It's hard being a new mom on a barren, wintry planet. How about a mom...times two? Nora has to find a way to juggle babies, her mate, and friendships while catching the occasional nap. Can she get her groove back?
This is one of the Slice of Life Short Stories set in the ICE PLANET BARBARIANS series and does not stand alone. It should be read after BARBARIAN'S MATE.
Ruby Dixon is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She likes fated mates, baby-filled epilogues, and cinnamon roll heroes. She also likes to write biographies of herself in the third person, because it feels more important that way.
Ruby also loves coffee and dirty books and will probably be a cat lady at some point. :)
Nora had her twins Anna and Elsa during the book "Ice Planet Holiday". Now she and her mate Dagesh need to adjust to their new life as parents. Another couple who did not have a full length book, now they have a short novel story. Short and cute!
📖 Bookish Thoughts We finally got to spend some time with Nora—and her twin babies! This was such a cozy little slice-of-life moment for her and Dagesh. It was sweet, simple, and exactly what I wanted from a novella like this. I also loved that we got a bit more of Asha (still complicated, still messy, but she’s also struggling).
And listen… I will never not laugh at the fact that she named the babies Elsa and Anna.
When Ruby Dixon drops a slice of life short story out of the blue. (haha out of the blue, get it?)
I really liked Nora, she was very sweet and understanding. She didn't get insecure or doubt her relationship too much, she seemed to know how Dagesh felt and it was nice to see that it wasn't a story about huge misunderstandings. I'm quite curious for Asha and Hemalo, I hope they find other mates or learn to get along..
Ice Ice Babies is a short story in the Ice Planet Barbarians series. It features Nora and her mate Dagesh plus their twins Anna and Elsa. This is another couple who did not have their own full length novel, but we did get to see them and the twins born in Ice Planet Holidays.
Here we get to see the doubts, fears and insecurities that Nora has. It’s tough being a mother let alone a mother to twins and when your mate stops paying attention to you and leaves as soon as he’s up, well that adds stress. We also got to see Dagesh side of what he is feeling and why he is leaving to go hunting every day all day long.
We also get to see Nora befriend Asha who is mated, but doesn’t love her mate. Everyone see’s her as the bitchy women, but we get to see so much more when these two becomes friends. Another side to Asha.
A fun little novella for anyone who enjoys the Ice Planet Barbarians series. A quick read about a couple who was mated from the very beginning. Their life after with their twin daughters. Also a bit from the other humans and their alien mates!
Another novella where we see a couple that doesn’t have a full length book- and I enjoyed it.
Nora had her twins months ago, but she feels a disconnect between her and her mate Dagesh. Dagesh is working his a$$$$$$$ off to bring in meat for the brutal season 😅 (aka winter lol) and he fears they won’t have enough supplies or resources to survive 🫠. He especially fears it because he not only had one baby’s mouth to feed, but two of them, AND his mate? Even more pressure 😬.
So he’s gone so much and Nora misses her mate soooooo much.
They need to reconnect
I loved: —how realistic taking care of twins was shown 😭 —how hardworking Dagesh is 🫶 —all the girls with their babies —Asha might not be so bad after all 😅 —the twins names 😭 Anna and Elsa 😅🫶
I wanted more of: —more 🔥 (only one scene at the VERY end lol) —for it to be longer
Nora and Dagesh’s family doubled when she gave birth to twin girls, Ana and Elsa. They both feel understandably overwhelmed and exhausted. Nora wants Dagesh to acknowledge her as his beloved once again, but he is too wrapped up in preparing for brutal season. She is worried that life with kids isn’t going to be the happily-ever-after she imagined. Does Dagesh still find her attractive? Does he still want her the way he did before the girls? It isn’t until she makes friends with unlikely person that she sees what Dagesh does. There is still hope for them after all.
Once again, Ruby knocks it out of the park with her Ice Planet Barbarians series. It is funny because my review for the last book clearly stated that I did not relate to the heroine at all. This time I felt like Nora and I could have been the same person. Most moms probably could. I literally wanted to crawl into this book and give her a big hug – and maybe smack Dagesh.
Omg, these books are a mood. Dagesh works nonstop for his mate and twin daughters before the brutal season. Nora leaves her babies with Asha to babysit for a while to so that Nora can have some relaxing and sexy time. Nora goes for a different looks because grew out her dyed bleach blonde hair and cuts it up to her natural brown hair. She learns about herbs from her friend Asha and forms a friendship with the lonely alien girl. Asha and Dagesh reconnect and everything is good in ice paradise.
I don't read Novellas but with Ice Planet Barbarians series, it seems like I'm making lots of exceptions. First I picked up Alien series and now I'm reading everything written wrt it. *sigh*
this is story of Nora and Dagesh and their twins Anna and Elsa. I also liked how I got to know little bit about Asha as well - like it said 'every story has two sides' and now we have been offered with bit of Asha's as well. It is not entire story (and mind you, I won't say no to that), but I hope to get Asha's entire story someday.
In the meantime, Nora + Dagesh = Amazing cute little story!
All of these novellas focus on couples that were bypassed in the main books. Cute little “after the HEA” tidbits to keep me satisfied while I wait for the next book to come out. Only to read if you’re a fan of the entire series because they are not standalones.
Meh. I wasn't really into Nora and Dagesh's story. Probably because it was mostly about lack of communication and that's drama llama nonsense. The addition of Asha in this story was ok, but I don't feel like much was explained about her and why her relationship sucks. And I can't like her after she kept hitting on Aehako.
Short and sweet and kind of deep. After having twins Norah is feeling neglected and alone. She is always tired. Always feeding a crying baby. Always on the brink of crying herself. Her mate, Dagesh, is also feeling the pressure he is hunting day and night terrified his girls won’t have enough food.
These two were super sweet. Their love was so strong but they put a lot of pressure on themselves. They just needed to talk and reconnect. Also, the babies were super cute!!!!!
I love reading about the 'slice of life' stories of these hot blue aliens and their human mates and now they babies they have!!! I'm still extremely curious as to why they haven't decided to move out closer to the ocean area where it is warmer and they don't have to worry about the 'brutal' season. But I think there may be a story there because some of the previous books allude to it and the 'island' that was seen out in the distance. And why don't they trek back there and cannibalize parts to of that ship to fix the mother ship? So many questions that still need answers...I can't wait to read more!
Nice little insight into the lives of new parents Nora and Dagesh. They are both exhausted. Nora is a new mother of twin girls and is finding it difficult especially on an ice planet with no luxuries. Dagesh on the other hand is paranoid of not being able to provide for his family. He's a man on a mission, but he must realize that Nora doesn't just need food...she needs her mate.
Nora and Dagesh are new parents to twins! Little Anna and Elsa (fitting names as they live on an icy, snowy planet). I enjoyed their short story and also sad they never had a full book!
Awwww I'm so glad Ruby Dixon did a short about Nora & Dagesh with their twin babies. It was truly a sweet short read. I'm glad that Nora started talking to Asha. I feel so bad about her. I hope we get book about and her mate and why they hate each other hopefully they can get over their differences
