Eminent Love

Rate this book
Life doesn’t always start with once upon a time.
Love doesn’t always end with happily ever after.

After spending five years with the love of my life, I did nothing to stop her from walking away. She had her reasons to leave. I had my reasons to stay. But a year later, the realization of loss hits me, and I’ll stop at nothing to fix it. I leave everything behind to drive across the country to win her back, and I refuse to accept anything other than fulfilling old promises.

But the only certainty in life is: nothing is as expected.

The most valuable lessons don’t often revolve around a fairytale ending—frequently, they come from hurt and healing. They come from the kind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul, and your life. And every once in a while, you find the greatest gifts in the packages you never expected to open.

Leddy Harper

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

3.5 ★'s

There's this list floating around for the Top 10 Emotional books and this was on it and that's why I read it. I just have to realize that although I do love emotional books, I really love angsty books and sometimes emotional does not equal angsty! (IMO)

And there's this weird thing about emotional books, at least the ones I've read, that one of the MC's has a weird affliction or a disease and that does not make me a happy camper! Some of that stuff just isn't happy reading unless you're wanting a really good cry!

Now let's talk about the blurb...I've changed my ways and have started reading them. This was the second big clue that something was going to go down:

"Life doesn’t always start with once upon a time.
Love doesn’t always end with happily ever after."

Unfortunately, that didn't stop me. And neither did this:

"The most valuable lessons don’t often revolve around a fairytale ending—frequently, they come from hurt and healing."

But this had me saying..."whoa nelly...WTH?":

"And every once in a while, you find the greatest gifts in the packages you never expected to open."

So I was biased going in. I knew something emotional was going to happen, that there might not be a HEA, there was going to be a whole lotta hurting and healing and a definite unexpected package.

Well, let's get down to it....we get to know Creed. and I mean we really get to know him. For almost eighty percent of the book, the story is told in two parts: the present - Creed's POV, basically in narrative form that went on....and on....zzzzz...and the past - where thank goodness we get some dialog and get a retelling of all the important parts of Creed's and Layne's story. That was the good part!

description

They were really sweet together even though there is insta-love. I'm not sure I really bought how much Creed was obsessed with her....it just seemed a little weird and creepy.

Unfortunately, I didn't feel like we got to know Layne...more like we got to know the things that happened to her. There is a chapter from her POV later on but it is heart wrenching! :(

Creed and Layne are together for several years, going through college and Creed in law school and when they both finally graduate, Layne gets a job offer in California (they live in North Carolina). Creed is blown away that Layne wants to go and that she wants him to go with her. He is sooo angry that he takes off and she leaves and they don't speak for a whole year. He comes out of his anger-coma and decides he has to see her right away and decides to DRIVE across country instead of flying. (yea, I didn't really get that either).

And well, we now come to the big, huge drama ~sigh~ and you definitely see it coming. However...that epilogue, I just don't know how I feel about that! But I think most people will be happy with the way things turn out...just make sure you bring your tissues!

I’ve read two Leddy Harper books. Correct, I read one and tried to read another. One was a hit and the other was a let-down. Because I love My Biggest Mistake so much I REALLY wanted to give another Leddy Harper book ago.

I understand why everyone loved Eminent Love so much. I understand that it’s a beautiful story. I actually enjoyed the angst. My issue was the way it was written. I didn’t agree with the flow and that really hinder my reading experience.

The first 50% of the book was a five star read to me

When I pick up a Leddy Harper book I’m expecting angst and I got it. I love a second chance novel and I love that this one was written in total male POV. Creed made a mistake, he let the love of his life go and he’s ready to go back and proclaim his love again.

I LOVE that storyline. There’s nothing sexier than the Hero chasing after the Heroine.

The book goes back and forth (more back, than present) and I was really okay with that. I wanted to read how The hero and heroine get together. I wanted to read the obstacles they over-came and all the drama they went through.

We even find out why they broke up really early on the book and I REALLY enjoyed that.

What I didn’t enjoy was all the filler. I found the present day chapters all filler chapters. It came to the point where I just kind of glossed over them.

I didn’t need to read about Creed meeting random strangers and how he thought about that and how it related to his relationship.

I didn’t need to read about Creed calling his co-worker letting them know he would be absent for a while. All of that was blah blah blah to me.

Because of this 51% - 69% of the book was a 2 star for me. It was boring and pointless

Then I kind of realized where the story was going and so I wasn’t surprised by the second half of the book.

Then we get to the GOOD stuff. I enjoyed the 70% - 80% mark because the book shifted and I felt like this was the drama and angst I was looking for

After that, I got kind of tired of the story and I was kind of exhausted.

So, I think the idea of the book was great. I really really really enjoyed the first half and I liked where it was going, but when the parts started to drag and I got kind of tired then everything fell flat to me.

I'm going to be 100% honest and say that in my eyes, this wasn't flawless. I did have a few problems with it that I'll discuss in my full review BUT. Yes, a big ol but (hehe) the way Leddy can make you feel, and how much that last chapter touched me is insane. THIS is what Leddy does, what she excels at. Shitballs man, I don't even know. 4.5 Stars.

I hate being critical, it is just not me, I try to see the best in everything but sometimes you get invested in a story and when you are blindsided you are like WTF. This book gave me one of them moments and not in a good way.

It was hard to get into this book at first, it was slow going, but once it found it's legs I became invested. Told from Creed's POV you are treated to alternating chapters in Then and Now. I loved Creed and Layne as a couple, they have that bone deep, soul mates kinda love, a love that everyone wants to feel once in their lives. They were devoted to each other, the forever kind, they have mountains to climb, but they climb them together until they don't.

Fast forward a year and Creed realises he cannot live without her anymore and so travels for 5 days by car to get his woman back. It doesn't end well. This I do not have a problem with, in fact I saw it coming a mile away, I had prepared myself.

What I didn't prepare myself for was the Epilogue. Normally an epilogue gives you the closure you want and need, it makes you happy. This epilogue royally pissed me off. I mean to the point I threw my kindle and said IT NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I talked to my husband about it, I spoke to my book friends and they agreed. I thought it was just me. But it is my opinion and mine alone. But it didn't sit well at all. It actually made me feel sick.

So these are my thoughts, I won't post spoilers, I'm not that person, but as I said above, these are my opinions and mine alone. What didn't work for me, may work for you.

5 heart wrenching, ugly cry inducing stars.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. This book. I may never read another by the author because she ripped my heart out and sent it through the shredder, I'm kidding, of course. But, it was that intense. Once I started this story, I literally didn't put it down. The love story of Creed and Layne was told almost exclusively from Creed's POV, which can sometimes be a hard sell. That is, a female author writing a male POV, but not in this instance, she nailed it, in the most heart wrenching way.

I don't want to give spoilers... but the long and the short of it is, that they were "heart mates." The "Yen and the Yang". Together for 5 years while they battled through college and "things". The readers were treated to some sexy times too, not too over the top or raunchy. Then Creed and Layne graduated and just when we thought everything was going to be set, she accepts a job and moves across the country... what the what?!?! *Insert angst here* For a year they are separated until he decides he can't live without her and decides he is going to drive across the country to fight for her... which is how the majority of the story is told. With each chapter being divided between 'the Now' and 'the Then'.

There were several poignant passages in this book. I wasn't kidding when I said that it brought me to the ugly cry stage. In closing, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from relatively early on.

"Love is infinite, Creed. There are no limitations, no boundaries, no expiration dates. Love never goes bad, it's the people who do."

I just know that this book will stay with me for a long while. Well done Leddy Harper, well done.

DNF at 51%

It's likely just a timing thing with me but this book really couldn't keep my interest. Leddy Harper is the queen of "the one that got away" tropes so this book blurb really piqued my interest. But it seems 75% of it is in the "then" and nothing is happening in the "now" part either. I just feel like it's going too slow...

I'm not giving up on this author. I've loved her books in the past and look forward to the next.

This was a love story like nothing I have read before. Right from the first chapter I was so drawn into what Creed was feeling. He is a man who may have a successful career but his life is filled with regret. One year ago the woman he loved walked out of his life and he didn't stop her. He had a choice to make and he chose wrong. It has taken him 12 months to realise that his life only has full meaning if it is shared with someone you love.

This story has alternating chapters written in the 'now' and we also get the full back story to see how they got to where they are present day. Layne met Creed when she was 18 years old. Layne was sick for most of her teenage years and so she has very little experience with boys and was surprised at how quickly she felt so much for him. This wasn't one sided as Creed knew when he met Layne that she was going to be the girl who changed his life.

'I wanted to spend every day with her. Ridiculous, considering I'd met her less than twelve hours ago, but I couldn't shake the conviction that her fixture in my life wouldn't be temporary.'

I just love first time love stories and this one was so sweet. It moved along at a gentle pace as these two slowly fell for each other and I fell with them. For the first time in her life Layne is filled with so much hope and happiness. A lot of that is because of Creed and she feels like she in control of her future now. However, the five years they are together are not always hearts and rainbows. In fact, their love for each other is tested in such a huge way that some other people wouldn't be able to cope with.

As they emerge from students into a beginning a career, Layne gets an amazing offer but is shocked at Creed's reaction to her happy news. There have been moments in her life where choices have been taken away from her and she is not going to let anyone hold her back anymore, even it means walking away.

What Creed discovers, when he finally grows some balls and goes after Layne, is just heart breaking. However, the eminent love between them is still there and it is just beautiful.
Creed and Layne's fairy tale love story does have a happy ever after but it may not be what you were expecting. It definitely caught me out but it was just perfect.

'Because eminent love has no bounds. It's infinite.'

INFINITE "HEALING EVER AFTER" STARS!!!

“… Give people you have known a fresh set of eyes, as we all learn & grow from our experiences & mistakes…” -Diem Brown

Oh.My.God this book! I couldn't even form any coherent thoughts after I finished reading it several hours ago up until now because it was just too much. The emotion was just so damn heavy my heart was wrenched and I am a mess! I just couldn't believe it! I wasn't prepared at all. Sure I heard and read posts on it being a tear jerker, someone's crying too much..etc..etc... But couldn't you just put a warning that screams! DANGER!!!NEEDS A LOT OF DAMN TISSUES, A STRONG HEART AND WATER TO PREVENT YOURSELF FROM CHOKING UP ON YOUR OWN SOB???

True! Because this book needs you to prepare more than what I enumerated. I admit I am an avid Leddy Harper fan so I know you'll definitely say I'm a little biased, but NO! Eminent Love shows how the author became better and better in her writing ability. It's more than the skill but the passion she has that clearly showed in her writing. The emotion and the pull she put in her words is so strong you could not put the book down. I was literally hooked, I devoured and savoured every lines that I even asked her a playlist I could go along while I was reading. And the playlist???Just a mere background because once you get your hands in it, you'll be lost in the story. That's how beautiful Eminent Love is.

I don't think I need to elaborate things to you with regards to Layne and Creed's story. The blurb will give you something to work on to. There's no amount of spoiler will prepare yourself for what awaits you. What's an added bonus to it is that, it was based on a true story so think about how this book will change your perception of life and love in it's entirety. What I can give you instead is how I enjoyed reading the book from beginning until the end even with puffy eyes and jumbled mess bed due to the tissues I used in my entire journey with them. Lane and Creed's love will forever be etched in my mind and heart. I love their story.I love how it was written flawlessly with a steady pace. The rollercoaster of emotions I went through is just something I don't think I'll recover fast enough. It's just too Beautiful and if I could rate it more that 5 stars I would gladly do it without second thoughts. At the end of the book, indeed...

Eminent love never dies.
Not every happily ever after looks the same. Nor is it how you’d imagine it being. But sometimes, it’s not about the fairytale ending. It’s about the healing . The kind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul , and your life.

And oh Ms.Leddy Harper,
Even through loss, even through pain and heartache, happiness and love is still possible.
Yeah, I captured that.

And that ending? I could not ask any more better ending than that! You did a great job!

Highly recommended!

Leddy Harper, you've done it again! Given us an emotionally beautiful story, which captured my heart, thoughts and emotions—and when I was done, left me a blubbering mess. I honestly thought I had the story all figured out in my head, but the closer I got to the end, the more I knew I WAY WRONG!!

Creed just wanted to go to college and do what he was supposed to, to be able to succeed. His plans never included Layne—Drea's sister—but he was blindsided by her, and by the emotions she brought with her. The first time he met her, she had him enthralled. The rest, they say, was history.

Layne just wanted normal, yet life decided to complicate things for her…especially when Creed came into it. Their first date was sweet, easy and fun and I knew from there, Layne and Creed would have my heart. May I add that I loved the meaning of Drea and Layne's names? I actually told my hubby about it. He laughed and thought it was a cool idea!

I'm not going to give you more about this emotionally heart-wrenching story but heed this warning: have Kleenex with you because you will definitely need it! Have an open heart and be ready to laugh, smile, cry and hate all at the same time. My heart is still trying to recoup from the emotional roller coaster this story put me through. And that ending... My goodness, Ms. Harper, you just had to, didn't you??? ~ Kara, 5 stars

Ohhh God! I can't feel my eyes after this one. After every read like this one, I swear to never read another but here I am again! This book was special because it is based on a true story, and what a story...ohhh God!

"I'm a warrior.Not a hero.
The real hero of my story is Creed.
He'd shown me more love than most experience in a lifetime."

Why for me this was just a 2 star read because I could tell what was going to happen at the end from the beginning. It was pretty obvious what the author was trying to do from the start and I didn't like it.

This book was AMAZING! I have taken months to write this review, so glad I had time because it's been very hard to find the words.

Leddy has surpassed all my expectations with this one, she's set the bar super high for her next one!

Eminent Love was beautiful in every which way, the story was stunning and flowed perfectly. I would not change a thing.

I found I actually loved the secondary characters which is not the norm for me, I even loved her parents which are not a huge part of the story.

I'm trying really hard here to give nothing away but give you something to go on, but it's very hard!! Put it this way, I've been DYING to tell people to read this book for over 3 months, it's killing me that I have no one to talk to about Layne & Creed (who is mine by the way!!!).

This book will put you through the wringer, it's got some absolutely amazing highs and some gut wrenching lows. I kept my tears in until the very end and then I ugly cried in the middle of my living room in front of my husband a 3 kids who all thought I was crazy!

The ending was not what I expected, but it was also perfect and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

A new book, a new challenge, a new way to dream. It is always good to meet new authors, because each of them can enrich my mind and make me dream.
"Eminent Love" by Leddy Harper is a beautiful love story, inspired by a true story and so reading was so much more intense. This book explores the love story of Creed and Layne. This story is narrated by Creed and His speech alternate between Then and Now.
When Creed meets Layne something in him changes, something he never had felt before. One thing is for sure he don’t want to lose her, he wanted to chase happily ever after with her. All goes well until one day they had a huge fight and something happens.
Why do we have wrong attitudes when we are angry? Why is it that we only realize that we were wrong when we lose the person we love?
Love at first sight exists, I know pretty well what I’m talking about because I went through it and continue with the same love at almost 18 years and this book speaks of this. When we look at the right person in the eyes we just know it will be our other half, the one that will make us happy.
Leddy Harper has a simple speech and with so much attention to detail and the meaning behind each word, the way she tells this story is breathtaking and heartfelt. Through her speech we can dream and feel what is going on in the hearts of the characters at that exact moment.
"Eminent Love" portrays forgiveness, love, struggle, but focuses on grief and sorrow as well. In life nothing is guaranteed and so we must live intensely each day as if it were the last one without ever looking back.
When we think that everything will be okay, something happens that will shake the whole plot. I can guarantee that while reading I sent a few messages to my dear Leddy Harper because I was so angry with her, but I cannot tell you why. I recommend “Eminent Love” to all romantics around the world but I leave you with a warning:
This book is not suitable for extremely sensitive people because the level of feeling and emotion of this work is very, very, very high. On second thought, I think you all should read, read to be able to see what life really is.
Leddy you know that I love you so you are forgiven, but even so, to redeem yourself go write more books for me to read and dream.

Eminent Love was a 5 star read for me! I have never read a love story that had me in shambles.
This book is written with a Now and Then type writing. The then is how they met and grew to love each other. The now is their present life together. I won't say much more on their story because I want you to feel it yourself. And trust me you will feel every emotion!!!

I fell in love with Creed!!! He was an amazing man. He wanted nothing more than to love Layne for the rest of his life. That was his sole intention. That is until he got the news of Layne having a job offer in California. He wanted to go but he knew he would be throwing everything he worked so hard for. So he let her go. Worst mistake of his life. Now he comes to terms that he just can't be without her. But is it too late? Read and find out!!!
Layne wasn't your ordinary girl. She loved life but one thing kept her from living the life she wanted at times. When she met Creed she knew he was the one. He was it for her. Loving him was easy. What wasn't so easy was knowing she might not be here forever. She found herself moving to California for a new job. Creed had his reasons for staying behind.
Ok I won't give anymore away!!!
Read this book!!!!!

Here is an excerpt from the book. This one got me :

She kissed me, and suddenly, everything became normal again. My nerves waned and calmness settled over me. That’s what Layne did to me. She settled me. She righted my world, even when I had no idea it was off balance. It was like she just got me. She could read me better than anyone else, and she understood every expression I gave her. Even in my silence, it was as if my heart could speak directly to her.

4 1/2 Emotional stars

WOW! This book had me all in my feels from beginning to end. It goes back & forth between present & past to show the relationship between Creed & Layne. Dre is a huge part of the book as she's Layne's sister & Creed's friend. There's also a plethora of amazing secondary characters that I love.

Layne has been sick for most of her life. We travel through time from past & now to learn about her journey & how Creed & Layne's love progressed. When Creed finds himself missing her after a year, he packs up & goes to find her. What he finds no one was expecting.

This book was hard to read at parts because of the emotion. My heart bled for all of them. There were things I didn't see coming & things I hoped would never come. Although it's not your expected HEA, there is a HEA that made my heart smile! I loved it & highly recommend it if you like emotional reads.

My poor heart took a beating reading this book. Layne you beautiful, strong woman. I can't deal with life right now. I was either smiling at how romantic Creed was or crying for Layne. I'm heartbroken but content. If that makes sense. I did find myself skimming just a tad, but it's a beautiful heart felt story and all I cared about was the end game because I wasn't sure how this would go. I'm glad I kept reading and didn't let that deter me. Great book!

Main characters: Layne, Andrea, Colin, and Creed
Colin and Creed were roommates. Layne and Andrea were sisters. All were in college. Creed was studying to become a lawyer. Layne was studying to become a graphic designer. Andrea and Colin were dating. Andrea invited Layne on her date with Colin and begged Creed to join in. It was an insta connection with a slow burning development. The connection was instant but Layne and Creed took their time learning, exploring, and growing.
Leddy depicted the story with a here and then layout told in Creed's POV. Each new chapter developed the characters one memory at a time. Within the process of reflection Creed spent his time trying to figure out what he did wrong and how he could change the past. Creed made a life changing decision that he hoped to rectify. The dialogue was real and heartfelt.

Normally I cringe at the thought of reading an insta love story. Leddy made it her own, owning the emotions and pulling me in like a puppet on her strings. Leddy controlled the connection with a heavy emotional secret. That secret set the course for a very rewarding journey for Layne. What sold it was even though the concept signified insta love it was still a slow progression of building love.
This story captured the essence of Leddy. Each story I read I gain a better understanding of the type of person Leddy is. Since I have not met her this is the next best thing. I felt connected to the characters as if they were friends of mine.
I enjoyed the journey of exploring Creed and Layne's growth as a couple and individuals. Each step was a successful step showing growth for confidence, trust, and comfort.
Leddy transitioned the story fluidly. I was curious and intrigued. The was not predictable. At times I picked up hints and clues that led me to believe the story or characters might head in one particular direction.

Leddy had me falling in love with these characters with the way she connected them using emotional words of hope and an infinity of love. Leddy addressed both characters perspectives with the emotional connection. This story will resonate with you. If nothing else it will make you cry and make you think. It might encourage you to put your life in order and help you gain perspective on what's important. Many emotions filtered through me, but the most profound emotion was courage. The courage to keep fighting.
These characters with make a profound statement on your soul. It will give you the hope to reach for your chance at finding a love like theirs.
The story became a road trip of reflection and self discovery. An inner look back at loving memories that brought Creed to this point in his life. Along the way we got a catalog of key moments that stood out along the way, sealing the fated love.

Favorites used quotes from the story:
We don't know what the future will bring.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Layne is fighting the toughest battle of her life.
Happiness and love is still possible.

"Sometimes, it's not about the fairytale ending. It's about the healing. The mind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul, and your life."

That quote is the perfect way to describe Leddy Harper's book Eminent Love. A book that will capture your attention, pull on your heartstrings, and have you hoping that the ending for Creed and Layne is a happily ever after. The personal growth of both Creed and Layne as individuals is one that is so real you can feel it burst from the page but what is even more intense about their story is their growth together as a couple despite the bumps in the road that try to get in their way.

Creed tells the story of how he met and feel madly in love with Layne, despite the fact that he wasn't looking for a relationship nor did he want one because he was so focused on his classes to get accepted in Duke Law. Layne came into his life almost by accident, stayed by chance and fell in love with him by choice. A gift that Creed took for granted and almost lost entirely.

"Love, however, withstands the test of time."

Layne overcame an obstacle no woman ever wants to face at such a young age, ovarian cancer, and it changed her outlook on life and what she yearned for in her future. Tomorrow was never guaranteed and Layne made sure to make the most of every moment. Falling in love with Creed wasn't something she planned but something she did with all of her heart and soul until following her dreams seemed to cause a rift in their relationship.

Eminent Love by Leddy Harper is a story of lost love told by the male POV. Loss, heartbreak and choices are at the heart of Eminent Love beautiful tale of true love. A truly refreshing change in storytelling for me. Flipping from present day to 6 years in the past to tell the story of Creed & Layne relationship.

Creed is so focused on school and his plan in life when asked to take out his roommates sister to the movies he want to say no and focus on his studies but his gut tell him to take a chance. Picking Layne up he's stunned by her appearance and feels an instant attraction knowing he's going to break all the rules he's set for himself. Layne is shy and self conscious of her appearance but willing to take the time to get to know Creed and agreeing to a second date.

I won't tell you anything else about the story as you must read it! This book gutted me. I was sobbing like a small child and needed to take breaks because I couldn't see my kindle through the tears. This was my first novel I've read by Leddy Harper. She has a way to leading you to think one thing and it's completely opposite, which I love when that happens! Her writing is beyond my expectations and having this story told from the male point of view I think made it that much more emotional and original. Hands down a top pick for best of 2016! 5 Stars for Eminent Love by Leddy Harper

This book is an ugly cry that I was not expecting at all, there is a subject matter that some may find too much for them and I hate not saying what it is as it will majorly spoil the story. I have followed this authors work from her first book and for me she just gets better and better. The air of mystery I have come to expect really sneaked up behind me with this one even after I had dismissed the idea from my mind while reading.

This story is told from Creed’s POV and each chapter is split between NOW and THEN as we learn of the devastation Creed is feeling at letting the love of his life walk away in the NOW and witness the joy of his memories of their relationship as it developed with Layne in the THEN. We follow Creed in his cross country drive to chase Layne to California and as he deals with the emotions of hoping he hasn’t lost her for good.

I loved these characters and I was really rooting for them along the way. I have to admit initially this was a little slow off the mark for me and for the most part was going to be a four star read until my heart was ripped out by the author.

The last few chapters of this book were read through tears and with a lump in my throat as I hurt for poor Creed and Layne. This is a difficult book to review without giving away the plot but I will say it is a real rollercoaster of emotions.

I know the epilogue isn’t going to be to everyone’s taste but I loved it, I think it made perfect sense and ended Creed’s story perfectly.

Eminent Love by Leddy Harper.

I absolutely adored this book, it melted my heart, broke my heart and left a scar on my heart. This book will make you laugh, cry and give you faith, it will leave you numb in places and just emotionally spent but this book must be read, It is so beautifully written, its overfilled with raw emotion, heartbreak and hope.

Layla and Creed’s story is the example of true, unconditional love, it’s about living life to the fullest, following your dreams and learning to dance in the rain. It’s about the strength deep inside your soul that keeps you fighting, it’s about loving the people around you as hard as you possibly can and finding the Yen to your Yang.

Leddy Harper has a way of pulling you right into the pages of this book, you feel every single word she writes, and you become a part of the characters and just never want to leave her magical mind. It took a couple of days to write this review as I am still so overwhelmed by what this book stands for and how it made me feel, I don’t want to put too much about the actually story behind these two heart mates as their story needs to be felt, not relayed.

An absolute must read that will leave you needing to pull a Joey from friends and put the book in the freezer for the times you are done adulting for a while and need to take a breather.

Eminent Love. I don't even know where to begin or how to start. All I know is that my mind is filled with a cluster of feelings and emotions. Here we experience a rollercoaster of events and just the unbelievable ride love holds for everyone who goes through it.

Creed and Layne. Both who have battled their own wars and attempted to live their lives to its fullest. Creed, who is both determined and capable of fulfilling a long life dream. And Layne, who has been through more than anyone else should ever go through. Yet, when they finally get together, fireworks. They are able to enjoy what life has to offer them as one.

Love is a funny thing. It can make you feel so full and complete. Feeling every kind of happiness. But then it has its painful moments where it seems like you just can't go on. This is exactly what Eminent Love is all about. Experiencing love and all its heartache and glory. About knowing that love is expressed in different ways. That there is always life after losing that one thing that meant the world to you.

I've been thinking about this review for over a week since I finished the book. The message I sent to Leddy Harper when I finished this story - "I hate you. Like a whole, whole lot... (spoiler included so censored)." I enjoyed this story and the characters, both primary and secondary characters. The story was unpredictable in parts, which I really appreciated as a reader. I feared being right about some things, and some of my fears came true. Sorry, no spoilers!

If you're going to read Eminent Love - and I HIGHLY suggest you do - you are probably going to need some kleenex and some of your favorite things to make you feel better and help relieve your book hangover. I am over a week from finishing the book, and I'm still feeling a little book hungover and not ready to start another book yet.

5 STAR READ!!

This has to be one of the most emotional books I've read, and I absolutely loved it. To have a love so strong for someone that even a year later you know you screwed up, is unimaginable. I stayed up until 11:30 at night finishing this book and by the end, it had me in tears. The relationship that Creed and Laney have is something that I want in real life. It wasn't an insta-love and that is one thing I loved about this book. I loved the flashbacks from then and now because it gave me insight on how their relationship started out and what led them to the end. Normally in a book like this, I would prefer having a dual POV, but Leddy absolutely nailed it. When I got to the end, I was in tears, but was wanting more of the story. What an amazing read, and I highly recommend this! Well done, Leddy!

No words can express my feelings for this book. I've heard other authors say " this will cause a book hangover". Well I have yet to read one that has caused this until now. There were so many passages I highlighted because it was so well written. You can tell that this story meant something to this author because it showed in her writing. The way Creed talked about his love for Layne is how I feel towards my husband. The way Layne talked about the meaning of life. It just makes you stop and realize nothing is promised. Life is short. So to say it was a great book would be doing it an injustice. This book was MORE. That is the only way I can put in into words. Leddy, you have an amazing talent and you have found a true follower.
