The stakes are rising.

As the god-son closes in leaving more bodies in its wake, treason and betrayal against the Association is unveiled. An inquiry for the Goddesses has been called, threatening everything Leo holds dear.

And the Chimera is not about to let go without a fight.

Despite the dangers lurking in the shadows, Leo wants his doxie Kaleb to think of only one thing. Him. His training. His purpose. And embrace the reality of what he is and not be ashamed of his attraction to Aaron, the doxie tossed aside by Sol.

Attraction is one thing. Bringing the boy to their bed is something else entirely. Kaleb can’t possibly want anyone but Leo. A lie Kaleb will pay dearly for. Penance Leo will be more than happy to deliver.

But penance for a lie will pale in comparison to what Kaleb must do to keep Sol from taking Aaron away, and invoking the Chimera into a lifetime in chains.

Kaleb’s training continues and that’s the problem! This one hadn’t a good plot just more sex, punishment, torture and producing more ambrosia! I got tired of Leo! This book took me out of my comfort zone and it wasn’t really a good experience! I think I’m done with this series! Told in multiple POV, 3rd person. It’s the third installment in the "Bound Gods" series and it must be read in order. Hope you like it!

If I thought I was bad wrong before… it’s official now. I’m pretty sure there’s no way I can avoid the label anymore. If there’s some sort of crown or ritual induction I’ll clear my schedule.

Well well, that's downright pleasant. Color me surprised. And you shouldn't have. *preens*

Aaron becomes a part of Kaleb and Leo’s relationship mostly because of his burgeoning bond with Kaleb and partly by Leo’s indulgence. After he's been ruined by the monster and abandoned by Sol he has trouble believing anyone would want him, but Kaleb is so affectionate that they become like two happy puppies pawing at each other. And waiting for Leo to dole out punishments for (usually) trumped up reasons. However, Aaron is a pain slut and was raised to be a doxie, so he's frothing at the mouth for whatever Leo has in the offing. Leo is intimidating and commanding, but they’re both still cheeky with him at times.

Betrayed was so stupid hot and wrong and hot and depraved and hot. The things Leo puts Kaleb through… the way he begs and cries and begs. UNF! So much depravity. So much kink. Impact play, humiliation, chastity, electric play, orgasm denial, body modification, bondage. Did I mention how hot it was?

“Why do I have to watch?” A fat tear rolled down his cheek but all he could do was rub it away on the bed of lamb’s wool padding cradling his head.

“Because I want you to. Because I know you hate it. Because I know it humiliates you to see what I do to your body. How I command it and in spite of hurting and fearing, you come and you beg for more.”

 photo funny-dog-pictures-cool-offz_zpscaia9arz.jpg

Both Aaron and Kaleb keep Leo on his toes with their needs-Kaleb “hating” pain and Aaron loving it. But through all the sex and pain it’s clear their connection is strengthening. They have something and are working towards a true triad. Leo is possessive but I don’t think he’s ever really loved before and I’m not sure he even believes he’s capable of it. Maybe he’s not but he’s going to put up one helluva fight before he gives up either one of these boys.

“You are mine to do with whatever I please. If I choose for you to fuck another god you will obey, if I choose for you to fuck no one you will obey, if I choose for you to stand here while I clean you, you will obey. You have no choice.”

There is a thread of plot but it is meager. I didn’t even care. I fell into the lust fog wherein too much plot would’ve made my brain bleed. I am sort of curious as to what Alton is, what he knows, what the end game is and if there will be a dramatic showdown between the gods, monsters and whomever is behind the genetic tinkering, but not that much. What I’m really looking forward to is The Gathering and the Kaleb and Aaron show.

Like, a lot.

This was NOT a romance, not even in the broadest sense, but simply torture porn.

75% of this book was just sex scene torture scene after sex scene torture scene between a sadist, a pain slut and an idiot. None of it was even remotely arousing or sexy, but just cringeworthy and painful to read; I skimmed through most of it.

The rest consisted of boring dialogues, repetitive explanations, and a plot that hasn't really moved any forward since the last book. I really don't care about any of the characters enough to find out what's gonna happen to them, nor do I want to continue with this series.

And that's why I call it quits here.

Review originally posted at Sinfully.

This is a series that must be read in order so my review may contain some mild spoilers from the prior books in the series. I was thrilled when I saw the cover reveal for this story with Aaron front and center. If you’ve read my review of Chained (Book 2) you know how much I liked him and how much I was hoping for his bond with Kaleb to continue. Adrienne Wilder has placed warnings at the start of each book, stating that everyone will likely be offended by something and I’m pretty sure this book will hit that nerve for a lot of people.

Picking up from where Chained left off, the tone is immediately set with Kaleb begging and in tears as Leo is punishing him for his disobedience in the prior story. Kaleb still hasn’t realized that Leo never forgets a transgression or reneges on a promised punishment. The gods and doxies are all still holed up in Sanctuary as the god-son continues its deadly rampage, and they are awaiting a visit from the goddesses that could have dire repercussions. Alton also knows more than he has led on and Leo is not going to have any of it.

Aaron is still recovering from the attack that permanently disfigured him and Kaleb is still drawn to him and trying to be a friend. We learn that Aaron is bred from a long line of doxies and was groomed from birth. With Sol casting him aside and his beauty marred he is in limbo. If he is sent home he would be turned away by his family for disgracing them with his inability to serve but if Sol chooses, he could be sold out or sent to purgatory to serve the gods imprisoned there. Death would be the kindest fate and Aaron is trying to get there, but Kaleb won’t allow him to give up. There is another option however that Leo is willing to offer, but it comes with risks and it will force Kaleb to be honest with both himself and Leo.

Here’s where things get dicey and some may find this a little spoilery (so skip straight to the next paragraph is you want), though I thought it was telegraphed a bit in the prior book and it’s referenced in the blurb. It happens early on in the story and it’s hard to say more without it coming up, so without divulging specific details I love the addition of Aaron into Kaleb’s training with Leo. Aaron fills a need for both men. For Leo and the Chimera, Aaron is able to handle both him and the beast. His pain threshold is almost nonexistent and though he is young, he is a doxie of the highest caliber. For Kaleb, Aaron is a model of what a true doxie is, helping Kaleb to understand his nature. He is also a bit mischievous, loyal, and a gentle soul that Kaleb truly cares for and doesn’t want to see hurt anymore. Aaron doesn’t understand why anyone would find him worthy now that his beauty is compromised and he’s lost his voice, but there just may be something special about him that only Kaleb and Leo can bring out.

Betrayal is the name of this installment and it’s here in spades whether actual or perceived. As Alton (who is still a huge seemingly all-seeing mystery) and Leo get closer to figuring out how the god-monster was created, what it is, and who is behind it, a betrayal by at least one of their own is revealed. In addition, Kaleb must deal with his own feelings when he believes he has betrayed Leo in several ways, and what he must do to protect both Leo and Aaron may actually destroy him.

While all those plot points and a few more are covered, the majority of the story is taken up with Kaleb’s training and Leo attempting to increase his ambrosia production. If you’ve been reading the story so far you know that means a lot of kinky, hardcore, sex, with instruments and toys that only a depraved imagination could possibly come up with and Leo (and Adrienne Wilder) has no limit to his imagination when it comes to torturing and tormenting Aaron and Kaleb. The story did verge on too much sex even for me, but then again, we were warned.

There is no question that Leo is determined to keep his vow to protect and keep Kaleb and Aaron, but it’s not only up to him and there are forces that are determined to prevent it. If you weren’t yet convinced that Leo isn’t just a soulless monster, hang in there because in this book he shows just how much he is devoted to Kaleb and it’s as intense as any punishment he can dole out.

Adrienne Wilder has promised depravity and this series absolutely delivers! With Kaleb finally on the road to an understanding of his true nature and sorting out the feelings he has for Leo and Aaron, I am really looking forward to next installment, which is expected to wrap up Leo’s story. The plot feels like it has reached a breaking point and I am invested in seeing just how far Leo and the Chimera will go to protect what is theirs.

But even after his body was completely used, the hunger in the Chimera lingered. The only time it truly seemed satisfied was when it embraced Kaleb.

This was an even bigger step up from Chained and by far my favourite entry in the series!! It feels like Adrienne Wilder pulled out ALL the stops for this and I was living for it🤩 Who knew I would be an MMM convert???

WHY I LIKED THIS
- Kaleb and Leo’s evolution. It’s finally begun! I’ve been waiting since book 1 when Kaleb teased the Chimera and we FINALLY got to see Leo give into his emotion here. That scene after Kaleb is done with Sol?? I knew immediately that I would rate this 5 stars.
- World building. As always, Adrienne Wilder doesn’t skimp on detail and complexity. Between this and Kaleb & Leo, I’m not sure what I like more.
- The spice. Pure filth and I loved every second of it🥵I can’t believe this is the same Kaleb that was asking for a safe word in book 1😂

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to DEVOUR the rest of this series.

5 stars! Gah!!!
My favorite so far. I LOVE Aaron, I love him so much, he is a perfect addition to Leo and Kaleb, complements them both, adds to the dynamic in such a wonderful way. I like how the Chimera is like getting in on the action, too.
Sol is a fuckhead.
Alton pisses me off.
I am jonesin' for Priest to have a story and an HEA.
I am a little concerned about this next little get together they are having.

Looking forward to the next one.

This is my favorite of the series so far. After Aaron is nearly killed at the Gathering and discarded by Sol, Kaleb feels a strong connection to him. Leo takes Aaron under his wing as a (temporary?) doxie along with Kaleb. The Association continues its efforts to find out what exactly the monster attacking doxies is and how to stop it.

My favorite thing about this book is that we're seeing more of the emotionality of all three MC. They each express their love and devotion in different ways. Leo, while still absolutely brutal, softens as he strengthens his attachment to Kaleb and Aaron. We finally get to see the romantic side of these guys, even if it's mixed in with fisting, caning, e-stim, and unwanted piercings.

There are plenty of flaws with this book, but the story is great, so I'm not even that concerned. If you liked the first two books, you'll definitely enjoy this.

This is such a dark and nasty Dystopian, UF series. I really like this series, but trigger warnings of non consensual HARDCORE BDSM, physical and mental abuse, rape.

Not too far in the future after a massive global World Financial Crisis, which a small part of the US population manages to miss. They have discovered a race within us. They found people who have a genetic marker making them powerful and immortal who are referred to as GODS among men. They however are not gods just genetic throwbacks that have hidden through the hundreds or thousands of years until now.

I can't wait for book #4 but if you don't like slavery, torture or BDSM then STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

Damn - it was amazing. I love Aaron - and the change in Leo at the end is incredibly disturbing... what does this mean? What's going to happen to Sol? Thank god the 4th book is supposed to be out this weekend or I would be going crazy.

I really enjoyed the way AW moved these characters along in this book. There are great glimpses into the secondary characters and some nice background info too, very thoughtful and well crafted story. I knew Kaleb had it in him... he is super strong and to see how he's matured over these three books has been very well done.

I highly recommend this series.

It’s official: I am bad. I am sooo bad. There’s no way around it because this series is so fucked up and I’m here YAY! What does it say about me? DO NOT ANSWER THAT.

Tho this one has a hint of romance with Leo still being the dominant sadist evil he is, but he lurves his doxies. And the beast? Oh my lord, the beast. RAWR. I’m seriously fucked up in the head and I have Adrianne Wilder to thank for setting my freak free.

Let’s keep going.

Probably one of the most glorious quotes and sentiments @ 74%!! I am in love with this quote, moment, and scene between these three ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!! One my absolute absolute ABSOLUTE favorites 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍!! And I adore how Adrienne worded everything!!

Kaleb hesitated.
“You want me to be angry with you.” Leo stroked Kaleb’s cheek. “You think you deserve my rage.” He thumbed Kaleb’s bottom lip. “And you have it. But not because you didn’t want to tell me, or because you would have let me break you before giving up your lie, but because you didn’t trust my devotion to you enough to believe no matter what, I would never toss you aside.”
New tears ran down Kaleb’s cheeks. “But that’s okay.” Leo kissed them away. “I’ve never given you much of a reason to believe otherwise.”
“That’s not true,” Kaleb said.
“All right. Then, I haven’t given you a reason in a way you understand. Let me do that now Kaleb, let me show you, no matter what, you are mine and only mine, and Aaron is ours.

DNFed at 20%

Okay, I'm going to preface this review by fully admitting that I was probably not the intended audience for this series. I like BSDM, and I like reading about it. About that exchange of power when the sub gives over complete control, and the sheer awe of the Dom when they are given that gift and the reverence with which they treat it. I love reading about the build up to that moment when the sub gives in and gives everything, and the aftercare that happens after. If a book can deliver on those points, then it doesn't matter what kinks are employed during the scenes, I am guaranteed to love it. This series is not that: this is a sexual slavery story with a BDSM twist. There is no kink negotiation, it's not dubious consent, it is non-consent. It doesn't matter that Kaleb agreed to hand his life over for 10 years, it doesn't matter that his body responds to the stimulus provided, he hates it. He cries and begs and pleads for the pain to stop every. single. time.

Now, I knew this going in, so this low rating actually has nothing to do with that, this is just a reason as to why these books were probably not meant for me - I'm already in prime position to side-eye it very judgmentally. But no, my reasons are because the relationship never actually progresses beyond the dynamic of Master/slave, and without that, there's just really no reason for me to root for the couple.

Let me break it down for you: Gods are born inside mortal men, giving them some special abilities. If they consume Ambrosia, they get to live a preternaturally long life, with the added benefits of staying young and increased healing. The only problem is, it's hard to produce the ambrosia flower in enough quantities to keep all of the gods alive, but happily, there is a solution: Doxies. These are also mortal men, who are born with the ability to create ambrosia through their adrenal gland, making their bodily fluids the literal nectar of the gods. Apparently, the more they suffer (ie, sweat, or cry), the more ambrosia they create, and the more gods they can help keep alive. So, gods are Masters, and they humiliate, beat and fuck these doxies, and then drink the ambrosia these scenes create. And I mean, okay, this is a sexual slavery story, I can get behind that premise.

Then we have Leo. He is a mortal man born with the Chimera inside him. Leo likes his sexual partners to look young, he likes them pale skinned with grey eyes and red hair. The Chimera likes suffering: it's what it wants, needs, craves. And so the god in charge, Alton, designed a doxie especially for Leo. Kaleb is everything Leo the man likes in aesthetic, and yet - unlike other doxies, who actually like the pain and get off on it - hates the pain so much that his suffering is so huge it can appease the Chimera. So, the Chimera wants Kaleb's pain and suffering, Leo thinks Kaleb is kinda hot, and Kaleb himself has no say in anything because he's a doxie, and doxies are, apparently, furniture, a hole to fuck (but they're also treasures? I don't know).

Now, I could get behind all of this, except that the relationship dynamic never changes. Kaleb tells Leo he loves him (which, personally, I think is a bit of low-level Stockholm Syndrome plus the idea that being used and abused by only one man instead of a whole host of them sounds like a better deal), and Leo's reaction is basically, "yay, more ambrosia for me!" The thing is, I can understand the Chimera needing his doxie's suffering, but I can't understand why Leo the man gives no fucks for the man that Kaleb is. Leo spends a lot of his PoVs telling us how he holds the Chimera back, and yet the human part of him acts no differently, and he clearly doesn't care about Kaleb beyond what the boy can give him, which is his pain and the potent ambrosia that produces.

So, I could get behind the sexual slavery aspect of this story, and the fact that Kaleb has no say whatsoever in what happens to him (although I spent most of the time reading with all of my muscles clenched in sympathy for the poor kid), but I can't get past the power imbalance in their relationship. It gives me nothing to root for, except the vain hope that Kaleb eventually kills all of the gods and destroys all of the ambrosia flowers in a fit of well deserved rage. I don't want these two together, I want Kaleb as far away from Leo as he can get. I want Leo to die in a fucking fire, because if he needs Kaleb's suffering, there are ways of getting that without treating him like garbage. But Leo doesn't put Kaleb in daily agony just because the Chimera inside of him needs it, he does it because he's a fucking sadist, and not of the BDSM variety.

Basically, I would have been fine with this series if only Leo had shown one ounce of compassion or feelings for Kaleb, but he doesn't, so instead he's nothing more than a sadistic rapist and blames it on the 'god' living inside of him. Leo isn't a god, he's a fucking monster, so I'm DNFing and walking away with the fantasy that the series ends with Kaleb taking over his bastard of a father's company, and Leo dying in a really painful way.

Oh, and I hope he suffers.

A review by The Blogger Girls.

Quite a few things are moving along with this story at this point. The Gods are still trying to track down the beast, and in doing so, uncover a greater plan that could have devastating effects on all of them. More secrets are uncovered, yet there are still a lot of unknowns.

Leo is still training Kaleb and working to get his Ambrosia levels up to a level that only he will be able to handle. It is getting harder to keep this secret and some things happen that will surely get the attention of the other Gods.

In the meantime, Leo has also decided to make a bid for Aaron. While against old practices of the doxie’s wants or needs not mattering, Leo brings Aaron into their relationship for Kaleb once it is clear how much Kaleb wants Aaron. I’ve wanted to see more of Aaron from the beginning, so to see him now being shown attention of any kind after he was so disfigured and heartbroken made me very happy. His presence also makes things a bit better for Kaleb. Even though Leo uses Aaron where Kaleb is concerned, it is easy to see the positives to his being a part of their “relationship.”

There is still a big question about what will happen to Kaleb once his year of training with Leo is up. Leo is adamant about them being together forever, but he will have to go against some major rules to make that happen. Doxies are not made for on God, though Kaleb is definitely not a normal Doxie. Likewise, if something were to happen to Kaleb, would Leo survive without his Ambrosia? And what would the Chimera do? There are quite a few fine lines being walked, and it should be really interesting to see how they all play out.

I am really loving this story. I will admit that I continue to have some trouble where Leo and Kaleb are concerned. I understand that Leo must push Kaleb to the brink with pain in order for him to produce the pure Ambrosia, but I often struggle with what that entails. It is definitely an interesting twist that Kaleb doesn’t enjoy pain as he should being a Doxie, yet there is Aaron, who is the total opposite, born and raised to be a Doxie, wanting, needing and enjoying pain and being used. This is yet another reason why I think this threesome works so well. Each provides an understanding the other needs that allow them to come to grips with their lives and to keep going. It helps me understand as well when I see both sides of the coin and allows me to more fully enjoy this well-written interesting tale.

Original Blog Post: Review Request: Betrayed (Bound Gods #3) by Adrienne Wilder

Review by: multitaskingmomma

My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars

Wow! This is a wow read and leaves no room for a reader who is shy. No. The reader is not allowed to cringe. If you are brave and want something totally unexpected, Betrayed is the book for you.

Now, here's the thing. This story went off tangent from what I expected but I think I should have been more prepared which could have helped me adjust to the unexpected twists. I don't know how the introduction of another, Aaron, in the established relationship between Leo and Kaleb. There would be others who would not like this and then there are others who would take it in stride as a character and plot development. Some will hate this, some will love this. I belong in the in-between, hence the rating.

To be honest, I read menage. I even read books that are MMMMM+++ believe it or not. However, this was an established couple in the first two books and then the third, although adorable, is only introduced here so he comes out as the usurper. The stone in the shoe. The unexpected evil in a beautiful relationship.

So, dislike as I did the turn, there is no denying Adrienne Wilder is one of my favorites. His style of writing, yep! Up there in the ranks. This turn of the screw? I don't know, but still, Betrayed is an awesome read and I cannot complain. As for my personal likes, I cannot even input it here in this review. It wouldn't matter, this is a great book!

This is a brilliantly written piece which, fyi peeps, cannot be read without reading the first two. If you like the unexpected (not so now because you've prolly read the spoilers already) then you should take this one up. In any case, an AW read is the best investment for any reader out there who is not afraid of AW's mind. I love him, so there.

This series truly does blow me away. In the last book we were left with many questions (We still have questions but some are answered) We watched as a young, vibrant, amazing doxie named Aaron was cast away, torn apart physically and mentally, left to think himself worthless, ashamed. Only to find Kaleb, not surprisingly, connecting with Aaron.

Sometimes, no, all the time, I really feel Kaleb doesn’t realize the power he has. Yes the ambrosia and what Leo is doing, but on the other side of that the power he himself holds over Leo.
In Betrayed Kaleb pulls another side out of Leo. The Chimera in him thrives on agony. He lives for the pain he inflicts, drinks it in. We see Leo actually being amazingly sensitive, kind, and gentle with Kaleb (He’s equally depraved too LOL) We see Leo fighting FOR Aaron to be with them and I wonder if Leo sees the impact Kaleb has on his life like we do.

I love how this book makes me think and how I get so lost in it I don’t even recognize the pages dwindling away until they end.

Adrienne Wilder has a brilliant series here and I REALLY hope you all read it. Yes, it’s dark erotica and it may not be your thing so heed the warnings. But this story is compelling and I am highly recommending it.

I can't appreciate a three-way relationship. It simply destroys everything for me and makes me regret I've read the series this far. I found Aaron useless and boring and I didn't see any of his added-value. I think he came about only to add some threesome sex into the mix, but honestly, that's not my kink.

Moreover, I found strange that the Chimera for whom Kaleb was supposed to be special and who never liked any othe doxie suddenly finds Aaron as worthy as his "beloved". I can't find the explanation and I don't like this sudden change in the story making their relationship so much less special.

This book is definitely on the verge of comfort zone (mine as well as some other readers). But I am quite surprised by the amount of actually good story that is incorporated into this book. I expected it to be mostly sex and while, well, it is mostly sex, it also has a bit of quite good plot. I am also surprised how sweet is this book despite all the hard-bdsm part.

I haven't read the previous two book (which is not a problem, really) but now I'm considering doing it, since I attached to the characters.

So far, I've liked this book the best of the series. Much more emotional depth and the science stuff is a little, well, it's still there and breaking my brain... This book once again reiterates too much of the past books in the beginning.

However, the connection between Leo and Kaleb is stronger and Aaron starts to see himself as worthy.

Still hard to put down.

Nah

I don’t think I realized until this book that Kaleb is stupid. Like just plain dumb. Weak minded. You think someone who is physically and emotionally abused on a daily bases would have a bit more strength and steadfastness.

Wow. This was a steamy, kink-fest of a book.

Heavy on the pain/pleasure/ambrosia, rinse and repeat several times over and getting more depraved each time, the few threads of the story are buried deep. Not that I minded. *shrugs unapologetically*

Honestly, the DNA talk in this lost me. I didn't understand it and had to read it several times to get it straight in my head. And even then it was blurry.

But Leo (and Aaron) finally made Kaleb feel loved, and it was glorious.

On to the next.

Amazing

The story gets better and better with each book. The naughty scenes never let up, they are all different and beautifully intense.

Definitely read this series!
