After college graduation, Jennifer Weston takes a summer internship with a newspaper in a seaside village in Oregon. She hopes sea breezes and solitude will heal her heart after a bad breakup with Vince, and the pain of her father remarrying only four months after the death of Jennifer's mother. Jennifer resolves to have a no-romance summer and to give complete dedication to her newspaper column. But life has other plans for her. On her first morning in Windridge, she literally runs into Larsen Morgan, a handsome EMT. Then there's the newspaper's publicist, Aaron Johnston, who considers himself God's gift to women, and who only notices Jennifer after he discovers she is LDS. Her troubles continue with Vince, who won't give up their relationship as easily as she had hoped. Adding to her adventures, Jennifer soon gets mixed up in the crazy lives of some new friends. Through it all, she finds her heart changing and learns that some resolves were meant to be broken. Especially when it comes to true love.

This was a fun quick read. It was pretty predictable and the storyline ended a bit too tidy for me. That won't stop me from trying another of Joan Soward's books in the future.

The book i choose was Clairvoyance by Joan Sowards. This book is about a girl named Jennifer who struggles with romance. The book starts when Jennifer and her huge brake up. This brake up affects her through out the whole book. One day she decides to get a job for the summer,as a newspaper writer. When getting the job a week later she meets this man named Larsen. Larsen is Jennifer work partner and through out the book all Larsen does is flirt with Jennifer. Another important person Jennifer meets is Mr. Dayton. In the book Mr.Dayton tells his life story to Jennifer so she can learn from his mistakes. After meeting Mr.Dayton, Jennifer gets to meet Aron which he has a huge crush on Jennifer. The main problem through out the book is that so many boys like her yet she can only pick one.

The character i would say changed the most is Jennifer. At the beginning of the book Jennifer is confused, angry and sad because of the huge brake up she went through before graduation. Then when she meets Aaron her attitude changes towards love. Not only because she falls in love with him but because she finds a new meaning of love. Also when she meets the boy Larsen a paramedic and Aaron friend she falls in love with him to. At the end Jennifer has a big problem between picking the two boys and is confused again, but she ends up choosing Aaron which makes her happy. Jennifer moods are like a roller costar, happy, sad, confused. Like the roller costar she never knew what to expect.

Overall i enjoyed this book a lot. One of my favorite things about it is how the author writes and makes you want to keep reading. Also i like how he used so much plot twist. I think one of the only thing i would change is want to know more about the characters. I want the author to give us a better understanding. Yes he did talk about them but at times so characters came out of no were and who they were. In conclusion the book was grate and i liked it even though it has some flaw

I enjoyed the characters and the storyline was fun. It made me want to read more from this author. I liked that she was able to befriend a lot of people and realize she needed to give her stepmother a chance.

If you want to read an inspiring and elevating novel, and then hand it to your daughter for her to enjoy the same experience, Clairvoyance by Joan Sowards is the book for you. Joan has given us another beautiful story that will both entertain and inspire all who read it.
Jennifer Weston has left her home in Phoenix, Arizona for the cool green of Windridge, Oregon and the dream-like summer job as an intern for the town newspaper. With a degree accomplished and a bright summer of opportunities ahead, it would appear that Jennifer’s life is perfect—but what appears as a charmed life is often times anything but. Jennifer carries the heartbreak of the recent death of her mother and even more recent re-marriage of her father. Add in a breakup with a controlling boyfriend and her life is anything but charmed.
Jennifer, though, drawing on her LDS faith, doesn’t let these trials weigh her down as she enthusiastically faces the challenges of her new job and cheerfully strives to serve others in her new ward. She goes the extra mile as she befriends a lonely man who suffers the devastating loss of his love, Claire, and who spends his evenings waiting on the beach for her appearance. Jennifer’s service and attitude makes a difference and, as is always the case, when we forget ourselves in the service of others is when we truly find ourselves. The same happens to Jennifer as her heart is healed and opened to new love.
You won’t want to put Clairvoyance down, the points of conflict are honest and relevant, making it a book you’ll connect with easily and want to read from start to finish. This would be an excellent choice for a book club, particularly with young women—there is much to be discussed.
Joan has given us a beautiful and interesting story, but what makes me want to jump up and say “thank you” is that we now have a story about a strong young woman who, when faced with difficult challenges, seeks guidance from the Spirit, does her best to follow it and continually strives to be a disciple of Christ, even when she doesn’t feel like it. Isn’t this what we’re all trying to do? Thank you, Joan!

This is the first book I have read authored by Joan Sowards. I love clean romance novels and Joan Sowards’ background and style fit me to a tee. Since we share a common LDS background I was immediately at home as I began reading and could relate to every character in the book with ease. Every plot twist, every challenge experienced by Jennifer, the situation with Willy and Clair, the attitudes of inactive church members, remarriage so soon after the death of a spouse, and even the dealings with the mayor – all these were so true to life and my past experiences that I marveled at Joan Sowards’ writing skill. She came across to me as a person who had been there and done that prior to writing the first word. I look forward to finding and reading her other works.

This book was full of fun, hope, spirituality, and romance. I love reading clean romances where the characters experience real situations. Jennifer makes the most of difficult and painful situations as she works through the struggles of losing a parent while dealing with a miserable ex. Her choice to work through her trials and make the most of the life she is blessed with is an inspiration. What a great read that allows us to connect to the spirit and see others the way the Lord would see them.

This was an interesting book with many characters. Even though it carries a romantic thread, the plot holds so much more of what we experience in life, such as death of loved ones, fellowships info our brothers and sisters in the Gospel, learning to accept people even we disagree with their choices. I was really impressed with the way the author wove several subplots together and loved the setting in Oregon, not your usual setting for an LDS story.

Excellent!

I read all night.
This is the first of Joan Soward's books I have read but not the last. I loved Jennifer, enjoyed watching her overcome her "baggage" as she help others drop theirs.

Sweet romance bordering on too sweet. I liked the characters, but Jennifer was too perfect. The story was a little predictable and the relation to the title didn't flow with the storyline. Overall, cute but....

This book was just ok. It was pretty boring and the last two chapters was crammed with everything falling into place with everyone.
