I really wanted to love this so badly, purely because of the cover. If you're familiar with Amelita Rae, it's a good book, certainly not her best work. I wouldn't recommend it as a first book by her.
Because: the first sex scene is disturbingly non-consensual. Doesn't bother me, because you have to expect that kind of thing in books by this author, but I think it might put off a lot of readers.
Why I didn't find the book particularly great is somewhat due to the focus on the cars. It may sound strange, but the nerdy description of the great features of the sports cars made me super bored. 😒
Nevertheless, I love Jinsei. He is just like on the cover, very cute smart and devious.
The relationship that develops between him and Ishida and the glimpse into the future that you get at the end is quite amusing. I also felt sorry for the sports cars then. Read at your own risk!

I really don't need to say a lot since Miss Rae always deliver her pieces whether it's short or long. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Very erotic and lusty and quite funny too.

Bait: A Yaoi Adventure is the story of Jinsei, a car thief, and Ishida Daijiro, the billionaire who’s Lamborghini Jinsei is ordered to steal.



This is the second book by this author I’ve read, the other being, The Good Doctor, and I enjoyed this one more. The reason was this one had a plot and was more romantic, even though it contained what I consider a rape scene. Ishida ties Jinsei up and forces him to have sex even though Jinsei tells him he’s a virgin and Ishida doesn’t take it easy on Jinsei. Ishida does pleasure him, but Jinsei is still forced and Ishida does it bareback, which makes it worse. After the final conflict scene happens, Jinsei confronts Ishida about the rape. Unfortunately, he’s easily swayed that it was okay when Ishida kisses him. Then, something happens even more importantly so Jinsei forgives Ishida. I won’t reveal the reason, but I understand how Jinsei felt that a payment of having Ishida rape him was nothing compared to what Ishida did for Jinsei in return. By the end of the story, it isn’t just sexual attraction between the two that keeps them together. They care deeply for each other, and that’s why I liked this story better than the other book I read.

What we learn about Jinsei is that he’s very beautiful and steals cars for Shibata who is Yakuza. Ishida knows this and its fun watching the plot unfold and how it ends up. This is a lust at first sight story, which ends in a HEA. I hoped the grammar issues from the other book would’ve lessened in this one, but it didn’t happen. There still were odd pov shifts and it seemed the pov shifts between characters were much more prevalent in this book than in the other book. Sometimes they happened every few paragraphs.

In the end, I liked this plot better, and I liked the characters better. Jinsei wasn’t a complete pushover. However, the grammar errors were still quite frequent and the author needs to get better betas and an editor. I give Bait: A Yaoi Adventure, 3 Stars

Set in Tokyo, Japan.

Jinsei, 18, is a blonde and blue-eyed car thief who weaponizes his sex appeal. He and the crew of the chop shop work for a mob boss named Shibara.

Tonight’s mark is Ishida Daijiro, a dark-haired, handsome businessman who is much younger than Jin’s usual prey. Tall, muscular, with golden eyes, Ishida is a billionaire. Jin is very interested in Ishida’s rare Lamborghini Reventón.

The two share an instantaneous attraction. After they cruise about the city and even onto the highway, Ishida takes Jinsei back to his hotel room for a different kind of ride.

Props to AR for not having every single guy be huge. One of the very few authors who’ll feature a MC with a small size. It’s rather sad we need yaoi for this, but here we are.

Good detail. Would be better if it were more consensual…but that comes later.

Jin really likes cars. He knows all about them. And there’s a lot of car talk in this book. Like, a lot. 💀

Junpei is a nice surprise twist; we learn the cold terms of Jinsei’s unfortunate bargain with Shibata.

Epilogue is strong. Good illumination of the relationship development and dynamic between the guys.

Overall, a cute and happy story.

I’m not a gearhead, but I love going fast in a big engine car. The detailed description of the Lamborghini Reventon was very interesting to read. Lucky Jinsei to get a ride in that hot car with the equally as hot driver. I liked how the reader knew from the ‘hello’ that Ishida knew who and what Jinsei was. The twist as to the ‘why’ he stole the cars for the yakuza had me tearing up.
A garage full of custom and classic cars and a well written story. I enjoyed this!

One of those stories I wish I had gotten more of, not to mention the few twists in it that I absolutely did not see coming. It was just too good and that ending left it open to be the beginning of an epic story, I really hope Rae revisits this for a continuation, perhaps when their older and have amassed their empire loved it!

Los libros de esta autora siempre me los leo muy rápido y todos me han gustado, unos más que otros claro, y este no fue la excepción.

Son libros más que nada para poder tener una distracción, aunque a este le tuve una pega porque las descripciones tan largas de las partes de los autos, han sido algo fastidioso, aunque después se pone muy amena la historia.

the beginning of a joke, but those are the characters for this book.

Add to the mix a yakuza and you have a desperate tale turned fairy tale.


Jinsei is stuck in a never-ending cycle. Due to his step father's debt he has to do many things he does not want to do. Now a car thief for a nasty yakuza in order to try to save his family. He seduces drugs and robs his targets.

One police detective has had enough of no clues and the amount of thefts, so he calls in the help of his friend billionaire Ishida.

Ishida buys a car that no one could pass up and sets a trap for the thief.

The plan is set in motion but Ishida is surprised by the bait. Determined to get to the bottom of the situation, Ishida forms more plans to get the result he wants.

Some heavy sex scenes, being yaoi this is male and male but has some endearing moments involving family and finding a partner in life.

This book has most things, drama, intrigue and wonderful sex scenes. The passion is so clear between the characters and the author gives you a fantastic ending, rounding up the story.

This is a good little story and I like the shorter length. Sexy dub/non-con with a marshmallow center. There were 2-3 times were I skipped a long car-talk section. The epilogue was unnecessary but sweet.
