Rate this book
From the bestselling author, Bobby Andrews, comes a thrilling new tale of a post-apocalyptic world. ISIS has unleashed a weaponized version of the deadly Ebola virus, killing 97% of the world’s population. Only the immune and those who hunkered down in remote locations remain.
Through the chaos strides a giant of a man known only as Stryker. He is a former Force Recon Marine, who has lost as much as anyone, but fights to preserve his honor and creed in the face of slave traders and rogue military elements who prey on the innocent. Together with his former Drill Instructor, Sarge, they struggle to eliminate the remaining evil elements in society, even as the nation’s infrastructure crumbles and life becomes considerably more difficult. Together, they care for three young women who survived the plague and attempt to give them lives that are as normal as possible under the circumstances.
Follow along as they travel through a world gone mad, determined to defend the weak and innocent against long odds.

Good Premise, so so execution

No retired marine staff nco goes by sarge. LAWs were replaced by AT4's but the author uses them interchangeably. The timeline is a little mixed up as in his first deployment after training he's a corporal and ends up in charge of his platoon. Since most force recon marines are on their second enlistment their Nco heavy. Also a few holes inn the plot as the left together to rescue the girls in sarges f150 but the return in both vehicles with his jeep that they left behind. This could have been fixed with them just grabbing another vehicle. Also the interpersonal are stilted and awkward. The dialog doesn't flow well and is a bit jarring. With a good editor though it could really be something.

Good start to what appears to be a series. A few errors (like Haley being referenced as speaking when she was not in the car when they took Jenna home) but I like the writing style. I also like crabby heroes like Stryker. The jumping around in time periods threw me off a bit but it did get the more complete backstory told.

Good

The main character should be wearing a big S on his chest. He is too prefect to be a real man. (I know this is fiction).
Aside from that it is good read. Liked all the other characters and the plot is very good.

Stryker is the first book in a series. This should not be read as a standalone as it is clear from the ending that the story still continues. There is violence. The storyline has an interesting premise and it makes you think about what you would do if this happened.

Great read. Perfect balance!

Short descriptions perfect character development no wasted words! The story doesn't go so slow that you lose attention and the action builds slow but steady.

This was an interesting story with some pretty solid characters. I enjoyed the build up into the story however this still has many loose ends which I hope are dealt with in the following books.

""...where love goes to die""
It has taken me a while to write my review because, as soon as I finished listening to the book I wanted to go back to the beginning and start again. The book is carefully crafted, and mostly set against a backbround devastated by a mutated Ebola virus which destroys some 97% of the population world wide But as the title suggests, it is really about Stryker, who he is, where he comes from and how he reacts. Our introduction to him is immediate, two years after the plague struck, then by moving backwards in time we follow his earlier life as well as being privy to how and why the virus was so devastating. There is a feeling of unreality about the man and his world. Perhaps it is because I am a Brit and the vast spaces of isolation through which he moves just couldn't happen in this, our overcrowded little island, even with only 3% of the population remaining. And, of course, not many of us have access to guns ( though I suppose if the need was great enough, we'd find a way). But more than that: the man himself was exceptional. I didn't like him but still found myself forming an emotional attachment to him.

Kevin Pierce's narration was perfect, his voice fitting the picture of Stryker in my head. What little dialogue there is from other people is not greatly differentiated, making this more a reading than a performance, but this, too, fits with the overall feel of the book. loved the almost serene atmosphere which prevailed throughout, despite the often traumatic events taking place or anticipated. It is a world in shock with Stryker moving strongly through it. The ending was one of loss. As I said previously, it took me back to the beginning.
I received a complementary copy of Stryker from the narrator, via Audiobook Boom, in exchange for my unbiased review thoughts. These I have given

Even though this is a shorter book, it didn't feel like it. A lot of shorter books leave you feeling like something was skipped or left out. That is not the case here. There is a lot of story packed into this book. Suspenseful, interesting, sometimes humorous and enjoyable.

When you think about everything going on in the world today the premise of this book is scary.

The story starts 2 years after the die off or the apocalypse. There are flashbacks to Stryker's past when the plague first started showing what he went through. Stryker has been alone for the most part since that time. When his former drill instructor arrives needing his help Stryker's world is changed again.

Stryker has great taste in music even if it's only in his head.

Just when the story was getting really good it ended. The dreaded cliffhanger. How soon will book 2 be out.

Kevin Pierce did a great job with the narration as usual. He has the perfect voice for the alpha male ex-military hard**s. Great for this type of story. He has one of those voices that you never get tired of listening to. Good character voices even the females. Clearly spoken. Smooth delivery. Nice even pace. All around great job.

Out of the blue comes an exciting, adventurous tale of apocalyptic proportions. Stryker is bigger than life at times, but it adds to the excitement and tone of the story. A weaponized Ebola virus is turned loose on the world killing 97% of the population. Those that are immune are left to deal with the creators of this diabolical plan; for starters to take over North America and her riches to make their own. Stryker a Force Recon Marine and his brother-in-arms Sarge are two such ideological men standing in the breech to repel the evil that arises in such situations and protect those in harms way. Slave traders, marauders, and ultimately invading ISIS forces are pitted against Stryker's ideals and sense of duty. Stryker's crew may be unconventional, but they are determined and well led. Evidently this is book one of a series. I look forward to additional episodes.

Alex Jones would jerk off with this one

Great story. This is the sort of fantasy that mush for brains people like Alex Jones confuse with reality. Still, if you're brain isn't comprised of oatmeal, you'll be engrossed.

STRYKER'S POSSE

Interesting adventure about biological warfare that includes modern day terrorists group(ISIS). When you think about how this devastation came about(scary)it has happened but not like this. Persons injected with Thalium(horrible death). it's spread through touching and how many things a day we touch I would describe this as a soft assault, something you wouldn't expect. Some of the population were immune to the effects through genes and the distance from populated metropolitan areas. GREED, ANGER and REVENGE of a scientist who was bullied throughout his life who adapted a passive aggressive altitude while altering the EBOLA VIRUS many times to become a TRUE mega
pandemic death for USA only. This is scary and I wouldn't put it pass any TERRORISTS to do this
type of devastation....Makes you wonder...right

The book centers around a former military man who is the perfect "Hero".The premise of the book is that Isis purchased a weaponized Ebola virus which kills 97% of the worlds population. The Hero protects his group and tries to create a sustainable future.I really don't care much for "Heros" and prefer flawed and relatable main characters. The cliffhanger at the end of the book jumped the shark and left me baffled. The narraration was good and portrayed the characters well.I received an audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest reveiw.

Loved it!

Gripping and an excellent read! I'll be anxiously awaiting for next book. The Ebola virus is more devastating than an EMP. If fate was on your side and you survived, you'd wish for nothing!

I am a big Bobby Andrews fan. Have to say, this is his best book.

Stryker is the man. Moral. Considerate. A Marine. An American. Looking forward to part 2. There is going to be a part 2?

Right now I'm into Apocalyptic stories. This one has interesting characters and a fairly solid story line. The main character is a complex man of violence and high morale values.

Well written for first in the series. Enjoyed it. If a little disappointed the foraging wasn't a bit more strategic. All in all look forward to the full series.
