Alexa Riley Promises #2

Blackmailing the Virgin

Rate this book
Welcome back to Alexa Riley Promises. This series is dedicated to old romances. It’s tropes galore, with all of our usual over-the-top alphas and sweet cheesy goodness.

These short books will focus on traditional and classic tropes while sticking to the Alexa Riley code: no cheating and always with an HEA. That’s our Promise to you.

Blackmailing the Virgin

When Calder Cox sees Felicity for the first time, he has to have her. There’s nothing that will hold him back…until he finds out she’s his lawyer’s daughter.

Felicity Chandler is graduating college soon but has no idea what she wants to do. While playing her violin one night, she sees Calder and feels instantly drawn to him. But when he tries to keep his distance, she doesn’t know what to do with all of her feelings.

Calder can’t be held off much longer, and when his control snaps, there are consequences. Felicity might be trying to run, but he’ll make sure she stays…even if he has to blackmail her to do it.

Warning: This is an Alexa Riley Promise, so it’s over the top, contains no cheating, and will always come with an HEA. It’s a ridiculous baby-making drama that’s packed full of heat.

Another AR best seller!

description

Yay! So happy I got to read another great AR story! I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical of Calder's behaviour and how he could redeem himself for the shit he pulled at the beginning but this is AR we are talking about. Of course he managed to turn from an real asshole to a book boyfriend in a blink of an eye. And the way he was all alpha and OTT about Felicity was simply icing on the cake. I loved it! And as for Felicity, she definitely got some plus points for standing up for herself and not letting a man walk all over her. Well, that is until she was blackmailed by non other than her lovely stalkerish one night stand. The man sure knows how to get what he wants and that is by any means necessary. So a little blackmailing is completely acceptable. Why not, right? After all he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go Calder!

description

The only thing that did bother me, besides the slight OW drama, was Felicity's dad. I didn't like his constant rant about how Felicity was just like her mother. If my dad always told me that, I probably wouldn't feel so good about myself. I get that he didn't mean it the way it sounded but, dude, your daughter doesn't know that, especially if you don't tell her and simply let her assume the worst!

description

As already said, I really liked their story and I wouldn't mind reading more about it. The epilogue was so sweet and just what the story needed. All that's left for me to do now is to patiently wait for another AR treat. :)

It's LIVE!!!<3

Just when I thought I couldn't love Alexa Riley's books any more, they prove me wrong!
I ADORED this one, and I'm specially loving this series!!!
With the old school HQ feel, a bit of angst is created (nothing OTT, no worries) which enhances the eroticism of the whole book. The storyline becomes much richer and holds you so captive that, like with a decadent piece of chocolate cake, you devour it in one sitting without realizing but, unlike it, when you find yourself in the end you have no guilt, only happy bliss due to the always present AR wonderful epilogue!

Ps. Yes, I compared AR's book with a piece of chocolate, since they are both my not so guilty pleasures!!
If you're one of those chocolate cake haters (if there exists such a person, LOL) you can replace it, while reading the review, with your most coveted culinary indulgence.
Or better yet, just skip and go read this delicious story which unlike any food, it may lead you to spend some calories in the most creative baby making ways! ;)

This totally read like an old school Diana Palmer book lol It definitely has the AR signature touch of utter caveman possessiveness but there was also some depth to the plot which is not usually achieved in a short story. Although the way he goes about it is all kinds of wrong, Calder is gone for his business partner's daughter, Felicity. They hit a few rough patches and lack a generous helping of communication but we do eventually get our HEA. The story had its share of cheesy OTT moments we've come to expect from AR. I absolutely loved the epilogue. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing though the H has another woman in his life (but not romantically) and the h has a male friend around. No rape/abuse. h was a V. No condoms. There is pushing away.

Well... this is taking a caveman way to a whole new level! The Alexa Riley Promises quickly becoming one of the best series of the authors.

Blackmailing the Virgin is a short story about a businessman Calder Cox. He is a powerful, arrogant and self-confident men. When he sees a girl who plays the violin on the balcony during a party, he is immediately dazzled by her and wants to possess her. Felicity is a nice girl who is not aware of her advantages. She has some problems with confidence and faith in herself. That comes from the fact that her infamy mother left her when she was young. Her whole life she was daddy's girl and lived with the consequences of the lack of a role model of woman.

Felicity and Calder share earth-shaking kiss on the balcony. But when it turns out that she is the daughter of his company's attorney, he forced himself to withdraw. He tries to forget her, but after some time when he sees her again, he couldn't control himself any longer. However, for the shy Felicity passionate night will not be the beginning of a great love, but will force her to face the changes. And Calder will make sure that she would be his forever.

Calder, that sexy beast, is big the cavemen of the word. He is grumpy and jealous of every glance at her. Do not take no for an answer. His moments of madness are pretty funny and mega sexy. Certainly not all women consider such methods as sexy. But there is something very exciting in these alpha males. And for sure when it is combined with a lot of affection and devotion. He can also use his attitude to give Felicity extreme pleasure in steaming scenes in bed. And at the same in the reader fantasies. Winks. Winks.

It's a standard set of possessive man and shy female. It gives you sexy mix with dirty side. And although it is still insta-love at its best from Alexa Riley, the action took place in the space of a few months. It adds some tension and develop the storyline in fantastic way. Not only smut but also heart melting story.

I found this book and the whole series as a very pleasant to read. There is something in those old romances what we like and what we miss for. I can't hide that I became a fan of these affairs and I hope for a lot more.

Alexa Riley is the perfect author for when I need something fast and dirty. I know she'll always deliver the hotness that I need and so far I haven't been disappointed yet. This book was quick and easy to read, and the sexiness that we got was off the charts. I kind of wish there were a few more scenes between Calder and Felicity, but I was still super happy with the ones we did get.

Alexa Riley returns with the second novella in the Promises series, once again and as I have come to expect, I devoured this book in one sitting.

The taking of well used tropes and giving them a smuttier spin, with the addition of an all-sorts of over-the-top alpha male just works, Calder was akin to a dog marking his territory as soon as he came across Felicity, and I absolutely loved that he was a little bit of an asshole in the beginning. I have a thing for assholes, especially when they then spend the latter portions of a book trying to repair the damage their ass-holiness has caused within their relationships.

I am all kinds of out of sorts when I’m around him.

Innocent kitten Felicity, soon turns into a bit of a lioness when Calder puts his proverbial foot in it and in a big jump-to-conclusions kind of way, and I loved that the authors took this relationships arc over the course of months, even though it was still all-sorts of insta everything, being on different continents for some of the first half meant that everything developed steadily.

"You and I have something that can’t be so easily broken."

Again, the whole predictably perfect story-line was finished off with an absolutely stellar epilogue, and a good time was had by all! I wish we had got to read some of the mentioned emails from Calder to Felicity though, nothing pleases me more than a few grovelly, sexy, sweet emails in my romance. However, I cannot wait to see what the Promises series offers up next.

Once with her will never be enough.

This is how I feel every time AR's books are about to come out...
Ready to devour them and yet never get enough!

Blackmailing her was the smartest thing I ever did.

This book was pretty awesome.I really enjoyed Calder and Felicity trying to find what was missing from their lives. It was a typical AR book fall in love in the first sight, fast paced, virgin heroine and a possessive and jealous alpha male. But the interesting part about this book was the fact that the hero wasn't all soft and ready to complete every wish his woman had, he was more on the hard side in order to have her...like he didn't hesitate whatsoever to blackmail her and own her for the rest of their lives...And let me tell you I didn't mined seeing a different side of Calder...I really enjoyed it!
description
They had some hot moments here and there all steamy and stuff...Why do I enjoy so damn much these possessive alpha male going all crazy and caveman for their women...??? I mean can I have one of my own, just to see what's the fuss is all about...?

Every aspect of this story was engaging; from the lovable characters to the quirky dialogue and superb writing.

Felicity is a senior college student; she’s extremely shy and introverted. Calder is her father’s business partner; he’s rich, confident, sexy and alpha possessive. Felicity’s beauty, brains and purity soon captures Calder’s interest. Blinded by his intensity to have her, Calder will stop at nothing to make her his. Their erotic escape ends in an unplanned pregnancy but Felicity is determined to keep her distance. Now Calder has to convince the only woman he has ever wanted that for him, Felicity is like no other woman he's ever met.

I liked Calder, he cares about Felicity and it’s sweet how alpha male he’s over her. Calder is insane with jealousy toward anyone who so much as looks at Felicity. Also, my opinion is the love scenes are tastefully done and amazingly hot!

The book was so fun to read…the pace was quick but it was so wonderful. In the end, reading this book was a breath of fresh air that I really needed and I feel like it’s recharged my brain and appetite for reading.

I've got a thing for dark-haired grumpy men, and I don't ever see that changing.

ME TOO!

This was everything I wanted and more. Miscommunication. Surprise baby. Blackmail. Possessive grumpy, asshole leading man who says things like this:

Looks like I'll have to make her cum about thirty more times before she'll give me what I want. Fine. Challenge accepted.

LOVES

Fluffy, ridiculous, cheestastic. Just the way I like my Alexa Riley books to be.

Even though Alexa is the queen of insta love/lust she manages to still have some great story lines in her books with each one being different than the next.
I found this one a little different although there was insta love/lust it took a while for it all to come together for the H and h.
I was stuck on one line where the H said the h lady bits smelled of flowers and summer!! So I had this picture in my head the whole time I was reading..................

There was a few editorial mistakes in this one which I found strange for an Alexa Riley book, it was no big deal though and I enjoyed the story.

2* not virgin anymore STARS!

It seems Alexa Riley stay on the romantic line. I kinda liked Mr and Mrs (Book #1) but this, I hardly enjoyed it. The story about a successful businessman who met a virgin college girl. Calder and Felicity instantly in lust towards each other. The thing is Felicity seems too young and he didn't really know her beside her father is his business partner. But that didn't stop him to claim Felicity.
“What are you doing here?” she gasps, but her legs spread under me, allowing my steel-hard cock to press against her hot, panty-covered pussy.
“I’m giving us both what we need, sweetheart. I can’t stay away from you any longer. I’ve tried, but seeing you tonight was my undoing. Please, Felicity. Please don’t turn me away.”
...
“Let me have you, Felicity.”

So, the next day Calder pooped her cherry and act like an asshole. He fucked up so badly. Calder was so horny all the time and couldn't think anything else beside Felicity. For me, the most stupid thing ever is There is nothing PLUS or something WOW me for both Calder and Felicity.
“You didn’t have to make me fall in love with you. I’ve been in love with you from that first kiss. I love you.”

Aside from reality, this case was really didn't make any sense. The whole blackmailing was so late despite it's the title. Insta-freakin'-lust shouldn't make a baby. What's wrong with everyone and baby? Why are they so obsessed? Sorry for my rants. MAYBE this is not for me. MAYBE you'll more enjoy it than I did.

3.75 stars! enjoyable sexy read. I didn't care too much how the first time they had sex went down and how there were two separations but I can't complain otherwise:) Hero was a bit of an ass but I love how OTT alpha he was after the fact! Love epilogues and of course I want more:)

safety :
hero does have best friend from fourth grade who heroine thinks they are an item. There has never been anything between them. more like brother and sister. nothing is mentioned about his past. we only know it's been a long time for him!

Heroine has a male friend but she never seen him that way even though he has tried to kiss her before (he only got her cheek)!nothing to worry about.Heroine is a virgin never even had a kiss!

As some of you may know I have a mild to severe phobia of all things pregnant. As you may also know, Alexa Riley has a new brand of books under the Promise title. They put a great big pregnant person on the cover of the first one so I decided it would be safest for everyone involved if I just not read it because: ACK!

Now they have released a new one which I decided to read because there was no great big pregnant person on the cover. I also didn’t really pay attention to the foreword/warning thing because: EH.

Usually I can happily deal with their sweet brand of smut because there is mostly only TALKING about getting pregnant and then maybe we have some baby popping action in the epilogue. But guess what? It has an actual pregnant person in it. Oops.

So to save myself and my gag reflex, this review will be about cupcakes.

When a man and a woman love each other very much they sometimes feel like something sweet and then feel a great urge to make cupcakes together. Now, ideally, a man and a woman want to bake this cupcake together but sometimes the woman will become frightened because maybe her father won’t approve of this cupcake or the man may not want to see the baking of said cupcake through to the end and so she will want to keep the cupcake a secret.

Only sometimes the man becomes fiercely protective of the… oven… in which these cupcakes are baked and so he will do his best to come up with inventive and borderline illegal ways to make the woman stay because she is the only one who knows how the oven works… Yes… that makes sense…

So anyway! Alexa Riley loves writing short cook books and their cupcake recipes are specifically delicious. Their cupcakes are one of a kind and extremely sweet and creamy and… moist. Their decorations are over the top and their ingredients are only of the very best quality so if you are the type who enjoys baking cupcakes… even if you enjoy baking them by yourself alone in your room before bed… then I would suggest reading this one!

Another fabulous book by Alexa Riley. I enjoyed every book I've read by them and they're so good like this one.

The story was about Calder and Felicity.

Felicity's home from college for a few days. Her father held a thanksgiving party and Calder was one of the guests.. He's a new big client of her father.

She's home again for Christmas and New Year. They had a great night together but the next day, Calder was a jerk to her. He even judged her so she wanted him to just leave. She left after that and went back to university.

He regretted the things he said to her. Sending her emails everyday with no response. He decided to give her time thinking she's not yet ready until he snapped and couldn't take it anymore so he went after her on the day of her graduation. He demanded her to marry him or he'll ruin her father's career.

They got married and wanted to try to make their marriage work. Questions had been answered and doubts had been cleared and they got their HEA with a very nice epilogue.

Sweet read cute story with a nice epilogue. What more can I say it's a trade mark Alexa Riley. Alpha guy, sweet beautiful heroine and a sweet baby drama. All I ever have to say it that it's too short. Wanted more but I am starting to think she AR does this on purpose. It leaves you wanting more. Enjoyable.

Alexa Riley once again delivers another short sweet sexy dominant alpha male and innocent virgin romance that will be sure to leave you smiling big. In their latest release, Blackmailing the Virgin, readers are given a love at first sight romance but with a blackmail twist. The blurb of the book pretty much tells readers as to what to expect with this story and so it’s pretty much your typical Alexa Riley sweet and sexy HEA romance. So if you like dominant alpha male hero who falls madly in love with an innocent virgin then this book is for you. Overall, this was just a fun sweet read that will leave a smile on your face.

In this second installment of this series, Calder is a powerful business man that falls in love at first sight with his lawyer’s daughter.
But when things goes in a direction he doesn’t expect, Felicity runs through his fingers and he realizes he he’ll do anything to get her back… including blackmailing the very same woman he’s in love with.

I’m a simple girl, and as much I like to read amazing love journeys and complex romance books there are some days I just want to sit back, relax and have fun with a book That’s usually when Alexa Riley enters: short, quick to read books, full of steam, insta-love, alpha heroes and all kinds of clichés with lots of cheese on top. What’s not to love, right??!

I got some very weird vibes from Caldor. He was too dominating sometimes because he forced her into a marriage by blackmailing her. It was borderline abusive. But the ending fixed it up a little bit because he explained why he did what he did and I'm starting to think he would have never done that even if she decided not to marry him. Maybe. I'm actually not sure. And also, Caldor kept demanding her to tell him she loved him but I was like OKAY BUD BUT WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAN UP AND DO IT?

“You didn’t have to make me fall in love with you. I’ve been in love with you from that first kiss. I love you.”

For me Alexa Riley book's are either a win or a lose. But this book was kind-of in-between for me. I loved the sexy Calder but he was annoying dick too but a reasonable one.I love the female MC too. I loved her very much in the first half of this book, but the other half part was annoying. I didn't connect with her. As we all know that in AR books we always get a HEA and insta-love and if you don't like it, then just simply ignore her short books.

"I want a thousand nights like this and then a thousand more"

Calder is a beast, a caveman. And gets whatever he wants. he is grumpy and a jealous kind of lover. Never takes no for a answer and he loves Felicity. His jealous moments with her was so funny and sexy. I usually don't like this caveman grumpy asshole MC's but in Clader these traits are like a second skin. I loved him in this book and wanted more but hell it was so very short.

"Being able to give her this kind of pleasure makes me feel like a God, even though I'm the one kneeling."

Calder and Felicity shared a hot-as-fuck kiss. But when it turns out that she was the daughter of his company's attourney, he back out and turns cold. But when he see's other guys even smile on her side, he was fuming with jealousy. Calder tried everything to stay away from her but he failed and then comes a stupid decision to go to her room. and then hell broke down. and then the real story starts from there.

This is the second book in Alexa Riley's new Promises series. It was an enjoyable quick and smutty read which is what I wanted.

At a party, Caulder Cox steps out onto the roof intending to get some fresh air, but instead finds a girl playing the violin. He's immediately enamored with her and they share a kiss that rocks both of their worlds.

"To call it a kiss wouldn't do it justice. No that was a claiming."

Soon he finds out that she's the daughter of his company attorney. He tries to stay away from her, but can't. When he stumbles into her room late one night, they share a night of passion, but his fears and insecurities lead him to saying hurtful things to her the next morning.

Immediately she returns to England to finish her last semester of college and graduate. Caulder can't forget about her. Something about her pushes away the sadness in his life. When his emails of apology go unanswered for months and learning of her graduation he knows that he has to see her. He is determined to make her his even if he has to blackmail her.

This is only my third book to read by Alexa Riley, but I've come to realize that she's the go to lady for short, steamy, sexy reads. Sometimes you're just in a mood for that and she will deliver. While I enjoyed reading this book there were a few actions taken by the hero that if I didn't know that I was reading a smut novel I could have easily been persuaded to think he was a stalker in a mystery novel. I had to laugh when I realized this. Anyway, it was an enjoyable read, but I like the first book in the series better.
