2017 Selah Awards NomineeChapel where anything can happen, and usually does. “Claire and her best friend Patsy are as lovable as ever; even with all the new problems they face, they keep their sense of humor. The storyline is believable, and readers will identify with issues that are mentioned in the book. Mulligan writes with humor and wit. This book does not disappoint.” - Romantic Times, 4-Stars A homeless author, a heartbroken daughter, and a theatre ghost. There's trouble in Chapel Springs. There's always someone new in Chapel Springs—someone who is either coming home or stirring up trouble. A best-selling author's latest book is a flop. While the reviewers are happily skewering her, Claire’s racecar-driver-husband walks out on her. Evicted because he hasn't paid the lease on their condo in months, Claire discovers the no-count-jerk also drained their bank accounts. Homeless and broke, she and her little boy have no choice but to retreat to the house she inherited from her nana in Chapel Springs—the house that's been gutted. Then, a stranger knocks on her door. One that will change the course of her life. Howie Newlander is back in town. After the residents thwarted his plans for a Miami-style resort on Chapel Lake, he's running for mayor and stirring up the farmers by spreading rumors about diverted water and misused taxes. The Lakeside Players want to remodel the town's old theater, named for Claire's late great-aunt. Empty and boarded up for the last forty years, the theatre is rumored to be haunted. When Newlander and Mayor Riley go head-to-head, Claire gets caught in the middle. Claire's youngest daughter is in love with a non-believer whose daddy is Claire's nemesis, the mayor. Having him part of her family isn't in her plan. The years of heartache before her husband became a Christian should warn her daughter off this boy. So far, her daughter's heart isn't hearing the warnings. With hearts pulled in all directions, will they find a home in Chapel Springs? I've been a voracious reader ever since my mother instilled within me her own love of reading at an early age. Together we would escape together into worlds otherwise unknown.

A new love entered my life when I saw Mary Martin in PETER PAN. Struck with a fever from which I never recovered, I submerged myself in drama through high school and college, but, alas, Broadway never found my phone number.

While a large, floppy straw hat is my favorite, I've worn many different ones: hairdresser, legislative affairs director (that's a fancy name for a lobbyist), business manager, creative arts director and writer. My lifetime experience provides a plethora of fodder for my Southern-fried fiction (try saying that three times fast).

I wrote and published my first script in 1996 and to date have over 4-dozen scripts in print, nine books, and numerous articles on various aspects of Christian drama and the craft of writing. In Jan of 2003, having quit my job with my husband’s encouragement, I began to write full time. I reside in Sugar Hill, Georgia with my artist husband and a rascally Rottweiler.

Home to Chapel Springs begins with Claire and Patsy and the morning coffee girls, that meet at Dee's and Thou's, stewing and fretting over the race for Mayor of the town's upcoming election. Evil Howie has returned to town and want to run against Mayor Felix for the position as mayor. Every one knows Howie is up to no good when he tries to convince the part time residents that Mayor Felix is wasting money and over spending.
The town council decides to look into reopening the old theater that's been closed for 40 years. Howie immediately springs into action claiming the building should be torn down and a new community center built in its place. Rumor has it that the theater is haunted and there are reports of strange lights being seen from inside the old building and also sightings of Claire's late Aunt Lola moving around and passing by Windows.
Evil Howie gets the area farmers upset when the springs fail to run through their properties and losing their fresh supply of water. The natural springs were shifted a few years back when the state blasted through the area to put in a new highway. Howie convinces the farmers that this somehow is Mayor Felix's fault. Things don't look good for poor Felix's reelection.
A writer down on her luck gets the shaft from her good for nothing husband. Carin and her young son JJ is left on their own when her husband takes off with another woman and empties her bank account leaving her to fend for herself. Carin and JJ move to Chapel Springs to live in the house left to her by her late grandmother , but is totally unprepared for what she finds when she arrives at the house.
I found a range of emotions in this 3rd book of the series. I laughed and cried and set on the edge of my seat a time or two. I loved the series and I thought this book was the best so far. Love comes to the story when the town's people rise to the occasion to help Carin in her time of need. Claire even defends poor Felix against Howies attacks on his record as the Mayor. You'll love it when Claire and Felix and Jim Bob the sheriff actually get into the theater and look through it. I hope that you will read this whole series . Lots of humor and good clean reading.

Wow, oh wow! Ane Mulligan knows how to write an intriguing tale that I was caught up in from the start. Claire and Patsy are at it again in Home to Chapel Springs. Chapel Springs is filled with delightful residents who truly have become family to this reader and a place I want to go visit.

New folks are coming to Chapel Springs not only for a visit but to reside. Carin, an author who is broken in many ways is one of the new residents moving into her nana's home. The loveable characters of Chapel Springs are more than willing to assist her in making her nana's home livable. Will Carin really be able to start over especially when someone finds her that she had wanted to see for so long?

There are so many twists and turns in this true to life tale that I couldn't stop reading till I read the last word. There are characters you'll love and laugh at, then others you'll want to knock in the head. Will Mayor Felix be able to defeat Howie Newlander in the election? Who is responsible for the ghost in the closed theatre in Chapel Springs?

Home to Chapel Springs is filled with laughter, tears, heartache, deep hurt and pain, love and even romance with young couples. Most of all, Ane has created characters who's faith and trust in God will see them through each storm they face.

I encourage readers to order a copy of Home to Chapel Springs and read this outstanding novel by Ane Mulligan. Home to Chapel Springs could be read as a standalone but readers would appreciate the characters and the charming town of Chapel Springs by reading Chapel Springs Revival and Chapel Springs Survival first.

I rated this book 5 stars and would enjoy hearing about the lovable residents of Chapel Springs, GA in another book by Ane Mulligan. I received a complimentary e-ARC of this book from the author for my honest review which I have given.

Ane Mulligan is a new author to me, and I discovered that this particular novel is the third in the Chapel Springs series. That being said, I don't feel that I missed anything by reading this book as a stand alone. It was well rounded on its own. I may have missed some character development having not read the prequels in the series, but most characters were fairly easily identified as the book progressed.

There was a lot of action throughout, but each theme was easily understood, and woven together well throughout the plot. Chapel Springs is a friendly and welcoming community, and the residents accept new residents with warmth and acceptance. I found that refreshing. Spirituality is a strong force throughout, and carries a very strong Christian influence.

My only personal aversion in Home to Chapel Springs is the overuse of pet nicknames throughout the book. Many readers wouldn't have a problem with it, but it's annoying to me, particularly when mature adults use childlike names for one another. For the most part I found this to be an enjoyable novel and recommend it for a relaxing weekend read.

Ane Mulligan’s characters always bring a smile. Claire is at it again and her BFF and loving husband do their best to reign her in. There are two stories merging through this novel. Claire’s escapades and Carin’s return to Chapel Spring. Carin’s writing muse has hidden away frustrating her efforts to write another novel. Her self-absorbed husband has left her and their son with no money and no other choice but to live in the house she inherited from her Nana in Chapel Springs. There are so many layers to Carin’s story and the ending is not a romance but discovery and a new beginning. She finds support and familial love in the close-net community. Claire is actually supporting her enemy the Mayor in this novel as they join forces to stop slander and a mysterious ghost from wreaking havoc on the community. The two stories ebb and flow keeping me turning pages. I wanted to know Carin better and see what other trouble Claire would get herself into. I wish Chapel Springs was a real place because I’d move there in a heartbeat.

I wish Chapel Springs was a real place because I'd love to move there and be friends with the characters, especially Claire and Patsy. I'd meet my friends at Dees N Doughs every morning for a cup of coffee and a pastry and talk about what's going on around town. And in this latest installment of the Chapel Springs series, there is certainly a lot going on! A former resident comes back stirring up trouble for the mayor in his campaign to be re-elected. Many of the townspeople see a "ghost" in the abandoned theatre that sits next to the church. A well known author comes back where she grew up to a shell of a house left to her by her adopted grandmother. Right before that her husband walks out on her and their son, draining out all their bank accounts and leaving months of unpaid bills. On top of all that she has a writer's block like no other! It was so heartwarming to see the residents take in one of their own and rally around her. And one of Claire's daughters seems to be seriously interested in a non-believer. How does everything get resolved?
Ane Mulligan has a wonderful way of making her book characters so real and so lovable, well not all lovable, but real. I've read her other Chapel Springs books and enjoyed them as well. I'm hoping there will be another Chapel Springs book. Weddings are coming up and other things that can't be missed. And I want to go to The Painted Loon and buy one of Claire's whimsical pots!
I received an ebook copy from the publisher through the author for my honest opinion, which I have given.

This is my second Chapel Springs book by Ane Mulligan and I was delighted again. She writes several captivating stories into the plot. Claire and Patsy have been BFFs their whole lives and their families have grown up with weddings in the horizon. There is a mayoral race in Chapel Springs that places the town council in need of actions to bring peace to this little burg. A newcomer to Chapel Springs, Carin, a successful author and her young son arrive penniless after her husband leaves and takes all of her books' commissions. She is depleted financially, spiritually, and is scrambling to find ideas to write a new book. Surprises await her as she learns to wait on God for everything in her life. Claire and Patsy are weaved into all of the lives and action bringing humor, faith, and friendship everywhere they go as in the other Chapel Springs books. I would love to have them as my buds and meet daily at Dee's and Dough's for coffee, tea, and breakfast with them. This book is very well written with faith and life lessons intertwined. I highly recommend Home to Chapel Springs and this author, Ane Mulligan.

Ane Mulligan has truly constructed the perfect fictional town. I would love to retire there. I say, perfect, but perfect is not calm. Chapel Springs is a little tourist town always looking for ways to grow, while maintaining its small-town charm. The inhabitants are the warmest people you would want to meet anywhere. From klutzy, artist Claire (who has a nose for trouble but a heart to help those who need a friend); to her nemesis, the mayor Felix, who asks her to lead his campaign; to a washed up writer who returns to her grandmother's home; the people of Chapel Springs are dynamic and often surprising in their growth and ingenuity. I must admit, there are a few characters that hail from the dark side, as no town probably is totally perfect, but that gives our story its adventure and our characters the impetus to grow or regress.

Ane truly knows how to turn a phrase and makes good use of colloquialisms and humor to drive the conversations. I laughed out loud, I was near tears, I held my breath as the story lines twisted and turned suddenly, intricately coming together to tell the beautiful tale of imperfect people who love their God and their town. Don't miss this third book in the Chapel Springs series by Ane Mulligan.

I was gratefully gifted an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Ane Mulligan has written a book that just can’t be denied! Once you pick it up and begin to read — you’re hooked — to the very end.

And it’s not because aliens are taking over the planet . . . or super heroes are saving the planet. There are no time travelers, no vampires, no diseases.

What there is — is a great story about normal people!

Well, Ane did have to throw in some really cool characters, like a racecar driver and a best-selling author. But here’s the catch. They really are normal people — with normal problems. The racecar driver walks out on his wife, taking all her money — and leaves her with nothing but heartache, bills, and their son.

And that’s just a small part of the book!

I love reading books by Ane Mulligan, because she writes about life — the good, the bad, and the ugly. But even when I find myself identifying with her characters, I also find myself laughing at them. And my life — my problem — seems a bit easier to bear.

If you take nothing else away from my thoughts, please let me encourage you to read Home to Chapel Springs. If you get the chance, get the entire series — and when you have a long weekend or some vacation time, read them all in order.

You’ll be glad you did.

Happy Reading!!!

HOME TO CHAPEL SPRINGS BY ANE MULLIGAN
Starts out with Carin and her husband, Wick a race car driver, has taken all their money and closed all the accounts, the child JJ's tuition has not been paid in 4 month and neither has the condo they live in and they are being evicted. he's run off with a new woman. She is an author and her latest book is just out but the reviews are not good....the house in Chapel Springs, her grandparents would be there for her. The remodeling using her money should be done now as Wick took care of it all....
Story also follows Claire, a local potter and the reelection campaign in Chapel Springs. Her daughter is dating one who's not religious and that bothers her.
Ryan a returning military man with just one arm shows up and he used to look after Nana and he will look after her and make sure the place is secure and safe..
Carin hopes getting back home she can reconnect to church once again. Claire is busy with getting the ghost ridden from the theater...
Carin gets back to her writing and surprises come to light with how and who people that help her.
Liked all the mysteries and how they are solved. Reader's guide at the end and recipes too!

Chapel Springs is the ideal peaceful town to the outside but on the inside it is full of fun, just enough quirkiness, and some strife. Claire and Patsy are at it again. Ane Mulligan knows how to make her characters loveable and her stories endearing. One laughs, cries, and holds their breath as you turn the pages to find out what is happening.
With her latest book a flop, Carin and her young son are dealt another blow when her husband leaves her with unpaid bills and a drained bank account. Lucky for her she has her grandmother's house in Chapel Springs to call home. But when she arrives, will is be the safe haven she needs?
Also in town is Howie Newlander. Stirring up trouble is his middle name. Will Claire and her nemesis Felix be able to stop him?
Who is haunting the theater? By finding the ghost will Claire be able to save not only the theater but a life as well?
Home to Chapel Springs is where I would love to be. May I move there?

Read first from 6/24/18 to 6/26/18. Awesome book! I quite literally couldn't put it down, and stayed up half the night reading it. While the characters do go through some pretty bad trials, she shows how God always brings us through them working things out for our good. We also get to see God wooing someone back to. Him. Most of all, we see God's love in action in the various characters. In this book you get mystery, suspense, and romance all rolled into one. It's a good and fun read you won't want to miss.

Edited to add: Read again 4/5/19 to 4/6/19 after reading Chapel Springs Revival . Revival was so bad that it made me doubt my own review of this book in the series. But I discovered they're nothing alike. This is a great book, with real characters, and a great story. Once again I found that I didn't want to put it down. (On the other hand, I couldn't wait to stop reading Revival.) I'll be deleting Revival from my library, but keeping this one to read again one of these years.

This is my favorite thus far in the Chapel Springs series.... Ane has a God given talent to put words together and capture your attention. Home to Chapel Springs, did not disappoint... once I was able to start reading it, I didn't want to put it down. There are still characters from the previous books and new characters added. I was so captivated by Carin and the story unfolding before me. In this book Ane dedicated a chapter to the POV of Carin and one to Claire which really brings life to the book. I hope to see Carin continue into the books to come. Loved the turn of the story with Mel and hope to see her story continue to unfold as the books continue.
Ane, if you read this review... know that I thoroughly enjoyed it and think this is your best book of the series yet. You're continuing to blossom in your writing.

I received this from Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas in exchange for an honest review. I love this series and was honored to read and review this story. Chapel Springs is a wonderful town with some strong and incredible people. Carin had everything against her, and it was so sweet to the town rally around her. Her son JJ steals the show. A sweet story and a very enjoyable read.

If you haven’t read any of Ane Mulligan’s Chapel Springs series, what are you waiting for? Consider this your “engraved invitation” to immerse yourself in the lives of Claire Bennett and her best friend, Patsy Kowalski as they stick their noses in everybody’s business – friend and foe alike. Claire will have you in stitches with her hilarious turns of phrase and her tendency to ‘remove right foot, insert left’ as she repeatedly puts her foot in her mouth. Never fear, Patsy keeps her in line with several swift kicks to the ankle – under the table, of course. The good news about these two? There is no one better to have in your corner if life sends major problems your way.
Best-selling author, Carin Jardine, has been hit by some of those ‘major problems.’ She kisses her racecar driving husband goodbye, wishes him luck on his race, and sits down to work on her next book. When the day’s mail brings an eviction notice, calls to their apartment manager reveal that her husband hasn’t paid their rent in three months. When she picks up her son at his exclusive school, she is met by the headmistress who gives her the news that her son’s tuition has not been paid for four months. A trip to the bank then reveals that her husband has cleaned out their accounts – even the one that was solely in her name – leaving her with nothing but bills and her grandmother’s house in Chapel Springs. When she finally gets an answer from her husband’s phone, it’s another woman on the other end. Adding insult to injury, the critics are skewering her newest book and, when her agent learns that her husband left her, the agency summarily dumps her. Will moving to Chapel Springs give her and JJ the new start they need, away from the limelight she’s lived in for years?
As if Carin’s problems aren’t enough for Claire and company to deal with, Howie Newlander is back in town and causing trouble for the mayor and town council. Can Claire thwart Howie’s scheming with some schemes of her own? Will her attention be divided between too many crises coming at her at once? When her youngest daughter, Melissa, begins dating the mayor’s son – an unbeliever – again, Claire is hard pressed to keep her mouth shut about the situation. Carin, Howie, and Melissa, are plenty to worry about. Then, reports start coming in that people are seeing strange lights in the boarded-up theater in town. Could there be a ghost haunting the building, just when the town is considering restoring it?
Home to Chapel Springs is a delight. Every story thread ties neatly into its own bow and the whole tells the story of a town I would love to live in! This is a story of grace, forgiveness, and standing for what is right. It is also the story of a town filled with people who live the story of the Good Samaritan, offering friendship to the stranger and help to the needy. I have loved this series and I absolutely would recommend it to others!

When I first picked up Home To Chapel Springs by Ane Mulligan, I read the first two chapters and didn’t think I would like this book. I DON’T know where my mind was at that time! A couple of weeks later, I began reading the novel all over again and loved it! In the plot, there was always something new coming up. I would think I had the conclusion all figured out and new twists and turns would take me somewhere else. The setting takes place in Chapel Springs, a small touristy lakeside town where the year round residents are a close knit community family. One of the main characters, Carin Jardine, is a bestselling author whose race car husband steals all her money and leaves with another woman leaving her with their small son and nowhere to go except her grandmother’s house in Chapel Springs that was left to her. The house, which her husband had been having remodeled, has been gutted and doesn’t even have a working bathroom. What in the world is she going to do? No money, her latest book is a flop, and a rundown house. How will she support her child and herself? Another plot occurring in the book deals with the character of Claire, a long time residence of Chapel Springs who is involved on the city council with the mayor in keeping the small town from being taken over by Howie Newlander’s plans to become the new mayor and turning the town into a resort. Who will win in the election? To find the answer to these questions, you will have to read the book. You won’t be sorry, I promise. You may even want to visit Chapel Springs. I know I do!. I received a copy from the author and publisher of The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review.

"Home to Chapel Springs" by Ane Mulligan has the most perfect, picturesque, small-town charm anywhere. The people are dynamic and enterprising in their growth, smartness and ingenuity. Ane turns phrases with dexterity, making lavish use of in-vogue colloquialisms and fast humor, to drive her readers to laughter and tears, as the story lines twist and turn effortlessly, intricately spinning the beautiful tale of charming people who love God. This is an inspiring story of faith, with a touch of humor, a dab of mystery, silent heartache and poignant tears. We marvel at the peculiar quirkiness of the town's people and take delight in the every day drama, mysterious intrigue, and lighthearted romance of their lives. Brimming with delightful humor, wit, intelligence, shrewdness, astuteness, cleverness, candidness, common sense, wisdom, sagacity, judgment, acumen and insight, "Home to Chapel Springs" entertains its readers from a dramatic, inspiring start to a flourishing, spellbound finish. Ane Mulligan is the perfect storyteller, an amazing author who knows how to create a charming novel for her readers to enjoy. Ane has a natural aptitude and sparkling wit to use words and ideas in a quick and inventive way to create dashing humor, wittiness, drollery, jokes, witticisms, quips and puns to delight her readers and render her novels unforgettable!

Home to Chapel Springs by Ane Mulligan is another winning book in the Chapel Springs Series. The charming small town, the endearing characters, and the intriguing events captivate the reader. Best-selling author, Carin Jardine, suddenly finds her life in shambles—her race-car driver and financially irresponsible husband has walked out, leaving her financially broke and homeless with the unexpected eviction notice and her last novel supposedly flopped miserably. She and her young son take refuge in the house that her nana left her in Chapel Springs—the house that her husband supposedly was having renovated. At her arrival in Chapel Springs the residents, friends from her childhood, surround her son and her with support, care, and much-needed love. Other side stories are quite engaging too. The town’s old theater seems to be haunted by a ghost, a scheming and vengeful, realtor campaigns against the mayor and the plans of the townspeople, and a mother’s concern for her daughter’s choices for her life all lend warmth and hilarity to the story. A must-read novel for those who like heart-warming and entertaining stories. I received this book through TBCN but not directed to give a favorable review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book that I highly recommend.

Love this story and all the characters! Back to Chapel Springs and all its lovable drama. Claire is in the middle of things in this eclectic town and has a few lessons to learn herself. Carin is a newcomer who seems to have terrible trouble following her every step. Mayor Felix has competition that is fighting dirty! And…is there a ghost?! The story has all the wonderful characters that feel like pieces of a small town puzzle. They all fit and flow in this story and keep you turning the pages. Each character feels like family and leave you cheering for them in their situations. I loved the mystery surrounding the old theater and how that plays a part in everything. If you want to keep up with these families and their lives, heartaches, laughter, accomplishments and discoveries then you need to add this to your bookshelf!
I was given the book. All opinions are my own.

Carin and J.J. move to Chapel Springs to her grandmothers house after her husband took all the money from their joint account and almost all from her personal account, leaving her with unpaid bills and nowhere else to go. Upon getting there she found the house had been gutted. So she was starting over on a shoestring.

There she also meets Claire, Patsy, and the gang, and finds out that her real father has always known where she was and has now contacted her. She also discovers she has three sisters.

There are a lot of storylines in this one book, but that by the end of the book, they are all solved and tied up into one great book.

The only thing I didn't like was the use of nicknames.
Other that, this was a good book.

A Place Called Home

When I started this book, I wasn't sure whether I!liked it and set it aside for a while. When I picked it back up, I found I couldn't put it down. All other books were ignored and not much housework got done. This is a wonderful uplifting story. I came from a large family and wasn't as close to them after we were grown. And never having a group of friends to share both the good and bad times with has kept me in both a solitary and lonely existence. So I can't help but be a little envious of Carin. It hit home oh so many levels. This is a wonderful series and I look forward to reading the rest. But note that each book is easily read as a stand alone.

More small town fun! When Carin Jardine returns to her grandmas old cottage in Chapel Springs, she’s down and out, and lonely. But the folks of Chapel Springs take her in and show her small town love. Good story, showing typical small town dealings, family relationships, and even a little mystery. I had a hard time keeping track of some of the side characters, but that might be because it had been several years since I read book 1, I didn’t read book 2 in the series. If you like Jan Karon’s Mitford series, you’ll like Chapel Springs!

I liked this story!

The characters were realistic and well thought out. There were sometimes that the transition between characters did not go smoothly and it took me a minute or two to "catch up" - mainly at chapter breaks. I would read this author again as I do think the story was good.

Chapel Springs Series 1

New author to me but I enjoyed the faith based story Carin finds out her husband cleaned their bank accounts and hadn’t paid the condo rent for 3 months or her sons tuition. She is left destitute with a 6 yr old son. Her grandma had left her a house in Chapel Springs and supposedly her husband had paid a contractor to fix it up. But did he?

The book started out well but then became a jumble of characters. I think I may have needed to have read the previous books first.
It is a sweet story with Christian themes throughout, a nice read but I just wish I could have sorted out all the characters.

Sweet story

This is a sweet and heartwarming story. It is the first book in this series I have read, but it is the third in the series. I would recommend reading them in chronological order as I had a difficult time keeping up with the large number of characters.

Nice story

There was quite a lot going on in this book. Weddings, funeral, ghosts, love, ruin, prison, politics. Ust it was easy to follow. A good Sunday afternoon read.
