Kirkland

It should have been easy.

When I was told to protect a client who owns an adult website, I imagined a woman who was impossibly tall with legs all the way to her chin. I saw curves that were subtle but perfect for holding onto. I saw a face that was symmetrical, everything proportioned as it should be. I saw a beautiful, sophisticated woman, the kind I loved to welcome into my bed.

Until I met the client herself. Mabel Watson. She was wearing a bulky sweater that was a God-awful blue color with little, black dogs all over it. Her hair was pulled back into pigtails that were then twisted into cutesy little buns. And...she actually had on knee socks!

Ash told me to keep my hands to myself. I sure as hell will...

Mabel

Hypocrisy drives me up a wall, yet I’m probably the biggest hypocrite to ever live. I own one of the leading adult websites in the country, maybe even the world, Cumming’s Treasure. But I don’t know what half the terms used as common language on my website mean. You see, I’m a virgin.

I grew up in a conservative, religious household and getting my mom’s voice out of the back of my head is almost impossible. Until I lay eyes on Kirkland Parish. An operative for Gray Wolf Security, Kirkland is supposed to be my guardian, my shield between my quiet world and the threats that have promised my impeding death.

He’s the one man who can turn my world on its end and make me feel things I didn’t think I was capable of feeling. I’m just not sure if he is capable of love…and I’m definitely not sure that he’d ever be able to love me.

Note: KIRKLAND is the fourth book in the Gray Wolf Security series. You can read it on it's own, but it is highly recommended that you read DONOVAN, DAVID and JOSS too :)

This series was offered as a 5 book bundle and a kindleunlimited, so I decided, why not. I was originally going to write separate reviews for each book, but I've decided not to, and here's why: Every single book in this bundle felt almost identical. They had the same exact formula. All the characters felt the same, they reacted to situations the same etc. Very generic overall. I'd rate most of the books in this series a 2.5 star with the exception of Kirkland. I'm going to rate that book a 1.5 star because the hero was such a manwhore. In other books in the series he was constantly parading around women and screwing them, at times not even knowing their name. Ummm no thanks. By the time I even got to his book I had little interest in his character, but I did complete the book, and still did not feel as if he redeemed himself. I doubt I will read anymore of this writers work. It just felt overly predictable and generic. Cardboard characters and plot. I am glad it was offered on kindleunlimited though.

Meh. Debating on reading the other books because my mama didn't raise no quitter, but then I'd likely be reading more 'meh'.

Next up Kirkland...2.5***

Kirkland has started to feel anxious and ready to move on from Gray Wolf Security. All his team members are falling in love and forming their own families and he feels left out. He doesn't believe in happily ever after, love, and has trust issues because of his upbringing. With no plans of settling down he goes from woman to woman. His team members constantly worry about him, even though he doesn't realize it, to them he is family. He has no concept of what family is.

His new assignment is Mabel Watson, who is the CEO of Cumming's Treasure, which is a website that offers x-rated videos, sex toys, and porn videos. She was referred to Gray Wolf by her friend Ricki. She has been getting e-mails from someone threatening to kill her.

This is a quick steamy read. There is action and suspense as Gray Wolf tries to uncover who is after Mabel and why and then we have Kirkland and Mabel trying to fight the feelings that are developing. Mabel is totally different than the women Kirkland is usually attracted to. She comes from a religious family and is a very quirky dresser but Kirkland thinks she is beautiful and very smart.

This was just okay for me. Mystery solved and there is an HEA

Where to start to explain how bad this story is? Characters: I was SO looking forward to reading Kirkland's story. I thought he was adorable in the first 2 stories and in the third it just made him more endearing... until I read this book! I can't STAND him in this book! He is rude, condescending, self-centered, antagonist, I could go on. He was disrespectful in his thoughts about everyone on the team. he was negative about every single member, even Ash and Joss. And saying he doesn't trust them to have his back... WHAT IS THAT?!?! His "trust issues" was played up way too much. He can have "trust issues" without going to that point.

And then there's Mable. Ugh! She annoyed me. Again, the author took her "self confidence issues" to an extreme. I couldn't stand her much better than I could him.

And then there's the fact that they kept offering to leave her, the client who is receiving death threats. Ash telling him why doesn't he take the night off. Um, I'm sorry, who is going to guard her? Anyone?

And then there's the plot. I won't say who was behind the threats, but I was praying the entire time I was wrong! For crying out loud, it was so clichéd. and, of the 3 books before, THIS WAS ALREADY DONE! If you don't have any new ideas for stories, don't write any more! And then when it did get to the "dramatic conclusion" they just cut it off. I kept thinking I was missing a page in there somewhere.

Such a disappointing read. it's good I'm already invested in the series or I would not have continued.

These just keep getting better and better. I am so glad these women aren’t just the women we know who get the handsome, out of reach men. The female characters aren’t the typical leading women. Yes they are beautiful but they are also strong and independent, and Mabel is no different. She is quirky and I couldn’t help but pull for her. Kirkland kind of always has a special place in my heart. I knew he was more than what we knew of his character previously. This one was such a great read.

This is a fun book to read, I really enjoyed it . The storyline was engaging and I really like the characters. I am excited to read the last book to find out about Ashford and Alexi . I actually found that more interesting than the storyline, but I still enjoyed the book.

Kirkland is..well, he's a manwhore. He changes women more than his underwear. I had the impression he's incapable of commitment and likes variety so it was nice to see him end up with someone who is the complete opposite of what you'd expect. He doesn't necessarily flaunt his sexuality, he just has a natural charm that seems to draws women in.

Mabel is from a religious family, is an eccentric dresser, and has wicked smarts..considering she owns and runs a porn site. And she's a virgin-just a small problem (to her) in her line of business. Mabel is a quirky one, someone I would least expect Kirkland to hook up with, but it works. She shows a side of him only his closest friends really get to see.

I'd only read Joss in this series and was a little disappointed yet was still interested in Kirkland's story. His did not leave me hanging! While the bad guy was obvious early on, the intimate moments between Mabel and Kirkland was sweet, not exactly hot and heavy to me, just more emotional in the way they open up to each other with their insecurities. Their story clips along at a good pace while catching up on the rest of the team. Easy to read by itself, there are enough mentions to make me go back and explore the rest of the group's stories.

My only complaint, Kirkland is bundled with 5 books from the author's billionaire series so his story is only 14% of the ebook package- his book is 28 chapters with an epilogue so you still get the full story, it's just misleading if you're looking at your progress.

I expected much more out of this book than was delivered. I liked Mabel’s character and the contradictions she presented, but her and Kirkland felt forced- it’s like, the author wanted to pair him with someone completely antithetical to his norm and made it happen, but it didn’t feel natural. Their encounters together were stilted and awkward, I didn’t think they had great chemistry together AT ALL!! Oh, and the “villain”… why is it ALWAYS ?!?! I mean, come on, really… I think this is the third time something similar has happened in this series.

Can I just say how much I hate it when an author uses the "C-word" in a love scene? I can't remember if this is the first time I've seen it used in this series or not, but it was done at least twice and is very distracting. It's not sexy, it's an ugly word associated with derogatory connotations and there are numerous better words to use.

I was looking forward to this book probably most of all and sadly was disappointed...

Ok... so my problem is not with the story.. but I obviously missed a memo where the "book" ended at 14%. Literally... 14% and this story is done. I don't mind novella's. I don't mind adding a teaser at the end of a book. But when the majority -86 freaking %- of the kindle downloaded "book" is other stuff... that I mind. I was struggling at the 10% mark trying to figure out how they were going to drag this story out longer. Well, SURPRISE, they didn't! So, If you are going to read this story, just go into knowing that the end point of this book is at the 14% mark... no where near the actual end of the "book".

Love

I truly live this series! This is another amazing book. Kirkland doesn't believe that love is real. With everything that's happened in his life, he doesn't trust anyone, not even those he works with. Then he is working for someone that would never have normally even crossed his radar. A virgin that is CEO of a porn website...how ironic. Watching how Kiekland struggles with his feelings for Mabel is funny and heartbreaking at the same time. And how he finally figured out what's been happening in his heart all along hurt my heart in ways I didn't think it would. Can't wait to see how things with Ash goes in the next book.

I really enjoyed Kirkland and Mabel's story. It was a unique matching, but something that worked out better than if it had been your typical playboy meets perfect woman. Mabel was a beautiful, independent, intelligent, yet quirky woman who held fast to her own beliefs, not those of her family or church. Kirkland had lived a extremely hard life, loved and lost fiercely, and turned to his playboy ways as a way to escape the pain. When she hires Gray Wolf Security, neither realize or are ready for the ways their lives are about to change.

A great suspenseful romance that was a fantastic addition to this series.
I strongly recommend this book and series.

I was hoping for more from this book. We have known from book 1 that Kirkland has a reputation for being a man-whore. It bothered me that he admits that the only way he knows how to calm down female clients is to sleep with them...really? Could you even try to be professional? I struggled with the plot overall and felt it was just too cliche.

Good read

Another good book in the Gray Wolf series. Kirkland's story he is the playboy of the security team he doesn't believe in love and really doesn't trust anyone. It takes a very special woman to break down his walls and Mabel is just the one to do it, she is unusual to say the least but she games the bad boy. Definitely a good read.

Kirkland

Need more of a ending to Kirkland. Finding myself hanging in the wind at the end of the novel. Stop adding the same additional stories and give the readers more. Kirkland was a womanizer and I felt he went down to easy. . .not like New Orleans style either. Ms. Sinclair you are a creative writer come up with a little more and place it on the pages.

I love this Grey Wolf series, and this book does not disappoint. Mabel is a CEO of an Erotic and porn website. Lately she has been getting death threats and her best friend encourages her to hire her fiancé's security firm Grey Wolf. Kirkland is the operative that is assigned to protect her.

Kirkland!!!

Wow, that was exciting. The threat was inside all the time. He was too hard on himself. I really want to know what happened with his brothers. People make choices in their life but you can't hold yourself responsible for their decisions to live their lives.

Another playboy off the market!! Whoo-Hoo!! So now that's 2 individuals close to the target that wanted revenge? First Ricki now Mabel? Why couldn't it be someone else other than those closest to them?

Read via Gray Wolf Security box set.

I can't wait to read Ash's story, the build up has been intriguing. Kirkland didn't fall as hard as I thought he would, but loved that the female lead was original and smart, and he appreciated that in her almost immediately.
