ETA: I keep thinking about this - I also got frustrated because their initial meeting was entirely off page. The story starts with Taz getting the call about being a bodyguard, and picks up next chapter with him already working for Storm. It bothered me.
In romance stories I love the whole “bodyguard and his charge fall in love” trope. So I was excited to come across this story – and in audio! Add into the mix it’s an interracial romance and, well, color me intrigued.
Balthazar “Taz” Grant is a huge, gorgeous former Marine with eyes of silver and skin the color of good chocolate. Storm Ellison is the sexy scripted reality show star he’s been hired to guard. And...honestly, it all unraveled pretty quickly for me. I wasn’t engaged, I didn’t care about the characters, the narration alternated between being too slow then abruptly becoming too fast. The one nice thing I can say about the narration is the character voices were well done for the most part.
There are quite a few contradictions in the story-telling. Two examples: when we first meet Taz he is the color of milk chocolate, but when Storm describes him he’s the color of dark chocolate. Storm is a “superstar” who just won an Emmy for the scripted reality show he’s been on three seasons, and hosted the Emmy’s, but he’s then described as a “star on the rise”.
I was super frustrated by the slow burn and Taz and Storm fighting their attraction to one another for so freaking long. Also, be forewarned – there is on page sex with other people and sex while thinking about other people. Both of which are major turn-offs for me, especially in a romance!
The plot was frustrating and kind of all over the place, random characters showed up and were hard to follow, the best friend was way too involved and spotlighted (though it was nice for a female character not to be vilified in a M/M Romance for once), and the timelines were weird and hard to follow. All of which kept drawing me out of the story to shake my head, roll my eyes, or have to backtrack to figure out what the hell was going on.
Another frustration came from the Hispanic housekeeper, who I think was supposed to be for comic relief at times, but I didn't care for her portrayal. But that may be me being oversensitive.
Bottom line: If you’re into interracial slow burn romances where details don’t really matter and you aren’t bothered by cheesy dialogue – you might like this story.
I cannot recommend it.

A review by The Blogger Girls.
This is the first NON-BDSM book I’ve read by Ms. Logan, and I quite enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of alpha ex-military turned bodyguards, and Taz fits that bill perfectly. He is strong, a bit mysterious, super smexy and totally droolworthy. He decides to change things up a bit when he takes on a more long-term position as bodyguard to Hollywood star, Storm. He goes into it thinking his biggest hurdle will be dealing with the guy as portrayed by the tabloids. He quickly learns Storm is not all the media has made him out to be, and his challenge becomes keeping things professional.
Storm is a sweet guy, and even though he isn’t the big gay playboy the public thinks he is, he does quite a bit to uphold that image, though much is to the insistence of his manager. He has the usual star issues of people not liking or wanting to be with him, as much as who he is. The one exception to this is his bff, Jules. She’s a bit of a ditz, but she’s a good friend to Storm.
Storm and Taz are attracted to each other fairly early, but, as I said, Taz tries pretty hard for some time to keep things professional. Eventually they give in, and Storm begins to rely on Taz more and more as the trust grows.
In the meantime, there are some shady characters also involved in Storm’s life, from his manager and agent to his yoga guru. It takes some digging by Taz to bring things to light, causing quite a bit of drama.
This was a fast-paced read with bits of mystery/suspense, humor and some hot and smexy moments. Even though most of it was pretty predictable, it kept me engaged through to the end. There was sexual tension and slow burn throughout. While this is an interracial story, I can honestly say I had not pictured Taz the way he is portrayed on the cover, though I’m not exactly sure why. I am definitely looking forward to more bodyguard action in this series though, especially if there are more alphas like Taz coming.

I did not want it to end. I really enjoyed their chemistry and they were so hot together. I love bodyguard books and I love my men in books tall, big and alpha. When Taz lost his heart he was a big teddy bear, I loved it! I really liked Storm, I just think he was lost a bit until he met Taz, I did want to bop them both in the head to tell them to hurry up and get together already. It really was a great book...

4 star story. 5 star narration!!
A really good narrator can bring a story to life and make it a really enjoyable experience for the listener and of course that was the case with this book.
I hadn't come across this author before and so I was a bit wary about whether I would enjoy it or not but I shouldn't have worried. The story was actually quite good (four stars) and the narrator was excellent (five stars).
And the story was very entertaining - serious in places, amusing in others and totally engaging from beginning to end.
Storm is a young, gay TV star whose fame is rising. His agent employs a body guard, Taz, to protect Storm from his growing numbers of well meaning fans, stalkers and other threats.
Despite his popularity and fame Storm has insecurities and difficulties of his own that are not seen by his adoring fans and Storm is also deeply attracted to Taz.
Taz is a highly professional body guard and thinks that Storm is just another spoilt, promiscuous playboy but as he gets to know Storm he begins to see the beautiful loving man beneath the glittering facade and he begins to struggle with his own attraction to Storm.
This is an enjoyable bodyguard love story with a frisson of mystery within, with entertaining drama and some fabulous characters. The narrator did an excellent job and each character sounds very different and their different personalities are made real for the listener. The narration drew me into the story, made it interesting and also brought the story to life.
I didn't feel that the story was too long and I didn't get bored either. I generally find that some sex scenes can become tedious but with this narration they simply became part of the story.
I thought the mystery part of the story was a bit obvious but this didn't detract from my listening pleasure.
All in all this is a lovely story and a really lovely audiobook!

1.75 stars and I'm being generous
Telling telling telling
Mixed race couple cool.
I don't need to know every single thing he does.
The actor wins an Emmy for best actor in a drama, portraying someone not himself, on a reality show? Isn't that an oxymoron? How is it a reality show? Oh, because it's scripted. All reality shows are somewhat scripted.
This is so poorly written. The segues are abrupt, no connection from telling to present at all. The scene where they meet is off page, which in a romance is ridiculous. I want to know what their initial reactions are. I also think it's weird to then go back and tell the reader everything the bodyguard insisted on but no emotional stuff whatsoever. If the other reviews hadn't said so many good things about the couple together, I'd ditch the book now.
Now I being told what they each felt when they met and very loosely what they talked about. Why didn't the author just have the scene so we could see not be told?
Major grammatical errors.
Colonics?? That's so bad for you and based on quack medicine. It's been scientifically discredited. We're supposed to have bacteria in our bodies. Without it, we can get really, really sick.
So much back story on every character!
The banter is forced.
This female character is taking center stage too often. I also don't need to know how pretty her lips are or whatever every other sentence.
Be forewarned--one of the MCs has sex scenes with other people.
The way they've described Taz, he is not a bear, not at all. Nor has Storm been with a "small" bear. Does the author know what a bear is? Big and hairy, usually overweight.
I think the author likes the woman better than either of the MCs. The narrative describes how wondrrful, how pretty, how sweet she is in most paragraphs about her. This is an M/M romance. I like that there are women and that they're good people, but I balk when the staid gay security guard thinks of the woman as "scrumptious." She's in almost every scene.
Now I'm halfway done and a minute after writing that comment above, I came upon a large paragraph solely saying how and in what way she us so wonderful. Seriously, a character this important should be in the blurb. It's incredibly annoying. There is probably a fourth as much time praising both the MCs put together. I'm not exaggerating. If you are really into the woman, then right ménage or het romance.
Oh, did I mention that Storm thinks of her as his soul mate?
At the beginning we were told he'd been working for Storm for a month. A lot of nights have passed and it's now been 30 days?
Taz and Storm made out and Taz afterwards said it can't happen, and now Storm is desperate to see if Taz has an interest in him as well.
So trite. All stars except this one are spoiled and selfish. The actor MC never does drugs and reads a lot. The bodyguard wears sunglasses all the time. The star's manager is constantly falling over himself to tell the actor how great he is.
Finally a paragraph about how wonderful one of the MCs is.
Awesome bit about evil pharmaceutical companies' practices while still explaining how necessary psychotropic medicine is to people with serious mental health disorders. People who rant against those kinds of drugs in generalities, don't really understand how those people who need them would otherwise be in mental institutions their whole lives or dead. I'm not talking about specific drugs or people, but Prozac changed the world.
Every woman so far is tiny. You know, a woman could be Amazonian and still be wonderful.
Do people really believe what they read in the tabloids? I mean college educated well read, works travelled people like the bodyguard?
Ok, I'm one of those people who often comments that there's tooych sex. But here, we see their first encounter, which is just BJs and then are told afterwards that after that they had intercourse. That's an important scene!
Seriously? Storm has been invited to his boyfriend Taz's parents for a BBQ and the woman I've mentioned shows up and he just invited her along? No asking if it was ok, no checking in with Taz's parents, not asking Taz in private so he wasn't put on the spot, nothing. Oh, and now Storm is even calling it a date. If they get married, will she go on the honeymoon, too?
Stop telling me how wonderful she is! I'm beginning to hate her. No one is that perfect and no one constantly over and over every day thinks about how wonderful a particular friend is when it's same old same old.
Why would you peel a potato after its cooked?
Fourth woman introduced and she is also petite. Oh, and mother to a man who is 6'5".
Self harm. Cool that it was touched on but not well. And now he's saying he hasn't even thought about it since the two starting dating which was TWO DAYS AGO. Wait, now he's saying a few days. Oh, now he's saying last night.
Why did she use the name of an author as a TV director, thanking her in the credits for letting her use the name? The movie isn't even a title of one of her books. That's kind of odd. Then she put herself as the screenwriter. That's kind of self aggrandizing. Both just yanked me out of the story each time the names came up.
I hate the term wife-beater, but it's a tank top, not a tee shirt.
Guy lives 15 minutes away. He says to pick him up in 30. Taz leaves immediately and promises himself and Storm he'll be back in 30.
Of course he'd die for him. He's a damn bodyguard. That's their job!
Aw crap, so much room for good peril in this scenario, and there was promise of some big it was so short and no one got hurt. Bleh.
I never felt the chemistry so when they confess their undying love, it doesn't sit right. The telling of how they felt was belief be the actions.
Okay, fifth woman character who is also tiny. This is so offensive.

3.5 STARS FOR A STAR!
I enjoyed this book and loved the idea but it was a bit jumpy for me, and I'm still not quite sure how certain events came to fruition, but overall an ok book.

This was the first book I have read from this author and it won't be my last. I loved this book. It has alpha males, a sexy superstar, suspense, romance, story twists. Everything I could want in a great book! The guys are hot, and their relationship is full of sparks. I couldn't get enough!
Storm is the mid twenty, superstar of a T.V. series, and he is on the cusp of becoming a movie star in a big screen gay romance. The press paints him as a spoiled, out of control, player who drinks and does drugs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Okay, he is a player. But he is young and single, and he doesn't have any family since his adoptive parents were killed.
Balthazar Grant, otherwise known as Taz, is a hunky former military guy working as a private body guard. He got into it through some friends, and his buddy has called and let him know of a sweet gig guarding a Hollywood star. The money is great, so he decides to go for it.
Storm is quickly attracted to Taz, but since Taz always wears his mirrored sunglasses and is always formal, he has no idea if the man is gay or not, or what he is thinking about. Storm quickly finds himself questioning what he has been doing with men because he cares what Taz thinks of him. Also, Storm has a hard time trusting people, so he doesn't know how to see his body guard. The only person he really trusts is his best friend, Jules, who has known him before he was famous. Taz is having a tough time because he is wildly attracted to Storm, but he has a job to do. They butt heads a few times before they get to understanding each other. Something is fishy in Taz's eyes in regards to the people around Storm. He has his buddy Rome look into it, and what he finds out has Taz fearing for Storm's safety. Can they work together and stop the threat that is facing Storm? Or will trouble destroy them before they can fix it? Will Taz be able to let his guard down enough to let Storm into his life?
This book is such a great read. I have read it twice already and I know I will be reading it again before long. If you love a hot steamy read with all the fixings of a sexy tale with suspense and unpredictability, then this is a book for you!

Taz is having a tough time because he is wildly attracted to Storm, but he has a job to do. They butt heads a few times before they get to understanding each other. Something is fishy in Taz's eyes in regards to the people around Storm. He has his buddy Rome look into it, and what he finds out has Taz fearing for Storm's safety. Can they work together and stop the threat that is facing Storm? Or will trouble destroy them before they can fix it? Will Taz be able to let his guard down enough to let Storm into his life?
This book is such a great read. I have read it twice already and I know I will be reading it again before long. If you love a hot steamy read with all the fixings of a sexy tale with suspense and unpredictability, then this is a book for you!

Patricia Logan is a new author for me and I liked her writing style very much. The story was well-thought out and character-driven. It was a bit predictable, but definitely not boring.
I adored both Storm and Taz, the superstar and his bodyguard. Taz was strong and silent and so reticent at starting a relationship with Storm, even when everyone but Storm seemed to realize that’s what he wanted. Storm was a bit immature, but that was perfectly understandable given the world he lived in, and he was also caring and trusting, and so likeable you couldn’t not love him. And when they finally give into their attraction, boy, if they don’t make the pages sizzle! *fans self* It wasn’t just that, but the tenderness between them, too. It was loving and sweet, at the same time that it was hot, which gave it that extra-something that made me enjoy it even more.
Jules and Rebecca were fantastic secondary characters. Both were fun to read and provided some comic-relief and awesome interactions with Storm and Taz. And I adored Taz’s family, especially his mother, and how welcoming they were with Storm.
I particularly enjoyed the story in the second half when things started heating up between Taz and Storm and when the sub-plot with a nefarious Guru began unraveling. While I figured some of this sub-plot from the start, I hadn’t quite figured it all the twists and turns it will take and it blew me away.
This is definitely a book that I would read over and over and enjoy it all the same, and I’ll certainly be on the look-out for more of Patricia’s books, especially the ones that will follow in her Bodyguard Series.

I like a story with a big gruff bodyguard and Taz is just that and more. His job is to protect up and coming star of the screen Storm Ellison who has a reputation for being a bit of a whore. Storm is young, not as confident as he pretends and not at all like the tabloids portray him but it takes Taz a while to realise there is much more to his new charge than meets the eye.
Taz fancies Storm and Storm fancies Taz right back but they take their sweet time getting there and doing anything about it! Before they both wise up we see Storm with various other men and Taz trying to avoid being molested by the horny chauffeur. It’s slow burn, a little bit frustrating but eventually they get there and I have to say it was well worth the wait.
Alongside their dawdling relationship Storm is actually in danger from someone he trusts. There is mystery, although it was quite easy to work out who the bad guy was, and the lives of Storm and those closest to him are in danger. For such a sweet story the ending for the bad guy was pretty gruesome!
Narration Review:
Jonathan Young is a narrator that sounds as though he is having fun whilst reading. He did a great job with all the characters apart from one. I hated the voice of Jules, the very in your face and overbearing best friend. She sounded whiny, her voice grated and I got sick of her fast. Avendo letto questo libro anche in inglese non posso non dirvi che la resa italiana è fantastica.
In questo libro non abbiamo la solita Patricia Logan, niente BDSM, ma fantastico contemporaneo con un vero pizzico di ironia e sensualità.
I protagonisti sono Storm attore famoso del momento e Taz la sua guardia del corpo. Una storia che si prende i suoi tempi, dove vediamo la star viziata e capricciosa che ci aspetteremmo, ma dopo ci mettiamo poi due secondi per capire che così non è.
Due uomini che si rincorreranno, sul filo della passione. Un ragazzo che vuole essere amato è protetto è un uomo che non vuole far altro che proteggerlo.
Ho riso come una matta, non si può fare altro, perché Storm è circondato dalla sua migliore amica e dalla sua governante che sapranno essere un punto cardine per la sua vita!
Vedremo come Taz si farà avanti e come questa storia riporti a tante piccole notizie, come all' incrociarsi con storie che in futuro vedremo tradotte, e che sono davvero bellissime!
Come sempre la scrittrice riesce a farmi sorridere e ad innamorare, adoro le sue storie e come sempre non posso non condividere questa gioia nel dirvi, leggete questo libro, perché è davvero sublime..

seguo da tempo questa autrice, ho praticamente letto tutte le sue serie e devo dire che anche stavolta non mi ha deluso!stavolta la Logan ha creato una bella storia contemporanea senza attingere al suo vasto repertorio BDSM,anzi la storia è molto più sentimentale che bollente! Taz è un gran bel personaggio,un uomo tutto d'un pezzo che non faccio fatica a immaginare ai tempi dei Marines nella sua bella divisa!Storm non è il classico VIP spocchioso,anzi ha un gran cuore!personaggi secondari molto simpatici,mi riferisco alla migliore amica di Storm e alla fantastica governante che parla spagnolo e che ha la capacità di arrivare sempre al momento sbagliato!!

Patricia è riuscita a mescolare amore, omicidi e divertimento in un libro davvero imperdibile (e si è pure infilata lei come personaggio, unica XD).
Balthazar, Taz, è un ex marine diventato adesso una guardia di sicurezza privata e gli viene richiesto di proteggere Storm Ellison, giovane e sexy star televisiva.
L’inizio non è promettente fra i due, ma quando in un paio di occasioni Taz evita che Storm faccia scelte sbagliate, i due iniziano ad avere un buon rapporto professionale.
E se Storm all’inizio sembra la classica star viziata, proprio come lo descrivono i giornali, man mano che passa il tempo Taz capisce che non è così, e più lo frequenta più ne rimane affascinato; però si sa, mai mescolare il dovere con il piacere.
Ma complice una bottiglia di buon merlot…
Attorno a Storm ruotano molti personaggi: Rebecca, la domestica (una spassosissima donna che prepara panini di 30 cm… capirete leggendo), Juliana, migliore amica di Storm, Alan, l’agente di lui, Butch, il cagnolino dell’attore, Guru Shamsa, istruttore di yoga odiato da Butch, in parte la famiglia di Taz (la madre fa un’uscita spettacolare, l’avessero fatta a me avrei preso pala e piccone e avrei scavato una fossa enorme per nascondermici dentro) e Rome Wilkins, amico di Taz, e da quanto si legge alla fine prossimo protagonista XD.
Tutti questi personaggi s’intrecciano fra loro facendo sì che il libro, come dicevo prima, sia un ottimo mix si sensualità, divertimento e un pizzico di suspense.
Un romanzo da gustare come un buon vino… in attesa del prossimo (spero quello di Rome).

At first I thought it was gonna be like a small 3 stars but then the ending happened and it wasn't pretty :')
First I mostly enjoyed their relationship it was quite a slow burn at first, although once they got together things went from 0 to 100 really quickly.
One thing that was a annoying was the description. It happened a few times where something was described the exact same way several times, like Taz body or his family background, which was really unecessary.
The ending was ... I don't even know how to explain it. The way it was written it was so over top. The scam was obvious from the very beginning but the aftermath was a joke honestly. The Guru shamsa or whatever he's called come to the house with gasoline to burn Storm and himself and he's suddenly in love with Storm and wanted him all along ? Which makes me think most guys in this book were gay and either wanted to fuck Taz or Storm 😂
The epilogue is even cheesier with Taz finding Storm birth certificate or his birth name because he wanted to have his real name for their wedding. But how is a bodyguard supposed to find that when even the adaptation center didn't know about his real name ? It doesn't make any sense xD

Beautiful.
I enjoyed every nuke and cranny, every morsel, every inch of this book.
Although i had my moments when I made me want to scream at the characters.
These characters are well matched in every way, inch or form.😉
I really love Rebecca, especially when she saw something that will forever make her giggle and flush. The things she says and does oooh my she is the best.

The story is a fighting attractions and boss and employee situation. I loved Jules in this as Storm's freind. I enjoyed the storyline this is definitely a slow romance to happen. I loved the ending of this and look forward to reading book 2.

Io ci stó provando davvero a dare delle possibilità a questa scrittrice ma fin’ora non mi ha ancora convinta, ci sono sempre delle cose che mi fanno abbassare il punteggio, vedi rapporti con altre persone, buchi nella trama, leggerezze e cose scontate, qui ad esempio continuavo a pensare mentre leggevo che bisognava davvero essere un po idiotino per fidarsi di un guru che era scontato da subito che stasse truffando il protagonista e il manager poi era davvero troppo losco. Un protagonista, Storm, troppo stupidello per le mie corde.

Listened to this as an audiobook. The narrator really added to the enjoyability factor. He knew how to do different voices and tones really well to the point I though other people were narrating. You could tell also when something was said or a thought from the voice. It was also very funny at times. Kind of simplistic plot but that's why it made for a good audiobook.
Taz and Storm are crazy about each other (after a while) but it takes a while for them to act on it and get their act together.
There was a lot on yoga and it seemed a campaign for conventional medicine at time.
I liked that the relationship between secondary characters and the main characters featured in the plot.
In conclusion: Storm was an eager puppy and Taz was endeared, uncomfortable and sort of professional.

I usually love this type of story line. But it was often repetitive and seemed to lag. There are only so many times you can rinse and repeat before I get bored. I gave up at 66% for now I may or may not come back to it. But I love this author. 2.5 for what I read. I’ll reevaluate if and when I come back to it.

Mi è piaciuto questo primo volume della serie. Forse un po’ scontato, ma la storia di Taz e Storm mi ha coinvolta molto.
Purtroppo i pensieri dei personaggi e la narrazione non sono distinti. È un problema presente in tutti e tre i volumi, ma qui l’ho notato molto di più. Confonde il lettore e interrompe in alcuni punti la fluidità della storia, è davvero un peccato.

Pretty good story
The writing is pretty good here, nice character build and mostly realistic world. Not much mystery to the development of the antagonist, and it could use some continuity editing, but overall it was not bad at all.

I loved this book! This is one of those books where you really get to know the characters. I absolutely fell in love with Storm and Taz as they fell for each other. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author.
