The third book in a new series bringing the experiences of favorite biblical figures to the challenges of contemporary life.
If you could drop biblical men and women into our world today, what kind of lessons might they teach you? In Successful Leaders of the Bible , the Bible's most exceptional leaders come alive in fictionalized form to help readers understand that the lessons God imparted in the Bible millennia ago are just as applicable today as they were then. For example, if David lived today and continued to chase after God, how might God help him rise to a position of great power just as he did eons ago? If Moses was alive, imagine how God might use him to advocate for others. These stories are perfect for those who want to better themselves and see biblical characters in a whole new light.
Having read this book and its companion - Successful Women of the Bible, I can tell you just how great the series is. This book contains both women and men of the Bible from both old and new testaments. Starting with Joseph and Moses and ending with Peter, Paul and Jesus. I always appreciate and enjoy these books as they have great thoughts and teachings not just for those who are leaders in the church, but for all Christians. I was given this book by Netgalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.
This a fantastically great book for leaders. This books starts out showing people how to become a leader. It begins with the story of Joseph. He gets a GOD given vision of how his brothers will one day bow down before him, and then he goes out and tells them. They get angry and decide to sell him off - but what his brothers meant for bad GOD changes for the good - do I hear an AMEN? Well leaders have a GOD given call - they are led to do what they are called to do and GOD will be with you all the way. This book tells you all you need to know and then some you didn't know you needed to know and the best part is - they use Scrip, ture to back up what they are saying - and that is the most important thing to have someone to do - you need to have someone back up what they are saying with Scripture - please do not take what someone is saying to you without it- and don't let them give you Scripture be twisted to fit what they are saying - and you do that by reading what the Scripture around it is saying - how do I know this? my father drilled it into me - (he was a pastor, he is now passed,) this book - it doesn't twist the Scriptures, which is refreshing. If you are a leader or want to be one - this is a great book. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Urg I just love Katara's writing. She's so uplifting and you look differently not only at some of the Bible's characters, but also on day to day situations. Great book to use for devotion :)
This book was very informative regarding how to be a better leader like those in the Scriptures. The book starts out with one of my favorite stories. It is the story of Joseph. It tells you how Joseph gets these God=given visions where his brothers were to bow down to him and the stars in the sky were also to bow down to him. So Joseph being so excited about the visions he ran outside and told his brothers the visions. Well let me tell you what - they were not too happy - they were already ticked that his father already paid special attention to him already and now this kid is telling them they were going to bow to him - they decided to sell him off - but what they meant for bad GOD used for good - can I get an AMEN? you see Joseph went through a lot of things but eventually he became the kings number one and saved the kingdom from starvation and yes his brothers did bow down to him - they didn't even recognize him until he told them who he was - you have to read that Scripture - you have to read this book to find out about the other leaders in the book - the thing is this book is saying if you are a leader it is a calling by GOD and that GOD will see it through with you til the end. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for an honest review.
This book features leadership profiles of a few characters in the Bible. While the insights on the more popular characters will already be familiar to some of us, it is still helpful to have this compilation as a quick reference source. Since I am primarily involved in a very transitory ministry (meaning, we have a large membership of young professionals and young marrieds who tend to move to other places due to life changes or upward advancement of their careers), there is a frequent need to train new leaders to replace those who move out of our area. This book is a great reference for training classes and discussions, coupled with traditional leadership training knowledge.
