This book was so good until the 70% mark because the author rushed it after the 70% mark after the hero and heroine have sex and ruined it. The conflict was not stretched out for its worth.

Best friends since kids and great friendships and small town and a lot of great chemistry. Wow I thought i was in a great read and end my romance book slump.

I might start on the first book in the series to compare.

I don't normally read NA romance, and I should have remembered that when I picked this up, but it was a freebie and I thought I'd give it a chance. Typical new adult style romance with two younger twentysomethings who both like the other but are too dense to figure that out. They both came across as little more than teenagers in their inner dialog and the way they acted around each other. DNF at 35%.

Convincing Cara was awesome; I loved the childhood crush theme in this book.

Cara and her friends cracked me up, they really have each other’s backs and it's sweet how they wanted to help Cara pop her cherry. Her list hahaha how perfect that she described Trace to a tee! All but that one deal breaker.

I enjoyed the chase Trace had to go through it was fun to see him sweat it out just a little. But that he woke up in the end and made his feeling known. There wasn’t this long drown out thing it was what it was.

Her dates were hilarious and if that is how it is nowadays I am so glad I am happily married. Lol

I really, really, like Virginia Rose’s voice how she brings you into the story I like it all and Aiden seriously if you haven’t heard a book by him you’re missing out.

The cover is exactly how I see Cara and Trace. This story is a sweet girl next door romance with lots of laughs thrown in.

Cara is the next in Wishing Well looking for her HE A. She's been dealt a blow in her youth but is finally in remission. She's stayed strong and ready to have some fun. Trace has been waiting in the wings for the opportunity to finally get his girl.

The couple took longer then I hoped to get to realize that they should give their relationship a go. They made an adorable couple once they finally shared their feelings and expectations.

Jacob has a way with words and I'm glad he was finally able to say what was in his heart. I loved his I love you moment.

Looking forward to the next in the series.

I was given a copy for a honest review.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Both Cara and Trace have been in love with each other since childhood but neither said anything. After Cara gets a clean bill of health, she decides that she wants to start dating and Trace wants to tell her how he feels. I had so many emotions while reading this book! I laughed out loud and smiled like an idiot! Cara is an amazingly strong woman and Trace....I just don't have words to say how much I loved him! Together they were perfect. I can't wait for more stories in this series! I would definitely recommend this book!

Convincing Cara by Melanie Shawn was a great addition to the Wishing Well series. Cara is such a sweetie and after dealing with the possibility of reoccurring cancer, she definitely deserved a great story. Trace is another of Harmony's sexy brothers, and even though they've had it bad for each other for years, they had to work hard to make it work for their HEA. Definitely my favorite of the series so far. Can't wait for Harmony's story.

I have to start by saying I am a HUGE fan of these ladies...they never disappoint. Trace and Cara were amazing together. They were both strong characters and the secondary characters were just as great. I truly love this series. This book made me laugh and cry and has everything I enjoy in a great book!!! Looking forward to Harmony's book next. Well done ladies!!!

2.5 stars. This just wasn't my cup of tea. The characters were too flat and the ending was too sudden. 50 more pages could have turned this into a decent book.

Honest review for free arc.
I adore a well-written series and this book continues the beautiful stories of Wishing Well.
Cara was diagnosed with cancer when she was a child. She fought it for years and is finally cancer-free. But "adult" Cara has missed out on so much. School dances, high school sporting events, birthday parties, dating, and losing her V card. She is now ready to find out what all the hoopla is about, but it needs to be with someone who isn't familiar with her life history. That rules out any local guys, especially the guy she has been in love with forever, because Trace Briggs in the brother of her best friend, AND he knows her story. So her friends begin to set her up with dates, so Cara can begin feeling comfortable dating and hopefully along the way, lose her V card. But the dates, although set up with the best of intentions, went horribly.
Trace Briggs has been in love with Cara since they played spin the bottle years ago, but with Cara's illness, Trace was always in the fringe of activity. He would drive his sister to the hospital to visit Cara, hoping he might get some time to visit, too. He set up the school talent show in her front yard because Cara couldn't attend and Trace didn't want her to miss out. He and the football team shaved their heads for Cara's 14th birthday gathering after Cara had lost all of her hair. But Cara had no idea that Trace had set up all of these special things for her.
Trace works for Cara's brother, who is a reality star and is often gone. Colton has to leave and asks Trace to stay at the farm to keep an eye on Cara. Trace's dream is coming true. One night after Cara and the girls had been celebrating Cara's health news, Trace gave Cara a ride home. In a drunken state, Cara shared a lot of info with Trace, including the fact that she was ready to give up her virginity. Trace decides this is the opportunity of a lifetime. After another date with another loser, Trace volunteers to help her out. They "agree" not to get hooked on each other and no one else could ever know, but they begin to spend their nights together. Trace is slow and gentle with Cara, and Cara is an advanced learner, but of course, since they already have feelings for each, their passion is explosive.
Wishing Well is filled with wonderful characters and it's easy to lose yourself in this lovely setting.

Cara, Destiny, and Harmony were best of friends and used to cal themselves Charlie’s Angels when they were young. Cara has fought cancer and survived. She has been deemed cancer free. The problem is that she never got to do the normal things that most teenagers did growing up. One of those things is that she is still a virgin. She has decided that she needs to do something about it. Cara is embarrassed of her port scar from the chemo, so she has decided that she wants her first time with a stranger. Even though she is in love with Trace, one of Harmony’s brothers. She has loved Trace since she was a child, but has not told anyone. Cara’s parents are dead and she lives on the farm with her older brother Colton. Trace and his brother Travis work on the farm helping Colton. So getting back to losing her virginity, Destiny and Harmony decide they need to make a list of there person Cara would like to give her virginity to. Once the list is completed, Harmony looks at it and says that the sounds like Trace except for the person being a stranger. Of course Trace is the person Cara would love to be with. Trace has never let on that he has been in love with Cara since she was young. He has waited for her while she was fighting for her life. He sees the list the girls wrote up, but his sister grabs it before he sees that she does not want to be with someone she knows. Cara’s friends decide to set her up on some dates. Trace is not happy about this, but he wants her to have time to do some of the things she was never able. Some of the dates she goes on are hilarious! Trace gets a chance to get closer to Cara and takes it. You need to read the book to see what happens.

Cara is such a sweet girl and does not have much confidence because of what she has gone through. Trace is the guy you would love to have fall in love with you. The writing is great and I had so many emotions reading the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I read the first book, so it was nice seeing what some of the characters have been up to. I encourage you to get the book and read the series. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I was given the book for an honest review.

"Convincing Cara" is written by Melanie Shawn, and it is the 2nd book in the Wishing Well, Texas series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Trace Briggs and Cara McCord.

Cara is finally cancer-free! She's always liked Trace ever since she was a little girl, and even though he meets the criteria of who she wants to date, there's one thing that doesn't make him fit that list... he knows she had cancer. She doesn't want that little tidbit to affect how the guy treats her. And not only that, but she knows Trace is not a relationship type of guy.

Sure, Trace hasn't stayed in relationships long. But there's a reason why. He's always loved Cara ever since the first time he laid eyes on her. The only thing holding him back from announcing his feelings for her was because she had cancer. He saw her cry. He saw her weak. He saw her have chemo. He just wanted to be there for her any way he can -- by supporting her and being a friend. He didn't want his romantic feelings to get in the way. He wanted to make her smile and be happy.

But now, it's a different story! Trace wants to date Cara. He knows she's the one, and he will do anything to prove that. Cara's friends may be setting her up on dates, but Trace knows better. Cara and him have history. They have chemistry.

The sisterly duo of Melanie and Shawna did such an awesome job writing Trace and Cara's story! I was anticipating their story since we were introduced to both their characters in "Teasing Destiny," and it definitely didn't disappoint! Trace will make you swoon! He is so smitten when it comes to Cara! Meanwhile, Cara is such a brave, strong, and yet, vulnerable heroine. Sometimes, her past of having cancer gets the best of her, but Trace shows her that it made her who she is today. She overcame a battle, and she should be proud of that. I have nothing, but praises for "Convincing Cara"! It was just so good! Readers will not want to put this book down!

Convincing Cara is the newest installment of Melanie Shawn’s new Wishing Well Series that takes place in Texas. We’re once again thrown into a small town with a group on friends and siblings each making their own way through their happily ever afters. Convincing Cara is based on Cara and Trace who have both been in love with each other since childhood but have never expressed their feelings to each other.

Cara is on a mission….to lose her virginity. She didn’t get to experience all the things typical teenagers and young adults go through. She missed out on so much because she was busy fighting for her life for over 10 years battling cancer. Luckily she survived and now that she is cancer free she wants to start living and experiencing all the things she missed out.

Trace has a mission of his own, to convince Cara he is the man she should be with. He's has been in love with Cara since they were children. He first laid eyes on her with her hair glowing in the sun running through a field with his sister, her best friend. Ever since she was diagnosed with cancer he’s had to sit on the sidelines while she fought for her life. All those years he wanted to be with her, to hold her, to tell her how much he loved her but he couldn’t. Now that she’s ready to date and start living all he wants to do is show her he is the man for her.

Trace is Cara’s perfect fit in every way. The only problem is that Cara wants to be with someone who doesn’t know her past. She doesn’t want to be with someone who’s going to label her as the girl who had cancer and who won’t see her for who she is.

Will Trace and Cara realize that their feelings have been mutual all these years? Will Cara trust Trace to give her everything, heart body and soul, to him? Melanie Shawn delivers with this witty, sweet, and sexy installment to their new series. They have the ability to draw you in and get you lost in the world of Wishing Well with these wonderful characters. If you're looking for a light, fun and romantic read then you've found the right book.

Poignant, sweet, emotional story, that left me reeling and in tears, desperately needing a moment to recover, like a great story does.
I love Melanie Shawn's stories, there's an amazing mix of real, raw life, deep feelings, and the kind prefect happily-ever-after-kind-of-love, that only is in fairy tales, and it is all bound together in such a way, that you connect with your mind and emotions to the tales and characters, that you feel like you know them, are part of their lives, and they are the people you want to do life with. So when one of these tales comes to an end, I am in desperate need of that moment, hugging my Kindle, and marking down when the next installment comes out.
I don't remember when I have been so emotionally touched, as I was at the end of this story. I don't want to give anything out, but know that Trace and Cara have one of a kind connection. They have loved each other since their childhood, the friendship that has formed over their lifetime is special, and deep, the fact that Cara has got a new chance with life makes it more, in every possible way.
I loved how Trace was with her, caring, protecting, loving Cara, just wanting to see her smile, laugh, to be happy.
They have some obstacles, they have to overcome, but together they have more determination, stubbornness, and will than most small towns.
But it is not only the love story that made the tale so swoon worthy, it is also the friends, that are there for you, willing to go the extra mile for you, and even make you momentarily uncomfortable, if it means happiness in the long run.
And the family, that even though not perfect, still has each other's back, understands each other, support each other, and open their arms to you, when needed.
When loving each other is as natural as breathing, when you have waited your lifetime to finally declare your feelings, and you are willing to ride the bumpy ride, to see, if future together is a possibility for you two - A breathtaking, tear trekking, ardent, and heartfelt story

Another fantastic addition to the Wishing Well, Texas series by Melanie Shawn! I always know that when I get a Melanie Shawn book I'm going to be getting a great story and will definitely be entertained!

Trace Briggs and Cara McCord have known one another since they were kids. Trace is one of eight kids who had a rambunctious, but fairly normal, (for having so many siblings!) upbringing. He now works with Cara's brother at the ranch and while he has a reputation for being a serial dater, he really only has eyes for one woman.

Cara's childhood was less than idyllic when she was diagnosed with a form of juvenile leukemia. She fought the good fight and she won. It has been five years since her last treatment and she finally has heard the words "cancer free." Now that Cara has reached this milestone, she decides it's really time to start living life and one of the first things to check off of her list is losing her virginity. Her caveat? She doesn't want it to be anyone that knows anything about the fact she had cancer.

While Cara is being set-up on dates by her best friends Destiny and Harmony, Trace watches from the sidelines, where he has been for most of his life where Cara is concerned. He makes the decision that he's ready to go after the one thing he's always wanted and Cara's brother asking him to stay at the ranch while he is out of town provides the perfect way for Trace to start making his move. Will Cara decide to give Trace not only her virginity, but also the chance to have her in his life for the long haul? Or, will these two be unable to communicate what they really want, leading to heartache?

I always enjoy visiting the small towns that Melanie Shawn creates. They are fun, family oriented, and romantic. What more can you ask for? I'm looking forward to Harmony's story next!

Disclaimer: I was gifted an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second in the Wishing Well Texas series by Melanie Shawn and just like the first it is a great story of a big Texas family in a small town with wonderfully nosy friends and neighbors. Cara, Destiny and Harmony have been friends forever and know each other’s secrets…except for one….. Cara has been in love with Harmony’s brother, Trace, since they were in elementary school.

Cara has recently been declared “cancer free” after a battle with leukemia. Due to her childhood illness, she has missed out on many of the things that girls normally experience in growing up. Trace has watched her battle her disease and sees her strength and determination in overcoming it. Her two best friends are determined that now Cara is free to live her life and they want to find someone who will be her “first lover.” She wants her first to be someone who does not know her and who might feel sorry for her due to her cancer so they come up with a list of traits the potential suitor must have.

In spite of all the matchmaking efforts of her friends, Cara’s heart is not in it and her dating attempts are disastrous and comical as well. Unknown to Cara, Trace is in agony watching her date other men when he wants to be her “first.” He has a secret too… He has been in love with her since she first started spending time with Harmony. But he is friends with her brother and is not sure he wants that secret to be revealed.

This is a sweet story of small town life and love.. By the time you reach the end of the book, you will find yourself rooting for them to find their way to each other and their HEA!

Sweet, romantic, heartwarming, laugh out loud hilarious

Cara has had a rough child hood, after spending most of her teenage years battling cancer she is now considered cancer free and ready to make up for lost time. When Cara confides in her best friends that she is ready to start dating and experience life everyone wants a chance to fix her up with the perfect man. The only problem is Cara already knows who the perfect man is. Trace has been in love with Cara since childhood. After Cara’s diagnosis Trace decided to put his feelings on the back burner and focus on being the best friend he could be. Now that Cara is putting cancer behind her Trace is ready to make his move, the only question is will he make it in time?

This is a book that will make you feel warm and fuzzy from beginning to end. Cara will reach out and grab your heart from the first page and never let it go. Trace’s love and devotion to Cara will pull at your heart strings until the very last word. Watching these two dance around their attraction for each other is beautiful, funny and sometimes down right frustrating; because you just want them to find their HEA. Cara and her friends will have you laughing until you cry discussing first date horror stories and men in general.

Make sure to clear you day because from page one you will be hooked and you will not be able to put this book down until the last page. Grab your favorite cocktail, something sweet and get ready to binge read like you never have before.

Melanie Shawn has been one of my favorite authors since I was introduced to her Crossroads Series and then the Hope Falls Series. Now we are into the second book of yet another fabulous series, the Wishing Well, Texas books and this series is definitely not disappointing! This is another red-hot series based on friendship into love! I can't say it enough, the Melanie Shawn duo amazes with every book they write and they just keep getting better and better! I have always been enamored with the characters and story lines written by Melanie Shawn. This love story especially was so heartfelt and sweet, I just melted throughout the book with every page turn. I definitely didn't want it to end, like most every book I read by Melanie Shawn. I loved the story-building in this book. I also again have to complement the chemistry and crazy heat, all the things that make Melanie Shawn's books so amazing. I loved this set of characters, Cara and Trace are so good together and Cara is so very strong! I felt like I really got to know these characters and what made them tick. I was fully vested in their HEA! Melanie Shawn has an ability to keep readers engaged in the story. I want to live in this town, with these people and be friends with them. All of Melanie's books have the perfect blend of romance, sex and plot! This book definitely made me swoon! I can't wait to read Harmony's story up next, Discovering Harmony!

WOW! This book had some major sexual tension between Cara and Trace. The angst of being love and not confessing your feelings was felt throughout the book. Loved it!

Cara has been through hell and back fighting for her life when she was teenager and battled Cancer. Her life has been on hold for so long that now she wants to cash in her V-card and experience life. Cara only wants Trace to take care of her V-Card but she's to scared to tell him about her feelings.

Trace has had feelings for Cara since she was little girl, although he didn't realize that it was love what he felt for you. When he realized that he had feelings for Cara and wanted to tell her, she had gotten sick. Trace learned that Cara had Cancer and decided to keep his feelings to himself. That she didn't need an extra burden right now. Le sigh.....he was loving and supporting her from a far.

I really enjoyed this book and the story line between Cara and Trace. Their love for each other is so sweet and heart breaking. Oh man, each chapter I read, I thought this is it, this is the chapter the finally get together. Melanie Shawn took me for an emotional and sexual tension joy ride throughout the book. Hahaha! When it finally happened, I was like YAAAASSSSS! GO GET IT HONEY! It didn't disappoint and the wait was so worth it. Just like this book. Great read, great story line and great series.

Cara McCord had a new lease on life. After hearing the news that she was cancer free, the Texas beauty was ready to move forward and live life to the fullest, starting with losing her virginity. There was only one problem, though—the gorgeous blonde’s heart beat for one cowboy alone, and he was someone she knew she could never have. Cara is only focused on finally living her life and losing her virginity. She longs for Trace, but believes he can never want a relationship, he has never had one yet. She does not want to admit her lust to her best friends because Trace happens to be Harmony's brother. Harmony and Destiny are determined to help her find a man to satisfy Cara's need for fun. Trace does not know how Cara feels about him and is hesitant to admit he loves her. He definitely has his work cut out for him if he will be able to successfully convince Cara of his love for her. I loved their chemistry and Cara's fragility.

Convincing Cara by Melanie Shawn is book 2 in their new Wishing Well Texas series. This story stars Cara McCord and Trace Briggs. Trace is an older brother of Cara’s best friend Harmony and brother-in-law of her other best friend Destiny. Trace has been in love with Cara since she was kid and Cara was also in love with Trace since they were young. Yet, neither knew of the other’s feelings. Part of that reason could be due to the fact that Cara was dealing with leukemia through her teens. Cara had finally received the news that she was cancer free, so she was ready to live life to its fullest. Trace decided her was going to be the one to help her get started.

This was a beautiful love story that had me rooting for these two. I was wondering how Trace would convince Cara to trust him. I was wondering if Cara would give Trace a chance at more than just being friends. I was truly wondering how these two could keep their relationship a secret from their friends and family.

I enjoyed Convincing Cara and was pleased with the way Melanie Shawn found a way for Cara and Trace to find their true love and happy ever after. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next story in the Wishing Well series.

Book two of the Wishing Well series by Melanie Shawn. This one is all about Cara and Trace. Cara is one of Charlie’s Angels, as the threesome of Destiny, Harmony, and Cara, was named in grade school. We read about another angel, Destiny, in book one. It seems that the Briggs boys are all about those angels! This is another sweet read that is pure fun.

Cara has lived her life loud, live, and very public in the small town of Wishing Well. Due to a childhood illness, the entire town always knew everything about her. She is their darling. She didn’t have the normal experiences of childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. She is ready for a change. She’s ready to catch up. She just isn’t quite sure how to do that.

Trace has been through it all with Cara…from the sidelines. He wasn’t able to be by her side like he wanted to be. He’s tired of being on the sidelines, but isn’t quite sure how to get front and center. Then suddenly there’s an opening and he’s definitely going to fill it. He’s also going to try to get Cara to understand what she’s meant to him for as long as he can remember.

This is definitely a fun HEA story. All the advice in this one comes from Dolly Briggs, Trace’s mother, and she’s every bit as good as giving it as Grandma Dixie is!

I'm really loving Wishing Well, Texas. Cara, Destiny, and Harmony are best friends. Cara beat leukemia as a teenager. She just had her five year remission test result and is now considered to be cancer free. Trace Briggs is another one of Harmony's hot brothers (Destiny already found her HEA with JJ in book one). They have both secretly been in love with the other for YEARS, but neither acted on their feelings due to Cara's cancer. Because Cara's teen years and college years were both spent fighting off cancer and battling to stay in remission, she missed out on a lot of "normal" things young people do. That includes sex. She has now decided she wants to lose her virginity and get ready for a real relationship. She doesn't want the two things to be with the same person because she's always heard how bad everyone's first time is. Trace has decided no one else is deserving of helping Cara lose her virginity. I loved reading their story and seeing how they found their way together. I cannot wait to read Harmony's book next.

Book 2 in the Wishing Well series was even better than the first!!!! I had BIG expectations for Convincing Cara and of course, Melanie Shawn delivered. I can't believe these words are about to be said.....but I think I love Trace more than JJ and I just didn't think that was possible. Trace!!! What can I say about him other than he is probably the ultimate perfect man. Extremely sexy, sweet, loving, affectionate, compassionate, focused, doting and a little alpha. Just what I love! His love for Cara is something straight out of a fairy tale! Dang I just love him. And Cara? Well, there isn't a stronger girl around. She is incredible and deserves a man no less than amazing. Remember that fairy tale reference? Well, Cara had to go through a few frogs to get to her prince and it was such a fun ride! But, one of my absolute favorite parts of this book is seeing the love the three best friends have for each other. Seeing how they always have each others back. I absolutely can't wait for book 3!

Happy reading!

I am in love with Wishing Well Texas. I honestly thought when I read Destiny and J.J.’s story that J.J. was my new favorite book boyfriend. Let me tell you that Trace gave him a run for his money. I am usually disappointed at book 2 in a series. I find that the series always noses dives before it gets better. The second book in the Wishing Well Texas series did not do that at all. It started off strong and just kept getting stronger and stronger. I thought that Trace and Cara had off the charts chemistry and Trace was just so sexy, caring, loving … I could go on and on about him. I do not want to spoil the book but I will just say that boy did he have a way with words. This book was amazing. Now Trace is my new favorite book boyfriend. It was a great second book to this series and I am cannot wait for Harmony’s book. I love books about family, community and friends. I highly recommend this book. Pick it up today. This book is for sure a 5 star plus plus plus !!

I really enjoyed this book immensely . This is the second book in the Wishing Well Texas series. I found this book to be very heartwarming and hot in some scenes . I fell in love with Tracy Biggs he's strong, brave, sexy and in control. Trace has been in love with Cara since he was nine years old , but was always afraid to let anyone know since she was always fighting for her life because of cancer so he stood on the sidelines always watching over her and waiting. When Cara found out she was cancer free she wanted to start living her life she was ready to turn in her v-card . Cara has always loved Trace but no one ever had figured that secret out so when she made her plans with her friends to set out to find a man with the help of Harmony and Destiny, each setting her up on a blind dates. Will Trace ever express his feelings or will he setback on the sidelines and watch her live her life? I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance with a touch of comedy. As I stated earlier this book two of the series but it could be a standalone.

I really was sure what to expect from this book, just because the second book in most series just seems to fall off a bit. Definitely not in this case!!! I LOVED IT!!!! I completely fell in love with Cara, and thought she was such a great, relatable character. Often times when dealing with a character with cancer, there is that fine line between it being just enough and it being over the top and overplayed. I love how Cara was written as a person and it made the cancer just a small part of her, while not overtaking her as well as her story. And do I really need to state the obvious about Trace?!?! I'm pretty sure he is the dream man for the majority of females. He was the perfect mix of alpha male, while also being man enough to stand back and allow her to do what she needed to do. I could go on and on about this book!! I'm not sure how the next book could possibly come close to this, but I can't wait to find out if it does!!!
