Laboratorium: Russian Review of Social Research, 3/2015: Postindustrial Urban Landscapes

Rate this book
Special issues on "Postindustrial Urban Landscapes" guest-edited by Agnieszka Pasieka. This special issue highlights the importance of an anthropological perspective in the study of postindustrialism, which, through a sharp focus on what is specific and particular, opens the field for broader reflections. It is an example of such a reflexivity and an invitation to its anthropological exercise. Such an exercise must be based on solid ethnographic research, on rich data collected out there, "in the field." Each of postindustrial fields spotlighted in the articles of this issue is an example of postindustrialism's long-lasting social consequences, on the one hand, and attempts at symbolic confrontation of its legacy, on the other. ** * "Notes on the 'Worthless Dowry' of Soviet Industrial Making Working-Class Russia Habitable," Jeremy Morris (English). * "A Tale of Two Ahmadiyya Religion, Ethnic Politics, and Urban Planning in London," Marzia Balzani (English). ** "Manufacturing A Case Study of an Industrial Museum in New England," Agnieszka Pasieka (English). ** Field * "Community as a Given Versus Community as a Strategies for Studying Small Towns," Greg Yudin, Ivan Pavlyutkin (Russian). * "Mental The Method's Limitations and a 'Strange' Image in a Small Town," Konstantin Glazkov (Russian). * "Unity Performances during Town's Day Holiday," Ekaterina Pavlenko (Russian). * "Studying a Parish Community in a Small The Role of the Priest and Other Aspects of Orthodox Communality," Polina Vrublevskaya (Russian). * "'This Is Utopia; This Is a Swamp': Genres of Narrative about a City," Varvara Kobyshcha (Russian)
