This seemed like it was going to be a solid 3 star fluffy fun cupcake romance. Til it tanked at 80% by veering into a tragic place that no fluffy fun cupcake romance should ever go. For no discernible reason. Ruined the book for me.

Everyone has a friend, family member who could be Reese. Reese is someone who avoids conflict, she has a sweet and kind nature that people easily take advantage of. On the night she believes her boyfriend of a year is about to propose she learns that he already has a pregnant fiancé. While Reese has no idea that this man that she was madly in love with was engaged she's still more concerned about his pregnant fiancé feelings. It's not just in her romantic relationships that people walk over Reese but also her friends, family and business associates. Everyone knows Reese is too sweet and wont do anything. While trying to get over her ex, Reese starts to fall for her new neighbor Gabriel. Gabriel believes Reese is the one but in the meantime he has too much baggage with his on again off again girlfriend. In the first half of this book as a reader your super frustrated with Reese, her sisters are hilarious and they give her the best advice but due to her non confrontational style, she doesn't take it. There are so many elements to this story, the heart of the story is not just the love story between Gabriel and Reese but of Reese finding her own strength. Even Reese's love for her cat is a love story, that may sound strange but if you have ever had a pet you definitely understand why she loves her cat so much. Looking forward to reading Qunn's story she was the most feisty of Reese's sisters.

I really enjoyed this book. Very pleasant and enjoyable. And when Reese who had always been a people pleaser finally decided that enough was enough, those scenes were so funny as she stood up to everybody who ever tried to take advantage of her good heart--her undependable cousin, the nosy neighbor etc. I also liked that after she told them all off, she was able to still recall the good times and why she loved them. The conflicts cleared the air but didn’t end the relationships. I loved that message in the book. And while there were exes in the story, thankfully they were not villains. Now on to Mistywood Lane book 2…

A lite fluffy romance. Nice characters and no stupid misunderstanding. I will say that the sex scenes especially the language were not my cup of tea but i guess it depends on what you think is romantic or hot.
Also I am more generous when I review lite contemporary romance novels. Sometimes I just want a book that’s like cotton candy.

Good read!

I happened upon this book and wasn’t familiar with the author but I wanted to give it a shot. I’m glad I did!
I loved Reese and Gabe. Mistywood Lane seems like a great place to live because we know those neighbors 😉.

A story to read

I loved the story here. Pages of information Sith a developed story line. I can't wait to read the next book. Gabriel and Reese had a great chemistry. Read this.

A perfectly serviceable fluffy contemporary. I'm pretty sure that sexy times should not include candy, though. That seems like a recipe for a yeast infection.

Too much graphic sex

Liked the plot, characters, but sex, especially graphic sex, in a book is not something for which I am looking.

Nice romantic book. Thought that Reese was a real pushover but so glad she finally realized how to stand up for herself.

My biggest takeaway from Welcome to Mistywood Lane? I still wonder whether the writer is actually an adult, cisgender woman because putting cake frosting in a vagina is a major yeast infection waiting to happen. OMG, no! Bad plot point!

I also don't know how this book only has one "erotica" tag since the sex scenes seem rather graphic. The cozy mystery-ish cover and the sappy title prove utterly disingenuous once the dirty deeds begin.

Author Reon Laudat offers an ending that’s a romance novel standard, heroine Reese’s engagement to the man of her dreams. There’s nothing new to see in Welcome to Mistywood Lane though the lengthy bit leading to adds a heartbreaking touch.

Reese Sommers had her life planned out in fine details. She knew where she wanted to marry and with whom the blessed nuptials would take place with, because she had a plan. What Reese did not plan on was for her man would already have a fiancée an that said fiancée would be at Reese's front door calling her all kinds of ugly names and cursing her man. To top it all off, the woman was his old girlfriend and she had a little surprise for both of them. When all the dust settled that evening, Reese was alone with her thoughts, a bottle of Merlo,t and her cat Sinbad. The next day her new neighbor came calling with Sinbad in tow. Somehow through all the drama Sinbad had gotten out of the house and had been out all night when the neighbor found him. The new neighbor was a sight for sore eyes and Reese quickly noticed his fineness and seemed to have forgot all about her ex. The new neighbor as it turns out was a Veterinarian and became Sinbad's new doctor. And another twist or six degrees of separation- the new neighbor Gabriel was Reese's ex's girlfriends sister. I know sounds complicated but its not really. For a while after Reese and Gabriel became a couple It appeared both ex's would be a problem. And yes, this prediction came to fruition. Reese's sisters and Gabriel's partners added more polish and sustenance to the story as the story had so much to say about love, trust and being loved passionately. And in the end, both ex's nearly derailed the relationship based on Gabriel's naiveté. Happily, the story had a happy ending for Reese and Gabriel. A good solid story..

Enjoyable Story

This is the first book that I have read by Reon Laudat. The story was quirky and funny. I really enjoyed the book. It was great to see Reese finally stand up for herself and stop being a pushover. I liked her and Gabriel together. I'm glad they were able to work things out. I also liked Reese's relationship with her sisters Quinn and Blaire. Hoping to see more stories from Mistywood Lane.
