“IT ISN’T OVER AS LONG AS I DON’T GIVE UP” Rudeus, Roxy’s esteemed disciple, has disappeared along with most of the Fittoa Territory after a mysterious blinding light engulfed it. Now, Roxy’s journey to find him begins. Meanwhile, Rudeus “Rudy” Greyrat and Eris continue trying to find a way home, with the aid of those they’ve met in the Demon Continent, including Ruijerd, The Superd warrior. Can Rudy handle the pressures of getting home, protecting Eris and clearing the name of the Superd race, or has the prior-NEET finally found a task even his new zest for life can’t overcome?
Trying to get a foothold in the Demon Continent is slow-going, but at least none of the jobs are particularly HARD for these guys. Just unrewarding. Alas.
Still, the characters are fun and there's plenty of reasons to travel all over the world after that big reshuffling.
I will mention this again, however: I wish many of these side-stories were showing up in the anime. It's all gold. Sigh.
It's like being told a story from a little girl's point of view, full of vague adjectives and a lisp. The plot is slowly inching along, but in terms of character development: nothing. No new skills, no new concepts, nobody grew taller, no relationships, nothing. Here I though Americans had short attention span, I guess it's not uncommon for more Asians to have ADHD; the books are short, really short. Since light novels are usually 5' x 7' and double spaced it has only 135 words instead of 200 in the west so the pages contain 32% less words and the books contain only half the number of pages resulting in readers getting only 34% of what they pay for. So in order to cram all the things the author wants into one book, important details that require the intricacy of control are neglected. This conservative style forced by concerns of revenue has been fucking all industries not just publishing in the past 30 years. Everybody is forced into these positions because they're struggling to stay alive. I really wish companies don't use "Targeting a Younger Audience as an excuse" for lack of effort and thought in both quality of product, and marketing & sales contracts in the west. As in: did you know that Disney's Tinkerbell Merchandise generates twice as much profit as Naruto? How could that be? It's because they don't have overseas sales and make the collectibles extremely expensive, One Figurine cost over $100 USD and just as much to ship overseas and there are customs fees and taxes. And the other products like mouse pads and slippers have been dominated by Chinese ripoffs because they don't encourage a western market.
The series doesn't have any major combat or the MC getting significantly stronger with each passing volume but he was already at such a high level that i understand the lack of power ups but while the MC isn't getting noticeably stronger his companion Eris is.
I really do like the chapter flash backs along with there respective journey just like Rudy, sometimes adding other groups/characters taking time from the MC can water the plot down a little but not in this case.
