Como empiezo...es una historia al más puro estilo de los reportajes de Cuarto Milenio...misterios, acción, cosas raras...me ha encantado.
Al empezar a leer si que es versad que me costó entrar en la historia, me daba la sensación de que faltaba contexto...antecedentes que explicaran un poco más el relato. Ahora bien...cuando ya estuvo todo más o menos claro, ha sido un no parar de leer. Menciona cuadros y he tenido que pararme cada dos por tres a buscarlos para verlos...(hagánlo son horriblemente fascinantes 😁) y te haces una idea más completa.
Otra cosa que me ha resultado curiosa es que gran parte del libro la he leído como lo haría Iker Jiménez jajajajaja, como si estuviera oyendo uno de sus programas.
Totalmente recomendado 😊

Me ha gustado, contiene arte, historia, suspense y misterio, una combinación que engancha, además mantiene un buen ritmo, lo que hace que sea de fácil lectura.

Me deja con muchas intrigas y con ganas de investigar sobre un montón de temas que han salido en el libro, y la verdad es que me ha tenido en vilo y con ganas de saber más a cada página... ¡se me ha acabado haciendo muy corto!

I must confess, the first time I tried to read this book, I coundn't pass pages, so I rated it with the lowest qualiphication, but, I was wrong, this book is absolutely amaizing, even when the reading is sometimes slow and of course, you have to be in the mood to read it. I mean, I just happened to read another book - this was from Javier Sierra, another spanish writer very similiar to Iker Jimenez for the topics he choose. - I read El Maestro del Prado, where Javier Sierra introduce you to the strange world were painting from greatest artist are more than just color put together, they usually have a hidden message or a message that only the initiates can understand.
In Iker's book the center of the plot revolves around the works of Hyeronimus Van Aken, o Jerónimo Bosch, better known as El Bosco, the painter, author of painting like El Jardín de las delicias (the Garden of delights)..
Anibal, a young journalist and famous radio broadcaster, investigates the mistery that surrounded the death of a well-known argentinian journalist and broadcaster, called Lucas Galvan, which ocurred 30 years earlier.
Galvan's dead body was found in an old and abandoned cementery in a town called Tinieblas de la Sierra, in Toledo, basically a ghost town. It was said that he had gone mad and obsessed with the pictorical works of Bosch. Anibal's research leads him to visit the Prado Museum and the Escorial and Venice, knowing more closely the dark mystery that surrounds the paintings of the genius, as well as the obsession that Felipe II, the Spanish monarch who built the monastery of the Escorial and wanted to finish his days, looking at the works of El Bosco. But there are people who do not want the truth to be known, and soon Anibal is involved in a career where he also has to save his life.
If you like historical fiction mix with horror, this is your book, I know you will enjoy it

Books of this genre tend to be predictable and stereotypical, basing their plot on a fictional or real ancient religion/sect/heresy, on one or more real historical figures, twisting completely the concepts and facts surrounding them in order to build some conspiracy that the main protagonist of the novel will uncover, risking his life on the process. Of course our hero will discover layer after layer of hidden apocryphal knowledge, alternative versions of well-known events and facts, he will get to know and bond with beautiful, sensitive but brave women and he might "lose" a couple of faithful friends on the way.
My main problem with this specific book was that Iker Jiménez didn't manage to paint a clear picture of the secret, ancient religion/herery, what their beliefs and motives and aims were, so most parts of the story didn't make any cohesive sense to me. Furthermore, I found the characters one-dimentional and I didn't manage to connect with any of them. The pace was veeery slow too.
The author tried to keep some plot elements secret to reveal them later and create an impact, but I don't think he achieved much, while the narrator seems to make circles and the plot is repetitive in most parts of the book. The little action that exists towards the end of the story didn't impress me either, often the scenes aren't described in detail while they get interupted for the main character to narrate what happened after the action scene is over eg next day or something!
The strong element of this genre is supposed to be the ambiance and suspense, but I feel that this book failed completely on that aspect.
The premise of this kind of books is full of cliche and hyperboles anyway, but the flaws I mentioned above made this specific novel boring and stressed its superficial characters and ridiculous plot even more. I was often very close to abandon it, but I didn't and I finished it, thus 2 starts instead of 1. Maybe it's me/bad timing, but I don't think so...

Πιάνουν κάποια φανταστική ή πραγματική αρχαία θρησκεία/αίρεση, ένα ή περισσότερα ιστορικά πρόσωπα και μετά να το πω απλά, τους αλλάζουνε την πίστη (συχνά κυριολεκτικά!) για να χτίσουν μία δήθεν συνομωσία που ξεσκεπάζει με κίνδυνο της ζωής του ο πρωταγωνιστής. Φυσικά στην πορεία θα ανακαλύπτει σταδιακά, επίπεδο το επίπεδο μυστικές γνώσεις και εναλλακτικά γεγονότα για την επίσημη ιστορία, θα γνωρίσει γοητευτικές, ευάλωτες αλλά θαρραλέες γυναίκες και ίσως και να χάσει ένα δυο πιστούς συντρόφους του στην πορεία.
Το πρόβλημά μου με αυτό το βιβλίο είναι ότι δεν κατάφερε να χτίσει ο συγγραφέας μία κάπως πειστική εικόνα για την Αδελφότητα του Ελευθέρου Πνεύματος και τι ακριβώς πρέσβευε και τι επεδίωκε, οπότε πάρα πολλά σημαντικά σημεία της πλοκής δεν έβγαζαν κανένα νόημα για εμένα κι επίσης δεν κατάφερε σε κανένα σημείο να με κάνει να ενδιαφερθώ για τους χαρακτήρες, ενώ και ο ρυθμός είναι πάρα πολύ αργός. Ο Χιμένεζ κρατούσε πολλά στοιχεία υποτίθεται κρυφά ώστε η αποκάλυψή τους να εντυπωσιάσει τον αναγνώστη αργότερα, αλλά εμένα δεν μου έκαναν καμία αίσθηση, ενώ στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος του βιβλίου μάλλον ο πρωταγωνιστής κάνει κύκλους επαναλαμβάνοντας τα ίδια και τα ίδια. Οι λίγες σκηνές δράσης προς το τέλος δεν είναι πολύ καλογραμμένες, συχνά τα γεγονότα δεν περιγράφονται με λεπτομέρεια την ώρα που συμβαίνουν αλλά με έμμεση αφήγηση κατόπιν εορτής. Το δυνατό σημείο τέτοιων μυθιστορημάτων θα έπρεπε να είναι η ατμόσφαιρα και το σασπένς, αλλά Ο κήπος των επίγειων απολαύσεων μάλλον απέτυχε.
Έτσι κι αλλιώς η θεματολογία αυτών των βιβλίων είναι τραβηγμένη από τα μαλλιά, αλλά τα παραπάνω στοιχεία κάναν το συγκεκριμένο μάλλον βαρετό και τονίζαν ακόμα περισσότερο την έλλειψη σοβαρότητας στην πλοκή και τους χαρακτήρες. Δεν βάζω ένα αστέρι γιατί το τελείωσα παρόλο που πολλές φορές ήμουν στο τσακ να το παρατήσω. Ίσως να φταίω εγώ, αλλά δεν νομίζω...

He vivido muy distintas sensaciones con este libro. La mayoría de las páginas, dedicadas a la investigación del protagonista, me parecieron bastante tediosas, a pesar de que cada capítulo, y participación de un nuevo secundario, sucediera en muy pocas páginas y a la carrera, al punto de que bien podrían parecer un resumen de otros que, quizá en un primer borrador, fueran más largos. Y luego, en esos escasos pasajes que describen lo ocurrido en "el pasado", la novela despertaba mucho mayor interés en mí. Esos sí que me atrayeron, pero son tan pocos frente a los del tiempo presente...
Abreviando, en conjunto no me ha terminado de gustar. La premisa es buena, desde luego, pero el resultado no ha llegado a lo que esperaba. Una lástima.

Un libro muy interesante que nos sumerge en la España mas oculta mas profunda, de la mano del Periodista Anibal Navarro, donde nos descubre hechos desconocidos de nuestra tierra y del Maestro El Bosco,.
Esta novela de intriga con brumas de misterios nos tiene en total vilo por cada capitulo en la que se va desarrollando, Navarro y sus amigos, investigando la muerte de un locutor argentino llamado Galvan 30 años atras entran en las entrañas de lo desconocido, arriesgado la vida para ello. Os recomiendo que lo lean es muy interesante e intrigante.

Soy un gran fan de Iker y de verdad que después de leer seis libros suyos sobre sus trabajos de campo e investigacion esta novela me sorprendido muchisimo,simplemente comentar que la pienso volver ha leer.

Se me ha hecho muy pesado. Vale que hablemos del Bosco y sus pinturas, así como de Felipe II, pero... bueno no es lo mío. Me ha resultado aburrido y estaba deseando terminarlo

Estupenda obra por parte de nuestro querido "piloto" de la nave del misterio. Nos mete de lleno en el oscuro mundo de Hyeronimus Van Acken (El Bosco) y crea una tremenda trama de misterio alrededor de sus obras, hilandola de forma perfecta con historias sobre la agonía de Felipe II o los enfrentamientos entre la Iglesia católica y los que consideraban herejes. Lectura muy recomendada, sobretodo si, como en mi caso en particular, eres un gran admirador de Íker Jiménez como periodista y locutor, a parte, claro está, de si alguna vez has sentido tremenda fascinación por cuadros que reflejen mundos tan oscuros como los de El Bosco.

Novela que mezcla la historia, el misterio, el suspense y algunos elementos que llegan a dar escalofríos, consiguiendo un libro que me encanta que esté en mi estantería.
