Greer O’Brien has seen all kinds of tragedy as a homicide detective, and she’s witnessed her fair share as a banshee, too. When she finds a dying man, the banshee sings his death-song – except the handsome shifter doesn’t stay dead. Greer isn’t ready for Malcolm MacNevin to disrupt her solitary life, and she certainly isn’t ready for him to kidnap her.
Malcolm struggles to find peace with the demon bear that possesses him, and is lost until Greer’s song awakens him from a very dark place. Before he can convince the beautiful detective to stay with him, though, Malcolm learns his baby sister has gone missing in the city. He has to find her before the rogue pack does.
When Malcolm’s search runs afoul of the law, Greer walks a fine line between her oath as a detective and her growing feelings for Malcolm. She’ll even face off with Russian mobsters, crazy fae overlords, and a rogue pack to save Malcolm’s sister. But will that be enough to save Malcolm from his demons?
Cool and funny heroine. I liked the fact that there was no insta love, at least not from her side. A few aspects of the story didn't make much sense to me, but I still enjoyed it.
I hope I get to read Lacey and Nick's story soon. Am so glad they finally got rid of the alpha, but they still have to dismantle all his facilities and shady deals. Time to get rid of the coyotes too.
I was annoyed. He sees bear shifters and wolf shifters and lions etc oh my, but when it happens to him, it’s a demon he can pray away? If I were his animal half, I’d want to smack him around. Gadzooks!
Shorter story than expected! Mal was bitten and thinks his bear is a demon, maybe because his parents never want to see him again! Not my favorite of the series!
This book was very interesting. Greer was scary, lol but the love Mal had for her was awesome. I really did like the bears story's. It was a lot of action in the stories and the family unit was great. I love the author's series.
Great continuation of the series. A police detective, who has her own secrets, get wrangled into the mess with the shifters. Malcolm past comes to visit. Where did Smith go?
I really like how the author mixes up Shifters with the Fae, Gorgons, and now Banshees! Of course this is the story of Malcolm. The bear who was converted and still believes that he has a demon inside his body that needs to be thrown out. He is not looking for trouble but his sister comes to town and is kidnapped. Now he needs the help of police detective Greer O’Brien to help him find her. Only trouble is he's not quite sure she's forgiven him for running away with her when she was unconscious in the hospital.
Since I am binge reading this series, I am seeing all the intricacies laced throughout all the books woven together and I am impressed by the amount of information the author has to keep straight while writing. This book highlights some of that challenge for the author. 5/5
I love these City Shifters Series. I love the depth and emotion that the author brings to these insta-love stories. I highly recommend these series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance books with a ton of heat and danger and emotion. However, I highly recommend that these books be read order of publication so you get the best experience possible.
