Jeromy Robbins’ Shadow Empire:The Varik Noir, is a fascinating fictional journey that defies the boundaries of genre and categorization. Robbin’s places the reader in the driver seat with his unique first-person introduction to the Realms of Thia and the Varik Noir character. A story of adventure, romance and war is brought together in fascinating detail. It makes you feel like you’re there, in the shoes of the Varik Noir exploring highly detailed dungeons that make you feel like you’re in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, epic battles between ancient civilizations, and an epic tale of love and romance that is guaranteed to make the heart melt. It kept me captivated and interested as each page uncovered another piece of a complex and sophisticated puzzle.

For so long I’ve felt starved for what makes fictional creation truly rich, Robbin’s indulged me in an interaction of well developed and described characters, from the Varik Noir himself, to the mysterious dream-like interactions which initiate a story of romance with a strong and defined female character. The character Mothus, my absolute favorite is strong and fierce and provides a unfathomably epic supporting role to the Varik Noir. It is a story, I just couldn’t put down. Battles raged on, the definitions of hero were tested in my mind as the Varik Noir struggles to evolve and grow. Just when I believed I had faced the perfect story, there was more to read, another battle to be won, another obstacle to overcome. This book has everything a literary masterpiece should have, and it’s ground breaking approach to character perspective toys with the emotions and mind of it’s reader. A definite must read for those searching for adventure. I definitely recommend this book.
