Indebted Series 1-3: Boxed Set

Rate this book
New York Times, Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling Series. Seven books in total. This edition contains the first three: Debt Inheritance "I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It's undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you've paid off your debts." Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter. First Debt: "You say I'll never own you. If I win-you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another-one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I'll give you this." Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out. Second Debt: "I tried to play a game. I tried to wield deceit as perfectly as the Hawks. But when I thought I was winning, I wasn't. Jethro isn't what he seems-he's the master of duplicity. However, I refuse to let him annihilate me further." Nila Weaver has grown from naive seamstress to full-blown fighter. Every humdrum object is her arsenal, and sex...sex is her greatest weapon of all."

Indebted Series 1-3 by Pepper Winters book set-
Book1 Debt Inheritance
Book2 First Debt
Book3 second Debt.

So far these first three books are the most frustrating and tension filled books I've read so far.
The volatile relationship between Nila and Jethro is absolutely horrendous all the backwards and forwards and up and downs,it's enough to send one's self to deal with the debts just to get it over with!! (Trust me that's whipping and waterboarding in a lake) but the addiction to reading this is just as crazy.
I'm still finding it hard to believe these two are supposed to find love with each other.
Jethro's whole family is bent up and buckled.
This is exceptionally dark I'm recommending it but please be warned 📖

I can't. Pepper Winters just does not do it for me. Listen, I'm here for the fucked up kidnapping novels. I'm here for the weird power dynamic relationships. I eat that RIGHT up. But this story sucked.

We have Nila. She's got a pretty swanky life going on. She's making a name for herself in the fashion world by designing KILLER dresses. She has vertigo, her brother and dad never let her out of their sites so she doesn't date much. A couple of months ago, this rando number texted her something dirty and she responded. She now sex chats a random stranger but every time she asks to meet him he yells at her. It's really fucking weird.

Then we have Jethro. He was apparently raised by the devil and had all kindness and goodness weeded out of him at a young age. He does not yell or shout. His scariness lies in his quiet demeanor. We know this because it's mention one hundred THOUSAND times. Winters LOVES repeating herself.

Jethro is here to take Nila away but she must come willingly! It's in the contract that Nila knows absolutely nothing about. She meets Jethro and wants to bang him because her text buddy is being mean again. So she wanders off with Jethro to a cafe where he encroaches on her personal space and she kinda likes it and Jethro is surprised by this. She is NOT supposed to surprise him. She's supposed to be scared of him. Something is up with this girl he is supposed to kill? I don't know, it's referred to but Jethro is keeping mum on all subjects.

He wants to know what it will take to get Nila to come home with him (because unwillingly is not an option) but he DOES NOT WANT HER TO SPEAK. Every time she opens her mouth he RADIATES coldness. (Again we know this because it's mentioned a couple hundred times.) Her heart is pounding in her ribcage we can feel it pounding away in her little chest because this also is mentioned a couple hundred times.

FINALLY he starts threatening her family and even then she's kind of like "...but are you serious?" And he drags her on his bike after ripping apart her million dollar dress and takes off with her.

So at this point he DOES wind up drugging her for the plane ride, but not before she texts her little sex buddy because he's her only friend and she wants to be on good terms with him during this mess. (Don't look at me, she's already dealing with one asshole but the girl is a glutton for wanting the attention of people who absolutely hate her and treat her like garbage).

The drug is something they've just released. And she's internally screaming but can't do anything because the drug incapacitates her body. So she's just witnessing everything around her and she is absolutely horrified and again INTERNALLY SCREAMING (HER THROAT IS RAW!!!) and we know this because it's stated one hundred times.

This is where I lost absolute all interest in the story.

I like my heroes to be possessive of their women and Jethro is to an extent but he still passes her around his family and lets them molest her entire body so she can read some stupid contract that was written in the legit dark ages that the family's continue to uphold. Nothing that would be upheld in a state of law but you know they're rich and can do what they want.

I finished book one and started book two but honestly the story was not my cup of tea.

A word of warning from someone who has read this entire series:

-One dimensional villains who "chuckle" and "smirk" incessantly? Check.
-Googling masked as research? Check.
-Diamond mines in Africa 400 years prior to the discovery of diamonds? Check.
-Unenforcable legal debts? Check!
-Prime ministers like Winston Churchill & Margaret Thatcher, plus an assorted number of kings, queens and diplomats that have signed the death warrants of innocent women as late as the 1900's, just because the Hawks are so powerful? Check!

Yes, all you Brits out there: Pepper IS in fact saying that England - a democracy - is nothing more than a banana republic in disguise. That your ruthless papparazzis, known for their exposees of royalty, celebrities and politicians, have failed to notice this gigantic scandal that would topple people of real power...

Worst of all; Pepper shuts down completely when she's confronted with her shoddy work, lack of quality control and credibility.
Because who cares, "It's about the emotion!" (Yes, that's what the author more or less replied.)

*Sigh*

The quality of education must be dropping like a stone if her fans consider this a well researched book. Indebted is a result of basic googling at best, and whatever betas she's using are either lacking the knowledge or the guts to tell her she needs to focus of quality control.

If Pepper was so hell bent on ignoring undeniable facts about our contemporary world, why couldn't she have created an alternate universe where she made up all the historical facts herself? At least then she would have been able to completely ignore the research aspect and focus solely on her beloved emotions.

Bottom line: If "minor" details (like the fact that Pepper seems to think that Milan is a city in SPAIN) bother you; do not read this series! If you can live with glaringly obvious plot holes, as long as you get
melodrama emotion, then this just might be the series for you.

~The rating is intended to reflect my view on the series as a whole. I initially rated books 1-3 (much) higher. (Despite the miserable Milan fail!) However, by the time I got to the end of the series, I was well and truly disillusioned (Think negative stars.)~

Indebted Series 1-3: Boxed Set

GASP!!!
I embarked on the Indebted Series 1-3: with the knowledge.

That I would be plummeted, captivated, seduced, enthralled and basically mind fucked! Hell I didn’t know that it was going to be a 123 punch! A guttural slam dunk! Swift, all encompassing at some points. Which assaults your senses almost like a drug, a haze, a mist defying neuron. Only to propels you to a new level.
That leaves you spellbound, speechless, mindless, heart thrumming, void of any present day knowledge and feeling hungover! A virtual sinuate of ecstasy and desire!

At first, I was overwhelmed with how many books are in the series but don't let it deter you. I read the entire series without stopping in a week because I had to know how it would end. I have never been this tense and literally going crazy over a series. It was that good and most likely will be my favorite of all time. If you've read any of Pepper's books you know how incredible her stories are and this one was mind blowing. Now if we could only have this series made into a movie it would be EPIC! I don't want to go into any details and spoil the story. I know you will fall completely in love with Jethro and Nila is one badass heroine. She went through hell and back when most would have given up. Amazing and a must read. Loved it!

WOWOWOWW

I jumped on this box set when it was released, it was an absolute bargain, a gorgeous cover, and 3 of stories from this series in one.
Although I have reviewed each of the books in this series individually, I'm also going to give a quick review on this box set, as it was what I read them from.

This has fast become one of my favourite series, and authors. I've fallen in love with the world this dark and sexy story is born from. The background, history, detail and characters are incredible. I felt like I was watching it all happening, the writing style was so incredible.

There are some dark and disturbing parts in this story, but that's what makes it so addictive. They are needed to show just twisted the story and some of the characters are. And completely make the story perfect.

I became hooked on Jethro and Nila within just a few chapters. One who is outwardly strong but broken and fragile inside. The other is outwardly weak, but inside made of some strong stuff that just wow's.

Be prepared to lose sleep and many hours, in the addictive story that is the Indebted series. Highly recommended.

Definitely not her best work

This is not a romance..it's not even a dark romance. I love dark romances and I mean black but this has so much torture and the basis for it is a 600 year old debt? It's not a trigger for me because I have read books where serial killers are so awful that the scenes are difficult but yet the premise of the scenes make sense. I loved Monsters in the dark series and that had some disturbing scenes. However it was about a woman who survived being sold into human slavery and eventually found out that she had been wrong about the man who eventually bought her and well without explanation it was a great read. This is just about torture and a debt that is so far fetched it lacked any credibility. This guy is a monster as the whole family is. Oh sure by the end of 1-3 he falls for her after almost killing her in a gruesome way but hey! Unfortunately this just doesn't have the great hot sex scenes nor a storyline nor a male with any redeeming qualities and the girl is a total sex craving idiot! There’s no hot sex scenes and sexy dialogue that usually makes a dark romance worth reading. The family on both sides are disgusting and her reaction? Not reasonable. I will continue to read some of Peppers books because they’re usually well written and I really love the other books I have read. This however? I won't be purchasing the second box set. It's too bad I really was excited about it but too much torture and I mean brutal brutal torture was a turn off. Also many of the facts are wrong and make zero sense. She’s the denial Queen and seems to think being tortured, raped, mind screwed, left for dead is well a nightmare and really deep down she will find her true love with this man who lacks any moral compass and does whatever daddy asks! This isn’t an Alpha male and zero romance.. this is not even within the realm of feasible! Maybe in another Universe but that wouldn’t make up for the torture and this girls sickening state of denial..this was a waste of money …

I read the first book in this series years ago and it has stuck in my mind and I had to binge read the full series. This is a dark book with a captive theme and it was amazing. Jethro Hawk appears to claim Nila Weaver as part of a 600-year-old debt between their families. I can’t put in to words how amazingly twisted this tale is, but if you are a dark fan, this series is a must read.

In book 1 - Nila has been sheltered by her father most of her life, but he lets her leave with Jethro. Jethro tries to be what he needs to be to extract the debts, but will he be able to complete his task.

In book 2 - Jethro collects the first debt from Nila, but we are seeing that Jethro is not quite as calm and collected as he wants us to believe. He is torn between the responsibilities to the Hawk name and the spark he feels for Nila.

In book 3 - Jethro collects the second debt from Nila, but also she comes face to face with the final debt which lights a fire inside her to ensure that she is the last Weaver to pay for the past. At the same time, we have learned more about how Jethro was raised to fulfill his destiny. He is torn between the responsibilities to the Hawk name and the spark he feels for Nila. Will he be what he needs to be to extract the final debt, but will he be able to complete his task. You’ll have to read the series to find out just how twisted this tale is.

In a nutshell: 4.5/5 Stars • Hero (Jethro) • Heroine (Nila) • Plot 4/5 • Writing Style 5/5 • Steam 5/5 • Romance 4/5 • Pacing Steady • MF • Dark and Twisted • Unexpected • Plot twists • Cliffhanger

ok first time reading this author... I could understand the concept of this story but the reality was so far fetched I was trying hard to understand the reason behind the whole facade...
The "hero" in this book is made out to be evil, and yet weak.?? I did not like Jethro from the beginning.... yet by book 3 I was like why not just kill his father and be done with his own torture.... The heroine Nila was not only stupidly lead but was also weak.
complacent would be a term I would use as to her acceptance .....

Don't get me wrong The books are well written...., Sadly tho by the time the hero found his "good" side, it was the end of the first 3 books.... our heroine ... well she was made out to be accepting of her fate yet, fighting every step ... and the vertigo condition she has was laughable to me No offence to those who endure that condition but there are meds to help in that .... yet it was a convenient excuse..... If you like sorted torture, somewhat dark, twisted and the constant back and forth fighting of one min they love, the next they fight ....and you like characters with little or no redeeming qualities, then this book is definitely for you ..... I gave this 3 stars ....it's not my cup of tea .. :) but that doesn't mean it wasn't well written or flows smoothly, and finally reaches a somewhat conclusion for only 3 books ..... But now i will endure the next 3 because I am invested to know the conclusion just for me I'm hoping the next 3 will be more worthwhile to read....

Pepper Winters has a unique way of writing her stories, there is no denying that they are not your typical romances or even a typical dark romance. Noooooooo she excels at writing twisted cleverly crafted stories.

Indebted 1 did not sit well with me at all, I honestly hate Jethro, I didn’t understand him at all. Nila seemed meek and mild but she found her backbone fast! This first book set up the series well and give the reader an idea of what’s to come.

Indebted 2 ramped up the story. Nila has to pay her first debt and we got a glimpse of a different side to Jet. Nila continued to evolve and continued to find her inner strength.

Indebted 3 took this series to a whole other level of cruelty and horrible behaviour. At times I struggled and I’ve read some dark twisted books before. But I think it was the indecision from Jethro & his lack of really doing anything to stop the torture that made me mad! Nike continued to surprise me with her strength. Their feelings for each other were both intense and harrowing.

I often screamed at my kindle for someone to kill Cut, Daniel and Bonnie slowly and painfully. At times I really wanted to slap Jethro and then give me a cuddle lol. Kestrel is just amazing, he’s calm and caring nature was what Nila needed. Nila in my opinion is far too good for the Hawks & the Weavers!!!

Completely Destroyed

A most disturbing, heated and ridiculously passionate and screwed up love story. I swear Pepper Winters writes these stories so well that dark and twisted doesn't even come close to describing them! Jet and Nila's characters are complex enough but add the rest of Jet's sadistic family ( including his grandmother) and these people are downright barbaric! I thought I knew where the story was going but in true Pepper Winters style; she takes the story and characters off in a direction you just don't see coming. If you're like me, you have no choice but to read books 4-7, if for no other reason than to find out what's the real reason behind everything Jet's toxic and twisted family does. Surely, there has to be something more relevant than this ridiculous traditional vendetta that has carried on for years. I know that whatever it is, it's going to be mindblowing, when Pepper reveals it in the rest of the series. And,those books will be just great as the first three were. Wow, wow, wow! I've got to get busy reading because I'm dying to know what happens next! Great 👍 series!

Could not get past first 40% of 1 book, Got totally lost in the debt bs..vague references to it, Mila being so sheltered at the age of 24…if her father meant to hide her why did he give her up for adoption or change her name or not let her get famous…which is a counter diction to sheltering her…where are the modern laws…and Mila mentions she had a sexual encounter so she wasn’t a virgin…but seems to have the personality of a child versus 24 year old..and the vertigo there is medication to treat that ya know…Jethro not sure about him but he seems to be a daddy pleaser. So not a strong character or male. Also FMC spends way too much time in her head…or author likes to constantly repeat statements…and finally if she was wearing a million dollar dress that was sold to a boutique, why would she leave the show wearing it…shouldn’t she want to change out of it first..too may inconsistencies broke up the flow…

I didnt really know what I was getting into reading this box set as I've only read one of pepper winters other books but I did read the mixed reviews first and i have to say reading this you will either love it or hate it especially at the beginning and for quite a way in but I persevered and couldnt put it down.

the beginning is a shock some of the things that happen but the more I read the more I was glued to my seat and I only put the books down to eat and sleep.  The characters and story are great but you know there are secrets been withheld throughout that keeps you wanting to know more and the more I read the more I loved the story and characters.

This is a brilliant story that drew me in and I connected with both characters and the more I read the more I kept reading just to find out what happens next, I really felt for nila and the things she had t go through and I felt for Jethro aswell as there was bigger things controlling him, the story had me hooked and I was on edge all the time wondering what will happen next as the author gives you little clues along the way to make you think what will happen next.

This box set is only half the story another boxset holds the rest of the books which I'm going to start now

I'm bad at reviews, but loved this series. Just finished book #3 in the series and cannot wait to get back into it. Nila was destined to fail. She is kidnapped just as she gets on the top of her game at such a young age, her fashion business really takes off. She must pay a debt to the Hawk family that was generated 600 years prior.
Nila's family never told her about the debt that must be paid and she must be the one to pay it. Many feelings run through her as to understand what this debt is and how it was thrust upon her! Her father has always been her hero and he never let her know about this debt that would end her life.
With a vow to end this debt inheritance and kill the Hawk family, Nila charges forward to not only survive but end this barbaric practice. Worth a 5 star rating!.

Pepper Winters has the ability to paint the most fabulous pictures with words. These first 3 books of the series introduce us to Jethro 'Kite' Hawk and Nila 'Threads' Weaver. This is a complex and intricately woven tale that essentially started some 600 years prior to Jet and Nila's involvement. It is a tale of power, corruption, wealth, love and hate.
These are not easy books to read, there is a great deal of suffering but also tales of great courage. I love how Pepper Winters can reel the reader in and hold you there for the complete journey. At the heart of our story is a tale of growth and development, with and eternal struggle for survival.
I found once I started the series I could not put it down.
Excellent 5 stars.

Wow! Why have I waited so long to start this series. I’ve read Tears of Tess and the Dollars series...both were phenomenal, but this surpasses them! I’ve been unable to put this down! It’s sent me on a rollercoaster ride of so many emotions. There are so many twists and turns it’s unbelievable! At the moment I’m living in a world of Jethro and Nila..two amazing characters. I can’t wait to read the next books in this series. This has got to be the best series I’ve read by any author....and believe me I’ve read lots! Thank you Pepper for an amazing literacy experience! I can highly recommend this.

I wish I could say 4.5 stars. I loved it but there were a few areas lacking. One that bothers me the most, and I see this with authors who apparently have to have a certain number of words, is padding the text with repetition. Nila Weaver is a character with unplumbed depths, which develop by Jethro's treatment. They both repeat their feelings too much and the book loses something when the reader begins to skip over "Oh not this again" parts. In every other way, the story is unique and intriguing. The Hawk family is twisted indeed, but even they have faith in their purpose. I loved it.

There's dark and then there's Indebted

Wow! This series part boxed set was definitely bang for my buck.

I'm new to Ms. Pepper's work but damn she does dark. Like dark you don't want a young impressionable teenager reading ... luckily that's no me.

I'm invested. I need to find out what happens next. Is the story perfect? Nope. Is it pretty? Nope and even given that I want more.

I literally could not put this book down! Pepper Winters is officially my new favorite romance author! The characters are so vibrant and have such depth and complexity, you can't help but want to read more about them so you can maybe unravel a little more about them. This is the second series of books of hers I have read and once again, I bought the next book in the series before I finished this one. I couldn't wait to start the new one!

Can't get enough!

Wow, I don't know where to start. Or where this story is heading. Yes, each book of this series, is a cliff hanger. It's not just the stress, of not knowing the ending. I feel like Nila, being torn from my love.
Yes, these books will inevitably, eventually end, but Ms. Winter's story will be with me, forever.
Thank you for sharing your gift, with the World.
