This is a book for anyone for anyone with an interest in old time radio. It was published in 1963 when radio's golden age was barely cold in its grave, and many of the people who made radio the great entertainment medium that it was were still around. The authors, who themselves had long careers in radio, give us an entertaining look at the history of commercial radio from its early experimental days, through the development of the major networks and the heyday of the great dramas and comedies. to the beginnings of the top-40 formats. Lots of great pictures too.
Excellent book on the history of radio as a medium. The authors were both involved in radio broadcasting early on, and interview a number of individuals from the field in this book of rather interesting anecdotes. The sections on Phil Lord and Jimmy Wallington are very interesting, and I have to say that I learned quite a few new tidbits about the golden age of radio. Definitely recommended, if you can manage to find a copy.
