Sexy hot and sweet.

Irish rock star Owen Blackwell is trying to get over the one he thought got away. After many years creating music with Hammered he thought he had fallen for his lovely band mate Keys, who only ever saw him as a good friend and big brother. But one look at a gorgeous woman at a Halloween party, an impromptu photography session and some seriously steamy make out session had him believing he just might be able to get over his heartache. There was only one problem, his mystery photographer left him before giving him any way of contacting her.
“I think you’re going to have to either have a drink with me, dance with me or marry me and have my babies.” His heavily rimmed, seductive blue eyes simmered into mine as I turned back to stare. “Your pick, love.”

Calliope Templeton has just gotten out of a bad marriage and is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and her long forgotten passion for photography, especially of the boudoir variety. She isn’t looking for anything that doesn’t relate to her career, not even the very determined super sexy Irishman. A man she’ll be cohabitating with in close quarters on a daily basis due to the incredible job offer Hammered’s label offered her. Can she keep herself from crossing the line and risking her heart?
“Play with me, Calliope. Be my muse for as long as you’ll allow.”

Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott brilliantly accomplished at writing rock star romances with a perfect balance between steamy hot chemistry, fun and charming characters, heartwarming connections and amazing concert portrayals that make me feel as if I were right there listening to these great performers.

I got hooked on this great writing duo through their Oblivion series and now have them on my default want to read list. Of course this series has quirks all its own, starting with the interesting book titles. I mean, Manaconda? The book practically begged to be read! And the band dynamics are also pretty interesting, like Owen’s unrequited love towards Keys.

We got a little bit of Owen in book #2 and I automatically wanted him to find his happy. He’s so easygoing and loveable, not to mention sexy as all get out with that Irish brogue and take charge charm. It was so fun how he was relentless in pursuing Callie and even though he’s a successful rock star who could maintain his single status and shy away from anything serious, he’s completely unafraid of the possessive feeling Callie awakens in him nor at wanting so much more than just fun with the beautiful shutterbug.

Callie was on the other side of the relationship spectrum due to her failed marriage and deep seated insecurities even though she has a great personality and sense of fashion. Completely afraid of anything profound and lasting which made the chase between the two all the more fun. Sure they have an incredible attraction and smoldering hot chemistry which ignites practically from the get go, but Owen had a hard time convincing Callie of taking a chance on them. He eventually did though in a spectacular way only a rock star could.
“I was too many things. Too ungainly, except when a camera was in my hands. Too snarky, too apt to say the worst thing at the worst time. Too thoughtless, too self-conscious.”

Manipulated is book #3 in the Hammered series by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliot. It’s written from both points of view with a happy ending.

Be ready to laugh, swoon, and feel that you need a couple of cold showers when reading this book. Owen was the badass Irish bassist for the rock band Hammered and had first met Callie at a masquerade ball on Halloween. Callie was at the party with her sister Ava and she was all about taking photos of the various rock stars in attendance at this party for a piece that her writier sister was working on. At first glimpse of each other Owen was intrigued by Callie but Callie was coming off a bad divorce and was trying to find herself again and recreate the person she once was. So once the party had quieted down Callie was taking some pictures of Owen and when one thing lead to another Callie got scared and took off like a rabbit earning her the nickname of Bunny with Owen.

A couple of months later and Callie has the opportunity of a lifetime of being the photographer for Hammered’s 10th Anniversary book which meant that she would get to go on tour with the band. Before they were ready for their first concert Callie was introduced to the band and Owen seemed to not realize who she was from their little hot moment a couple of months prior. Sure she had changed her hair color but once she opened her mouth Owen then knew it was his “rabbit”. Were these two going to get the chance to finish what was started by the pool those months ago with the idea that they could do a “no strings attached” relationship? Would Callie be willing to risk her newly found career again on a rock star that would be out of her life after her job was done? This book also dealt with how a person can come out of a relationship after being torn down emotionally by the person they married only to hopefully not let something good pass them by. Just how do you believe and trust not only in yourself but those close to you again? There were laugh out loud moments in this book and some very steamy connections and so worth it for any rock star romance lover.

•••••••••

REVIEW: MANIPULATED is the third full length installment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult HAMMERED rock star romance series focusing on the members of the rock band of the same name. This is bass player Owen Blackwell, and photographer Calliope (Cali) Templeton’s story line. MANIPULATED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommended reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory. The Hammered series is a spin of from Quinn and Elliott’s Lost in Oblivion series. Some of the characters cross over including Lila and Nick Crandall, Donovan Lewis, and Gray and Jazz Duffy.

Told from dual first person points of view (Owen and Cali) MANIPULATED follows Cali Templeton as she is hired as the in-house photographer for the rock band Hammered. Hammered’s recording company wants to release a ten year anniversary coffee table book focusing on the band, and Cali’s photography work has caught the attention of the man in charge-Donovan Lewis. But Cali knows that to work with the band means coming face to face with her ‘almost’ one-night stand Owen Blackwell-the bass player for Hammered-and the man who has occupied her fantasies and thoughts since they first me four months earlier. What ensues is the building relationship between Owen and Cali- a friends with benefits/no strings attached agreement that turns into something more. Owen wants forever but Cali fears losing her job and her reputation by fooling around with a member of the band.

The attraction between Cali and Owen is immediate. Their first meeting with one another came four months earlier at a Halloween masquerade ball at the invitation of Cali’s sister and journalist Ava Templeton, and in the ensuing time Cali never forgot about the man with the Irish brogue and sexy a$$. As Cali continues to reject Owen’s advances, our hero makes Cali a deal for a no-strings attached relationship as Cali still has issues and struggles with her past. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive, although limited in number as the couple continues to find themselves interrupted on more than one occasion.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of the members of the band: piano player Faith Keystone and her soon to be husband and bodyguard Quinn Alexander; Reed (Bats) Mason; lead singer Hunter Jordan and his wife Kennedy McManus; drummer Zach Kane; and band manager Indie West.

The world building continues to focus on the band: on stage, behind the scenes, on the bus, in the hotels, and on the road between concerts and gigs. Because Cali is hired to photograph the band in action, the reader is front and center while the band plays on stage.

Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliot’s MANIPULATED is a heartwarming and energetic story line; a passionate look at two people struggling to find love on the road; an inspiring tale about success, friendship, and a happily ever after. There is very little conflict to the story line premise except what is brought into the relationship by our story line heroine, The premise is entertaining and fun; the characters are engaging and energetic; the romance is electric and hopeful.

The gang from Hammered is back! Are you ready for the sexy Irishman's story?

Ah, Owen Blackwell. I've adored this character from the beginning and, let's face it, every girl loves a guy with an accent....

It's Halloween, and the annual Hammered Halloween charity bash is in full swing. Owen's not really feeling it this year, but then he meets her - the beautiful, mysterious photographer fluttering about the venue capturing the moment.

Things don't go quite right that night, but a second chance might be just what they need.

I LOVED this story. Owen is a total package - sexy rock star, alpha in bed, heart of gold, with a sweet, loving, & gentle side you're gonna fall in love with. Callie, to me, is such a realistic character. She's got her flaws, her concerns, and her self-doubts. She's quirky and lovable and a lot stronger than she sometimes giver herself credit for.

Overall, this is another winner in the series. And of course, all our Hammered friends make their appearances through out the book and even some Oblivion cameos are made, though I'm still disappointed in myself that I haven't had time to read that series yet.

Callie and Owen both have some issues to work through when it comes to love. Owen has some unrequited love in his past that has left him a little bitter and confused. Callie has an asshole ex-husband who did a number on her confidence, self-worth and independence.

After a Halloween benefit party brings these two together, their instant draw to one another plays out over the next several interactions through some teasing and chemistry that is hot hot hot!

What I love most about Owen is that he is just naturally everything Callie needs. He isn’t treating her any special way to coddle her after her ex-husband’s treatment of her. There are no kid gloves or special handling. He just knows her worth and gives her the space to heal herself.

Callie goes from unsure and reserved to a bad ass in a short period of time and gains back her confidence, not through Owen, but with him by her side.

My critique of this book is that it seemed short for the Oblivion world, and do I didn’t feel like we got a chance to learn as much about what makes Owen who he is. But this story had more quotes full of wisdom than I realized was even possible.

I absolutely loved Manipulated! Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott continue to give their readers exactly what we want: gorgeous sexy rock stars, laugh-out-loud moments and seriously steamy stories! Owen and Callie are smokin' hot together and, as with the other Hammered books, we get to see glimpses of our favorites from their Lost in Oblivion series which is always a treat! The book will make you laugh and laugh often throughout. Told from a dual POV, you won't be able to put it down.

While this book follows characters from Manaconda and Manhandled, it can absolutely be read as a standalone. However, you should definitely read the other books in the Hammered series as well because they are fabulous!!

Loved Owen & Callie. I loved how Owen fell so fast for Callie & how she was not so sure about a relationship even though she’d liked him from the very first picture she took of him. Their relationship was one of a chase & it was great to see Owen get the girl. Definitely recommend to read.

Authors Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott have become a go-to for me when it comes to rockstar romances. Whether it's the Oblivion on Tour series, or the sexy rockers of the Hammered series, they continue to delight. With this latest installment in the Hammered series sparks fly between Irish bassist Owen and the recently divorced Callie who's rebuilding her life after years of her self-esteem being battered by an ex who left her woefully unsatisfied. Add in charming interactions with the other band members of Hammered and you end up with a quick yet satisfying read full of witty and playful banter and plentiful steamy encounters.

From the moment readers meet Callie Templeton they discover a unique heroine whose outspoken nature belies her low self-esteem. She married young and from that moment on her husband made her into what he wanted her to be, mocking her boudoir photography career, and making her feel as if her body wasn't enough. She's slowly reclaiming her life since her marriage ended, but her feelings regarding her self-image are still a work in progress. When her popular and sexy younger sister pushes her into joining her at a party sponsored by rock band Hammered though it changes her life irrevocably, if only she's brave enough to take a chance on the newfound feelings Owen engenders in her. Callie's a larger than life heroine, from her bold style of dress to saying the first thing that pops into her head. She may appear a bit prudish regarding sex early on but Owen quickly brings out her sex kitten side which leads to numerous scorching encounters. Overall she's leery of the intense feelings he engenders in her and struggles to keep things casual despite how serious his intentions become in a relationship that hits a huge roadblock in the last few pages due to her fears which frustrated me as it felt emotionally manipulative to readers. For the most part though she was a strong and sassy woman who brought out a softer, more romantic side, to Owen that had me rooting for their HEA every step of the way.

Owen Blackwell is still trying to recover from his long-time unrequited love for best friend, and bandmate, Keys as her recent marriage definitely makes her off-limits. The last thing he expects to find at their band's annual charity ball though is the one woman to make him forget about Keys and focus on the future instead. Owen and Callie's first encounter crackles with sexual tension and soon becomes all-consuming, resulting in a Cinderella moment that keeps her forever in his thoughts and picking up where they left off the moment they're reunited. Owen knows the moment he sees Callie how important she is to him and doesn't hesitate to let others know as well. It's clear he sees a future with her in it despite her wanting to keep things temporary and tells her in every way his intentions which charmed me wholeheartedly. From his sexy Irish brogue to his constant compliments regarding her body and career, Owen knows how to treat a woman and being with him slowly rebuilds her self-esteem. Through sweet and sexy interludes and playful banter theirs is an entertaining relationship that had me falling even more for Owen throughout the story as he was proud of what he and Callie had together. Though she wanted to treat him like a dirty little secret he found joy in every single encounter and wanted to share it with the world which put their HEA in jeopardy, leaving me angry with her for denying the rightness of their connection. Despite this small hiccup late in the story Owen remains my newest book boyfriend for the lavish attention he heaped on Callie and for being a true romantic in letting her work through her issues without pressure from him. He's the epitome of romantic hero and Wyatt, who I've been pining for from the first installment, will have to work hard to displace Owen in my dreams!

This was a fairly simple story of boy meets girl, but with a rockstar twist. Owen's a loyal and kind-hearted rocker who wants to claim Callie the moment he sees her in a romance that goes astray because of her self-doubts. She's outspoken in so many ways but all too often felt like second best, except when it came to Owen's feelings regarding her, but it still had her doubting his all too obvious feelings. As the music tour progressed numerous scorching and clandestine encounters were balanced with playful moments that brought he and Callie together, charming readers every step of the way and investing us further into their HEA. Along with their fun and flirty burgeoning relationship readers get to spend time with some of the other members of Hammered. There's blissfull happiness for some while Bats is still self-destructing in his toxic relationship and Wyatt and Zack are the lone men standing waiting for their own HEA. Lila and Nick Crandall also stop by to dispense some snarky words of wisdom which reminds readers of the familial connection between all these rockstars which keeps us fully invested in each character's story. On a whole this was another satisfying installment in this dynamic duo's erotically-charged and vividly depicted world of rockstars. Though my frustration over Callie's actions late in the story dimmed my overall enjoyment, the wonderousness of Owen had me smiling from the first page to the last. This series has held me captive from the very start with its colorful and immensely appealing cast of sexy but sincere rockstars and I wait with bated breath for each subsequent release and recommend it to those looking for short, sweet, and sexy stories!

I did enjoy this book just not as much as the first two. I loved Owen but I didn’t like Callie as much. Owen had developed feelings for his best friend (Keys from Manhandled) and was trying to hide that fact from the band. When he first saw Callie at the Halloween benefit she drew him to her, but she had a lot of hang ups from a previous relationship and she ran without telling him her real name. Two months later they met again and their relationship started from there. I think maybe if it was explained more why Callie was the way she was I might have liked her more. She just came off weak and whiny for the most part. Owen was very sweet, she wanted no strings and he agreed but I think that changed pretty quickly for him. A good read and I’m still looking forward to the other band members.

Rocking

Is the story of "Bats" ever going to be told? I'm on the last book and you barely touch on him except to say everyone is angry because he's still messing with the "viper".

As far as the first three books, all I can say is they left me surprised. I didn't think I would like the first book, I don't normally like to read rockstar type books, but was totally surprised that all three so far has kept me interested in reading the next, etc. Am on the fourth book now and can't wait to see what you have in store for Wyatt.

Owen is super dreamy and you can just hear the accent in his words as you read this awesome book. Owen is recovering from his best friend getting engaged and Callie is recovering from a marriage that took her identity. Owen and Callie meet at a masquerade party and at the end of the night, she disappears ala Cinderella. When they meet again, Owen is bound and determined not to let her escape this time. He just needs to convince her that this is right.

Sweet Seduction

Callie is a photographer who tags along with her sister Ava on a job. Owen is a band member of the group, Hammered. Callie sees Owen in a rare moment, but gets spooked and run, until she runs into him again that night. Owen wondered if he'd see her again and fate is on his side. Can Callie let her past marriage and baggage go, or will she walk alone? Read now it's a fast read!!

BETTER AND BETTER!

This series does get better with each book! These two characters, Callie and Owen, are so lovable, especially Callie. Her rambling sense of humor is endearing and I can relate to that. Their story is a reluctant one for Callie as she is divorced after an abusive situation. Owen, however, will not give up and wears her down.

Loved this book!

Note: This ARC was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, Owen Blackwell, you are a rock star after my own heart. Manipulated, the third novel in the Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott-penned rock romance series Hammered, is Owen's love story with freelance photographer Calliope Templeton. The two meet during his band's annual masquerade ball and the sizzling chemistry between them leads to what looks like a promising and mutually satisfying ending, but alas, Callie runs off before Owen can seal the deal. A dream offer from Ripper Records head honcho has Callie back in Owen's presence and while she looks a bit different without her Bettie Page get-up, Owen quickly realizes the photographer assigned to shadow Hammered is none other than his mystery bunny, erm, woman. This book, just like those before it, starts off with all cylinders blazing, but then slows things down, allowing the characters to explore that immediate connection and to see if there's more to what's going on than mere lust. There's a reason why Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott are go-to authors for me and the proof is right there in this latest installment in what's now clearly becoming favorite series on my end.

I admit it: I love Owen. The guy was adorable and his being Irish and having that accent were like the double dose of cherries on top of the delicious sundae that is the bassist for Hammered. His lighthearted persistence in his pursuit of Callie had me grinning like a loon. Callie was a hard nut to crack, already jaded by her marriage and divorce from a man who never put her first in his life. What is it about the men in this series that has me hooked? Maybe it's because Owen, like Hunter Jordan before him, are so devoted to their women and in going all in when it comes to their relationships. It's almost as if they already know how meant to be they are with their respective partners, and they're the ones who have to do the convincing that being together is worth taking a chance on. This was a fun, easygoing romance, one that I thoroughly enjoyed while also leaving me eagerly anticipating the next novel in the series, Manster, which will be Hudson Wyatt's turn underneath the love limelight. Manipulated also continues to have me curious about other supporting characters, doing it's job well as part of an ongoing series. It gets five stars. ♥

If I wanted to be fearless, I had to stop being afraid. So simple and so very hard.

Calliope Templeton is in the process of reclaiming her life. Blessed with an eye for the camera and the innate talent to find the perfect shot, Callie is just coming back into her own after a particularly nasty divorce, putting together the pieces of herself that make her, well, her. When she lands the best opportunity that she's had lately, as event photographer at a party for the rich and famous, little does she know that her groove is about to come roaring back like nobody's business.

Mourning the loss of the love that wasn't, Owen Blackwell is ready to find his happy for now, and who better than the hot Bettie Page lookalike that's snapping photos of him and his bandmates? But when their hot hook-up goes awry, Owen is left wondering what caused his sexy photog to rabbit on him.

MANIPULATED is the the third book in the Hammered series by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, two of my go-to authors, and it might be my favorite so far. Callie's like a butterfly emerging from her chrysalis after a very long time, having waited what seems like forever to get back to living her life in a way that expresses who she truly is. And Owen, oh, Owen, he had me from the very beginning of the series, but, here? Here he's every bit the romantic artistic Irishman, happy to take Callie just as she is, helping, even, to motivate her and lift her up even more as she emerges as the woman that she's becoming. He's poetic, he's dashing, he's alpha (so much the alpha!), and he's gifted in all the ways that make a girl's heart (and other parts) go all in. Their interactions both entertain and titillate, and I enjoyed every single minute of it.

Cari and Taryn are the mistresses of writing books with characters that you never tire of seeing, and interweaving series so that old friends make frequent appearances as new stories unfold. Ripper Records, the Lost In Obivion folks, and even a mention of some Warning Signs shenanigans make MANIPULATED feel like a visit home. It's super-easy to give this one 5 stars, because I love it that much. But, too, I have to say again, if you haven't read all of Cari's and Taryn's stuff, from the LOI books on through, do yourself a favor, start at the beginning, and settle in, because you're about to fall in love.

In this latest book in the Hammered series by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, the authors give the reader a cute and entertaining story of moving on after life doesn't quite work out the way it was planned.

Callie is trying to get her life back on track after her divorce. She's struggling to rebuild the photography business she had before she married. She's really focused on getting over her ex and getting back to who she was both personally and professionally. Her sister Ava is also helping her out by dragging her along to a photo shoot at a Halloween party. Her sister encourages her to have a good time and let her hair down at the party, which she ends up doing when she meets the delicious rock star dressed up like Blackbeard.

Owen is not exactly in the partying mood as he watches the couples around him, especially Keys and Quinn. He's been harboring a secret love for Keys and now that she's married and off the market, he's got to get over her. When he spies a beautiful photographer at the party, he's all over her and they both are hot for each other...until she gets scared and runs away.

When Callie gets an offer to do some photos for Hammered while on tour, she knows it isn't going to be easy to be stuck on a bus with Owen, but her focus is on her job as much as she can. But Owen isn't going to go for that, and there's some really great pursuit going on in Manipulated.

I really enjoyed this read. It's sexy and fun and it wasn't hard to want Owen and Callie to have some love in their lives after everything they have been through. They really try to keep their relationship a secret, but everything threatens to fall apart when Owen wants to make their relationship more than temporary. Even though Callie is starting to have feelings for him, her job could be in jeopardy and she panics.

This series has a humorous tone and I really love that about it. It's just a lot of fun and Owen gets to show just how much of a sweetheart he is when he pulls out all the stops to win Callie back. It's a feel good romance that lifted my heart and left me with a smile. This one could easily become a comfort read for me.

It can be read standalone.

This is hands down my favorite book of the Hammered Series . Owen Blackwell is fighting his melancoly trying to get over the girl he lost, but never had, his bandmate and newly married Faith "Keys" Keystone
Callie is dealing with a recent divorce and trying to find herself again as a boudoir photographer, enter her sister Ava who has been invited to the annual Hammered charity Halloween Party and decided it's the best opportunity for Callie to get her photography chops back by taking pictures for her magazine. Owen Blackwell notices the 50's pin up looking beauty right when she's about to punch a drunk admirer in the face - preventing the violence, Owen decides to escort "Bettie" around the Houdini Estate while she shoots, of course her favorite subject is right in front of her. When things start getting hot and heavy between them in the gardens Callie/Bettie takes off running, leaving a shoe behind and Owen not even knowing her real name.
Months later Callie is summoned by Donovan Lewis CEO of Ripper Records (and someone I really hope gets his own story) and propostions her to take photos for the bands 10th anniversary. Callie is both excited and terrified about seeing Owen again, hoping he has no idea who she is. Well it doesn't take long before Owen recognizes the blue eyed beauty. Owen resolves to break down every wall the gun-shy Callie throws his way and you have to love a guy that gives her the space she thinks she needs all the while knowing they are made for each other.

Fun addition to the series, Owen & Callie are adorbs!

This is a prototypical rockstar romance. Down on her luck Callie is trying to rebuild her career as a photographer after a bad divorce from a real jerk of a guy. Owen is trying to recover from an unrequited love with his best friend Keys since she just got married. Owen and Callie meet at the annual fundraiser Halloween costume party and it’s instant attraction, but Callie runs away.

Months later, she ends up becoming the band’s photographer for their 10-year anniversary book. Since it’s the 10-year anniversary tour, they decide to do it via bus instead of planes and hotel rooms. Owen works hard at breaking down Callie’s defenses and soon enough they are sneaking around to have time together. Many steamy and funny scenes. I especially liked when they ended up trapped in Owen’s leather clothes trunk in the back of one of the support trucks.

Owen’s a great guy, sweet, sexy, romantic and constantly helping Callie come into her true self. The point of view switches between Owen and Callie, so we get to see both sides of the story. A sweet HEA with no cliffhanger for these two. Several scenes of interaction between the band members and other characters from the previous books in the series.

Enjoyable, light, easy, short read. My only complaint is the many typos throughout the book. For example, “she TOUCHED her camera back in her bag. The next sentence includes a repeated word. They distract from the reading enjoyment.

A rockstar hero with an Irish brogue who will melt your heart as fast as he'll charm you out of your panties. ‘Nuff said. Now run & one-click! :D

Seriously though. Owen is just swoon worthy. It's a little embarrassing that a fictional character can reduce you to a tingling mess, but this hero just doesn’t play fair. He’s smexxy and sweet and funny and a fierce protector of those he cares about. Oh, and did I mention a dirty-talking tease? Heeeere’s my panties.

Callie is trying to rebuild her confidence and her career after her ex destroyed both. She’s uber talented, a friend to all, and sometimes a hot mess, except with Owen. Together those two strike sparks, and she gives as good as she gets. And that’s REALLY good.

The secondary characters are, as always with Quinn & Elliott books, an integral part of the story. This one is cameo-heaven. There are appearances by so many of the authors’ previous book characters that I almost got out a score card to keep track. It was wonderful seeing and catching up with them all. The newest character to pique my interest is Wyatt, Owen’s bandmate. He and Callie struck up a fast friendship, much to Owen’s chagrin. Wyatt gave Owen a run for his money in the race to capture my heart, so I can’t wait to see more of this racecar driver turned rockstar.

Manipulated is a fun, laugh out loud (okay, snort), and steamy read that might just make you tear up too. If Rom Com is your thing, run and one-click.
