This book is fabulous for beginners. I have no hand lettering experience at all. After reading this book and practicing for the last month, I feel a lot more confident. There are 5 different letting styles to learn with both upper and lower case letters. Putting words together and extras are included as well. Megan even gives tips on how to complete projects. There are several projects she walks you through and a lot of practice pages. I now have some tools in my back pocket to make things in my life look prettier. I have found relaxation through this book as well. I love the simple approach and appropriate exercises. A beautiful book.

Disappointing. Very little how to.

Disappointed as there is very little instruction here for the beginner in learning how to do lettering. More of a lot of photos of the finished product and very little instruction. Disappointing. Wish I could get my money back.

I can’t picture anyone that is looking for a calligraphy book. Not giving this one. A five star review. It’s so beautiful. Megan Wells packs over 150 pages with techniques, examples, ideas, and free space to practice. What else could one want in a hand lettering book? it’s so pretty and colorful that I couldn’t resist the temptation to cut up and collage with a couple pages، despite my inner battle to leave it as is, like an unpicked 🌺 ;)

Instead of writing, the author suggests readers to hand draw the letters out. It’s a new idea to me as I am a brush-pen user. I tried with a couple letters to see how I liked this new idea. It took longer time but I realized I learnt more such as shadowing.

What a friendly, unintimidating book! It's just gorgeous to sit down and look through. I'm happy that the author explains that lettering is drawing, not writing. And she encourages tracing as practice. I'm so glad I bought this book and am already practicing.
