Carl
My family believe they’re gifted by gypsies to find their soulmate, but I always thought it was bullshit. I don’t think we were gifted, I believe we’re cursed. I’m forty five and still hadn’t found my mate, and my nephews use me as an example to prove my theory that we’re curse. After watching my brothers and two of my nephew’s find their soulmate, I’d given up hope and have become known as the cranky reclusive uncle. I don’t care what my family thinks as long as they leave me in peace.
Not only am I from one of the most powerful family’s the Silverman's, I’m one of the best doctors in Australia. I devote my days to bettering my skills and don’t care how others see me. Everything changes though when I find out the curse is in fact real, and meet my soulmate Annabelle. There’s a problem though, Annabelle doesn’t seem very impressed by me.

This book was SO OTT. It cracked me up a lot. I loved Carl and Belle, both were likable. It's BIG TIME insta-love, and the sex was hot. Alas, it fizzled out for me about halfway through. Nothing really happened, and every other word was "honey this or honey that"...

The third book in the Caveman series by Hazel Gower. This time the curse/gift is presented to Carl when he spies his mate across the hospital employee parking lot where Annabelle is talking to her best friend on the phone after her mother gets out of surgery. Carl, of course, kidnaps Annabelle and takes her to his cabin. Annabelle is a quiet, shy librarian for a high school and is usually a pushover except when she meets Carl then she turns into a sassy heroine who also feels the pull of attraction to Carl but is trying to fight it.

There is mention of the first two couple in the previous books along with some other family members. It's been a while since I've read those books and now I think I wanna re-read them to remember these crazy Silverman relatives.

There are some short stories in the end that tells the how the characters in the previous books are doing now along with the hint of the next Silverman that will be hit with the curse...umm, I mean 'gift'.

I love the premise of this series. Who doesn't love a hot cave man alpha, right? It was over the top and I liked it. I consider it in the paranormal family since it has to do with an ancient curse so I give it some leway with how far fetched it is. The story basically revolved around them getting to know each other. I liked that Richard/Bailey and Stephen /Jade were mentioned. I would love more story on these couples since there wasn't epilogues in their stories either. I look forward to the next story (Ryder) in this series.

no cheating
no ow/om whatsoever
ott alpha
no epilogue

Love this series!

I really liked Annabelle, she was a pretty quirky and fun character. It was nice to read about a more mature couple. Carl was swoon worthy hero. He was caveman to the max. Super possessive and persistent.

"Mine. My soulmate. Only me. No one touches you. You're mine."

This gif pretty much depicts Carl this whole book...

I really enjoyed the epilogue and bonus short stories. Can't wait for the next book <3

Carl thought he would never find his mate, his family has been cursed by gypsies and it leaves the men waiting to find their mates or never finding love. When Carl sees Annabelle he knows, he kidnaps her, and quickly goes about trying to show her she is his mate.

Annabelle thinks Carl is a nut job. He is a perfect specimen of male man though and the more Annabelle gets to know Carl, the more she wants his crazy idea of a relationship to work.

Very fun, Carl is pure caveman. I liked that to everyone else he is a a rich jerk but with Annabelle he is sweet and slightly crazy. Had some really funny moments. Can't wait for more in this series.

I love this series and I love OTT men so this one was a hit for me. It did get slow midway but I still enjoyed it :)

This was so crazily insane- I LOVED IT!
Waited a long time for the next book in my fav caveman series and this did live up to the expectations
I loved how amazingly obsessed Carl was- maybe because he waited 45 years for his soulmate- but his OTT gestures were just adorable.
Anabelle reacted exactly how any 31 year old sane lady would when kidnapped- but soon love took its claim and all became sexy and wonderful!

“Mrs. Clarkson, your daughter isn’t telling tales. These are the guards I assigned to her. My name is Dr. Carl Silverman, and your daughter is mine."

Also loved the surprises in the end :)

Loads of MEOW moments! Safe read!

I love this series but this one lacked serious chemistry. The h went from being annoyed and giving the H attitude to falling in love. I also did not like the h's mother, she seemed like a ridiculous character. In addition, I was disappointed that the h was given a cliche gay BF who was of course telling the h how he was attracted to the H. The glimpse into Ryder's story was good and hopefully it will come out soon.

New guilty pleasure series with alpha males!
Highly recommend if you like these kind of books. Now that I am in my exam period I find myself reading fluffier and lighter books to change my mind a bit. Highly enjoyed!

It feels like I have waited forever for this book to be released! And when it finally was released (yesterday - May 2016) I wasn't disappointed! I dove in and didn't stop reading till I had finished! I love this series and I can't wait for more! I loved how alpha caveman Carl was when he seen annabelle for the first time, I was in stitches at Annabelle's attempt escape, only to be caught by the bodyguards. Annabelle's mother is hilarious and I wish we had a few more scenes from her. And holy hotness! The steamy sex scenes between Carl and Annabelle were hot hot hot! I really enjoyed the small portions at the end that tell us how Stephen,Jade, Bailey & Richard are getting on in their relationships. And the teaser of Ryder's book had me on the edge of my seat, needing the next book now!

After reading Richard (book 2 in the series) I wasn't sure I'd like Carl any better.
I actually enjoyed reading Carl and Annabelle's crazy whirlwind courtship.

Carl is completely OTT alpha when it comes to his soulmate. He won't be put off because of a little thing like kidnapping. When it comes to making Annabelle fall in love with him, he'll do whatever necessary to keep her.

Annabelle can't seem to figure out why she's so attracted to her crazy kidnapper. But she really can't deny the pull she feels to him, especially when he says sweet things to her.

By far my favorite! I loved the older love , the bad mood , arsehole being turned into a lovable bear. By far my fave out of Stephen, Richard. OH I can't wait to read more from this series! I am hooked.

BTW : this one has a few extra epilogues with not just Carl/Annabelle. You see into the future and get caught up with Stephen/Jade and Richard/Bailey.

Shopping with Annabelle was an experience. I now understood those poor bastards that you saw standing out the front of stores looking like they wanted to be shot, or who would rather shovel shit instead of spending another hour walking around shops. I was now that idiot. Even our bodyguards looked miserable. I had no idea fucking cushions were so Goddamn important to décor.

After reading the first two in the series (Stephan and Richard), I kinda knew what to expect - some amusing OTT alpha antics (the titular Caveman Instinct), some resistance from the object of his affections, rather inconsistent leads, and more typos and editing errors than you can shake a stick at. It lived up to expectations - just OK - but of the three in the series I've read, this has been my favorite. Solid 2+ stars instead of barely rounded up.

Annabelle (h) is a school librarian visiting her mom in the hospital. Carl (H) is a doctor there. He's also the oldest Silverman who hasn't found his One. Until he overhears Annabelle in the hospital garden at least. A brief kidnapping later, and he's explaining the whole Silverman family curse to her and beginning the process of convincing her that he's not crazy but meant for her.

I liked that the characters were older. Annabelle had buckets more sense than Jade or (especially) Bailey, simply from being a good decade and a half older (give or take). She and Carl bantered a bit more and despite a large age gap still, it didn't feel creepy like Richard's story. I guess since they were both professionals and actually literally more mature than a recent HS grad? And 10 years is less of an issue age-gap-wise at mid 30s than recently 18.

On to the downsides...

Again, the pacing was weird. Apparently, that's how this author structures her stories? Almost an episodic feel, like no real big climax. Lots of little events, then things would settle, then another pick-up... more like waves that a typical story structure. Where the ebb and flow happened was weird too. For example, she's meeting the family, standard anxiety and nerves, and then nope, we break away for several pages of wild sex. Because that's how meeting the family goes and isn't weird at all.

Biggest complaint on pacing was that honestly, the story felt like it stalled at about 60%. They finally accept each other about then, and everything that follows feels like an extended epilogue. The fantasy tropical island getaway, pregnancy, proposal... the actual story feels pretty stagnant. Maybe that was just me?

The funniest part of the epilogue was in the actual "bonus" epilogue (the three stories at the end, one for each couple so far). "Put it back"! The other two stories in that could be skipped. Stephan and Jade's story was really just sex, and Bailey and Richard I just don't like so frankly didn't care.

And yes, still an editing nightmare. Different in some ways from the other two (more tense errors, less 1st person/3rd person issues, for example), but still can't find correct comma use to save her soul. And this is really why the whole series can't get more than two stars from me, even when accepting the silly, rather mindless premise for what it is. These frankly read a rough draft. Still lots of homophone errors and one-letter typos (where/were, etc). A few sentences that were so disorganized and out of order, I honestly had no idea what they were saying. Punctuation was a mess. Commas and periods and apostrophes missing, and words missing too at times. And no sense of how to make a word plural vs possessive. "Silverman's" is not plural. I was highlighting, and not even highlighting everything (I gave up on some of the oft-repeated comma errors), and I had over 100 notes, in a novella. This was not ready for final publication.

Alternating 1st person POV. No OM drama, no OW drama. No love triangle and no cheating. OTT alpha antics - just what you expect from the description. Simple mindless storyline, should be easy relaxing escapism, but honestly, straight-out difficult to read with all the incredibly poor editing and proofreading. HEA but minor epilogue.

Would I read more in the series? Maybe. The characters and story set-ups look interesting, and it's kinda funny watching the alphas fall for their one (though I'd still prefer if the hs from here out had more spine than Bailey). It still doesn't look like the editing gets any better as the series goes on, so, maybe if it was free or super-sale, I might give it a chance, but there are other books I'd rather read first.

Boring, dense. Nothing special. The heroine is stupid, and is the classic heroine “the hero kidnapped me, but damn those abs!” And “the hero keeps me against my will in his house locked, but damn his smirk is so sexy!” and the classic... “I know what he said or did was disturbing but Curse my body for betraying me!” Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah!!

Honestly, please, stop already writing this bullshit, it’s like so many other crap that I’ve read and it’s exactly the same stuff. It’s not horribly written but I forced myself to finish it, I barely made it.

Write something for intelligent audience because that’s what we are. We understand what the difference is between good and very mediocre writing.

All in all, not for me.

So bad. And I’d read reviews before reading it and one person said all they did was say ‘honey’ and I couldn’t stop laughing every time they did.
