I mostly scanned this one. It's based upon the old TV series, Land of the Giants, which I still have a soft spot for. I read the first two novels in the series, which were written by Murray Leinster. The first one was pretty decent. The second one, called "The Hot Spot," was not that good. The third one was written by Leinster too, but I don't have a copy of that. This current book, "Flight of Fear" is later in the series, but doesn't contain a number that I can find. It wasn't written by Leinster but by someone named Carl Henry Rathjen. I enjoyed it for the memories it brought back of the old show, but it was not very compelling as a story in and of itself. At least it didn't really engage me and, as I said, I mostly scanned it. It also should probably be placed in the young adult category, and that is the older young adult category, which is quite a bit different from most modern young adult novels.
I believe (since this copy didn't come with a book jacket) that this book was a by-product of an old TV show. I couldn't get into it because I was positive I knew what would happen and that took all the fun out of it. In fact I would have been super frustrated until it did happen and if it didn't I would have just been annoyed, so it was best I gave up after chapter one!
