Love is ageless. Babies need it. Teens crave it. Adults complicate it. And, the elderly want to relive it, but acting on it is another story.
Actually, acting on it is "exactly" what this story is about.
Henry Silverman is seventy-six years old, and he needs some "horizontal stimulation," as he calls it. He's a member of the Executive's Dating Service, so he places an advertisement in the service's bimonthly bulletin with a hope and a prayer. Maybe some Boca Raton fox will respond, and they can explore the possibilities.
By week's end, Henry's mailbox is bursting with responses, and he has his work cut out for him-maybe more than he and his stash of Viagra can handle.
And, he's not the only one facing love-related challenges. "Another Kind of Love" is about relationships of all kinds. It intertwines love's humor, pathos, and multilayered realities-as well as its dark side in the form of an ugly secret that threads the story through, writhing to be discovered. Its ultimate reveal is shocking and totally unexpected.
Writing and editing have been part of Marcia Radler’s life for as long as she can remember. This Palm Beach Gardens woman has always had a knack for putting words together, and she knows how to move them around like pieces of a puzzle so that they sound even better than they did before. For years, she spent the time she had when she wasn’t raising her family, editing other people’s books. It was the perfect gig for a mother who wanted a flexible schedule so she could care for her children. But, one day, after they were grown, Radler, now 75, said she had decided it was time to set aside other people’s books and write one of her own.
This was an easy read, different dating and love stories involving different characters based within a senior community. There were twists and turns that kept my interest, some more interesting than others. To be honest, I wasn't sure how to rate this book. I finished it and my mind was oddly blank. What I can take away from this is that no matter your age, love and dating is still possible, long lasting friendships within a community, but also dealing with the hard parts of life, some of which are inevitable, and others you would never suspect.
Another Kind of Love by Marcia Radler is a real page-turner. Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger, leaving the reader wanting to find out what happens next. It is a fun read, with humor, pathos and relatable situations. There are many surprises throughout. After reading the book, you'll say "thank you for the recommendation."
