You know that group of people in school that everyone fears? Popular. Beautiful. The in-crowd?
That was my family. Kind of.
We were above that group. We held court over everyone else. We were the best looking. We were the mysterious and elusive ones. Most of the girls wanted to (and did) date the guys, but they didn't want to be one of us. They couldn't be. They were our prey.
We were the feared.
But like every family, nothing is as it seems. That was my truth.
Kellan was in his own league. He was our leader and he was the one no one messed with. No one dared. He was ruthless, powerful, and no one could match him...
Except for me.
I was about to find out just how different I was from my family.

EVIL is a standalone paranormal story, a battle between Demons and Angels that takes place in high school in the city of Minnesota. It focus around the BRADEN foursome family who are perfect, gorgeous, mysterious and dysfunctional. The Braden family are composed by Kellan (dark and smoking HOT); Shay quiet and she don't like drama; Giuseppa (Gus) she likes to sleep with all the boys and have fun but she could get carried away in a fight; and lastly Vespar he has an attitude and don't mind fighting anyone or anything. Everyone knew better than to mess with them. However; Shay was different the guys seem to mess with her but little did they know that she was more capable of protecting herself. She knew it too but refused to accept that she was different than everyone. Kellan knew it all but he wanted her to find out at her own time. He knew he will be there for her when she was ready to accept her truth.

description

Kellan was always protective of Shay; something Shay's sister and brother resent her for they couldn't comprehend why such a close bond. Kellan was a powerful demon living on earth all for the love of Shay; he was a pure ALPHA MALE. Shay only wanted to be normal and because of it she blocked out her past, her memories;she didn't remember why she couldn't see her parents or why she looked so much different; all she wanted was to be normal. However; when her past comes crashing on her and she finally finds out who she really was and what it really means; so many battles and secrets comes out. Kellan and Shay are in a battle with family, demons, angels and everyone is looking for them; they want their powers but they don't know that their bond is too strong to break.

description

This book was a full of action and it was a bit nerve wrecking; I was on the edge the entire time because I really didn't know what was coming next. We see Demons, Angels, and Magic. I loved everything about it. We meet unforgettable characters like Shay's aunt and her real brother. I liked how Kellan and Shay could understand each other so well and knew exactly how to protect each other. They could talk to each other in their minds which was hard to do only bonded people could do it. There's some amazing action and sacrifices that left me in awe. This book was packed with suspense and shocking events. If you are looking for a fantastic fast pace story full of action, suspense, a little romance in the mix you will enjoy this one.

Re-read: 12.10.2020
This time reading the book I could finally see what kind of mess it is. Like holy shit, I don't remember it being sooo.... chaotic. Kellan Braden (how old?) and Shay Braden (how old? 17? 18?) who are siblings - but not really. But Shay has grown up thinking Kellan is her brother. Hell the book starts with her calling Kellan her brother, along side her other siblings, Vespar Braden and Giuseppa ‘Gus’ Braden. She always felt different from them - While I don't get the incest feeling, the book - or more the romance, could've been written a bit different.

What bothered me the most, however, was how quickly Shay turned on her siblings. Demon or not, they were her half-siblings after all. Shay felt like the most shallow character ever. I mean, truly, how can she be so... hateful towards her siblings. Ready to fucking kill them the second she finds out she's not really one of them. Girl, you've been GROWING UP with them. You can't just push a damn switch!? Then there's the fact that she never trusted Kellan, but loved him, but I didn't really feel her love. I felt his love - I mean come on, he did everything for her. He's an epic character that I could easily read 10 books about, but Shay is not. There's no depth to her, and her feelings change in matter of minutes. It just didn't fit in my head.

Overall, the book has an interesting concept, it does, and it has great potential. BUT had it been written as a series, I think this would've come out so much better. To take more time to reveal things, to build up characters (especially Shay), got get more depth within relationships and give the world more care and finesse. Now, it was all just quickly gone over and became a mess that was over too soon. And why the fuck didn't we get to read about the penetration sex?! Made no sense as it was built up to be this huge thing and then it just come to "and we finally become one" (or something similar to that). Annoying.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Upper YA/NA) Paranormal Romance (M/F)
Series: - Standalone.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Kellan Braden.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Sure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - I don't know.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2.5/2 (I did love Kellan though) stars.

First read review:
I want more. Or closer to the truth: I want more Kellan. N o w. Like right now. So Tijan, please write more for us. This book ended so .... open, which mean that this could be a series, sounds like a plan, Tijan? Glad you agree. So now go write me more Kellan!!!!! (I'm kinda crazy, you see...)

Ekkkkk Ok I have a confession to make I have NEVER read a PARANORMAL book before *gasps*

So we've established that this is a first for me delving into demons and angels and all things paranormal, but as soon as you jump into this weither you like it or not your dragged into the story.

Like any normal high school dynamics where you have your popular/unpopular in crowd the cool kids that aren't quiet right, everyone avoided them like the plaque and some would go so far to say that they feared them.

EVIL centers around the gorgeous, mysterious, dysfunctional Braden family

The Braden foursome

Kellan
Shay
Giuseppa (Gus)
Vespar

A part of me wished things could've been different. That I could've grown up as a normal girl with a normal family and even a normal boyfriend. ~ Shay

Good vs Evil is at times hard to distinguish as the lines between the two become very very blurry.

Dark, Mysterious, Gorgeous & Powerful

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Our mother was conceived by a demon. Yes, we have demon blood in us, but that doesn't make us demonic or evil or murderers. It just makes us not nice people, but we're not demons.

Kellan is the ultimate alpha bad boy the one that they always seek guidance from, he's always been Shay's protector for as far back as she can remember.

He protected me. He killed for me..He would do anything for me.

Who would've thought I'd fall in love with a Demon!! This took me a wee bit longer to read than it would normally take me to read a book, for me being my first paranormal book but once I got used to the different terms it was hard to put down..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I was half of a messenger, he was half of a demon.

They were always battling some form of evil which kept me racing through the pages to see which side would win..Family pitted against family, friends against friends, evil against evil, good against good this book pretty much had it all..

So much happened that humans didn't know about. Their bodies sensed it, but their minds weren't in tune with their bodies.

Would I read another paranormal book at this stage I'm not convinced it would have to top this one before I took that dive into the unknown again..

Shay's abilities differ from the others there was always something ticking away inside of her like a bomb ready to detonate at any moment, it was only a matter of time before what was inside her unleashed it's power.

Something was coming, and it was going to hurt us, it's time to fight.

Let's go with a 3.3

For the most part this was enjoyable. Definitely confusing at the start but everything tied together pretty well by the end. My issues are with the sex vs violence. There are descriptive scenes of murder and even sex scenes with other characters, but when it came to the two main characters 'bonding' the whole thing was skipped over. It just makes no sense.

A strong start that petered out.

Meh. It started off interesting with a girl in a demon family. The Braeden family of Kellan, Shay, and twins Vespar & Guiseppa. They're demons and evil-ish. Shay is different and doesn't use her powers, even if she's the more powerful sibling. Then strange things start happening and the twins make a lot of messes that grab the attention of others. Not a good thing as there exists oversight for all creatures and they've made too much noise.

The beginning was good, the girl with mysterious powers she doesn't like to use and her family that's evil-ish. Then she has an unknown voice she's hearing and a mystery guest. More cryptic things. At times, it seemed like everyone but Shay knew what was going on. That was annoying. Then the book flipped and changed directions once the big reveal happened. It changed from a high school book with demons to a trying not to die book.

The change in the book did bring about more characters and up the pnr, but it never got to the level I thought it would. Maybe this is meant to be a series and that's why the author held back. It just never clicked for me. The characters were fine, but I felt meh about them.

The ending was not what I was expecting, but I suppose if it went another way it wouldn't have been a HEA. It does have a HEA, with a suggestion of future books. Not sure I'd pursue this series further. Pretty good for an hs demon book.

Kellan is Shay's brother and then suddenly he's not as they're actually bonded and so of course are now lovers. Pls fuck off. Why have readers believe they're siblings in the first place if they're actually not, which we find out later on where Shay immediately feels some kind of attraction to Kellan. Is that not fucking disturbing at all to you guys or is that just me because ew wtf?! The author could have changed this whole situation to something else! My interest in this book deteriorated after that, why would I take my time and finish reading this incestuous bullshit. No fucking thank you, I'm good.

So I am a very hard person to like a fantasy book I only loved Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin and the The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. That are the only ones I truly enjoyed. I like fantasy movies but books it's a little harder for me.

So for me I wasn't sure what it truly was that I didn't enjoy maybe her love interest because suddenly that felt a bit forced. It wasn't like I hated it or something I just didn't get a lot and I read my books for the love interest and the connection, passion and spark here that felt just a but forced. In the beginning I was thinking who can it be and then I was "What No" then the explanation came and then I understood but not entirely. Why keeping the truth so long from her, I get it she wasn't ready from the start.

This was a less enjoyable read for me because I'm very picky with my fantasy. But I really wanted to give this one a shot because it was tempting me from when it came out. I'm very glad to have read it.

bah!

I love Tijan books. They have lots of angst and conflict and action and nutty shit going on. I didn't think this was supernatural because when I saw it was by Tijan I just hunkered down and prepped myself for a ride. I certainly didnt expect this. More so than that, all through the book I expected it to get heavier... better, with a bit more conflict, but there wasn't.

It ended up being a lot of crazy shit about half breed demons and nephilim. But this book, for all its supernatural creatures, seemed to lack action. Especially from the heroine and hero. I really didn't feel the pull between them. The romance wasn't strong enough. It just fell flat.

I'll post some thoughts on the completed version...eventually! I definitely enjoyed it though :)

Old Review
I was definitely hooked from the beginning with this one. Although I did make the mistake of starting the book without reading anything else about it and it wasn't until I was about 3/4 of the way through the chapters that I realized there was no way the story was going to be finished in those 18 chapters. That's when I realized the story had been abandoned and wasn't finished.

That being said, what was written was amazing. I devoured the chapters on Tijan's fictionpress. I fervently hope she will be inspired to revisit the story and finish it. If anyone is just itching to read more of Tijan's writing I would definitely give this story a try. Just go into it knowing that it's not finished. It's not even kind of at a stopping point, when you read the last chapter the ground just falls away beneath you, total cliffhanger. Also, it's a supernatural story. It's amazing, check it out if you have the time, just know it's supernatural and it's not finished. Definitely worth the read though, in my opinion.

I received this book from a fellow reader who wanted to "share the love".

I hadn't read the blurb but as it was Tijan, I went blind armed with faith. To my utmost delight, I got what I call the "Other Tijan", not the Fallen Crest Tijan but the writer of Davy Harwood. Yes it's fantasy as the title should have let me know.

I don't want to give details about the blurb, just keep the surprise but know that I loved the battle of Good vs Evil, the idea even someone evil can love hard and sacrifice himself if need be. The good guys are not so white in that story and the bad guys are not all completely black.

You'll have a hot protective and commanding male (that's Tijan we're speaking of, even in Other Tijan's clothes), a heroine feeling "different" than the rest of her family and friends and many conflicts, betrayals and battles. Unexpected and unbreakable love from people who should be enemies is also on the menu. My only complaint was the plot was so complex some people had many hidden agenda and I was sometimes confused about everyone's motives or true nature.

I read it in one sitting with great pleasure and would recommend this book for fans of Davy Harwood.

Evil by Tijan
4 stars!!!

“We’ve been hiding all our lives. I’m done hiding...it’s time to fight”

I have loved Tijan’s books so it always piques my interest when an author steps out of their tried and tested genre and pokes their toes into something else. With Evil though, Tijan cleverly integrates the two, we have her trademark school kids interwoven with paranormal and it made for an intriguing read that I didn’t want to put down. I am not a paranormal aficionado by any means, but I have read my fair share and this one kept me glued to the pages while still delivering a Tijan read that I love.

For me, in the beginning, this had a Twilight feel, only in so far as these were a family of kids in school and everyone feared them, but wanted to be them. They had that air about them and no one went against them, but from the offset you knew they were different.

This is the story of the Braden family, Kellan, Shay, Giuseppa (Gus) and Vespar. A story of Angels and Demons and the fine lines between the two and lines that definitely blur. From the first page I was intrigued and my curiosity and interest never waned as the battle lines between good versus evil were compellingly drawn.

“His power reverberated out of him. He was a walking, living, breathing weapon, and I’d fallen for his hook. I’d slept with him, comforted him, trusted him. And now…now I was furious.”

Kellan was your typical alpha male, it seeped from his pores and he exuded authority and strength. He was dark and mysterious and had that air of superiority about him but he wasn’t in your face. He was more the silent but violent type. My only issue with Kellan, was literally his name, sometimes it is hard not to associate names with characters and a guitar wielding demon was not frightening at all, but that is just me. Kellan was a protector, his mission was keep the family under the radar and to live as normal a life as possible. He was particularly protective over Shay, her powers hadn’t come in and she was in denial. She lived like a human and wanted nothing to do with her ancestry.

“You love so hard and hate so cold.”

Shay was quiet and quite introverted, she knew what they were and didn’t want to acknowledge it or deal with it, but the older she got the more she had to fight against it. Shay always seemed a little different from the others, she didn’t have a bad bone in her body and it was her sense of right and wrong that really scared the twins, Gus and Vespar.

Gus and Vespar were thick as thieves, the evil oozed from these two at times. These two were twins and their bond was strong and these two definitely screamed trouble.

Tijan paints a story of good versus evil in this battle to rid the world of demons and angels who believe power is the be all and end all. Who to trust, who to believe, there are no allies in this battle, or at least not who you would expect. You not only have good versus evil but evil versus evil and good versus good. Boundaries are well and truly crossed in this tale.

“What else does your grandmother have up her sleeve?”

I have read a fair few paranormal and while I couldn’t put this one down I would have loved a little more. A little more background in particular to really be able to comprehend the hierarchy and the situations that they come to find themselves in. While it was fairly easy to get the general gist I had to re-read parts to try and grasp what was actually going on at times. However, for me, this was unputdownable. I was totally whisked away as Kellan and Shay unite and fight. While their relationship was a bit blurry in the beginning it soon becomes apparent all is not what it seems. However, their transition from one to the other was a bit quick and could have been explained a little better, or at least earlier. None the less, I loved it, I zoomed through it and at the end all I wanted was more. This has the potential to become a great series and I am hoping that Tijan gives us more of this duo.

As a good friend of mine would say, "I've been TIJANED" by EVIL. This is only the second book by Tijan that I've read, but I really need to change that. She knows how to write captivating stories that I love. I didn't go back to read the blurb, so I had no clue what to expect. No worries though, Tijan didn't let me down. Once again I was engrossed into this story, reading page after page wanting to get to the end to find out what happens.

"The Braden siblings were famous in our little community of Poehler, but not really known—by anyone."

The story is about four siblings who are in high school and who everyone either fears or adores. Most people know not to mess with the Braden family. Those who didn't, learned quickly.

Giuseppe (Gus) and Vespar are twins and the youngest, Shay is the middle child and then the oldest is Kellan. Kellan was very mysterious, totally alpha and saw it as his responsibility to watch over all of his siblings, especially Shay since she hadn't come into her powers yet. This led Kellan and Shay to have a strong bond together, one that the twins didn't like even though they too had their own bond.

"I wasn’t normal. No one in my family was, but it would’ve been nice… to know what normal felt like.

Shay was different than her siblings. She looked and acted differently. Gus and Vespar liked using their powers. They were demons after all. Or were they? Shay knew she had powers, but she didn't use them and because of that she didn't know how to control them. She knew she wasn't normal, but she did her best to live a normal life. The twins didn't like this about her. They also knew that she and Kellan were the strongest and most powerful of the four siblings which scared them.

Shay's want to be normal is a side effect from a spell that was put on her as a kid. It hides who she really is and all of the things in her life that she doesn't want to remember. But when those memories begin to come back, she has no choice but to face her past and who she really is. Coming to terms with who she was wasn't going to be an easy task. There were others who wanted her powers. Shay wasn't sure who she could trust.

"Something was coming, and it was going to hurt us, it's time to fight."

I love a good angels and demons story and Tijan gave that to me. There was constant action and drama going on. I felt like Shay throughout this story because I never really knew who to trust either. However, I have to confess, I'm in love with a demon. There was just something about Kellan that drew me to him, wanting to know more. If you like PNR or even the angels versus demons trope like I do then give this one a shot.

"We were strong separately, but when we were together, we were impenetrable. Just like our love for the other."

Well, I simply don’t know where to start!! I’m going to be honest, apart from a little dabble with a certain Vampire series, EVIL is MY FIRST paranormal read! And OH MY GOODNESS – what a wonderful, fantastic, consuming and addictive ride Tijan managed to take me on! She has introduced me to a genre that I had no experience of. I went in totally blind with no expectations (apart from a niggling feeling and concern of “what if I don’t like it?”, and came out totally in love with the characters, completely in love with the storyline, in love with Tijan’s words, even more in love with Tijan herself (she’s just proved that I will read ANYTHING she writes)….. and a little bit in love with the Paranormal!!!

I was drawn into this book and the storyline from the very first page. EVIL is based around the well known, stunningly beautiful, popular yet feared, Braden family living in the community of Poehler. They are all at school together and we have Shay, Kellan, Vespar and Guiseppa (Gus).

This story will take you on a massive roller-coaster of a journey through the eyes of Shay. Shay and Kellan have a strong bond and embark on a journey of discovery, lies, betrayals, family loyalties, friendships, soul-finding, and love. We discover the world that Shay, Kellan and the rest of the Braden’s live in is not all that it seems. Shay discovers she is not who she thinks she is, and she discovers that her family are not who she thinks they are either. The story is full of mystery, suspense and romance. There is constant action and drama, with the story-line weaving in and out, creating a wonderful tale, allowing the readers imagination to take hold and become immersed in this world.

Honestly, I fell in love with it ALL. I’m not going to say any more about the story itself as I think everyone should discover and experience this book for themselves. And if you’ve not read paranormal before, I suggest you start with this one! The characters are fantastic and I simply could not put it down. I devoured it from beginning to end and I’m off to check out Tijan’s other paranormal books now!! Thank you Tijan for yet another fabulous read!

***** For me, a 100% 5 STAR READ!!! *****

This was good, kinda of messy and too PG13 for my liking, but I wanted to read the new crossover with Anti-stepbrother, and I couldn't read a crossover without the original stories involved... so there's that.

Anti-stepbrother is one of my favorites by Tijan, and now I'm ready 😂

Warning: A rant follows!

Before we get started, I feel the need to make something clear to fellow readers who may come across this review: I've never had the highest opinion of Tijan's work. Never.
Some years ago a friend coerced me into reading Fallen Crest and later Carter Reed. Both, of which, were DNF's on my part.
Said friend loves everything this author puts out. I don't.

The good, bad, and ugly...RANT

Tijan's writing leaves much to be desired. I can't stress it enough. Every book I have read by this author is the same: bland, with monotone voices. The descriptions are halfassed, the dialogue stiff...POINT BLANK: I feel like I'm reading ramblings of a 14-year-old most of the time.

To add insult to injury, Evil is considered "paranormal"...so world building isn't "optional". It's a have-to type of thing, and remember, descriptions aren't this author's strong suit....

I don't know where I went wrong with this one. Everyone really loves this author's work, they defend it etc....Yet every time I see one of her covers pop up on Amazon I can't help but cringe.

DNF at 3%....

I tell you what this book had me hooked right away. I wanted to know what the heck was going on!

Tijan has a way of just giving you enough to make you scratch your head and want more. And I couldn’t put this book down. Though I did have to sleep, :( but then I dreamed of Kellan. Hahah.

Kellan is a mysterious fella and you don’t truly understand his intentions until the end. I freaking loved that, because I kept second guessing everything.
I very much liked how different it was from most paranormal books. It really kept me engaged and hungry for more.

Let us talk narration, I am a fan. I think Jorjeana’s voice is perfect for Shay and all the different characters she brought to the book were spot on.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I had the pleasure of reading this book on the journey back on a long car trip. It was a perfect companion for the drive! This book is listed as a paranormal new adult book, but I would list is as a paranormal young adult book with some strong sexual situations. While there were a few sex scenes, they weren't shared by the main characters, which is why I think I would designate the difference. Once you delve into the story, you will understand.

We have a "family" with loose bonds that we meet from the beginning. We know they are family but we aren't certain what they are or how they are related to each other. They are allegiances within the siblings. We have Shay and Kellan and Giuseppa and Vespar. The book is told from Shay and Kellan's points of view. We know they are not human...or 100% human, that is. They attend high school with normal people and Shay is disgusted with how her siblings treat their classmates. While they are picture perfect models of beauty, Shay shies away from the limelight or attention, unlike her siblings. And while she does disapprove of how her siblings treat people, Kellan and her have a very strong bond, so strong that they share emotions and can feel each others presence. They don't share that with the other two, Gus and Vespar, who are more volatile than Kellan.

Shay is just coming to her "powers." She has been suppressing them and that makes her a liability to her siblings who have a better handle on theirs. Very early in the book, it is revealed that they are a family of demons living among humans. But Shay...she is more powerful than the rest of them. Why? This is something she needs to discover. And to discover it, she needs to tap into her powers and uncover her past.

Overall, this was a SOLID 4.5 read. Sometimes, I waver with the 1/2 stars, never knowing where to land on them. I wouldn't rate it a 5 because I felt like some of the elements weren't as put together or as cohesive as I wished they would be (however, I did read an unedited ARC version, so please bear this in mind). Also, I wish the ending were a bit more elaborated on. I felt like the big climax was rushed.

I got a big Obsidian/ Lux trilogy feel from this book, but with demons and not aliens. If you enjoyed that series, I feel like you would enjoy this book.

I love Tijan's work but this just didn't do it for me.

1. I didn't realize this was a paranormal until I started reading it. This wasn't a bad thing because I love paranormal romance, but I was surprised.

2. The hero Kellan and heroine Shay are brother and sister. Yeah Shay learns they aren't really siblings later on but how do you go from believing he's your blood brother to lusting and loving him.... -gags-. This was not realistic and very icky. Plus Kellan knew he wasn't Shay's brother the entire time (he knew they are bonded soul mates) so why did he let her believe they were siblings her whole life?

It's just gross AF.

And if he has been with her the whole time because he's her soul mate then how could he sleep with other girls?! The romance just wasn't good at all.

3. The story was just. . . dull. Nothing exciting or nail biting happened and the plot was a little ridiculous; from the brother sister romance, to the invisible parents because of a spell (what a convenient way to not write in the parents), to the other "siblings" and their lack of caring for each other at all, and to the Angels, Demons, and Nephilim. It all just didn't work for me.

The only thing that kept me interested was the mystery about who Shay really was, it's what kept me reading on until the end.

Overall this was just "okay", nothing to write home about. I've read much better Angel/Demon stories.

Original paranormal romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥
Chemistry: 🧪🧪🧪🧪🧪
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: ☹️😮😋😄🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Shay - she is a Braden and the Braden’s are different than everyone else in their school. They are looked up to, revered and feared. They are mysterious; what everyone else doesn’t know is that they have demon blood, they are not completely human. Though Shay is different from her siblings. Kellan, Vespar and Giuseppa are all tanned and blonde, with the look of golden gods, while Shay is pale with black hair. Vespar and Giuseppa are twins and have a bond. Shay and Kellen have their own bond and Kellan always protects Shay, who rarely uses her powers, though has the strongest powers of them all.

The Hero: Kellan - he is at the top of the hierarchy at school, all the girls want him, but they know not to expect anything after a night with him. Kellen is a senior, while Shay is a junior and the twins are sophomores. They use people and don’t feel bad about it. They are all beautiful on the outside but dark on the inside. Kellen has always looked out for Shay. He could also feel it when Shay was experiencing strong emotions.

The Story: Shay loves to paint, though she doesn’t tell her siblings anything about it. She likes the way her mind completely stops the minute she picks up a brush. The art teacher lets her into the studio whenever Shay needs to paint and sells Shay’s paintings at the small gallery she owns. She has said that Shay creates masterpieces ever since she first saw Shay doodling and introduced her to painting. Shay’s mind goes away while painting and returns when she is done.

There are other strange things in their family. At one point Shay says that she her parents are never around, it only has been the four of them. Yet Guiseppa says that their parents are around all the time. Shay has also been experiencing some weird things, she has been hearing voices warning her of things and she had a tattoo on her wrist that appeared and disappeared at odd times. She learns that she isn’t a demon, which scares her, because others know what she is, but she doesn’t because she isn’t ready.

This was an odd story, but I liked it, Tijan doesn’t do that many paranormal stories, so I was intrigued. Shay was a likable character and very relatable. She wasn’t as dark inside as the rest of her family, and she was happy to learn she wasn’t a demon, but she was always drawn to Kellan. It got really weird when their inner beings came out of them like they were separate entities. Though overall this was an extremely original paranormal romance, and I really liked all the characters and the action.

This audiobook was told mostly in Shay’s point of view via solo narration and was narrated by Jorjeana Marie. I like her voice; it is soft and feminine and very pleasant. She is also able to use different voices for different characters. She also sounds age appropriate for Shay who is a junior in high school.

3.5 stars!

This book really held me captive. I think it’s been awhile since I’ve read a paranormal book. It’s all just been the same, and nothing has captured my attention recently. When I saw that Tijan was the author of this book, I just had to buy it and read it.

I didn’t know what to expect. The synopsis was vague, and I guess that’s what compelled me to give this a shot. This was a highly entertaining read. Something was always happening and I really enjoyed it.

It’s time to get critical. I did like this book, but I had some problems with it. You may think that I may be complaining too much about this book, and why I still gave it a four stars despite all the complaints I had with it, well it’s simple. If I enjoy a book, I’ll give it a high rating. I enjoyed this book, so it gets 3.5 stars. Okay I’m babbling again, let’s jump into it.

The following paragraphs contain spoilers. If you do not want to be spoiled, please do not continue reading.

First, the bond between Kellan and Shay. They were siblings at first, but suddenly they weren’t anymore. I didn’t feel the transition. I felt like this part was just glossed over. One minute they were siblings, the next they weren’t. I also didn’t really feel the intense love they had for each other.

Second, Shay did not question things enough. It’s like she doesn’t even care what’s happening to her. Oh, you’re not my brother, kay. Oh, I’m not a demon, kay. Oh, so my mother’s dead and my father wants to kill me, kay. Oh, you’re my soulmate but you’ve been sleeping with other girls while you knew the entire time, kay. FRUSTRATING.

Third, this complaint of mine is directed to almost all of the books that Tijan has written. There are certain information that is never explained. It’s like she expects the readers to just know and understand. Unfortunately, I don’t.

I felt like the ending was open ended. There could be a second book. Would I read it? Yes, because despite all of its flaws, it was really enjoyable.

There was absolutely no chemistry between Kellan and Shay. None. I don't even know if they have feelings for each other. They're soulmates and have bonded, but other than that? This bothered me, because the romance of this book just fell flat. It was nonexistent.

I hated it that Kellan was a manwhore. He knew from the very moment they met (when Shay was 6 years old) that they were soulmates. But does he wait for her? Nope. He screws everything that comes his way. Sometimes repeatedly. And then he sometimes tells her about it. Ew... Not my thing.

The plot was ok. I just hated how many characters died and that suddenly everyone turned evil.

I didn't hate the book per se, I just couldn't connect to the characters and the plot. I loved Tijans Fallen Crest series and her Carter Reed books, so I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. Even if this one was a miss.

This book is written by Tijan author who also wrote the series Fallen Crest. First of all I love the ways she writes and has great story flow. Tijan is also great at creating great stories that involve girls that can hang with the boys and put them in they’re place.

This book is a Demon related book. 65% of the book you are pretty much clueless. Your like what? I dont understand???. Tijan really had you guessing through this book. The reason I did not give it the 5 stars is because the 2 love intrests in this book need more. This couple was strong. She was strong and he was strong...they had that love that challenged each other...but they both needed that hardcore passion/...which I felt lacked.

So the book begins with Shay Braden who is one of four demon sibiling that attend highschool. Shay plays a head strong female that likes to not play by the rules. Kellan Braden is th big alpha demon in this group of siblings and has many secrets and loves for his rules to be followed. The story is about finding your soulmate.

3.5 "KELLAN" STARS.

This was my first Tijan's book. It was good, but not that oh so good for me.
I blame myself. I think that my expectations were so high that it did not allow me to enjoy the book at all.
Mysterious? Yes.
Intriguing? Yes.
Romance? A tiny little bit.
Did I love the characters? Kellan? Oh yeah. He was the only character, right? Sorry, but he was the only thing I could think whilst reading it. KELLAN, KELLAN, KELLAN!!!

Anyway, I feel that Kellan deserved more of what he got. *Yes, I'm a little obsessed, here* So please, Tijan, could you write another book for him? It's ok if you have to include Shay. I just want more of him!!!!!

Even though this one was not oh so wow for me, I'm definitely reading more from this author.
