Riley Erickson, her pregnant sister, Jo, and their friend Noel are all wishing for the same thing: the perfect man. Or at least men who are perfect for them. Riley's hasn't turned out to be too impressive, dumping her for her bridesmaid three weeks before the wedding. Jo's husband is being perfectly stubborn. And Noel has given up completely.
When the three women visit a shopping-mall Santa on a lark, the guy is full of predictions. Riley's going to meet her perfect man in a memorable way. Noel is going to get a good man to go with that house she's trying desperately to buy. And Jo, well, a new man is about to come into her life. What on earth does that mean? She already has her hands full with the one she's got. As for Riley and Noel, they have some holiday challenges to meet…
But Christmas wishes can come true, as these three women are about to discover. Because in spite of romantic setbacks and derailed dreams, this truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
With fifty books to her credit, both fiction and non-fiction, Sheila Roberts is a frequent USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller - and a fan favorite. Her books have sold over three million copies and have been turned into movies for the Hallmark, Lifetime and Great American Family channels. Before settling into her writing career, Sheila owned a singing telegram company and played in band. When she's not traveling, Sheila can be found hanging out with friends, playing tennis, and, of course, writing and reading. Sometimes she even remembers to post books she's read!
Oh, how I love this author! Sheila Roberts always tells the kind of tale my heart is always needing and THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES is exactly what I needed today. I devoured this HEA story in one sitting. Once I started reading I knew I was in for the long haul and quickly became involved in Jo, Noel and Riley's lives. I feel these three women and I became friends today only now I'm sad because my interaction with them is over.
Sheila Roberts always fills me with so much emotion and THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES had me all over the place. Riley is getting married. That is until three weeks before her big day when her fiancé breaks her heart and says he wants to break up. WHAT?? Three weeks before the wedding? Holy cow, of course she is stunned and when she finds out why she is even more crushed and heart broken.
She finds comfort in her family and friends including her sister Jo. Jo is pregnant, due any day and married to a Mike who is away with the US NAVY. Mike tells her he wants to re enlist for four more years and Jo is very unhappy. She doesn't want to raise their baby by herself. She tries to guilt Mike into not signing up again, reminding him of all the things he will miss. THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES is the story of these two sisters leaning on each other and trying to deal with their man problems.
THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES is also about Noel. Noel is their best friend and also with man troubles of her own. She has been renting a house for two years with the hope of being able to buy it one day. She loves her home and when she finds out her landlady has sold it she is devastated. The man who bought it just wants to flip it and sell it again and she knows he is going to ruin all of the charm the house has that she loves so much. I can totally see THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES being a favorite Christmas movie to watch year after year.
It doesn't have to be the holiday season to read this perfect and heart warming story. I live in Arizona where it is 97 degrees today and I actually got a chill reading about all the snow on the ground and how cold it was in Whispering Pines! Sheila always puts me on an emotional roller coaster and THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES is exactly why! Now the only thing I'm sad about is, I just finished her latest book and now I have to wait for the next one! Sheila Roberts has been one of my top authors from the very first book of hers that I had the pleasure of reading and when you read THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES you will know exactly why.
By the time I was about a third of the way into this novel, I already knew I needed to hunt down the author’s back list. This is my first time reading this author, and I truly enjoyed every minute. It’s three romances rolled into one book, but more than that it’s a wonderful story of friendship and family.
Each of the three protagonists are facing a crisis. Riley’s fiance breaks up with her, three weeks before their wedding, to be with her friend and coworker Emily, with whom he’s been having an affair. Noel’s landlady announces that she’s selling the house Noel lives in, and which Noel desperately wants to buy but cannot quite afford. Riley’s sister, Jo, is about to give birth to her first child, and is bitter and resentful that her husband is deployed with the Navy and already planning to re-up, which will leave her raising their child alone.
The women are all believable, likable and distinctive characters, and all of the supporting characters are richly drawn, even the ones who only make two or three appearances. The POV narrative shifts seamlessly between the three women, and the only thing that could’ve made the book better would be getting the POV of Jo’s husband and the men who come into Riley and Noel’s lives.
THREE CHRISTMAS WISHES is an emotional and engaging story, and as satisfying as the ending was, I was still left wanting more.
Three Christmas Wishes By: Shelia Roberts Publisher/Year: Fiction, Novel, Romance, Holidays, Christmas Some Adult Language
Plus(es): Relatable characters, Humor sprinkled throughout the story, Feel good read
This has become one of my new holiday favorites. It follows three main protagonists. Riley who is an elementary school teacher wrapped up in the flurry of activity surrounding her impending Christmas nuptials. Jo, Riley’s sister, is expecting a baby. The nursery is prepared for a little girl, and Jo and her husband are tickled pink. Riley and Jo’s dear friend Noel is a children’s author who dreams of owning the house that she is currently renting.
One day, the three ladies visit the mall to see Santa and share their Christmas wishes. Santa gives the friends three unexpected messages which will shake up their well-laid plans. This leads to entertaining shenanigans.
This book will make you want to curl up and drink a warm cup of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. Light-hearted and a fun read!
Sheila Roberts writes with so much feeling and emotion. She writes about real life problems. The book will make you laugh and cry. A heartwarming Christmas romance story about two sisters and their BFF who are having man trouble. They decide to visit Santa in the mall and ask for the perfect man. Will Santa grant their wishes? Read the book to find out. I loved every minute of the story and hated to see it end. I am thinking this would make for a great Christmas movie. I also loved the cover of the book.
Nasib mereka berubah setelah bertemu Sinterklas yg meramalkan nasib mereka. Benarkah Riley akan menemukan pasangan baru? Benarkah Jo akan memiliki anak laki-laki alih-alih anak perempuan? Benarkah Noel akan mendapatkan impiannya, rumah beserta pria idamannya?
Diantara mereka bertiga, saya cuma ngakak dgn nasib Jo yg mirip-mirip Laura Cleary, komedian AS. Belum lagi pengalaman pertama menyusui anaknya yg membuat payudaranya serasa rontok. Jo merasa tidak adil kalau Mike hanya 3 bulan sekali berkumpul bersamanya dan minta Mike ganti haluan pekerjaan.
Sedangkan Noel mengalami musibah sekaligus berkah krn bertemu Ben Fordham yg akan membeli rumah kontrakannya. Sayangnya ibu Ben adalah wanita naga yg sangat protektif dgn anaknya dan selalu menganggap semua wanita yg mendekati anaknya adalah penipu. Hanya Noel yg agak "usaha" utk menaklukkan pria ini sekaligus ibunya, dan tentu saja rumahnya. Walau usaha Noel seringnya kacau dan kandas sebelum akhirnya sukses.
Riley juga membuktikan bhw sbg wanita yg dikhianati, dia hrs move on dan berhak penuh atas kebahagiaannya. Bagaimana cara Riley mendapatkan prince charming baru-nya? Silakan dibaca saja.
Three friends and three Christmas wishes! When the three friends impulsively visit Santa while at the mall, he has some surprising predictions for them; he predicts that all three will find the perfect man, or at least, the perfect man for each of them. Riley’s fiancé leaves her for one of her bridesmaids only three weeks before their wedding. But, Santa promises that she’ll meet her perfect man in a memorable way. He also predicts that a new man will come into Jo’s life, very soon. But, she’s already married and expecting her first child any day now. Noel has given up on ever finding her Mr. Right but Santa predicts that she meets the perfect man for her to go along with the house that she’s been trying desperately to find a way to buy.
Honestly, this isn’t really my kind of book. I’m not that into romance novels, for the most part. Really, I only read it for a challenge. That said, it was well written for its genre. It was a sweet story and an easy read. The author managed to switch between the perspectives of all three friends seamlessly. There was a little conflict, in my opinion, because although there was no actual sex among the characters, it was referenced as an option a few times, but there were also Christian references as well. It’s almost like the author wasn’t sure what direction she wanted to go in. I definitely appear to be in the minority as far as my opinion, though.
This one was fun for me since there were so many locations that are close to home for me: Bremerton, Silverdale, Bainbridge Island, Bangor naval base, even Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo. I don't know where the town of Whispering Pines would be located, but it was fun to feel like I was a bit in the middle of the story because of all the familiar places.
And with that, my cheesy Christmas romance reading for 2016 is complete. I absolutely love reading these books, and finishing this one by the light of my Christmas tree (which will be up for another month, don't judge) on the final morning of the holiday break was perfect. But it is time to move on to a different genre now...
Riley, Noel, and Jo head to the mall to visit Santa on December 1st and he predicts they will each get their holiday wish: the jilted-at-the-alter-three-weeks-before-her-Christmas-wedding Riley will have a new man stumble into her life; Noel will get her dream home and perhaps even a dream man and family to go with it; and the pregnant Jo who is struggling with her husband being in the Navy will have a new man enter her life.
This story was cute. It was a quick read, I loved the friendship among the three women, and there was a positive message about being happy with yourself. What ultimately held back the last couple of stars was that there was a bit too much focus on needing a man for your life to be complete. The author gave lip service to being happy with what you have, and it was more clear at the end of the book, but the first bit was a little too man-dependent for my independent self. Also, Jo's husband was in the Navy and the author never capitalized "navy." It was annoying and I am surprised an editor did not pick up on it.
Overall, I will definitely have my eye on the next Sheila Roberts holiday novel, and I recommend this book to those who love Hallmark holiday movies and like a little light holiday romance.
This is the story of three women getting their Christmas wishes. Riley Erickson gets dumped by her fiance on Thanksgiving, her sister,Jo,nine months pregnant wants her husband home and friend,Noel, just wants the perfect man. The book was a nice quick easy read.
I don't know how Sheila Roberts can always write book that touch my heart, and force me to not do any housework until after the last page.
This was the story of 3 women and the events that happen in their lives right before Christmas. I just wanted to read more, is this going to be a new Icicle Falls? I hope so, I would love to go back and see them again.
I really enjoyed this book which is about 3 friends who go to see Santa together each year to make their Christmas wish. They believe in Santa and believe that their Christmas wishes will come true.
Three women have relationship issues. Jo, who is 9 months pregnant, is a Navy wife whose husband is at sea when the story opens. She wants him to leave the Navy and stay home with her and the coming baby permanently instead of reenlisting as he wants to do. Her sister Riley, an elementary school teacher, is engaged to Sean. Her wedding is only 3 weeks and 2 days away when he suddenly dumps her for someone else -- Emily, another teacher at her school, good friend, and bridesmaid in her wedding. Their friend Noel is an author of children's books. Her books are modestly popular and thus far have only brought her modest financial success. She is renting a house she loves and wants to buy. She's tried to work out an arrangement with her landlady, but since the woman wants to sell the house quickly and for more money than Noel can afford, she sells it to a (handsome) house flipper instead. Noel embarks on a campaign to convince the man to sell the house to her. Everything eventually ends happily for all 3 women. I was most interest in Riley's story. An excerpt from the book pre-release that told the dramatic beginning to her story prompted me to read the book. I must say that I was pleased that the author did not go in the direction that Riley and Emily later made up and became friends again. I've seen that scenario in other books and think that is totally unrealistic. In real life, who would EVER be friends again with the woman who stole your man, especially if the friend had been as close as Riley and Emily were supposed to have been? Overall, this was a light, feel-good holiday offering. For those who like steamy sex in their books, be advised there are no sex scenes at all in this one.
Sheila Roberts poured on the holiday charm with her newest standalone romance, Three Christmas Wishes. Friends, family and all kinds of magical and amusing mayhem made this a fun story to read as we head into the holiday season.
If you’ve ever read Roberts’ Life in Icicle Falls series then you know that she can perfectly capture how intricate and complicated relationships are. Especially in small towns where everyone is aware of everyone else’s business. That was the vibe in Three Christmas Wishes. We had three lovely women who were at different places in life but who were all facing some type of big decision or change. And while this didn’t get down to the really tough, involved emotions they went through (it stayed on the lighter side) I could still easily sympathize along with each character and the struggle she faced.
Three Christmas Wishes was a rather lighthearted, cute & cuddly holiday romance that was highly entertaining. We followed three women as their seemingly on-point lives unraveled a bit (or a lot) and watched them find their way again. Filled with laughter and love as you would expect from Sheila Roberts, I think fans will find this to be a lively and amusing addition to their seasonal reading list. Full review to come.
Sheila has gone out and outdone herself again. Every book seems better then the last. I honestly don't know how she does it, but the girl is good. No, wait, Amazing! This girl is Amazing. I never tire reading a "Sheila" book. And every Christmas I can't wait for the next Christmas book to come out. And Sheila did not disappoint. Three best friends, Jo, her sister Riley, and her best friend Noel are off to a shaky holiday after Riley gets dumped by her fiancé for her bridesmaid just three weeks before the wedding. Jo is pregnant and not happy that her Navy husband is deployed out to Sea and will miss the birth, and poor Noel is looking to be homeless right after Christmas, since her landlady just sold her house right out from under her. They were feeling pretty sorry for themselves until they decide to visit Santa at the mall. And Santa gives them a surprise of their own. Who was that Santa? And how did he know so much about them? Well, the girls are in for a ride of a lifetime when they learn to love, trust and believe in themselves and their families. How these girls go from BlahBlahBlah, to HoHoHo in just three short weeks is pure genius. Kudos to Sheila for showing us how a little bit of love and trust can go a long way.. read the book, you won't be let down!
Three women, one Santa at the local shopping mall ...
Riley's fiancé dumped her three weeks before their wedding for one of her bridesmaids!
Jo is eight plus months pregnant and has a husband that is in the military and on a submarine. The baby is due before her husband is due to return!
Noel has given up on finding the man of her dreams, she doesn't get out much. She writes children's books and works from home in her plaid pajama pants most days.
These three decide to visit the local mall for a little retail therapy. When they stop to visit with Santa, he has surprising predictions for each of them about new men in their lives.
This was a cute book with some funny moments, some crazy moments and some did that really-just-happen moments.
Fun story, happy ending, great characters and humor. What more can a girl ask for in a Christmas book!?!
Anyone else want to hang out with Riley's family? Besides connecting with the female leads of this story, Riley's family makes you feel like inviting them all over for tea and snacks. Great family feelings and touching romances all over the place in this lively Christmas read. ~ Kim
"Riley and Noel and Jo are likable and engaging, ... simply delightful. Their conversations are light and well-written, with an almost Gilmore Girls feel to the pacing and banter" (RT Book Reviews)
Sheila Roberts has given us another great Christmas read. If you love strong woman who can make you laugh, cry and pray that they will get their own miracle this is the book for you. You just have to believe in a Mall Santa and the men that he says will be coming into your life.
You will hate when this book comes to end. Thank you Sheila Roberts for another great read. you never disappoint.
Sayangnya banyak typo. Dan bagian Noel yang bercakap-cakap dengan Marvella, karakter ciptaanya itu too much.
As always I am in awe of Shelia and her ability to tell a story. Shelia made each of the characters so real. I believe Riley could have been a good friend. It's a must read, I can guarantee you won't want to put it down....
Sheila Roberts' Three Christmas Wishes is another great read. She knows how to eloquently intertwine a little bit of drama with a little bit of love to make her book come alive. I always enjoy reading her books❤️
Another wonderful book by Sheila Roberts! I always look forward to her stories, and this one didn't disappoint. If you're looking for a feel good book to get you in the Christmas spirit, you definitely should read Three Christmas Wishes!
This book was pure fluff. It was great and a good Christmas read. I loved the writing, characters and plot. It was a bit cheesy but that is what I love around the holidays.
