Jev was looking for an adventure, however she wanted the usual variety of stomping out nasty fae in the city as an enforcer of the Philly Coven. Instead, handsome as sin Liam O'Reilly shows up on her doorstep dropping news of the worst organization of fae they'd dealt with on the rise again. Except, he's a traitor, an asshole, and the absolute last person she wants to work with.

However, the longer they work together, the more the fire between them burns, turning from rage and irritation into something primal. And as she gets to know the real Liam O'Reilly behind the charming smiles and sexy lines, he becomes so much deadlier. Because the protective, self-sacrificing man underneath his facade is just the sort she could fall for.

First you don’t need the first book in the series to read this but it would help understand the situation with Liam and everyone better. I also like how this one ends for we get a hint of the next book which I hope is the djinn Sam.

This wasn’t what I expected. this was better than I expected. We see more dimension added to Liam’s character. he goes from being hard as stone to being human. One who is more like Conor than at first glance thought. Liam made mistakes but he did it with good intentions and we see him willing to sacrifice again in this book for those he love. This helps him redeem himself more in all those around him eyes. He is hard as nails when needed but he also has a heart and loves with everything he is. When you are loved by him he protects you fiercely. I hope that him and Conor can become close again and I think they will.

Jev is tough as nails and stubborn. She also has a heart of gold and you know that if she can fall in love with Liam that he isn’t what we first believed him to be. She is snarky fun and tenacious. She is also fierce in fighting and believes that the dark can be defeated and this helps Liam to hold onto hope and fight. When Liam first came to her I knew that we would get some fun snarky showdowns and boy did we. These two kept each other on their toes and also buoyed one another. The chemistry and tension between them could be cut with a knife. You knew when it exploded it would be one sizzling hot time and boy was it.

The story is one in which LIam redeems himself but we also see him fall in love. We see him fight for those he loves and against the very being he hurt him before. He fights for Jev and her family, for Sam, for Conor and himself. Jev in the time they spent together gave him hope that he was worth more and could have a different future than that of a lonely hunter. That it was worth the fight. Watching them try to help Sam get control of his life from Destrius again we see them work together and learn about one another. Their love grew with the respect that created for one another. The danger was palpable and had its own heartbeat in this book. It oozed in every pore of the city as the showdown at the end came to being.

The sacrifices of Jev and Liam were out of love and to protect and that made them more special. I loved how it was Jev who gave Liam the courage and strength to fight again. The story was fast paced and entertaining with the banter between Jev and Liam as the danger ratchets up and they come up against their biggest threat to set Liam and Sam free of the chains that bind them to the past and hurt their future. A book of sacrifice and love. Of danger and finding hope and fighting for what is right. A book that gives us witty snarky banter and keeps the characters on their toes as they find love and fight for one another and to help eliminate some evil.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book two of the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles, and it helps to have read book one, Hunting for Spring. Not absolutely necessary, but I'd highly recommend you do. You'll get a much better picture of Liam, and of Jev, and what happened to them both in that book.

Liam needs help, but since he is, by all accounts, a traitor, there aren't many he can call on. Jev helped his brother-in-arms before, so he hopes she will help now. He just doesn't want to ask for help at all, but his friend Sam needs help he can't provide.

Oh, a fabulous second book! Sexier and steamier, darker and deadlier, it pulls and grabs and doesn't let go!

Jev met Liam when helping Conor and Brianna. He piqued her interest in so far as she wanted to know what made him do what he did. But something else also, something she wasn't quite sure it was. Once he asks for her help, its painfully obvious the man pushes her buttons in a way no one has done for a very long time. But he makes her laugh, even in the face of danger, and he show her the REAL Liam, the one he has been hiding all this time.

Equally, Jev pushes Liam's buttons, but he tries hard, so bloody hard to ignore that pushing. He is, after all, a Hunter and a Hunter's life is a lonely one. But he can't ignore her, the way she makes him feel, the way she makes him HOPE.

I wanted Liam to fall and fall hard. I said as much at the end of my review for Hunting For Spring. I just did not expect that falling to be for Jev! Oh, I did so enjoy this book!!

I am, maybe wrongly, assuming the next book **Puleeeze let there be a NEXT BOOK!** will be about Sam, the genie here chasing the parts of his lamp, and Alanna, the head Witch at the Coven. They had a spark, and my interest is fully locked on them now! So, please Ms McIntyre, tell me, book three is about Sam and Alanna! I can see THAT one being particularly interesting, given that Alanna has Sam's lamp locked away in the Coven's vaults and he is not best pleased about that!

This was so good that I really wish I had read book 1 first. There was a lot to love about this book. I love how many different types of supernatural beings there are. The pooka has some really cool tricks. I love the chemistry between Jev & Liam. I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

Scrying for Summer is Book 2 in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles. The romance in this is a focus on Liam and Jev’s story. The characters are well developed, likable as the story progresses, and have great chemistry together. The story line is well-written and holds the reader’s attention from start to finish.

Liam O'Reilly had made some serious mistakes, enough to brand him a traitor, but he did what he did with honorable intentions. He told Jev he needed her help now in locating his friend Sam, a djinn who's magic lamp is stolen, and swore to her that he was no longer with the Order of the Serpent who had forced his obedience when they kidnapped his mother. In this book, as he is redeeming himself, the reader can observe his willingness to sacrifice for those he cares for. He is a very strong protector.

Jev, a witch in the Philadelphia Coven, was a strong, independent woman who could meet Liam on equal footing. Their banter and tension kept the reader fully focused on what was going on. As they worked together and Jev got to know the real Liam’s qualities rather than her mistaken impression of who he was before, she begins to see him as someone she can care for. Will they find a HEA? Or is betrayal still a possibility?

This was a good story and worth reading. Grab your copy and see how their story unfolds as they team up and learn the truth about each other.

This second book in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles gives us a redeemable alpha male, which is a favorite for me, especially if he's done right. And I'll just throw in here that Katherine McIntyre certainly got it right as far as I'm concerned. The more I learned about Liam, the more I liked him. Of course, likable and redeemable or not, Jev doesn't make it easy on him, but then she wouldn't be a McIntyre heroine if she did. Liam and Jev give great banter, and their chemistry is off the charts. Whether they're battling one supernatural creature or the next, trying not to taste Liam's mother's baking, or squeezing in some alone time, these two are good together. This is part of a series, and the author explains things well enough that it can technically be read as a standalone, but I would strongly suggest reading them in order because you won't want to miss anything in this fast-paced urban fantasy. Like the first in the series, this one is action-packed and loads of engaging entertainment. We do get a hint about what's next, and I can't wait to see where that story goes.

"The flirting, swagger, all of that she could dismiss, but the Liam O'Reilly behind the hunter's mask he wore was deadly, because the glimpses she'd seen--that sort of man she could fall for."

Liam and Jev lit my world on FIRE!!! Liam was the perfect combination of dangerous alpha with a sweet underneath that Jev pulled to the surface. Jev was a powerhouse that took his world and shook it all up. The banter, the tension, and the constant angst from all sides made this an exhilarating read!! I was glued from the minute I started and couldn't put it down, a truly mind-blowing read full of hot, sexy, PNR goodness that you have to experience yourself. My absolute favorite couple of the series....so far!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!

She wants adventure but her job is about to throw her a curve. He appears at her front door and their emotions are anger at first. The more they learn about each other the more likely they will fall in love with each other. Can they work together? What will happen if they fall in love? Follow their adventures

A traitor finds redemption and love...

Liam doesn't have a lot of fans at the moment. When the safety of his mother was at stake, he had done some pretty shady things that led to some fairly deadly consequences. But when a friend needs his help, Liam knows he has to try to save him. Taking out a really bad guy in the process is a bonus.

Enter: a witch named Jev. Liam seeks out the one person he thinks might be willing to assist him and is surprised when she actually agrees. Sure, she may despise him. But he needs her quick wit and her magical abilities, not her approval.

However, the mission isn't an easy one. Evil creatures lurk at every turn and soon our pair is sent on a treasure hunt to find pieces of a missing genie lamp in order to save Liam's friend. Hordes of pixies, feral beasts, and a ruthless enemy stand in their way. It's one paranormal battle after another.

This is the second book of the series and another great read! I think I might have liked this one just a little bit more and only because the snarky banter between our couple was highly entertaining. The romance was pretty hot, too. I was caught off guard by some surprise kisses that made me smile. Liam and Jev were a good pairing of two headstrong characters with soft hearts.

The paranormal world was even more vast in this book with the addition of some new supernatural beings. There were a couple of repeat offenders, too, like the pixies. But even if I hadn't read the first book, I doubt I would have had trouble following along as the world-building isn't really all that complicated and the author does a good job of keeping us up to speed.

I found the first book to be on the wordy side and this one was, too. It's just this author's style of writing and it didn't bother me much this time around. It mostly occurred during the action scenes, in which every detail was meticulously described. But some action scenes were longer and some shorter. There was a decent balance this time around.

In closing...
There were tiny clues dropped that hint toward the next pairing for the third book. I am all for this coupling and eager to read it! 4.5 suns!

Fast, Furious and Sizzling!

Scrying for Summer is the latest instalment in Katherine McIntyre’s Philadelphia Coven Chronicles. It is a smexy read from start to finish, which fans of romance, especially paranormal and urban fantasy will love. Whilst the book works as a standalone, reading the previous book would give more of an insight into the main characters and the world of the Fae.

I hugely enjoyed the pairing of Jev, a gutsy Coven Enforcer with Liam, (the previously turncoat Hunter) both of whom we met in the previous book Hunting For Spring. There is an awful lot of sexual tension between the two from the off, although it is not acknowledged. Jev despises Liam on account of his past alliance with the enemy and views him as a traitor. She is upfront and honest in her opinions,  disliking deceit of any kind, in contrast with Liam who guards his true self and traumatic past beneath a bad boy devil-may- care exterior.  Whilst Jev trusts Liam not an inch she is prepared to work with him to rid her beloved city of evil and is careful to both watch her back and guard her heart against the man necessity compels her to work with.

Nevertheless as the two work ever closely together their respective masks come off and they begin to fall hard for each other. Indeed, there are some smoking hot scenes amongst those of blood, magic and gore which typify the battles between Jev and Liam and their arch enemy. Yet will they survive? Once more will they take a chance on love and admit their feelings for one another are more than just lust?

This book, like the previous one, contains some expertly crafted battles between the forces of good and the evil Unseelie, where no quarter is spared and where Jev and Liam must use everything in  their arsenal if they are to survive.

All in all a super addition to the series and I am looking forward to future instalments! Please note, a copy of this book was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Scrying for Summer is the second book in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles, and we meet back up with the little powerhouse known as Jev, and the turncoat with soul, Liam. Brenna and Conor are out of town, and Liam doesn't know where else to turn. His friend is in trouble, with the same organisation Liam is trying to escape from. He asks for Jev's help, not realising the danger he would be asking her to face.

Liam shows a different side to himself in this book, one that Jev finds hard to resist. He is no longer the simple, one-dimensional, turncoat she thought he was. Instead, she finds out more about his reasons for what he did, and also asks herself the question of what would she do in the same situation? Once she realises that the answer isn't as easy as she thought, as well as some wise words from Sam the Djinn, her view changes of Liam. He is busy fighting his attraction for Jev. He is a Hunter, and their lives are dangerous. However, no one tells Jev what she can or can't do, and her help with the situation regarding his mom breaks down some of the walls that Liam holds onto so tightly.

Whilst you don't have to read book one to enjoy this one, I would still recommend you do. You will get a much better picture of who Jev and Liam are, plus why they both feel the way they do at the beginning. This was an excellent addition to the series, and Katherine McIntyre continues with her fantastic world- and character-building. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, and I was thoroughly engrossed with the story from start to finish. Highly recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

3.5 Cranky Stars

This was a book about Liams redemption back into the hunter society. Apparently a year has passed and I had to figure this out on my own. Once again there was no real time frame which made it harder to peg when the story actually happened.

Jev is a librarian in the stacks of the coven library. Besides her beauty and brains she's also a powerful enforcer. A witch with powerful spells she yearns for more excitement then studying dusty tomes all day.

Liam has already betrayed his family we learn to save his mother which is a very uncommon thing in the hunter community. You see hunters are just bred and the mothers go on with their lives and leave their children to be raised by their fathers. He's been trying to get back into the good graces of Conor, Brenna and everyone he wronged. He seeks out Jev for help in locating his friend Sam a djinn who's magic lamp is stolen. Together they set on a mythical journey on the streets of Philadelphia.

This book at times seemed to lag and scenes that went on for pages and pages could have been cut in half in my opinion. I'm all for letting the reader use their imagination. The sex scenes were better this time around and the chemisty between Jev and Liam was spicy. If you're looking for mythical beings and baddies galore then this is the book for you.

>Book review – Scrying for Summer

>This book is the second in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles and ends in an HEA. Jev is a witch fighting for good in Philly. A sworn enemy, Liam, shows up asking her for help. Liam tells Jev he is no longer with the Order of the Serpent. He was forced into their service when they kidnapped his mom. Jev has a very prickly personality and always seems to be snarky toward Liam. Working together, an attraction forms as Jev sees the real Liam, selfless and self-sacrificing.

>The banter between Jev and Liam is funny in its cruelty at first. Soon their banter becomes sexually charged as their relationship heats up. There is a lot of action, fighting the head of the Order of the Serpent who seemingly cannot be beaten. All sorts of strange creatures come out to get Jev and Liam. The descriptions of the creatures are wonderful. All of the senses are used in describing them, especially smell. The treasure hunt to find Sam’s lamp kept the reader on the edge of the seat wondering what new creature would come out to attack.

>Liam is a perfect example of a flawed hero. He is selfless, yet is forced to do things he doesn’t want to. Jev is a confident, self-assured woman. Once she accepts her feelings for Liam, she doesn’t waver. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 hearts. The final conflict that ensnares Liam again is fairly predictable and should have been protected against as Liam and Jev attempt to out-think the bad guys. ✨✨➡️ I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.⬅️✨✨

TBH, I did not read Hunting for Spring but from bits and pieces in Scrying for Summer it can be easily catch up with what's really happening.

Faes?✔️
Hunters? ✔️
Witches? ✔️
Troll? ✔️
Pooka? ✔️
Djinn? ✔️
Pixies? ✔️
Romance?? ✔️✔️✔️
So to summarize, this book contain supernatural beings, actions and romance. The djinn and pixies are not the ones we saw at Disney cartoons. Bear that in mind.
Characters wise, Jev is strong, stubborn headed, have mind of her own, know when and what to do. Don't take crap easily when comes to Liam. Liam had earned her trust when they start to work together and he tells her why he betrayed them and work with the Brotherhood of the serpents. Liam is s Hunter and based on his upbringing, he doesn't trust too much and lean towards anyone too much. Like a lone wolf to be exact. The wall he built around himself is broken down by Jev. So it's very interesting to read the bicker between them and the attraction tension that surrounds them.

Entertaining read for me. Cos you dunno what monsters will pop out waiting for you.

A friend gave me this to read and though it sounded interesting, it was just ok. I had trouble getting into the story as it is a second novel. Though I was told you could jump in, the characters themselves refer to events that I can only assume happened (or were explained) in the previous novel. I did not enjoy feeling left out. The narration jumps between Jev and Liam, our couple. It flows pretty well, but I did feel as if the characters rambled to themselves at times, in the midst of action. I also feel that there was some character defining repetition. I know Liam is a lonewolf type, I realize he betrayed everyone, it was set up from the beginning, I do not need to be consistently reminded. The overall plot of the novel was interesting but a little predictable. It is an interesting paranormal romance series, but not one I think I will continue.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

This is another book I could hardly put down, this one is a bit darker than the first one, but still an addicting series. You do see Conor and Brenna return in this book as secondary characters, and it’s fun to touch base with them. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
