I couldn't be anything other than a romantic at heart - it's my nature, it's who I am. But this isn't a typical story of traditional love. It isn't a fairy tale. No happily ever after neatly tied up with a shiny bow. It's a memoir of the reality left behind in the wake of grief - the desolation, the resurrection, and final culmination life offers to the fallen. This is a journey through love...the love of self, love of a friend, and sometimes love is ugly, messy -destructive. My name is Bastian Thames...and this is my story.

Chimera by Stephie Walls
4 stars!!!

chimera
noun chi·me·ra \kī-ˈmir-ə, kə-\
• something that exists only in the imagination and is not possible in reality

To be honest this book has taken me by surprise, while I was initially drawn to this book by the cover and synopsis I really should have taken more note of the authors warnings. Stephie Walls is a new to me author and after the roller coaster she has just put me through I will definitely be reading her work again. She spells it out for you, it is not pretty, it is not a neatly tied up happily ever after but it is an honest story of the devastation left in the wake of grief. A hauntingly accurate tale of desolation, anguish, sorrow and the fight just to wake up in the morning. There is a resurrection, but in all honesty, does that pain ever go away? Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Artists feel more, see more, they are innately sensitive souls and Stephie Walls perfectly captured Bastian’s fight to just live after losing his wife.

“Life is macabre, man. It turns to shit quickly without warning; it’s an elusive bitch. One day it’s a plethora of illumination, the next its putrid pestilence.”

Bastian has been in limbo for six years since he lost his wife to cancer. A wife who he had been with since they were kids and a woman he loved with every fibre of his being, that all-consuming, soul mate love that only happens once in a lifetime. His life was over. Once a successful artist, his life had been a constant spiral down since her death, becoming a recluse and a hermit and his only contact with the outside world being his best friend Nate. But a Facebook message from a woman who was also an artist and an uncanny look-a-like of his late wife gave Bastian that kick he needed to break the rot. He began to paint, he found another muse and for once, he had found another friend…Sera, short for Seraphim.

“You’ve turned your wheel for the first time in years. Find the colors of your life again.”

This is not instalove, but a more a case of instafriends. While Bastian could see himself falling for Sera, Sera is already spoken for. But to see these two open up to each other and begin to heal the other was truly beautiful to read about. Chimera is dark in the way that it takes you to the deepest, darkest depths of grief and paints a realistic picture of those who are going through the process and struggling to find the end. But it is not all new doom and gloom as Sera begins to take Bastian’s mind away from his grief and gives him another woman to worry about.

“…the last six years changed my perspective on life. Time is fleeting; it’s infinite but not personally, just universally. Truth changes daily. Nothing is inevitable and death is certain.”

Sera is seriously private but she slowly opens up to Bastian and is open about her lifestyle as the outside gives way to worry. This book does contain some BDSM and while in the first instance I didn’t think it had a place in this story it soon became apparent why it was there. It is definitely not added for the shock and soon becomes an intrinsic part of the story.

“We’re all broken, Sera. Every one of us. Some of our cracks are just more visible than others. That’s what life does to us. Friends are the glue that keeps us from falling apart.”

I can’t really say any more, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, it is one of those books that you need to read and experience for yourself and the plethora of emotions that the author puts you through. I have to say I loved Nate with a passion. He is the epitome of the true best friend. His loyalty and selfless caring of his best friend at times brought tears to my eyes and makes you truly appreciate the importance and benefits of real, true, friendships. I sincerely adored him and my heart broke for him.

“…I fought for five fucking years to get you back to the land of the living. You are not resurfacing in purgatory.”

This was an ending that I will forever remember and kudos to the author for telling the story that her characters demanded. I appreciate an author that goes outside the box and Stephie Walls definitely did that, I applaud you. I loved these characters, I loved this story, while for me it was a little slow in the middle, the beginning and end more than made up for it. I will definitely be checking out other titles from this author.

I've only read one other book by this author but after reading this book I really need to read more as I loved it.

When Bastians wife died he felt as if he died with her. Every day is a struggle.
When he meets Sera online he's amazed at how similar she looks to his deceased wife. This is their story of love, loss and friendship that pulled on all my emotions.

My heart went out to Bastians friend Nate who worried so much about his friend.

Although I thought this book was slow to start I really liked the story. Good storyline and I connected with the characters.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

“Chimera” was the story of Bastian. He struggled in life after losing the two most important things to him: His wife and his art. When he meets a beautiful look-alike of his late wife on Facebook, he thinks that fate has provided him with a second chance in life. Little did he know that fate has a sick sense of humor.

Phew, this book knocked me on my butt. And not in a good way! Honestly, there was so much wrong with it, that I would spoiler too much mentioning all. So, I’ll try to keep it short.

What I liked:
- The writing. I could delve right into the story and felt for the characters.
- Nate, a secondary character
- The very realistic reference to online-dating, because that’s obviously a normal thing nowadays

What I didn’t like:
- The pace of the story. It was too slow for my taste. The reason for that is simple: This book is not focused on the romance, but on the life-story of Bastian, the male MC.
- There were too many things this story has been focusing on. There was the art, which took up 70% of the book. Then there were the slight references to BDSM. Plus there was the fact, that the ever-present shadow of Bastian’s dead wife was a too big issue to believe in any romance blooming between him and Sera, the female MC.
- The twist and turn the story took in the last 6 chapters. I struggled for the majority of the book with the pace and suddenly, all hell broke loose! It was too much and not what I had wished for the poor Hero at all. Yes, it broke my heart.

So, I wouldn’t say, that “Chimera” was a bad book. But it just wasn’t for me. And I think that everyone, who searches for a romance with a heartwarming story woven into it, should NOT read it. Because had I known how much it would crush me in the end, I would have declined the offer to read it, stat. Sorry, Stephie Walls – but my emotions couldn’t handle what you tried to put me through.

All in all, I rate “Chimera” with 3 stars and don’t really know if I’d recommend it to someone. There were some references to violence and this story is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Yes!! These emojis express my exact feelings while reading this book! That being said.... Stephie Walls didn't just go outside of the box... She blew it up and left not a trace!

From the start of the book, I was literally sucked into the book. Now I know that's not unusual for this author but it's the tone in which she started the book. It's hard to describe but I can assure you.... It's one that will leave you feeling floored. That being said, I adore Bastian and sympathize with him. He's a very well thought out and executed character that you're going to be torn between wanting to help and saying " what in the actual phuq" I like that the author doesn't start out with the "problem" she builds up to it and doesn't leave you hanging. She made this book so realistic that I was able to identify with a fictional character! I, upon "meeting" Sera, was not her biggest fan. Although I suspect that was the authors point. However, the author being queen of twists seriously made me like and appreciate Sera. Her secondary characters were all on point and I too came to connect with them. I admit, while this isn't in essence a sexualized book.... The scenes that do contain it are off the charts hot and enough that I finished in a sweaty mess!

Now...... Here's what needs to be said about this book.... I am in complete awe at the authors perception of heartache and angst. Yes... This book has it. I would venture into the "dark" read area as well. I've waited for a while for the author to write another book and damn if she didn't floor me with this. While it's not in the literal sense an HEA, the author portrayed the characters HEA. Ms. Walls is in a few words..... A chameleon of words and writing. I am happy and proud to say that this book is on my top best read and I highly recommend it to all!!

Stephie Walls blurb tels us that Chimera is a a memoir of the reality left behind in the wake of grief — the desolation, the resurrection, and final culmination life offers to the fallen.........

what she does'nt prepare you for is the pain, anguish and sorrow that weeps from this story. The blurb does not do this book justice - there is so much more to it.

SPOILER ALERT

the story is about Bastian Thames .

After losing his beloved wife Sylvie cancer he literally continuous with the monotonous motion of his daily life. He becomes entrenched in Facebook's a fictional world. The more time he spends on Facebook the more he becomes entrenched with the fictional world that brings him some sort of comfort. That is until one fateful day he befriends Sera Martin. Bastian sees Sera (short for Seraphim) as an exact replica of his wife Sylvie.

What follows next is a dialogue between Bastian and Sera that leads Bastian down a rabbit hole that he is not prepared for.

He finds that Sera is in a BDSM relationship but the amount of injuries and bruising he sees on Sera leads him to believe that she is being abused. To try and remove her from the ugliness of the abuse he "sticks" his toes in the water and tries it out. What happens next is a downward spiral of despair for Bastian. Watching the woman he comes to love becoming something that she is not.

I was not prepared for what happens next nor the outcome of this story. For Bastian and Sera what they hoped or wished for was in fact illusionary - simply impossible to achieve.

this is at times dark and for me upsetting and yes I did cry. I cried for the pain and anguish and sorrow that the characters went through and the sheer impossibility that these two would never find peace or love - not with each other.

strong, beautiful writing but be prepared - this is not a love story.

2. a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve.

There are a lot of things that can be said about this book. The author taps into so many various emotions that you don't even realize that she is effecting you until its too late.

Bastian is a labyrinth of emotion after losing his wife and in essence his art. He has spent 5 long years in the darkness. Chimera starts once he starts to venture back into the light. Sera, who he meets via social media helps him navigate through life and hopefully back to his craft.

This is my confession: Chimera is in no way your typical romance. There is no insta-love, Bastian's heart isn't healed right away. While this book might not have your typical HEA either, the ending is perfect for the characters.

I have to admit that though I love Stephie Walls, I did not like this book.

The main character, Bastian, was a painter who comes out of five years of grief when he friends Sera, a look alike of his dead wife, on Facebook. He becomes obsessed with her and tries to change so that she would want him. He had not painted since his wife died but the night that he friends Sera, inspiration strikes and he jumpstarts his career again. Sera becomes his muse.

I have to admit that I did not like many characters in this book. Bastian pissed me off, trying to change for Sera into a Dom-when he really was a loving person who treated women with respect. I did not like his obsession with Sera because I didn't think she deserved it. She wasn't much of anything. I also did not like how he gave up at the end.

I hated Sera who put up with an abusive relationship and then when forced to admit it to herself took the cowards way out. She could have had Bastian and chose her abuser instead.

The only character I liked in this book was Bastian's friend Nate. Nate was smart, caring and knew that Sera was going to ruin Bastian. All in all, not my favorite book.

Unexpected

This book has thrown me for a total loop. It's completely different from anything else I've previously devoured by this author. Oh Bastian, I do love your tormented artistic soul! And gah...Nate! I have no words, she's stolen them all. An unexpected journey with so many twists that will leave you shellshocked and speechless before it's over!

Okay so I hope this doesn't come off wrong. I wouldn't say this was a great book, but at the same time it was a great book. It is also everything that the blurb said it would be and more. I love when an author doesn't do the cookie cutter book and goes outside of the norm and that is was makes this book great. There were just a few things I would change about the plot/characters but other than that it was good. I am telling you now heed the warnings that are given because this book is not something pretty or full of flowers. But it is something entirely different and will rock some emotions out of you.

So our story starts out with Bastian and his form of life. To be honest it isn't really a life and it isn't living.... it’s just not dying. He's been dealing with the death of his wife for the last 5 years and has not handled it well at all......to be honest the only reason he is still alive is he's too chicken to pull the trigger and he thinks about his best friend Nate. Poor Nate. That dude needs a medal and the greatest woman in the world because that dude is a keeper and then some.... I want him to have his own book because he deserves some happiness with what he's had to deal with. Anyways Bastian used to be an artist and pretty much gave that up with the death of his wife. He hangs out on Facebook and kind of stalks people like some crazy person, until he sees a photo of a girl named Sera who is the exact image of his dead wife.... could be her twin they look so much alike.

The two hit it off and start chatting on facebook and after 5 years Bastian has some inspiration to paint. He creates something in his kitchen and life starts to go from there. Nate is happy because some semblance of his friend is coming back to life and Bastian is finding creativity and an outlet again. This continues and him and Sera have this friendship/love interest thingy going. Now Sera keeps showing up with different marks and bruises on her body and when Bastian asks about it she constantly tells him it isn’t what he thinks. Finally, one night she tells him about her sexual history and how the normal relationship won’t work for her. She’s into BDSM and currently the submissive of a Dom…but they aren’t romantically involved and it was a scene done wrong. She tells him to research the info and he does. I was really excited for him because he was really getting into this and I thought hey this is going to be their break.

This is where everything kind of take a turn and I’m not sure who I’m angry at. Sera’s Dom is a hush hush topic, but I gathered who it was early on. Bastian’s learnings from a Dom to become a Dom weren't the greatest. While he did learn some basics about what it is to be a Dom (even though he didn't see it that way) at the same time I don’t feel he learned a whole lot (in that short time) and then was pretty much like forget it. But what he did learn didn’t help him because even though it was painfully obvious he was into Sera…. apparently she didn’t like him…. I kind of hate her because I feel like she used him. His personality isn't really dominate and I may not know a whole hell of a lot of real BDSM (not the 50 shades stuff) but what Sera was in was not safe nor BDSM….it was abuse and I feel sorry for her because she was so battered and confused and lost she didn’t know the difference anymore. For someone to claim they are a Dom whose purpose is to look after their sub in all forms; pleasure and punishment used his power in completely the wrong way and brought a bad name and image to his particular “world”

From here things only go downhill. Bastian gets into some…um…. interesting situations that could have been good for him under different circumstance. Nate…. poor Nate doesn’t know what to do to help his love sick friend or Sera. And Sera……poor Sera isn’t handling life very well. I didn't mention before, but she was an artist as well and as we continued the book (after her gallery opening) I’m not sure if she did any other pieces. By the end of the book I was sobbing my eyes because of the sorrow and semi real lifeness of this book. Not every story has a happily ever after. Not every person can always be saved or helped or freed. Sometimes real life gets in the way and I love when authors do this because it keeps us grounded. This book will cause you to feel pretty much every emotion which makes this author an even greater writer. I really do recommend this book as a read if nothing else to learn from. And I give mad props up to Stephie for writing this!!!

Chimera was an interesting read. Not quite what I was expecting, especially at the end, but a good read. It had a lot of situations that are familiar, but the circumstances were used in a way I haven't seen before. I really enjoyed that and would recommend giving this book a read if only for how different it is.

I don't want to say too much about this story as doing so would give away a lot. However I will try and talk about what worked for me without giving it all away. Bastian is a wreck. He has not really been living for the past five years. Ever since his wife died. He just doesn't know how to go on without her. He loved her deeply, and ever since then he hasn't done much of anything. He was a famous artist, but since her death he hasn't painted a single thing. He just doesn't have the inspiration, the need to paint that he once did.

The only reason Bastian has survived this long is his best friend since birth Nate. I really liked Nate. I felt for him. It can't be easy to constantly be worried that your best friend is going to off himself because he is so broken. Nate comes by every day just to make sure that Bastian is okay. That he is still there. That nothing happened. He is an amazing friend and you could be so lucky as to have someone like him in your life.

Now when the book opens Bastian has just seen Sera online. She looks just like his wife. They could be twins and because he is hurting so he reaches out to her. He hasn't really interacted with people besides Nate in a long time, but they quickly start hanging out and Sera brings Bastian back to life. He immediately starts creating again and people are loving his work. He is collaborating with another artist on some photo/painting things, he is getting out amongst people, he is having gallery exhibits, he is starting to become himself again. Only he wants Sera, but Sera has secrets. Here is where it got interesting for me because Sera's secrets are something I am interested in, but the context was used in a way I haven't seen before. The way the author dealt and talked about it all made me think she really knows her stuff. She was not one to mistake things for something that they are not, and I was really curious to see how it would all play out.

Now things aren't just sunshine and roses now that Bastian has found a new muse. He knows Sera is keeping things from him, knows that things aren't exactly as she says, but he can't really do anything about it. He is a bit dense as right from the beginning it was obvious what was happening and who was involved, but it takes most of the book before he figures it out. It was a tad on the annoying side since it was glaringly obvious, but whatever. Oh and once Bastian finds out most of Sera's secrets he starts to try and learn more. That was all interesting, some of the moments on his journey or knowledge were really interesting especially his conversations with Nate, but some of the storylines there seemed to just not go anywhere. I felt like I was left hanging or wondering what the purpose was other than to add something to the story that wasn't necessarily needed. Or it needed to be a bit more to really fit in or something. It was not enough to really work for me, but I did enjoy it. It was an interesting read and the ending was a bit of a surprise, I didn't see it going there, I just wish the rest of the story would have been a touch better to really get the full impact. It was a good read and kept me entertained and wanting to see what would happen in the end.

Chimera by Stephie Walls is a contemporary romance novel with some dark edges.

“If I could be captured in colors, this is the expression of my life. It will be very hard to let it go.”

I first began reading Author Stephie Walls’ books with Beauty Mark. Her writing is unique and refreshing, always bringing out a deluge of emotional highs and lows. Chimera was the next step for me in reading more of her previously published novels. I went into it mostly blind and was not at all prepared for the depth of story that was to unfold from page one until The End. It was literally an emotional avalanche for my emotions.

“Slowly, I’m climbing the mountain to peace. I may never reach it, but for the first time in years, I have the determination and fight to attempt the hike to the top again. Daily, we take for granted the blessings we have in life, having them ripped away it’s painfully sobering.”

Once again, I was in awe of the well-crafted and articulated story by Author Stephie Walls. The characters in Chimera each had specific qualities that added to the lives of those around them but also served to propel the story forward. Seeing the world through Bastian's eyes, the eyes of an artist, was a unique perspective on color and how it shapes our world. Nate, Bastian’s best friend, was unwavering in his devotion and never ceased to be the rudder on Bastian's ship. The bromance between these two made me giggle and fondly sigh. The introduction of Sera to Bastian’s life was a bit baffling. I became so frustrated with her decisions and choices. By the end, all I felt for her was sorrow, as I watched the repercussions of her discretions shape not only her life but influence Bastian's as he struggled to find himself and reclaim his existence. There were times of invigoration, watching the characters I had fallen for reach crescendos. But, there were also moments in which heartbreak became my companion, watching the plant as it withered and hoping it would not fade.

“Time is fleeting; it’s infinite, but not personally, just universally. Truth changes daily. Nothing is inevitable and death is certain.”

I arrived at some places in this book that were like total magic; not the kind you see when reading a paranormal or fantasy book, but the kind you experience when the words are awe-inspiring and swirl around in your head creating an unparalleled atmosphere of astonishment. The edge of mystery throughout kept me on my toes, with questions constantly churning through my head, and at times, completely blind-sided me and gave me a stutter-stop in my reading. About one-third of the way through, the plot twisted a bit, bringing a different kind and level of angst the carried me all the way to the end.

“At the heart of it, you are who you are. I believe people can always improve upon that, but your heart, you core, that will always be the same.”

This book found places buried deep in my soul and opened them up. It was not always pretty and, in fact, had moments that were excruciatingly painful to read. But, as I have come accustomed to with this author's writing, it was phenomenal in its telling and showing of the depths of love and loss one can experience.

“Her fate was sealed long before she ever met you. You’re not the author of her story, nor the editor. You were simply a reader.”

WARNING!!!!!! This book will cause tears. It's an emotional tale of a man that fights his way back from heartbreak only to find himself back there. You can feel his pain in each word. Not a lot of people can identify with this pain. Although it's a sad tale, it needs to be told. It shows the depth of people's love for each other. I loved it even through the darkness. I could feel each brush stroke that Bastian took. His paintings came to life through Stephie's words. Great Book. But don't think going into it that it's a happy feel good book.

It has been 2 days since I have finished Chimera. It has been 2 days where I want to pick up something and throw it. If Stephie Walls was standing in front of me I would shake her ask I am screaming WHY!!! WHY!!!! WHY!!!!.

I am not going to lie I got to a point where I didn't want to finish it. It wasn't moving as fast as I was used to. I couldn't read it in one sitting and kept coming back to it. I called a dear friend who absolutely adored this book and who knows my style of reading and said to her "I can't continue its not moving fast enough. If you tell me to push through it I will because I trust you" She insisted everything is slow for a reason and as soon as Bastain and Ferry are on the road for NYC it will all pick up and fall together. She said if the first half wasn't the way it was the 2nd half would make no sense. She was true to her word. Once they hit the road for NYC I couldn't put it down. The story is around 55% when it takes off.

Bastain was a well known author who lost the love of his life since childhood, his wife Sylvie to cancer. When she died Bastain died mentally. He was a shell of a man who wanted to end it more times than not but was always afraid of the pain that may be on the other side. He stopped painting and disappeared off the face of the art world. His parents even gave up on him because they couldn't hand his grief. The only person to stay by his side day in and day out was his best friend Nate. They were best bros since the embryo. He didn't give up on Bastain. Not once.

Bastain's only connection to the outside world was Facebook. He would have minimal interactions with people and the goings on. That is when he saw Sera. She was a near perfect image of his wife Sylvie. Something in Sylvie stirred something in Bastain again. Just her image made him feel more than he had felt in 5 years.

They start chatting on Facebook and Bastain slowly starts coming back to life. He is using Sera to bring him back to life but what Bastain doesn't realize is that Sera is slowly giving up on hers. This book is definitely not a HEA. Not for anyone. This book is filled with desperation, angst and loss.

At the end my heart was in a million pieces, I couldn't breath and I just wanted to hold Nate.

Absolutely Mind Blowing.......

I finished reading this book late into last night..And now, a whole day later, I still haven't recovered.
If I could shout from the rooftops and tell everyone to read this story I would.
Make no mistake, it's hard, it's heartbreaking, it's raw and filled with so much pain I nearly buckled under the pressure of it all, but boy is it worth it!
The only thing I would say is not to read this book if you are not in a stable place mentally..I questioned my choice about reading it at this moment in time, but believe it or not it made me stronger.
Bastian lost his wife and for years couldn’t see the light..but a chance encounter of sorts helped him get his life back on track or started to anyway. Other characters came into play and it was a journey, not only for Bastian but for the reader too.
I don't know if I have adequate words to describe this book and how it made me feel.
It was an all consuming and kind of obsessive feeling, while at the same time I needed a breather once in a while to ground me back to reality. That’s how powerful and poignant this story is.
If you read one book this year, please, read this one!

Every now and then a book comes my way that totally blows my mind, rips my heart out ,depletes my Kleenex supply . I become an emotional mess and man alive I just loose the plot.
Chimera did more than that ! The words are etched in my heart and the characters will forever be apart of me.
Thank you to Stephie Walls for creating a beautiful artistically written book it's pure art and I feel extremely privilege to have read it .
Now that I've poured my heart out let me tell you a little about this masterpiece.
Bastian , a very talented and much loved artist goes off the map after the loss of his wife and it seems like he may actually die of a broken heart . Thanks to Nate ,his brother from another for being there and supporting him.
The bond he shares with Nate is a gift and many have mistaken their relationship but let me tell you both are hot blooded males that enjoy the opposite sex.
Sara .....there's so much to this being but thinking of her shatters my heart and soul into a million pieces ! Bastian and Sara is an artistic Romeo and Juliette. Stephie Walls has a new fan.

OMG! OMG! OMFG! This book, this author, this everything.

I savored this book from the beginning. It is heartbreaking as hell, not even gonna lie but has probably the hottest sex scene I've ever read!

The friendships in this book were amazing. The love and devotion that Nate has for his best friend is beyond anything you could imagine. Bastion has seen so much tragedy in his life but yet he's got so much love left, he's willing to do anything to be who Sera needs, even if he loses himself in the process.

Sera deals with more than anyone should have to endure, she's in so deep that she can't see what's right in front of her.

Another thing I'm not gonna lie about, they do not ride off into the sunset, that's all I'm saying about that! It's not your typical HEA if I'm being honest, but it ends how it needs to

A unique fascinating story of love, grief, friendship and recovery . Beautifully written moving tragic story! The story of Bastian begins years after the loss of his wife and his attempt to cope with his grief by turning to Facebook! I laughed, I cried, and I couldn't put it down! He makes friends with Sera and their virtual friendship turns into something he never imagined! Bastian's story is intense, gripping and dark! One of coming to terms with what you lost and what is left to discover. The role Sera plays in his recovery is totally unexpected!
Sometimes the journey for recovery and salvation is based on our own interpretations! I can't say more without giving out spoilers, but I will say this book is a must read!

Wow! I was given this book by an author friend who was raving about it. I wasn't 100% sure what it was about other than I really had to read it. She hasn't let me down yet so I jumped in. I'm sure I was entertaining her by my instant messages on FB as I went.

What a book! Nothing I expected, I got way more than that. A ride of life so to speak. The characters and the story made you feel what they felt and more. This book will stay with me for awhile.

I wont talk about the story in detail as to not ruin the ride for other riders... What I will say is that you should ride the ride and read it. Ill virtually hold your hand too. :)

Dynamite! This book is just that.. dynamite. Stephie Walls takes you on a rollercoaster ride for the very beginning.
Bastian, highly respected in the art community, has checked out of life after the passing of his wife. After meeting a fellow artist and communicating with her, Sera gets Bastian back into the art world.
Being a huge fan of Stephie Walls, I'm quick to read anything from her at once and this book was on different. Chimera will leave you feeling like no other book has before. I loved it from the very first page to the very last page.

I was intrigued by the blurb for this one, however, really had no clue what I was getting into. I am glad I went into this book blind. This book is intense and took my emotions on a roller coaster! This book is love, loss, pain...this book is life! This is my first book by Stephie Walls and let me tell you, she can write. I was captivated by this story and my heart broke for these characters...

The characters are so relatable, it felt as if I knew them personally. Bastian's character had me hooked from the start. I really liked that this wasn't the typical romance novel!! Those bore me these days because they're so predictable. Chimera left you guessing and that kept me turning the pages. If you're looking for a different type of love story, this is it! It's an emotional ride from the beginning to the end! I really enjoyed this story!

Great Writing, but X rated

This was a touching and unending love story. I believe that this story would have been just as good without the unmentionable sex. When I got to that point, I put the book down. I looked back at other reviews, and finished it. I still didn't care for the extreme sex parts. The story overall was touching. The writer did a great job.

Grief is an awful roller coaster that not everyone survives. This book is very well written and you truly feel all of the emotions that Bastian is feeling as he's going through his fight to survive and live in his new world without Sylvie. Anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to the emotions of this book.

A book to be felt, breathed in through the words.. Absorbed
There are not adequate words to give you the feelings and emotions in this book. It is one that must be read to even get an idea. One of my top reads of 2016!! 5 stars is not sufficient. Read it. Live it.

I picked up this book because someone recommended it. It wasn't what I expected it and I ended up enjoying it. The first 30% or so was slow and I almost stopped reading but I kept at it. I'm glad I didn't stop. It was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. A definite must read.

If you like dark reads this is definitely your book!! It was a little slow in the beginning. Lost of art talk. But once you got into it, it went quickly. This book left me speechless......hoping for a second book to tell about one certain character!
