ADELAIDE BECKER—social outcast and sarcastic know-it-all—enjoys her quiet life until a giant alien crash-lands into it. He claims she’s half alien like him—an Earthborn—and he’s there to save her from the coming invasion. Being half little green man isn’t enough to convince Addy to go along with her supposed savior, but when her mother’s safety is threatened, she takes off on a journey that leads her to discover the other, more exotic side of her family and the power she holds deep within.

BROCK GRIGNI thinks this will be like any other Earthborn collection. His job is simple—bring his fellow Earthborn back to the compound and save them from the threat of becoming breeding slaves at the hands of aliens from their home planet, Ayezh. He isn’t prepared for Addy—beautiful, smart-mouthed, and his complete opposite in every way. When he learns that everything he trusts is a lie, he has nothing left to hold onto except Addy.

Together, Addy and Brock must struggle with the challenges and choices before them. Stay and fight, or run and hide? They know the Ayezhni—their ancestors and aliens from a planet in distress—are on their way and will make a collection of their own. Addy feels compelled to help her fellow Earthborn, but can she do that and keep her loved ones safe at the same time?

I'm not normally a sci fi reader but this book came highly recommended so I gave it a try. It is not a heavily techie book and I may have labeled it more of a fantasy than sci fi. I loved that PM gave you two points of view, the witty Adelaide, and brooding, Brock. The story line was fresh and entertaining. The only part that I didn't like was that it ended too soon. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Addy goes from a quiet, loner life to hanging out with aliens. Not just hanging out... being targeted. Others are there to protect her, but telling the difference could prove difficult. In a rush of revelations and realizations, she's on the run, trusting her life--and her mother's--to people she's known for a few days. People who aren't human.

I've said it time and time again, but memorable reads are all about good, relatable characters, and this book is brimming with them. Addy is both vulnerable and strong while being tenacious and thoughtful. Brock... can you see me fanning myself? He's a hottie with a heart. A perfect combination.

Together they need to find answers and take into account that their journey involves more than just them... it has long-reaching effects for their families and all of mankind.

And for sci-fi lovers... this is just the beginning of what I predict to be fascinating sci-fi coolness. I can't wait for more in the series. A great read.

Wow! I loved this book. I always get excited when I find a new author to love and stalk (in a good way), so I'm glad to announce that I will be stalking P.M. Hernandez from now on. The characters were well developed and likable, the plot moved along nicely and in a satisfying way, the romance was sexy while still very much YA, and my only beef is the ending. Not because it was a bad ending but kind of a cliffhanger which pisses me off. But since the sequel is out already, I'm okay with it,lol. Highly recommend it.

Great read! I didn't want to put the book down. I enjoyed the characters especially Addy's sarcasm. Brock and Addy are Earthborn, half human. Addy grew up not knowing her father and where he came from. Brock grew up as an Ayezhni soldier, training in the military and is a collector for gathering Earthborn. Great story and detailed background on the history and culture of the Ayezhni. Very captivating book. Looking forward to reading the next book.

There's something about a strong female heroine that excites me, and this author has written just such a character in her Earthborn series. I also love a well written book in first person. Maybe it's the way we get so much more insight into the mind of the main character. With this one, the perspective comes from two different directions--Adelaide Becker, a seemingly normal high school student with above average intelligence who is also a bit of a social pariah; and Brock Grigni, and a collector who is half human and half Ayezhni, who brings his fellow Earthborn back to the Compound, which is tucked away in Colorado, to keep them safe. At least that's what they each thought when our story began. It isn't until after these two young people get to know each other that they discover there are some more special things going on under the surface of Adelaide's world. It is those special differences that lead to a price on her head and turn both of their lives upside down. And it doesn't just affect the two of them but their entire respective species, including the those remaining Earthborn.

This is the first time I've ever read this author, and I was completely impressed. It was entertaining while keeping me on the edge of my seat. She keeps us guessing at the relationships between all of the characters throughout the book. She has a captivating talent for storytelling that made it difficult for me to put the book down. There were some sweet moments and romantic moments while others made me catch my breath. It ends on an unpredictable cliffhanger that only makes me thirst for the next in the series. I definitely recommend it.

Adelaide is a normal teenage girl growing up with just her mother, having lost her father in a car accident many years before. Whilst never being one for social acceptance she strong willed enough to dance to her own tune. She lives a relatively normal life of high school, helping her mother at her gallery and spending time with her best friend.

Brock on the other hand has grown up as an “Earthborn” a mix of both human and alien on a Human/Ayezhni compound, schooled in military tactics and labelled “solider” he is tasked as a collector of other Earthborn children, to protect them from being collected by those from the home planet of Ayezh. When Adelaide is given to him as a collection target, nothing from the files would have led him to believe that this would be anything other than a straightforward mission. How wrong you can be! Immediately captivated by Adelaide in way no girl has ever come close to, he finds that her street smarts and perceptiveness leave her immune and suspicious to and of his usual collection techniques, leaving him and his mission leader to become more involved with Adelaide and her mother.

Before long it is clear that everything is not as it seems. This is not a straightforward collection, but why? And Brock soon knows that he is no longer the only one tracking Adelaide. Who will get to her first? How will Adelaide react to the revelation about her heritage? It’s not everyday you find out that you are half human and half alien! One thing is for certain, her life will never be the same again and in an effort to protect those she loves she makes a leap of faith to go with Brock to track down answers as to just why so many are searching for her.

It’s difficult to give a full synopsis as there are a lot of twists and revelations throughout the story that I wouldn’t want to spoil. However, I think it’s fair to say that both Adelaide and Brock are placed into an unfamiliar situation for both of them with the feelings that they have grow for each other. Although both instantly attracted to one another this is by no means an unbelievable “insta-love” story. Both have their own set of frustrating and loveable quirks and walls built up and Adelaide has some genuinely laugh out loud snark and sass about her. For the ages they are the romantic sub-element of this YA read are entirely believable and appropriate which was refreshing.

I found that the book was very steadily paced to start and there are times where this is needed, as a lot of background information (which is sure to be vital in future books in the series) is given at once which needs to be processed. The pace increases in the last third of the book which is less about setting the background for the series and more about the action packed conclusion to Adelaide’s cat and mouse with those searching for her. Because we have spent a long time getting to really know the characters I felt that this made the final scenes far more impactful as I was far more in tune with the way Adelaide’s emotions worked.

This is a YA read which is written from a dual POV. I love this writing style as it gives such a wider understanding of the characters with ease. As a warning this ends on a major cliffhanger and I hope PM Hernandez doesn’t leave us hanging too long for the next instalment!

I liked the concept of the book and that it was fast-paced.The characters were pretty real and likable. But. Really. I have this thing where I hate it when characters are in the midst of running for their lives, fall in love and start making out. Look, I get that romance waits for no man....but please this is absurd. I think that those scenes messed with an otherwise really good story.

Hate it when real life happens and not able to read as long as I want, therefore taking longer to finish Earthborn than I had wanted.

PM Hernandez dos it again! Earthborn had be hooked from the first sentenced until the last period. So many emotions flying it's a tennis match, but an exciting own that makes you bite your nails!

Then you realize that so much has not been answered and not that many pages left that it becomes obvious that there shall be a cliffhanger and the waiting game for the next book of a hopeful series and have no idea when it be released!

Earthborn totally worth the wait!

Alien- half alien stories have been hit or miss with me, and this one is definitely a hit. The story is told from Addy and Brock's perspectives. The characters are interesting, likable and relatable. There are lots of twists and turns, action, and betrayals. I found myself laughing out loud and appreciate Addy's sense of humor. Another bonus- no insta-love... Attraction, yes, but not love at first sight. If you've read Hernandez's "Flesh and Stone " series and liked the writing style, you'll get caught up in this story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
