Very dense and relatively short, the book provides a lot of potential options to explore for those impacted by auto-immune conditions. The one primary failing of the text is that many assertions are made without clear references to studies or supporting academic research. Assertion does not equal fact, and I would have preferred a text laden with footnotes than one that forgoes them almost entirely within the flow of reading the main text.
The book was so-so, some decent information but I have some issues with the book. A lot of fix your gut talk but not a lot of detail as to how you should really do it - I mean I need step by step instructions because I have no clue. Gives off the impression that medications are the devil - and I understand the “over-medicated” side of things - I am feeling that way personally right now - but also know some are a necessary evil. Also on the vaginal birth vs cesarean, she really pushes the vaginal birth is better deal - I had all of my children vaginally but had there been something that happened and A c-section was necessary I Wouldn’t have thought twice - you do what you have to do for a healthy delivery - I think she’s pushing the envelope with the whole “doctors push c-sections because they have better liability coverage in case something happens” or maybe it’s because they want mom and baby to survive - just sayin she lost me on that one....
Dr. Rasa covered every avenue of healing for someone struggling with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Dr. Rasa is not only highly qualified to write on this subject as a physician; she also understand this autoimmune disease from a patient's perspective. Her research was thorough and she offered many resources to the reader to expand his own knowledge. I found this book extremely helpful.
The author guess over several remedies for healing the gut and thyroid disorders, spanning from diet and lifestyle changes, to proper exercise, vitamin supplementation and essential oil use. I took a lot of notes and was happy to read so many things in here that my own MD had recommended.
In no time at all, the reader will discover or confirm important knowledge beneficial to one's health. Become your own health advocate, know what questions to ask and what lab tests are essential for YOU; not what your insurance provider deems as ' standard practice.'
I understand the diagnosis after reading this book. Dr. Rasa broke everything down to a level I could understand. I understand my symptoms more since I read this book.
One doesn't have to have Hashimoto's to appreciate this book. It is well researched, and the author does a great job taking a complicated subject and explaining it in an easily digestible manner. The brain-gut connection is real, and this book helps with understanding how to take care of that very critical relationship.
This is a good resource for anyone who is struggling with understanding thyroid disease. Speaks in layman's terms and provides dietary and holistic approaches to healing leaky gut and hashimoto's.
