The third book in The Echo Platoon series by Marliss Melton. Jeremiah “Bullfrog” Winters and his buddy, Tristan, are on vacation on a cruise ship. Very soon Jeremiah discovers that Emma Albright is also on board with her daughter and sister. Emma was his professor years ago when he was attending college. He was attracted to her then but she was married. Now she is divorced. Emma doesn't want to fall into the relationship thing again but the forces around her keep putting Jeremiah in her path. Jeremiah has premonitions and senses that something bad is going to happen on the cruise. So when it does, Navy SEALs Jeremiah and Tristan are ready.
I have always enjoyed Ms. Melton's work and I was happy with this book too. The story moves fairly quick. First the romance, then the suspense. Another series I have no problem with recommending.

When one goes on a long overdue vacation the last thing they expect is their past to come slap them in the face. Which is what happens to both Jeremiah and Emma as they come face to face again after so many years neither has forgotten the other how could they when their passion was so powerful from the start. The author really gives you an action packed read full of thrills, a few chills and danger along with a budding romance that still has the same power it did from long ago. It is nice to see the coin flip and have an older women and a younger man it was charming as these two dance around each other both wanting the same things but only one wants forever.
Let’s start with the narration of Mr. Taylor he has such a deep sexy voice the listener is pulled in at once with the detail of the area around them and the feelings of Jeremiah feeling of things being a little off. You can feel the power of the narrator as Jeremiah’s eyes meet Emma’s for the first times in years. I found his female voices to be just as delightful as he males ones. He really puts a lot of emotion into his voice giving it so much power from the danger to the pain of each character. You can hear the excitement to the fear and the unknown as people take over their life. I did not hear any background noise or any places where the volume is lower or higher than any other place in the audio. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. Mr. Taylor paints a picture with his tones that you have no trouble seeing in your mind from the passion to them being taken. He gives you a wonderful clear, crisp delightful listen you will not be able to put down. I have not listen to any of his work it was a delight to find him as he brought me so much please giving me an audio I could not put down.
As Jeremiah and his seal buddy board the ship he gets and uneasy feeling as frames flash in his mind. Then he see her the women he can’t forget as she boards the ship, their eyes meet she looks away and then turns back. He looks for a sign that she remembers him what he gets are empty eyes of a women who doesn’t know him. He takes this pretty hard how could she forget all they meant to each other. It is a very touching scene when they come face to face again and she does a double take knowing just who is he is and wondering how in the world she is going to make it through this vacation with him so close and yet so far away. This is where the story takes off as they remember their past painting a picture of so much pain and loss. They each want some answers which are not easy to come by. Now they have another chance to right a wrong but it looks like they will have to work through issues and maybe even than they will lose out on the best love they could have had. At this point I am just going to say it was a very powerful touching romance where two have to learn to work together to get out of the danger they are in. The buildup of the romance was just as exciting as the danger they fall into as people kidnap them leaving everyone scared and afraid. Emma puts all her hope into one man from long ago hoping he can get them out of this mess. Love pulls them in but will the danger give them a life together if they make it out of it alive? The danger is very real as it gets down to following the rules or be killed. There were times here I thought one or all of them may die. Each character has to deal with issues of their own some might make the wrong choice and be lost to the world forever.
The author gives you wonderful supporting characters some are heroes in the making and others are just doing their jobs. Out of them all my heart really went out to the old couple as I know what pain they must have went through. A mother and son who lost their husband and he his father trying to put some sunshine back in their life only to find they may lose their life. Emma’s daughter is a strong wise little girl who will capture your heart. Jeremiah Seal buddy will keep you laughing as he and Emma’s sister plot to get this romance started again only to feel so guilty at the turn of events. They make a great team I hope they will make a return in this series.
This really is full of action where you find you are holding your breath waiting to find out how it all plays out hoping for the best but knowing that most likely isn’t going to happen. As the end comes near your heart breaks as Emma works out how she feels and then the ending comes which just leaves you smiling. This is really a wonderful read that pulls the reader in from the first page as the author gives you information that really hits you hard. 5 stars, 4 story and 5 narrator
Good, satisfyingly long romantic suspense
This audiobook can be classified as second chance contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and military romance. There is also a little bit of paranormal because Jeremiah sees visions of the future. We also get two romances for the price of one because we get the entire romance of a secondary pair of characters, Tristan and Juliet. There is a lot of travel and tons of danger for the characters. It is extremely well written, and it has expanded my horizons about the larger variety of romantic suspense that I enjoy now. I had no idea before I listened to this that I would actually like a book where drug cartel bad guys got so much screen time.
Navy SEAL Jeremiah goes along on a cruise to Mexico with his best friend and colleague Tristan. On the ship, Jeremiah sees the lost love of his life, Emma. They had had a brief nonphysical relationship when he was her college student and she had still been married. Divorcee Emma is on the cruise with her 8-yr old daughter Sammie and her hard-nosed sister Juliet, a private investigator. Tristan and Juliet hit it off while Jeremiah and Emma slowly rekindle their love. All the while, Jeremiah tries to avert the death and destruction that he saw in his paranormal visions, but danger catches up to them. Can they get safe again and acknowledge their love?
If the heroine had been more likeable, I would have given the story 5 stars instead of 4. Other readers might like her just fine, but Emma kept getting on my nerves. She is a divorced mom of Sammie, and has not dated since the divorce. She is an intelligent literature professor, but she is also annoyingly fearful of life. Emma became so disillusioned about love after her husband cheating on her that she thought that all love is an ephemeral scientific phenomenon that can last only two years. She is really hard-headed about this but thankfully not for the entire audiobook. Emma acts reasonably well when she is in danger, so she is likeable sometimes.
Jeremiah is an awesome guy. He is intelligent, loyal, talented, handsome, fit, and is ready to commit. I really like him, but sometimes his thoughts are a little dull. We don't hear enough of his romantic thoughts. His thoughts that we do hear are usually focused on protecting Emma and Sammie. I really liked that he is psychic and can see visions of the future; it gave the audiobook some extra spice.
There is plenty of great action and suspense. I commend Marliss Melton on her writing. It seems like she really did her research about how Navy SEALs operate. The action seemed very realistic.
I think that the narrator Armen Taylor did a superlative job. He was fantastic with the men's, women's, and a girl's voices. Plus, he was fantastic at different accents as well. His pacing, pronunciation, enunciation, and emotive talent were all fantastic!

Interesting plot. Jeremiah and Emma are a good couple. Action sequences were well thought out and described.

Emma Albright is on a cruise with her sister and daughter when she runs into someone from her past, Jermemiah Winters. Jermemiah and Emma had a strong connection when they knew each other before but Emma was married and asked Jeremiah to step back. He has never forgotten her, and now she is divorced and on the ship with him.
When Jeremiah boarded the ship he had flashes of gunfire and people dying. His Seal teammates know enough to trust Jeremiahs intuition, he has saved them many times. Jeremiah hopes he is wrong and it will be a relaxing cruise but he keeps having the flashes. When an excursion in port goes south Jeremiah becomes responsible for Emma, her sister, daughter and other cruise passengers lives. He has to hope his fellow Seals can find them before the situation gets any uglier.
This is the 3rd book in the Echo Platoon series but it would stand alone if you haven't read the first 2. It is well written, fast paced, full of danger and romance. I highly recommend this romantic suspense book, or any other book by Marliss. I have been reading her for years and she has never let me down.

Jeremiah “Bullfrog” Winters has premonitions his SEAL buddies listen to. When he sees murder and mayhem when boarding a vacation cruise liner with his colleague Tristan his antenna go up and he begins to search for how and when things might go bad. As Emma Albright, her daughter Sammy and Emma’s sister Juliet board the ship they run into someone from her past – Jeremiah. With a cruise to enjoy, ruins to see and a romance or two that might begin nobody wants chaos to intrude…but it does…and how it all is resolved makes a very entertaining story.
This was the first book I have read by Marliss Melton. It was engaging and entertaining and well worth the evening I spent reading it. It left me wanting to know about others on the SEAL team and whether or not Justin and Juliet will get together.

4.25 Stars. Most of this book deserves a 5 Star rating. This action-packed story is captivating with wonderful characters. It’s a “two for one” romance book, which is always a bonus. With that being said, I have a major issue when an author puts a child in the middle of a violent situation. Therefore, I just couldn’t give this book a 5 star rating.
Jeremiah is a big bad Navy SEAL with a poetic heart and believes in soul mates and classic literature. He met his soul mate while in college, only to be pushed away. Then five plus years later, fate brings Emma back into his life, as they find themselves both taking a cruise vacation. Emma’s walls are even taller, but Jeremiah isn’t going to lose his second chance at romance. I have to say no other book I have read selected such a disgusting location for the main couple to consummate their relationship. It was a hot sex scene, yet strange and certainly not very romantic, especially for such a tender soul like Jeremiah.
Jeremiah’s SEAL brother, Tristan, is vacationing with him. The fun-living Tristan finds himself very attractive to the very independent Juliet, whom is Emma’s younger sister. The plot sets-up anticipation for Tristan and Juliet’s love story in the next book in this engaging series.
What is suppose to be a carefree week at sea, turns into a nightmare for the passengers. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. It was fierce and riveting. I am sold on the sexy, strong, loyal, and brave men of ECHO Platoon.

This book was odd. Started off good then the main hero just gets weird with his "premonitions" that don't really end up helping him prevent anything anyway so what was the point? Some out of place sex scenes like the author knew she needed to put in a few encounters but wasn't sure where and the first, long sought after hook up between the two main characters is an incredibly unromantic quickie in a dirty bathroom. The second couple in the book had better chemistry and I liked Juliet until she pulled a TSTL (Too stupid to live) moment and got involved in a Seal raid.
But what bothered me the most was all the trauma inflicted on the 11 year old daughter of the heroine yet she lets it roll off her back like nothing ever happened? Most kids would be in counseling for years after all the dead bodies and violence she suffered in just a few days.
Had good potential but fell very short for me.

An engaging page turner that's more thriller than suspense!
The chance reunion of Emma and Jeremiah on board a cruise ship leaving out of New Orleans is "complicated" and fortuitous! The excursion from Cozumel (which is really a wonderful port) meets unexpected terror when the bus is hijacked and hostages are taken! Of course Emma, daughter Sammy and Navy Seal Jeremiah are being held for ransom (along with otthers)! Highly trained and with "Team" members in hot pursuit, Jeremiah is in the right place and time! Mission accomplished, as the good guys win, the cartel goes down and love blossoms.
Okay, it really was an engaging and high octane race to save the hostages! The storyline is interesting, most of the characters are heroic and the drug gang and cartel members are villaneous!

Friendly Fire (The Echo Platoon Series, Book 3), my fifth read from author Marliss Melton, the best so far! It seems like every book in this series I say is the "best so far", obviously that can't be however the series is so enjoyable, tightly woven & well-written. I'd received a free Audible copy of Take Cover (Echo Platoon #4.5) and read it & enjoyed it greatly and decided to read the series. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review." Armen Taylor's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll be reading more from this author and in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Jeremiah and Emma are meant to be. Although 5 years have passed, he still quotes poetry to her, and wants to convince her love is possible. She’s been heartbroken with the death of her parents and the betrayal by her ex husband.
The adventure begins when they’re all taken hostage on an excursion, and facing death makes Emma realize she shouldn’t waste whatever time she has.
I love all the characters, from little Sammy and Noah, to my favourites, Juliet, a strong, independent, smart woman, and Jeremiah, a bookworm and warrior. Emma and Tristan are great too, both with interesting careers.
Looking forward to more from Tristan and Juliet.

A good read
WOW what an intense, suspenseful, full of action love story. I could not put it down. Jeremiah lost the love of his life a long time ago. While vacationing, he runs into Emma, the love of his life who is vacationing with her daughter and sister. While on an excursion, the bus is over taken by bandits. WOW what an intense, suspenseful, full of action love story. I could not put it down. Jeremiah lost the love of his life a long time ago. While vacationing, he runs into Emma, the love of his life who is vacationing with her daughter and sister. While on an excursion, the bus is over taken by bandits. This was the third book in the series Echo Platoon. It had a slow beginning but then it picked up and was hard to put down.
Loved the characters, made brief reference to the other characters from previous books.

Not for me
Okay I see everybody else loves this book. I didn't I do not like the characters I could not stand the heroine. Wasn't too fond of her sister either. Best thing about the book was the hero's name Jeremiah codename bullfrog. I will not read any more of the series. For me to read books I actually like the characters. At least the main ones.

I really enjoyed reading this story. The chemistry between Jeremiah and Emma was great.

A holiday vacation turns terrifying when a group of tourist are taken captive by a drug dealer in Mexico. The hero is a wonderful man. The heroine keeps rejecting him too much for my taste. But lots of action, make this a page turner.

Enjoyable romantic suspense. I chose it because I was going on a vacation to the Riviera Maya area. I happened to go to Tulum at the same time as the cruise stopped there and I can believe how easy something like this could happen. First book I’ve read by this author and would read more.

In this book, Marliss Melton explores extra sensory perception and creates a thrilling story that I had a hard time setting down.
Jeremiah ‘Bullfrog’ Winters is looking for some downtime after a particularly grueling tour of duty. He and his teammate, Tristan, board a cruise ship heading to Mexico and run into an old love interest, Emma Albright.
Perfect, except for the fact that he keeps having premonitions of gunfire on board and many civilian casualties.
Can Jeremiah find out what’s happening and convince Emma to give their romance another chance?

Gracias al grupo Romance editorial por cederme el ejemplar, como en las entregas anteriores este libro está cargado de muchas emociones, de acción, amor, dónde también nos encontramos tensión en algunas de las escenas, me gustó mucho como se desarrolla la trama y esperando con ansias en siguiente de los Navy SEALS 😍

Outstanding love story!
I absolutely loved the story of Emma and Jeremiah! The suspense of the kidnapping and rescue in the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. Jeremiah's dedicated and devotion to Emma and her daughter, Sammy is heartwarming. I highly recommend this book!

Great series
Stories in this series are good and complex. Just when it looks like the resolution is going to happen another piece of the story falls into place. I am really enjoying this series.
