Eliza and Christie Dunbar made headlines, when not even a year old, the twins faced a rare and risky surgery, with no guarantee that either would come out of it alive.
Now, exactly 31 years later, they are faced with another battle for survival—an unspeakable crime, with all evidence pointing to Eliza's sister.

The surgery might have physically separated them, but their unique bond proves it can never be broken, as they face the great odds, and a town that's turned against them. But will it be enough, to ensure that they both survive?

I decided to read this book based on my previous expience of Derek Ciccone's novels. The main character Eliza Dunbar is a seperated twin, who works in a newspaper office. We are introduced to Eliza and her family with a touch of black comedy, before the novel becomes more serious when Eliza's disabled mother is killed and her father is left badly injured after a break in at their home. I will read the follow up Adjoined, as I enjoyed this novel and would like to see how Eliza's life continues, although I feel that the authors previous novels Jack Hammer and the Jack Warner series are better and have more genuine twists and turns.

Initially I was disappointed when the story jumped 30 years thereby missing the trials, tribulations and happy childhood years of the twins. At one point I nearly stopped reading it but was so glad I persevered with it because it became a nice little page turner which I really enjoyed.

Great story!

It was a fun and entertaining thriller. I liked the fact that athletics were a main theme, down to the nerd hoop. Nice job, Derek.

Another great story by Derek Ciccone

Mr. Ciccone did not disappoint with his book, Conjoined. The story of Eliza and Chris's birth was interesting and was just the beginning of getting to know them. I was surprised at the ending and would love to see a sequel. Mr. Ciccone brought all the characters to life. And I love the messaging about connections.

This book starts 31 years ago as Sarah Dunbar and her husband Nathan are in hospital faced with an agonising wait while teams of doctors attempt to separate their conjoined twins, Eliza and Chris, giving them the chance of a normal life.
Moving to the present day the rest of this story is told through Eliza's mind and words. She tells of her life and her sisters and the strong bond between them. As they both look forward to celebrating the 31st anniversary of the day of their surgery, something happens which changes their lives completely and has a profound effect on both Eliza and Chris. They question their lives and the people around them looking for answers. Is the bond between both sisters strong enough to survive this event and make sense of it ?
I would recommend this book.
