Rate this book
When a tornado takes her home, she's forced to live with the boy who broke her heart. From the best selling author of the Summer Unplugged series, Ella's Twisted Senior Year is a sweet, angsty teen romance that's perfect for fans of Kasie West, Ali Novak, and Jessica Sorensen. Having spent most of her senior year flying under the radar, the last thing Ella Lockhart expected was to have a tornado rip straight through her house, leaving her homeless. It’s bad enough that the whole school now pities her, but did her parents have to let the neighbors take them in? Now she's sharing a house with Ethan Poe, her former best friend-turned-enemy. All those feelings she used to have for him are starting to rain down on her again. Too bad he's a jerk and his new girlfriend has territorial issues. Thanks to Mother Nature, Ella's house and her entire life have been turned upside down. Ethan isn’t quite sure why Ella hates him so much, but he does know she wants nothing to do with him. He’s never quite gotten over the crush he had on her as a kid, and now that she’s living across the hall, it’s hard to stay away. His girlfriend isn’t helping the situation and when she shows her true colors, he doesn’t want to date her anymore. He wants to date someone like Ella. Too bad she hates him. Don't miss the sequel, Ella's Stormy Summer Break

A wonderful coming-of-age romance full of witty banter, swoonworthy romantic moments, and a hot guy you can't help falling for. Loved Ethan's shirt-making entrepreneurship - a nice quirky touch. Recommended.

When I'm in the mood for a nice YA book, I always reach for an Amy Sparling book. So when a new one by her comes out, I always grab it. This one did not disappoint. I love her characters. Even though high school was ages ago for me, I can still see this story happening. Another good one.

3.5 Stars!!!!

Really great book, Lots of fun and very cute!!
Don't know if it was just my kindle, but a lot of spelling errors and comma's missing, but the story was still really good! I loved Ella and Ethan, they were super cute and so adorable.
my 3.5 rating is because only very few books, by special authors gets 5 stars. SO my highest rating is 4 stars, so I liked this book a lot! just the ending kind of threw me! I would LOVE another book about these two though!!!!!

This Story is:
Cheesie, Teenage, Simple, Not much depth, predictable
BUT This Story has:
Strong Characters, Well Written, mis-communication/or lack there of that doesn't linger to long, Fun, Dual POV, and most importantyly - the characters spend more time talking with each other vs being in there own thoughts; YEAH!. Great execution.

The "twisted" tornado starts the story and brings the used to be BFFs, Ethan and Ella, back together. The girlfriend isn't having this and makes their life miserable.
This is basically whole story: tornado, distruction, horrible girlfriend....

No sex. a mild kissing.

Yes, I am 40 yrs old and enjoyed this simple teenage story.

Made it a little less than half way through this one but then I put this down because it was way too fast paced for my taste. The haste of putting the main characters together was awful, I just, I didn't like it at all. The characters were annoying as well, just, all around a disappointment for me. But one can't like them all, right!?

Fun, Flirty & Fierce!!!

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. I adored Ella and Ethan was the perfect swoon worthy guy! I loved how Ella stood up for herself and their romance kindled organically. There were lots of favorite and funny moments: the T-shirt, the second kiss, and the prom.

Audiobook Review posted on Audible

Would you consider the audio edition of Ella's Twisted Senior Year to be better than the print version?
If given the choice I would prefer to listen to this book over reading it. This was performed very well so I will always pick audio over reading when the narration is good.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Nothing because it is perfect as it.

What about Meghan Kelly’s performance did you like?
I really liked everything about her performance. She did a really good job with the characters and I would listen to another book from her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It was very engaging and I liked the story.

Any additional comments?
This was a cute YA story. Ella and Ethan used to be really close growing up as neighbors. But a misunderstanding leads their friendship to ruin. After a disaster and some financial problems Ella's family ends up moving into Ethan's family's home. I really liked the relationship between Ella and Ethan. Ethan was a really nice guy. A perfect YA hero. I liked Ella too. She was a bit of an outcast but she really stood up for herself when it counted. Without giving too much away this story really reminds me of a Kasie West book so if you are a fan of those I think you will really love this one.

Fast-paced, short and exactly what I needed!

This book is perfect for a quick, sweet YA summer read. Loved it and even though it was short it made me feel.

"He's not the same kid who was my best friend next door, the guy I crushed on like a maniac and the only one who knew all of my secrets."

I'm sensing a pattern from the books I am recently reading, but I struck gold in a few of them... This book being one of them.

I love this book! And I felt like I also saw this in a Japanese anime or a Korean drama once, but who cares! I liked the characters and I love the plot. It was adorable to see old friends get together, and see the magic of second chance romance through them. I just wished that they would've put that guy in his place who created the misunderstanding between them. That was years of lost time - and it sucked.

Luckily, the characters stick true to themselves throughout the book, and living in close proximity, and it was definitely fun as they fumble around how to act towards each other in their family's presence.

I recommend these to the romantics, and the teenagers and young adults (it is a bit of a nostalgic read, after all).

I'm a sucker for the childhood/best-friends falling in love trope so of course I knew I would like this one, especially since they hated each other but soon realized that it was all because of a stupid reason and soon became friends again, and the fact that it took place in Texas.

The story being told in both Ella and Ethan's POV was well-done. Reading about what each person was thinking and how one lie Corey told each of them when they were younger broke their friendship apart was a real eye opener. They were both played by Corey, and I fully expected him to show up and the two of them confront of him, but it didn't happen, what with having to deal with Ethan's crazy ex Kennedy, and I actually enjoyed reading about their "war" with her and basically the renewed relationship. It was a quick and easy read, and at least they got their happy ending!

I wanted to like this book, because it wasn't a complete disaster. Unfortunately despite there being a ton of promise in it, its basic premise is flawed so I can't really rate it higher than I have. I feel like four years is way too long to hold a grudge against someone you were supposedly so tight with, and from a third party who tried to hit on Ella afterwards, too. I realize they were just kids, but they were REALLY DUMB even for kids.

I also feel like the tension with Ethan's ex girlfriend was resolved way too neatly. No one changes their entire perspective in just a week, and with how nasty she was, I found it slightly unbelievable that they forgave her so quickly.

So yeah. An okay book. I wouldn't try to stop you from reading it if you wanted to.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed reading this young adult novel. I loved both of the main characters and the story was engaging and well-written. I plan on reading more of the authors books. The only reason that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was because it ended rather abruptly, in my opinion. An epilogue would have been nice.

Super loved it

I loved the story. The characters. How everything went. It's a bit sad at the beginning, but then things get better for Ella and her family.

This YA romance starts off with a bang as a tornado whips through Ella's small Texas hometown. Her house is destroyed, leaving Ella and her parents homeless, with only the clothes on their backs and the few belongings they recovered. Ella's next door neighbors take in her family, and now Ella is living down the hall from her former best friend, Ethan.

Four years ago, Ethan rejected her, crushing her and ruining their friendship. Now she's forced to see him every day. Ethan doesn't seem to realize he should be her enemy, but Ethan's girlfriend definitely sees her that way.

I really enjoyed this YA romance, it had a lot of substance. Unlike a lot of stories set in high school, Ella faced real problems. Her family wasn't perfect and sometimes she needed to step up and parent herself. Ella doesn't whine about the situation, she does everything she can to help. She also stood up for herself. Ethan was a perfect contrast to her, non-confrontational but supportive when he needed to be. The little references and stories about their childhood friendship were adorable. I'd love to read a sequel about their college days.

If you're planning on giving this audiobook to a younger reader, it's a clean read but it does include some swearing, drinking, and bullying. I think it would be a good read for young teens as an introduction to discuss bullying, and what different actions could have been taken. As an adult reader, I enjoyed it, and if you need a story to take you back to high school days and your first relationship, this is the perfect choice.

The narrator did a great job, she performed separate male and female voices for Ethan and Ella's alternating chapters. I enjoyed her delivery, it pulled me into the story. I received a copy of the audiobook and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved Ella and Ethan story it was touching and interesting how other can get in your way, this is the first time I have read anything by this author. This isn’t a cheesy romance but one filled with pain, sorrow, a second chance at a love that may not have been. I enjoyed her writing style and how she brings emotion into it. It is a sweet story with delightful characters.

The narrator did a wonderful job really making you feel the emotion of each character as they go through some very trying times. The character voices are wonderful, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. Her male and female voices are given with strength and character. There are no repeating of words, no background noise, no volume changes. If breaks were taken I could not tell. This is one narrator I know I will enjoy listening to each time I pick up one of her new audios. I really look forward to listening to her voice.

I thought the author did a great job in keeping the readers attention, I did feel the ending was a little rushed but truly enjoyed the story.

I have not read very many books by this author but I have noticed that her books are pretty easy and sweet reads. Nice little love stories very tame and just fun quick books. As with any good story of course it's got its good download of drama but not so much that I was pulling my hair out or hated it. You knew right off the bat that Ella and Ethan had a really big misunderstanding. I was just wondering at what point the book was going to make them both realize it and bring them together. I did like that once that happened the story was very much about them versus everyone else and I always have a soft spot in my heart for those. This was a quick fun read, very simple and just entertaining I hope you enjoy it too.

If you are looking for a feel good romance that will take you back to your first serious relationship then you need to pick this book up. It's filled with snarky sarcasm and playful banter that will leave a grin on your face that you just can't get rid of. Ella is feisty and sarcastic, and Ethan is the popular quarterback that is sweet and thoughtful. If you are look for a book that is deep and earth shattering, this definitely isn't it. But if you want a light, quick read to lift your spirits then you'll love this.

As a side note, the grammatical errors in this were fairly prevalent and it needs to go through another editing session, so be warned.

Quick read and amazing story.

I totally fell in love with this one. Ethan and Ella are so cute and sweet that it made me cry. But, this is also a fun book to read (except for the tornado part). I also cried when Ella lost her home but that got her into funny situations.

Ow, I have to say I loved Ethan's mom, Ella and Ethan's parents are so shippers with the children, they even pictured them married. I know I did.

Nothing more to say, five stars is fair for this one. Btw, I need more story... is that possible?

3.5. A decent story, I liked it as I was reading it. I wouldn't say it was really rememberable tho, a typical best friend to couple story with some lies and crazy exes thrown into the mix. Oh and a tornado, i.e. twisted in the title but that really wasn't even a big deal in it, just a plot device to further the friendship into relationship mode. Overall decent but wouldn't be my first choice to recommend or reread anytime soon.
