The next Short Story of The Geneva Project: Prequels is here!
Sparrow and Journey are best friends, but they couldn’t be less alike. Journey is the quiet brooding type, while Sparrow has always been the bubbly, hopeful one. But when Sparrow’s floating stone seems to bestow its magic upon Journey, it’s Sparrow who starts having doubts. Is the floating stone really magic? Will it bring Sparrow and Journey what they’ve always wanted? Or will they find they had everything they need all along?
Dive into a maritime legend that predates The Geneva Project. Magic, Mermaids, Soul mates and the dilemma of how long to hold onto hope highlight the beginning of Sparrow and Journey’s friendship and how they forged an unbreakable bond stronger than magic.
This short story gives us a glimpse into Sparrow and Journey’s relationship. Fall in love with them all over again when you find out how they first met and why they fiercely protect each other. It will give their epic roles in the 4th and final book of The Geneva Project series even more significance.

4.5 stars Another fantastic prequel in The Geneva Project from Christina Benjamin!! If I had to sum up this book using just one word it would have to be HOPE. What hope means to different people, the many forms it may take, the incredible things that can happen when it's all you have, and the devastation wrought from losing all of it.Sparrow and Journey were quite the pair. I loved how different they were, yet how perfect they were together. They just worked. Sparrow's nearly endless amounts of optimism and chatter was heartwarming, especially so considering their stark circumstances. Journey was the more pragmatic, strong and silent type. He may not have expressed himself verbally very often, but he showed Sparrow and all who could see just how much she meant to him in every action that he took. I honestly really liked both of them and their story was quite charming. If you haven't read any of the other books in The Geneva Chronicles yet, no worries! This book can be read as a standalone, and I am sure that once you read this one you will want to get your hands on the rest of them! I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Christina Benjamin’s latest Geneva Project Prequel, “The Floating Stone” is my favorite short story so far. It’s the story of Sparrow and Journey.
Benjamin delivered a tale full of hope and the promise of friendship. I admired Sparrow’s never wavering belief in a fairy tale about magic. She needed to believe in something amidst the grim reality she faced daily. It took Journey pointing out the truth to her—they were family and had each other. She didn’t need to keep pinning her hope on a myth. A big statement in a small package.
I highly recommend reading the Geneva Project Prequels. They provide a nice history to the series.
Once again I'm impressed with Benjamin's ability to draw me in emotionally in such a short story. From reading The Geneva Project Books, I already feel connected to the characters, and I love the "behind the scenes" look into their histories! This is the second Geneva Project prequel I read, and my favorite concept behind these is how Benjamin relates the stories to her personally-created fairytales! It's like two stories in one - in a handful of pages!
This is a really great prequel. It came out at the perfect time because I was in need of some more Geneva Project. It is a cute story that has a theme of hope. It made my heart swell and gives a great read while we wait for the conclusion of the series. I would recommend this book to any of my friends that are in love with this series.
