Former mob hitman, Jack Winchester left NY after taking on the Sicilian Mob and is headed to LA to find John Dalton, a "friend" of his late friend & Dad Eddie.
He's not sure what he's planning going forward but once he arrives at the homeless mission on Skid Row, he's pulled into a fight with the Asian Triad's human smuggling operation "reclaiming runaways" right out of John Dalton's mission. This is not something he can just stand-by and watch so he takes them on and the bodies mount up.
Meanwhile an FBI agent is assigned to look into what happened in NY and trails Jack to LA thinking she'll get answers to what really happened especially after Jack's ex- Dana gives her a lot of info (this is what he gets for having saved her son in the last book).
There's lots of bloodshed and Agent Isabel is right on his trail but maybe Jack has found his calling if only he can evade the FBI.
Disclaimer. I had requested and received audible version of this book for free from the author, in exchange for an unbiased review.
What I liked about the book - This is a fast paced and action packed thriller. If you like Tom Cruise style out n out action movies, this is the book you'll definitely like. The scenes are woven together very well and moves the plot at break neck speed. There's not a single dull moment. The mystery element is also hefty and keeps you guessing at what will happen next.
What I disliked about the book - I would loved to see a little more complex characters.
Narration - Adam Gold's narration works very well for this content and it felt like listening to a movie.
Wow! I’ve read four of the Jack Winchester books and I couldn’t tell you how many bad guys Jack’s killed. This time it was the Chinese Triad that got on his bad side. AND now there’s an FBI agent after him. Yeah, I don’t like her! She has a smart-ass attitude, and her partner seems to be more interested in getting her into bed that capturing a triad member or Jack. I don’t like him either. I did like the cop Deon Smith. He was a really good cop. I liked John Dalton, too.
So, on to the next one, Hard to Kill, book 4.
No romance of any kind and the F-bomb was used 29 times.
As to the narration: Adam Gold does such a terrific job.
The first word of the title was carefully chosen, as was, I am sure, the character of the central character. It's good to know that whenever one popular series runs dry, there's another similar series nearby to keep my mind occupied and this is the fourth author to produce such satisfying vigilante violence in such a format. The length is convenient too, just enough to finish in one day without preventing the completion of life's other tasks.
A well thought out book. Jon ties everything together and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Underlying through the book is the struggle everyone faces... The fight between good and evil and where the line to be crossed is. For all action readers... You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to read the next!
I chose a 4 because I like romance in my books.I also like bad asp women. But I can tell a man wrote these books . These books are good (Yes I've read all 3so far), but there is a lot of violence and killing, and the women are incapacitated in one way or another in these books!!! BOO.....
Jack Winchester is trying to write his wrongs and do good deeds you have to read this book you won't be able to put it down that is why I gave it 5 stars I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
Another great read. Third book in the series, but already I am looking forward to the rest. JW is back and he is kicking ads and taking names! Very fast paced reading with lots of action! Jack has only begun. Awesome book!
This series gets better with each book. Jack has worked for the mob, he's a killer, but what he really wants is a quiet life with maybe a family, some one to love. A good read great ride
This is the third book in the series and it does not let down.Like the first two make sure you have a few hrs to spare before you pick it up because you will not be able to put it down.
Jon Mills does a good job with the Jack Winchester series. I enjoy these. Kinda like a vigilante series but entertaining. I like Jack, he’s trying to do the right thing for the most part. Recommend this book
It was a great book to read! It pulled me in, when I had to stop reading, I could pick it up later and be intrigued again within only moments! Thank you!
Jack is a man who can't turn away from people who need help. This is the third book in the series. I love these books. It would be nice if Jack found someone to be with .
The third in the series is another winner. Set in a new place, Jack is challenged by a different kind of mafia. Close calls and some new enemies on his tail make this another solid read. Onto #4...
It is getting better as you keep reading the novels in sequence. Action packed thriller with sufficient amount of emotion and fun, what else you need from this?
