ok, i remember liking pheme a lot when i read these in my younger years and that still stands after reading this. she is a very flawed character and i think that’s what makes me love her so much though most people hate her.

the story this book tells was an interesting one and i seriously enjoyed the plot + the mythology. the romance was cute and so was this book. highly recommend this series if you like greek mythology and are looking for an adorable, quick, younger read.

I liked Pheme the Gossip, but I didn't think it was amazing. The story lacked the excitement I was expecting. I am a big fan of the Goddess Girls series, but Pheme the Gossip didn't live up to the series. I would give Pheme the Gossip 4 stars because it was an okay story, but it is apart of the Goddess Girls series.

Pheme ist dafür bekannt Klatsch und Tratsch zu verbreiten und endlich erfahren wir auch woher sie immer die brisanten Geheimnisse der anderen Schüler kennt, sie schnüffelt heimlich in ihren Räumen rum. Aber diesmal wird sie erwischt und ist damit einverstanden als Strafe einen Tag keine Gerüchte zu verbreiten. Leichter gesagt als getan. Als die Erde plötzlich in Gefahr gerät ist es an Pheme sie vor dem Untergang zu bewahren!!

Endlich kam ein Buch nur für Pheme raus. Ich finde sie so toll und sie hat auch ihr eigenes Buch verdient. Auch finde ich ihre Freundschaft zu Medusa richtig toll. Medusa wird von allen so missverstanden, dabei ist sie doch so nett, jedenfalls zu Pheme und Pandora.

Pheme ist für mich neben Pandora und Persephone, wenn man nach den Covern geht, eine der hübschesten Figuren. Sie sehen so niedlich aus. Auch find ich die Handlung um Pheme und Eros super schön, die Beiden passen so toll zusammen. Ich hoffe über sie kommt auch noch mal ein Buch.

Fazit: Pheme ihre Geschichte fand ich super spannend und sehr lustig. Pheme ist ein super interessanter Charakter und in ihr steckt mehr als es den Anschein hat. Die Handlung was sehr schön und die Figuren sind einfach zu niedlich. Das Cover ist einfach der Hammer und ist zu meinem Lieblings Cover der ganzen Reihe geworden!!

Another great goddess girl book. Similar to Harry Potter, but set at Mount Olympus Academy instead of Hogwarts, and featuring an all-star cast of characters from Greek Mythology, this series has been a delightful romp through the timeless tales. This book features Pheme, the goddess of gossip and rumor, as she attempts to save the world from the reckless and possibly destructive antics of Phaeton, mortal son of the sun god, Helios. This one was very interesting, and even featured appearances by Pegasus and the Fates, or the Gray Ladies, as they are described in the book. Very fun!

Pheme looks and acts much more different than I expected from reading the earlier books in the series. Seeing inside her head makes all the difference. I still don’t love this book as much as I ought. This is a perfectly fine yet forgettable retelling of the Phaeton myth, and I do like the ending, but this book lacked something the Goddess Girl books surrounding it had. Maybe it was because I have not seen Pheme in any other mythology book yet.

Another Goddess Girls triumph. I love it when we get to meet other characters other than Athena, Artemis, Aphrodite, and Persephone. Pheme is the perfect gossiper and I love how she uses her talents for the greater good in this book.

At First Sight: As the Godess Girl of Gossip and Rumor, Pheme sees it as her duty and job description to get into everyone's business and report on it, often before she thinks of the consequences of her tales.

Currently, Pheme is trying to get into Principal Zeus' good graces so he'll write her a recommendation letter so she can apply to a job in Teen Scrollazine, the hottest magazine around.

All she needs is a really good piece of information to take to Zeus. Good for her that she's the girl's floor hall monitor and gets to snoop around quite a bit in that capacity, even if she shouldn't exactly.

Second Glance: If Pheme the Gossip proves one thing is that it's very hard to like a gossip, and I'm sad to say I never got quite there with Pheme.

See, when Medusa and Pandora - two girls that the original 4 goddess girls didn't have the highest regard for - took center stage, it took me but a couple of chapters to feel these waves of empathy toward both girls, to care for them. Medusa has had it pretty rough and more than mean, she lacks social graces and acceptance; Pandora can't help to be curious, but she honestly doesn't mean any harm by it.

Pheme can't help to gossip because... well, she likes being the center of attention. That's pretty much it. We get hints of her past story but it's never explored enough as it to actually make a difference. And, in the end, I kind of felt like Pheme was being rewarded without quite learning her lesson.

Bottom Line: *sigh* I guess I'm not meant to be friends with Pheme. Was it bad? not really. Writing was light and fluffy as ever, and kept a brisk pace. I'm still a huge an of the series, and I'm still REALLY looking forward to Persephone the Daring and Cassandra the Lucky, but to me Pheme was a bump in an otherwise smooth road.

Being in the know? Or being able not to know?

Pheme suspects (believes) that the only way of life is gossip. Also that her goddess girl talent of gossip is often misjudged and that it is more useful than others may estimate it to be. However trouble boils over when Pheme sneaks into Athena's dorm room and reads her diary with a spell on it specifically for Pheme. It is up to her to raise the red-handed curse that she has brought upon herself. Just when Pheme thinks things couldn't get more complicated her crush, Eros may have a liking in her and want to talk, but Pheme is usually trearted awkwardly as one of the most umpopular girls at school and don't know how to handle it. On top of that Pheme has been yearning for a job that she can spread all the latest and juiciest knews in and be able to show her talent in, but she needs principal Zues' approval so she can't possible let hiom know about her previous slip ups. Oh! And there may also be a boy who claimes to be the son of the sun god and is obsessed with chariots. How is Pheme to handle this all and come out ALIVE?!

I personally loved the book because I was able to understand it's unique message and fun plots and twists. I also can appreciate how the book isn't about the usual main characters and we can see this specific character from her own perspective and not the opinions of the other characters talked and read about throughout the story.

I would reccomend this book to practically everyone who likes a good book. This book is a fantastic book of romance and of accepting yourself for who you are and knowing how to use your inner gifts the right way. Anybody who needs a good piece of advide will love this book and also cherish the memories made with the characters and while reading about them.

Hmm...finally get to know a little more about Pheme! Not a goddess I'm familiar with. I'll admit it took a while to get used to her, she was a bit pesky and annoying at first, but...goes to show that even gossip has its uses.

Pheme is a known gossip at Mount Olympus Academy and is caught literally red-handed when snooping through Athena's diary during her dorm monitor duties. Through Athena's spell, Pheme's hands are now red and everyone knows that Pheme's reputation as a gossip is the truth. As punishment Athena casts an additional spell where Pheme is unable to gossip for 24 hours - her words come out as hilarious animal sounds or as total gibberish. However, Pheme somehow has to warn Principal Zeus that new student Phaeton plans to take his father Helios's (sun god) chariot and as an unexperienced chariot rider, Phaeton could destroy Earth. This is one of the best (and funniest) books in the series.

This book was pretty good, not my favourite in the series, but not my least favourite either. I loved the concept of Pheme having to not-gossip for one whole day, and how Eros helped her deal with it. Phaeton was a good character and I liked his whole storyline and stuff. Pheme was good in this one too.

I loved Eros' character and the fact that he has wings and everything, but I'm getting a little tired of the fact that in EVERY book the main character has to have a crush. It's just getting repetitive and boring. I mean, they're written well but it's getting kind of old.

Athena was great in this book and I liked the relationship Pheme has with her and the other goddessgirls. Although I thought it was unfair what Aphrodite said in the following scene:

'"I'm the goddessgirl of gossip, remember? Asking me to stop snooping for gossip is like asking you [Athena] to stop being brainy. Or Aphrodite to stop being beautiful. Or Persephone to stop growing flowers." [said by Pheme]
Aphrodite sniffed. "That's a cop-out. Beauty and brains don't hurt people. Gossip does." ...'

I mean, yes gossip may hurt people, but Pheme can't help being goddessgirl of gossip and it's just who she is, she can't help if it hurts people or not.

This was a very enjoyable book and I liked the way Pheme resolved the problem and what Zeus gave to her at the end. :)

In my opinion, this is one of the very best book series out there for younger girls, and this a great addition to the series. I love getting to know the other girls besides the main four Goddess Girls. They all have a little something different to add, and a little bit of quirkier personalities!

Some may think, what good can come from gossip? But the authors have found away to explain that in moderation, gossip can actually be helpful. Pheme is trusted by Zeus to be his eyes and ears around Mount Olympus Academy. He wants to be the first to know if there is any suspicious activity. While Pheme does take it to an extreme at times, she and her friends learn that her job is important. By always being watchful, she can tell when something suspicious is going on that may cause harm to the students (and in this case-the world!). It's also important for her to 'gossip' about it, or to let Zeus know asap.

I love seeing the supporting girls from The Goddess Girls get their own books! It's so fun to read about their different personalities!

Pheme the Gossip by Joan Holub

The book I read is called Pheme the Gossip. I chose this book because Ive read all of the other Goddess Girls books and I really liked them. When I started to read this book I thought it was about her not gossiping.


I love the format of these books. They leave you thinking about the characters. I liked how it seems like a fairytale. The book tells about them casting spells and being magical. These books a interesting because they are based off of Greek stories.


I liked this book because it was very fun to read. I didn't want to stop reading. I liked that this book had a lot of mystery's . The mystery was about if Pheme was going to get banned from the school of MOA. This book talked about the other goddess girls to such as Athena, Aphrodite, and Artemis.


I recommend this book to girls who like fairy tales. I am going to read this book again. I will also read the other books in the series. It is very interesting and fun. I loved this book

This is the tenth in the Goddess Girls series, the first from Pheme's point of view. At first (before reading) I wasn't looking forward to Pheme's book as she is a little nosey (understatement). It's great when the minor characters get their own book as we see them from a different perspective and this one was no different. Pheme didn't really seem much like Pheme for parts of this book. The last line fixed it all for me though - great stuff. The introduction/development of Phaeton and Eros was fun to watch but can't we just have one of these books where the main focus is not LOVE. Man it's boring after a while.

It was unfair when Aphrodite said that beauty and brains don't hurt people but gossip does - beauty and brains CAN and DO hurt people, sometimes even more than gossip. Trust Aphrodite to say something like that "I'm perfect and you're wrong" She is annoying!

As always I love the take on classic greek myths - nicely done! Another cool story from authors who have already proved they can write for children.
