Add into the mix the handyman's ex-fiance and the pages almost turn themselves. With little twists to the plot throughout this zany mystery, the author does a great job of keeping the reader's interest. A good addition to the Shady Acre series. Here's hoping there is a third book in the works. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook. Laurie Lane does a great job narrating the story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. I was not required to write a review and the opinions are my own.
This author has never written a boring or even semi-boring book. You will find yourself chuckling out loud a lot of the time. Just read all of her books😊
Love book 2 of the series! Shelby is again trying to solve a murder. Trouble seems to find her at every turn. These books have fun characters and crazy plot twists!! Fun, easy to read series!
Path to nowhere is the second book in A Shady Acres Mystery series. I absolutely love the characters. The romance between Heath and Shelby is very clean. I love grandma, she is still my favorite character. I look forward to reading the rest to find out what other mysteries Shelby and her family and friends happen upon while living at Shady Acres.
