3.5 stars. Well written. A good example that books aimed for young children 7+ don’t have to be dumbed down.

Author set the scene of a nice quiet town with simple people and simple professions and introduced us to an endearing candle selling protagonist.

A quick read with the words flowing smoothly with just the right amount of descriptions being neither bland nor cumbersome.

Point of improvement could be the resolution where conveniently one of the characters just so happened to have a kite they needed. Could have been setup more properly perhaps if the protagonist bumped into that girl early on while she was flying the kite rather than just bumping into her. Also, if the villain had spotted the actual dragon flying earlier thus would have an overwhelming desire to capture it rather than just randomly seeing a dragon/kite later on and running off to chase it. Little things that could have tied things nicely rather than happening just because.

I thought that this book was awesome. I think that Natasha was actually friendly and was trying to hide her shyness by being bossy. She was almost as eager as Poppy to help the magic foxes. I feel sorry for Natasha ,though, because I think she felt left out and sad when Poppy showed Natasha her speaking stone. Natasha didn't have one and I think she might have been a little upsert. My favourite charcters are Poppy and Natasha because they were just so eager and keen to help the little magic foxes. Sir Friztoy is horrid to hate the magical animals so much. I reccomend this book to eveeyone as it is awesome and amazing.

Cute addition

In this story we meet Poppy! Lucas and Talia give her a stone and it excites her because she wants to protect her scarlet foxes!
A baby gets left behind when he was too scared to follow his parents. Maybe that was a blessing seeing as hi s family is captured 🙀
But Poppy comes to the rescue & even gains a reluctant helper.
I loved the creativity with the kite dragon hehe
It ended up inspiring the town 😄

Let's call it a 3.75 - serialized and intended for the really young, but better than I expected it to be. A secret cadre of kids talk to magic animals using magic stones and save them from an evil knight; I'll take this over rainbow fairies any day.

Poppy has a secret - she knows there are magical foxes in a tree that need help from Sir. Fritzy, who is trying to capture the animals. Can Poppy help the animals escape before Sir Fritzy captures them? One problem - the smallest animal, Little Paw, is too small to run.
