A new threat is rising...

The campground was supposed to be safe. Now, Will, Holly, and Charlie are left scrambling to save Dylan after he is bit by an Empty. After performing a field amputation, they’re forced to leave the campground and seek out medical attention for the boy, before it’s too late.

Home seems closer than ever for Gabriel Alexander, and the path before him is clear. At least until a routine stop at a gas station brings forth a new threat far worse than the undead creatures roaming the highways.

This was probably the longest and least pleasant book in the series, given the amount of violence in it and its completely unsubtle flirtations with rape. This book, this series, has demonstrated something very real to me. All Zombie horror is essentially about the fundamentality of suffering to existence and the monstrous nature of humans. After this series, I doubt I will ever feel the need to read zombie horror again, which is such a strange thing for the former author of a webcomic about the zombie apocalypse to write. Nevertheless, there you have it. Really, really fucked up stuff.

I have the box set of this series and book five continues following the group of survivors and their battles with the demons and evil humans (any difference, I wonder).

Shades of gladiators are part of this installment, alongside other gruesome scenes. Well portrayed. Fast-paced, as usual, and a great writing style, though a few grammatical errors, which are irritating to me.

Yes, worth reading.

Pain and joy but evil does worse

I loved this book! So much happens that it's almost overwhelming. But so commanding the next page to read. It's impossible to put down. Good people keep dropping, some coming back as Empties. Sad when that happens. So far the main ones struggle on, hope that doesn't change. Zach Bohannon rocks!

Good book

It was like the ones before a great read, but if you put them all together as one book would be better. Charging me for all only adds up to one good book anyways, but would make it better for the reader. This way I feel like I have been scammed.

Too much god-crap to keep me interested. Moving on to another series with literally one book left in this one. That has never happened with any other series I've read.

Parts of this book I didn't like so I skimmed over them. Now on to the last book in the series.

I read thru this in just over 4 hours!

Since discovering and beginning this series, I have been waiting for this book to come. Now that it has, I could not savor it, I gobbled it up without swallowing! Although I did taste every delectable, meaty bite, I could not bring myself to put the fork down until every single morsel was consumed. Zach has shown from the very start that he can write, but as each character and path progresses, so does his level of writing.
The way he can convey a conversation between two people on paper ( or rather on tablet ), makes you feel like it is truly a human interaction and not emotionless text, like so many I've read have failed to do. His story telling grabbed me from the beginning and did not let go. Can't wait to read his next book, but fear for my pseudo sanity trying to be patient!!! Do yourself a favor and start this series! You will be pleasantly surprised.

This has got to be the best.....

This has got to be the best book of the series. Lots of action, zombies galore and our friends in some big trouble!
I love these characters. The author seems to bring them alive. They are all unique but different.
I don't know how Mr. Rhiannon can top this book but I will await the next...

Excellent series

I enjoyed this story for several reasons. It wasn't the run of the mill Zombie story. It was more about the characters in the series with "empty" beings. The author had no problem killing off what I considered main people, which kept me on my toes. I will recommend this series to several friends and am looking forward to the next ebook, number 6.

As a continuation of the Empty Bodies series, this installment amps up the tension and brings the horrors to a new level, forcing the characters to confront humans are just so much monsters as the Empties have become. Readers who've already come to fall in love with the series won't be able to put this fifth book down, as it takes the series to a new level.
