If you're an audiobook fan, I highly recommend doing the series this way - it was an incredible experience going through one of my all-time favorite series this way.

My Original Review of Book 5

This was an intense one, and as I keep saying... the best one yet! (That opening scene... oh yes please!) These characters were both amazing, it was great to see the drama play out in this one.

I'm continuing my quest to enjoy this series in audio and I was thrilled to enjoy Tim Todd again. I vow he was born to read Aria Grace, and if I had my way he'd read them all ;)

As all my GRs friends know I'm a big fan of Ms Grace. She writes wonderful characters that I really enjoy getting to know. These two are no different. After being introduced to Jeff a couple of books ago I was happy to be getting to know him better and see him get his HEA.

To be perfectly honest though I must say that, I do want more. Yes, I believe in their relationship. Yes, it was wonderful watching them get to know each other and fall in love. However, I was left without another chapter or something I'm still left wondering about one certain aspect that had been a major deal. Why, oh why weren't we told how that worked out?

I can only hope that we get more insight into that during the next book.

When I Fall is the fifth book in the ‘Mile High Romance’ series. In this story, we meet Jeff, who works in Tech Support at the same software company that Drake helped co-found. As per the other books, the povs are told in first person through both MCs eyes.



What I like about this author’s books are the plots and characters. Even though this is a series, the characters are distinct from the ones in the other books, as are the plots. I don’t get a cookie cutter feeling as I have in some other series I’ve read by other authors.

Jeff is a fun-loving guy, but he’s ready to leave that part of him behind and settle down with someone. Sadly, he seems to attract the one-night stand kind of men and he despairs of ever finding anyone. When he meets a masked stranger at a party, he thinks ‘the Phantom’ might be the one. Unfortunately, even though there was chemistry between them, the Phantom was only looking for a brief encounter. It only affirms Jeff’s belief in himself that he’s not good enough to be a keeper and to be loved.

Drake is a smart, but secretive man. He doesn’t want any ties because he’s deep in the closet. One-night stands are enough for him, at least he thinks so until he meets Jeff, but he still won’t come out of the closet. I found it difficult to believe that Drake anguished over being gay even though he tells the readers he is. I didn’t feel his fear or anxiety about it, so I never found his argument about staying in the closet convincing. His thoughts came across as mere statements. This was the biggest issue I had with the story. Drake’s feelings weren’t conveyed well enough for me to feel them.

I liked the interactions between Jeff and Drake. Jeff, despite his insecurity, was willing to ‘hide in the closet’ with Drake as long as they could be together. He knew what it would cost him in terms of togetherness, but he was mature and willing to face the consequences. Drake was the one who was flakey.

I found the mystery surrounding the company’s problems interesting. When I Fall is an entertaining read. My only issue was the lack of emotion over Drake’s fear of being outed. I give this story, 4 Stars.

I did love this story.. It is book 5 in this series and it can be read as a standalone as well. I am a little sad that the other characters didn't come into play in this story as much as they did in the first 4 stories. This one got a little bit more confusing for me.. it had a bit of tech type stuff in it and I don't know the first thing about that but overall it was very well written and interesting. I loved the issues that Jeff had with himself and who he was.. but he was very out and proud.. Drake didnt seem to have those issues but had his own set of issues including not being out. I loved how it came out that he is gay because that was totally sweet. It was a very interesting story and I cannot wait to see what book 6 is about.

Jeff is tired of one night stands, but once again on Halloween he finds himself having sex in a closet with a man who is wearing a mask and will not tell him his name. Drake has not come out to his family and has never been in a real relationship, but cannot get the man from Halloween out of his mind. When problems arise in his business Drake and Jeff are thrown together in a work environment. The more time they spend together the closer they become, but when the sparks fly, will Drake be willing to come out of the closet? With great characters and a storyline that kept my interest this is another great read in this series.

When I Fall, book five in the Mile High Romance series by Aria Grace. Another great story in this series! More great characters in a wonderful storyline. The two main characters in this story are Jeff and Drake. They had a very interesting first meeting and the second meeting was quite a surprise. Loved how the storyline turned out. Another must read by Aria!

My favorite of this series so far features Kyle's work mate Jeff and their in the closet and silent business partner Drake. With a bit more of a plot, this one tells of computer software sabotage and an auspicious first meeting for the lovely boys. A good read!

1.5 stars - Awful ending. No resolution for Drake coming out to his family when throughout so much of the story he was so worried about what everyone would think. Quick and weird wrap up to all the stuff with what Chris was doing to sabotage Drake and Cooper’s company. I’m done with this series. Looking ahead in my 10 book set I see that one of the MCs who I adored in one of the previous books is killed off. Not something I want to read about.
