Untitled: Robert Lazzarini Works on Paper

Rate this book
The Van Every/Smith Galleries at Davidson College is pleased to announce the publication of Untitled -- Robert Lazzarini Works on Paper. This catalogue accompanies the first survey exhibition of works on paper by artist Robert Lazzarini. This hardbound, full-color publication contains numerous illustrations and features the essay Marking Time by curator Brad Thomas as well as a conversation with Robert Lazzarini and Chuck Close. Robert Lazzarini came into the international spotlight in 2001 with an exhibition of skulls in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s exhibition BitStreams, which focused on the intersection of art and technology in the information age. His uncanny sculptures of distorted human skulls sent shockwaves through the art world. He followed the success of that display with payphone in the 2002 Whitney Biennial. In doing so, he solidified his place among highly acclaimed up-and-coming American artists. Since then, his work has been the subject of a solo exhibition at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in 2003. His second solo museum exhibition will be held at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC through July, 2006.
