I 'm so happy to see Rin's friends support Rin but Rin told his friends about the koma sword n why he can't open it again. Now they team work trying to destroy the imperial king. Looks like yukio facing todo who looks so young because he ate karura ( bon's father familiar). I really hate those people for wanting Rin to death because he exposed his flame power when things getting worse when the imperial king appeared, other monks tried their best to kill it with fire. Shima's brothers so hot especially renzo too ♥️.

Something I can't seem to understand is how Rin's friends keep reacting towards him being the son of satan when he keeps saving them and being a genuinely nice person. I do understand why since they were both traumatized but Rin and Satan are not the same person, Rin didn't do anything-- didn't even know about what happened. So I really hope that it will change at some point in the manga.
this may have been my favorite volume so far!! i really like how the relationships developed between the characters more while still being really action-packed
Yes! I think I ship Shiemi and Rin ❤️ Also, I think Yukio likes Shiemi too 😁😛 My favourites are still the Shima brothers, but Suguro is kind of cool at the moment ❤️

There wasn’t filler in this volume exactly but it still felt like not very much happened in terms of the plot moving forward. Lots is going on but the characters spend so long freaking out to each other that it just becomes pages and pages of dialogue with nothing really happening.
Rin Okumura is the illegitimate son of Satan, but he and his twin brother, Yukio, have been raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist. Once he discovers the truth, Rin swears to defeat Satan by entering the famous True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. The only trouble is, he has to keep his demon heritage a secret or he stands a good chance of being destroyed by the very people he wants to join.
The story arc with the Impure King continues... D:
I really enjoyed this volume. It seems that Kazue Kato is really getting into the stride of telling the story now, and I'm no longer as confused by the minor characters as I was before.
This volume really picked up the pace as the story arc races towards its conclusion. Apparently the arc was supposed to end in this volume, but it's continuing on in volume eight. (Cliffhanger, noooooo...) I don't really mind, though - I'm enjoying the arc with the Impure King (as I keep saying, haha)!
I liked that Kuro was in a little picture at the end of each chapter as the poor thing didn't feature at all in the main story. It made me smile every time. As far as cute 'animal' sidekicks go, Kuro's brilliant.
Family, friendship and trust are important in this volume, now more so than ever. I'm looking forward to seeing how these themes develop, especially the theme of family due to the relationship between Rin and Satan.
Looking forward to the next volume! :)
I recommend this to anyone who likes action-packed, paranormal manga. :(
Oh, Blue Exorcist. Stop making me feel things about bald monks with heroic complexes and overwhelming supernatural burdens! Also, priests that are super hot and super unorthodox, i.e. Fujimoto-san and his ever-present cigarette. This volume of Ao No Exorcist is full of plot stuff, character development, friendship, odd demon-fueled family drama, and Mephisto being Mephisto and putting everyone else to shame in terms of dramatic entrances. As Rin confronts his own personal demons, actual demons are coming towards the Impure King with less than pure intentions...
April 2014: 4.5 Stars (Shown as 4) First off, I just want to point out that the artwork in this volume is phenomenal. I can only imagine how much time and effort went into drawing the Impure King's details, and the backgrounds never look half-hearted. The PLOT ITSELF is so detailed and well thought-out. Clearly, the author spent a very long time mapping out the chapters of this story arc. This volume feels really filling, overall. A lot of knots are tied, and exposition has been replaced by action. At last! The volume I've been waiting for!
Saburota Todo and Mamushi Hojo have stolen the Left and Right Eyes of the Impure King and disappeared, while Rin finds himself incarcerated, in solitary confinement! Rin has received a letter from Tatsuma Suguro explaining how he met Father Fujimoto and how Fujimoto ended up with the Koma sword. The sword contains a fire demon, Karura, summoned by a monk named Fukaku who defeated the Impure King with it. Suguro takes the sword and gives it to Fujimoto, despite the priest telling him he is going to kill a child with it. But Suguro knows better.
Todo reveals to Mamushi the terrible secret of Myodha, that beneath Goma Hall lies the body of the Impure King. If they return his eyes to him, he shall live once more, a most terrible thought indeed! Ossama catches up with Todo and Mamushi, and tries to prevent them from reviving the Impure King, but he is too late, only to learn that Todo has a different agenda!
Meanwhile, back at the jail, Yukio doesn’t want to give Rin the sword to use, not knowing if his flame will even work against the Impure King, much less defeat him. Yukio is concerned that if he uses his flame, Rin will be put to death, but Shura reminds him they have much bigger problems – such as the Impure King. Yukio reluctantly agrees but there is an unexpected wrinkle in the plan. When Ossama returns, with Mamushi, and tells the story of what has happened, the ex-wires are torn about what to do. They decide to break Rin out of his confinement so he can fight the Impure King, but thanks to the machinations of Mephisto, that is easier said than done.
Another fast-paced volume of Blue Exorcist. It’s getting easier to tell the villains from the heroes, although sometimes the heroes aren’t entirely sure themselves and are torn in their loyalties. Mephisto is something of an enigma. Although I am unsure what his agenda is, and while his methods tend to be unorthodox, deep inside, I believe everything he does is for a good reason. Amaimon, not so much. I like seeing Yukio’s affection toward his brother, which he sometimes hides. It’s still hard to believe they’re twins, but they are. I have to wonder if Yukio has powers that are unsuspected, maybe lying deep inside, that just haven’t evidenced yet. I feel sorry for Mamushi. She really thought she was doing the right thing, and was brutally used for her naïveté and for having faith in the wrong person.
I predict that Rin will make a great exorcist, although I’m not sure if he will get to face down his father in the way he hopes. I also predict that he and Shiemi will find out they are attracted to each other. Not sure where that will go.
The series is going strong, keep the volumes coming!
I swear everyone in this series needs a good sit down explanation on the importance of communication.
Shiemi *finally* got over herself and realized that hey, maybe she was being a bad friend to Rin and Yukio by only taking her own feelings into account. A bit delayed but at least she got there.
Still hate Shura's character design but I liked her better here. She's actually doing something, even if it's following orders she doesn't necessarily agree with (I liked seeing her little work around to get what she wanted done). I hope her past with Yukio is looked into more because she constantly has this borderline antagonistic attitude toward him and I want explanationsssss.
Oh, Bon. When the moment of realization hits ("Oh, I see") ;_; Still don't like how you acted toward your dad but at least you keep the same energy with everyone.
I don't like how all the female characters were essentially sidelined by the end of this volume though. Shura has her hands tied, Mamushi is probs dying, and Kamiki and Shiemi are stuck with watching over Bon's dad. I get Shiemi but Kamiki could have gone with Bon and Rin but hey, this is a shonen series and god forbid a female character see some action, right?
okay that was a fun volume. this one really set up for the next one which will most likely be the end of the Kyoto arc. we got a lot of backstory and explanation over what was going on and the reasoning behind a few things as well as insight into the villains motivation and plan. sadly a couple of favourite characters were put on the sideline and had minimal appearances through out the whole volume. it was fairly slow since about half he chapters were dedicated to flashbacks. on the other-hand the other two set up for the final fight against the arc villain and had some pretty cool scenes as well as set up for the final battle
an interesting volume in a fun series, it will be fun to see where the series heads after the arcs completion. definitely looking forward to continuing with manga.
